Overpriced even for NY. Good selections in a smaller space. Pricing on the shelves for produce wasn’t too accurate. But “no we do not have regular bananas”, only organic for $1.29 / lb. Then I found out they are owned by Shop-Rite.

Great location, somewhat reasonable prices, employees keep everything stocked, line moves quick. There’re plenty of options to choose; from $0.99 bagels and bread to prepared meals: sushi, sandwiches, soups etc, or just go grab a snack.

Suspicious hot bar but overall an incredible amount of variety in their products. There’s soup/sushi/salad/sandwiches for lunch and/or a quick coffee (hot, canned oatmilk, possibly iced) as well as fruit/deli meat/pantry items/ veggies for your office stash. If you work near here and happen to primarily reside at your job, you should try it. Update: still great but I recently tried some of the prepared foods and they didn’t live up to my expectations. Really hurt and confused about how dry the chicken tenders are.

I promise you wont be disappointed. I also picked up salmon yo cook for dinner and boyyyy i am glad i did it was 2 pieces seasoned with garlic, butter, parsley and 🍋 me and my son devoured it i paid $8.00 for the 2 pieces because it was at the expiration date that day and needed to be cooked that night. It was superb. The prices can be high but you can get awesome deals if you look! 😉 stop by if u in the area. Photo below is tempura shrimp 🍣 delicious 😋

I used to work near to this market, so I started to buy my lunch everyday. Most of the time I took food from the buffet, but I also asked for fried chicken or sushi. Isn’t cheap and sometimes the food tastes different even if it is the same plate than other days.

This place has everything from hot meals, salads, fruits and veges. One stop shopping here.

Great variety but food is occasionally past expiration and/or has not been kept at safe temperatures. I would never eat something that isn’t shelf stable from here. Also be wary of price gouging- the listed price is often different than what rings up. Self checkout is not that annoying.

Oh my god. I frequent this place so often that I've never bothered to write a review-until today. The sheer number of times I've bought spoiled items from here is outrageous! Truffle mayo, fish, milk, eggs-you name it, they've sold it rotten. Today was the last straw. I went to pick up some hummus for dinner, and as I was leaving, I noticed blue ink all over my expensive shirt, my hands, and my arms. I had no idea where it came from until I looked at the hummus. THE LID WAS LEAKING BLUE INK!! They claimed they'd never seen that before, but I knew they were lying. I went back to the hummus section and saw HALF THE HUMMUS CONTAINERS WERE LIKE THAT! Absolutely horrendous. They REFUSED to pay for the damage to my shirt and the dermatologist appointments I had to schedule to fix the rashes caused by the toxic ink. Never again. This place is a nightmare. Avoid at all costs.

EVERY ITEM YOU BUY MUST BE CHECKED BEFORE YOU LEAVE THIS STORE!!! Just purchased a six pack of Kozyshack rice pudding and discovered (once home) there were only 5! Conveniently the one missing was in the center where you can't see it when purchasing As much as the location is good (for people living in Tribeca) I HATE this store!! I like the people who work there and I don't want this review to be a reflection on them. THE OWNERS OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED!!!!

Agree with the fact that it's overpriced, but was conveniently located near my accommodation and I was grateful they were still open in the evening. A yummy lobster sushi roll was $8.99 (good price), but most items I decided not to buy b/c of the price. The Mushroom overnight oats were on sale for $2.19. The employees were very friendly and the establishment seemed clean and airy. Everything was well stocked.

I like this deli. It has everything and it's not crowded. I tried their Korean fried chicken and heat it up when I got home and it wasn't bad; of course, not the same restaurants, but definitely ease the craving. There's a lot prepped food that can be cooked for dinner. Everything is very convenient. There are self-checkout machines so there weren't any lines.

For a quick lunch to go, this is a very good option. I have had the prepared foods, and must say, have had nothing but good experiences. The folks here are friendly and helpful. The store is pleasant, convenient and no lines. The cooked salmon is very good and the servings sizes are satisfying. I come here a couple of times a month, so I am happy.

My son and I came in to buy drinks and snacks for our night out. I went to the bathroom and saw that the one was out of service so I went downstairs because I thought one was down there. Found a bathroom and then can only assume in the manager was there screaming that he was going to call the police. I did not see any signs that said I could not go to the bathroom and that it was employees only. With that being said if bathroom was out of service, I don't think it would've been an issue and I probably would've bought more drinks and snacks than we did.

I got sushi here. It's pretty good. They also have place to eat. This supermarket is located across from the small park. Self-service is opened. Some customers were aggressive I don't know why, so I took 1star off.

