Women Who Travel Podcast: The Magic of Island Life in Scandinavia

"Faroe is an incredibly remote island covered with wild strawberries. It is a ferry ride away from Sweden's most popular island, Gotland. It is famous for being the home of Ingmar Bergman, who set many of his films there. The island is super raw and dark in winter, with a landscape made of light limestone that reflects the water, creating a dream-like atmosphere. The Bergman Centre, a museum dedicated to his movies, is located here, along with a lovely cafe and bike rentals to explore the island."

A lot of comfy places to spend the summer especially during the medieval week. The sound of ocean waves accompany your sunset hunting moment. While living in Sweden it's worth to visit this beautiful-historical island.

Amazing island off the south east coast of Sweden, best visited between May and September. The walled town of Visby is the main attraction, with lots of beautiful cobbled streets, handicraft galore and more restaurants than you can wave a stick at. During July it’s peak time here, so prepare for droves of tourists, and cues to eateries and night clubs. After beach (Famous Tofta strand is 13km south) is another big thing and many places to go, like Kallis, with DJS and bands playing whilst the patrons are pouring champange over each other, it can get pretty messy but a whole lot of fun! Outside of Visby there are many lovely villages and places to visit, like Fårö island, a nature reserve including nudist beaches. There is so much more to write about but I urge you to go and see for yourself. Medieval week in august not to be forgotten. Enjoy!

Admittedly, I didn't see much of Gotland beyond the old town of Visby and a distant cruise along the island. Nonetheless, this is clearly a beautiful place; so much to explore and see within a short distance. Who'd have thought it possible to have so many church ruins in such a small area. Would definitely return to explore further afield.

This is one of the most beautiful islands in the Baltic sea. There are cute little villages with great restaurants. Amazing cliffs, empty country roads, beaches and hidden little treasures all over thr island. You can find everything from party to tranquility.

Very welcoming people, lots to see and often great weather. Though always a water shortage, expensive ferry to get there (no tax-free) and you need to ask the locals to find the really good swimming spots. If you want a less tourist type visit I suggest going off season. Most of the "tourist traps" are closed, only the places the locals like manage to stay open and there's still lots to see! I really do recommend visiting Gotland!

Lots and lots of medieval history, historical ruins and an amazing botanical garden. The people are friendly and nice and you feel safe and welcome.

Loved renting a car and meandering aimless through the countryside. We found many quaint and interesting places.