Updated review: this is the first time I've visited Gourmet Garage in a few years and I am happy with the improvements. Nowadays, $5.99 for a pint of strawberries is not so bad anymore. They also carry Beecher cheeses, which I love. Great store.

Not sure how this place survives with such high prices, so little customers, and such expensive rent it must be paying. Every single item I saw was overpriced compared to any "non gourmet" food store/supermarket. The price hike is for the expensive neighborhood. The baked goods, the dairy products, some prepared foods looked like they've been packaged and laying on the shelves for a while, so watch out for those expiration dates.

Cool small supermarket with a great selection. They have a lot of things you don't see elsewhere. I'd go back if I was in the area.

Ok selection but not as good as their other locations. Crispy chicken sandwich didn't look anywhere as good as their fried chicken and bun was soggy and cheap. The chicken wrap was a bit better.

I got food poisoning from their sushi deluxe last week! :( Shame too, it tasted quite nice.

Used to be a time that i could go in there for the buffet style breakfast at 7:00am when they opened. Then i would have to wait until maybe 7:15 or so. Today i waited until 7:15 and the food still wasn't out. Very disappointing.

Some know it as gourmet garbage. If your okay paying for OVERPRICED non-gourmet items this is your spot. Small variety of foods. The chicken breast is almost always sold out. Fresh produce is limited and outrageously over priced . If you like eggs , look elsewhere unless you want to pay close to 10$ for a dozen. The best part... there is no cashier . You must work for them! And then they ask for payment for a bag. Fin.

On top of everything being over priced and almost expiring, for some reason a white old man felt the need to follow me around. Maybe it was the hoodie or my hair wrapped making it more obvious that I was the only Hispanic in the semi crowded store, either way it's annoying. I walked back and forth, he walked back and forth. I stopped, he stopped and pretended to look at something right next to me. The girl with the black curly hair and glasses at check out was very nice, but this man was disgusting. Try to make your bias a little less noticeable. There's a dorm full of diverse students 2 blocks away, get used to minorities shopping at your store.

I work not too far away so today I took a stroll down Broadway and see that this place is open! Apparently they have been open for a month now. Nice to have a grocery store in this area. It was a bit chilly today, so I opted for soup. But out of the 10 or so options, most had some sort of meat in it or cooked in chicken broth. I ended up getting a small pasta e fagioli and it cost me over $5. Soup was lukewarm and didn't really warm my innards at all, but luckily the sun was out really bright, so I did warm up sitting out in the park. Much of the items in this store are overpriced and not everything is healthy. I think though this place will get a lot of traffic as it is in a good location, but I think I will pass on most lunch days as there are other great options in the area that don't cost an arm and a leg.

As a former worker, the store is amazing and has a great selection. The problem is management the GM Fran is not very open with her cashiers and should be looked at as a manager

I've watched this space for over two years while they readied it to do business. It's a huge, well-stocked store, where you can easily do all your grocery shopping. There's a wide selection of dairy milks and yogurts, including Greek yogurts. There's almost nothing in the way of vegan yogurt here, but I can't say I'm too surprised--based on what they stock at their other stores. They do have a good representation of non-dairy milks--including Califia Farms nut milks and cold-brew coffees. And, fortunately, the full representation of Silk nut-milks, including my favorite, cashew. They have a deli counter, a salad bar with cold and hot foods, and fresh fruits and vegetables are toward the front. There's also a mezzanine area for dining in; I had wondered a lot what kind of place this was going to shape up to be, and it's looking pretty good so far. This store is another reason to avoid WholeMart™, and that makes me happy!

Don't shop at the tribeca location, Manager Fran is rude and very condescending. I can't believe she is still a manager there. I have heard, on numerous occasions how she speaks to the employees and it is not pleasant. I urge upper management to further investigate the employment of Fran. I can assure you that a lot of your customers will leave happier.

This is a great place for nearby dwellers to grab a bite for lunch. I work a few blocks away and frequent here for soup, salads, or something a little unique and quick. The checkout staff is so fast I can barely blink twice before I'm hustled to the front and fussing for cash. This isn't a leisurely place, so don't plan to come here and fumble about - stand off to the side if you're not ready to order and have your cash or card in your hand as soon as you jump in line - those ladies are tossing your card or change back to you within a split second of handing it over... I don't know what wizardry they do but it's amazing when you're looking to be in and out!

2 for $5 dollars; 1 for $2.99. If you buy 3, it would be$5+2.99 so make sure it is even no. Or whatever exact multiples of sale items. Always sth odd discovered in this place.

Whenever I'm in court, Zi make it a point to stop by this location while walking west towards the trains and shops. Their warm mac and cheese is good but they also have several hot soups daily and an array of hot and cold prepared meals. There is a mini coffee bar and a counter to have a quick bite. Today I also purchased organic olive oil from Italy at $9.99 which I thought was a pretty good deal. There is something hipster about Gourmet Garage but I can't pinpoint what it is. Just go. You'll like it.

I came in here to warm up after standing outside Casey Neistat's office hoping that he would come out..I was frozen. From roaming the store, they seem to be packed with goodies. Lots of fresh food and premade daily food. They had cheese samples and of course I helped myself to it. The prices were a bit on the higher end but what do you expect, it's in the city and on Broadway. They had a lot of organic and healthy swag.

Food for preparing is excellent. However lots is in plastic materials and wrapped in plastic. It's like the owners don't know there's a plastic issue in the world and it subsidizes the oil companies. Seems like an easy solution to save 2 cents on products they sell. I'd rather see something like precycle. Also they still use plastic bags and it will be outlawed soon. Great soup! Nice employees.

Amazing place to shop fresh seafood lamb Kobe beef any ingredients for any dinner you could dream to make. I buy my flowers here too.

Was really happy when gourmet garage opened in Tribeca. But after shopping there since then it seems that they buy and sell old stock. Things are often going bad, right on the cusp of expiring or fully spoiled. Not sure what their business model is but old food and juices are really turning me off. I hope they reconsider.

I've been getting lunch here since GG opened. While expensive, the quality and range on offer was great. Since the new management came in, the quality & range has gone through the floor. The salad bar is now awful, no more artichokes, a range of grains etc. There is more of a range at Mon Cher around the corner, and I had stopped eating there when GG opened because Mon Cher was so bad. Likewise the soups now only have one vegetarian option out of 12 - only ever carrot & ginger. There used to be at least 2 or 3, including mixed vegetables. Perhaps meat eaters would be ok, but come on, the place is in TriBeCa, if you're going to charge high prices, at least meet the needs of your clientele, otherwise they will go elsewhere as I am now doing.

My husband got lunch there today when on jury duty. They had several tempting-sounding soups, plus a good selection of sandwiches & sushi and other items. He got a spiced turkey panini ($8.95) and he said it was delicious. Also; the workers were all very friendly, and a few people even asked if he needed any help. Lastly, the place was very clean.

It was a hot Saturday afternoon between 2:15PM to 4:30PM, I was keeping myself cool and I was doing some work on my laptop on the upper loft. I was by myself and I wasn't bothering anyone. I was there for about two hours (there was NO signage posted saying "no loitering" or "only persons who purchase food can be here" or "30/60 min. Limit" ...NONE WHATSOEVER) minding my business and i lost track of time, when all of the sudden, an employee: a young man who works there in his 20's wearing a white coat and had his long, brown hair pulled back in to a bun speaking to me from the first floor store in a very RUDE manner. I didn't get his name. He said something like: "You! you up there, you overstayed your welcome here. Time for you to go." with a mean look on his face, and the cashiers below was snickering afterwards. Mind you, I did nothing wrong to this man or anyone else in that matter. I was embarrassed and uncomfortable. I was keeping cool and doing work on my laptop. THAT WAS IT. Seriously, you should have signs posted that people can't be there for long periods of time or something in that nature. I have worked in the customer service industry for a very long time and you don't speak to customers like that. Never coming back....

I work off W Broadway and often frequent this place for lunch. Though it is typically an expensive grocery? This is such a cheap spot for a lunch. Their sushi specials are around $6-$8. Their salads are typically really good. My favorite and most surprising lunch I've eaten there are the shrimp tacos. I got 2 for $7 and they were pretty good!!! For the price you pay and for how filling, you can't beat this lunch options!

This little store tucked in the middle of a block had a lot of variety! I would love to have a store like this down the street from me! They had about anything a person could think of. We spent longer in here than we meant to, just because they had so much yummy stuff.

Anne B had it right: "Please make Gourmet Garage more 'gourmet' and less 'garage'." I am super sad. Is Shop Rite is trying to turn it into Aldi? Today they replaced all the Bell & Evans chicken with Purdue. All of the Pat LaFrieda hamburger and sausage meat was gone too, replaced by one baffling package of cubed beef. They replaced their good olives with a Safeway-type brand. The beer section is indistinguishable from that in neighboring delis. Etc.

The Checkout girl working #2 so rude. Didn't even speaks or acknowledge I was there. Dropped all my change and didn't also apologize. Then pick up her phone and started texting. Terrible customer service.

Fantastic establishment. Great selection of specialty items and fresh as it can be. From the bakery to cheeses to the San Marzano stamped tomatoes. Wonderful

BEWARE OF FOOD POISONING!!!! I work across the street so this place was a godsend to me when it opened a few months ago. I have eaten here every day (sometimes twice a day) for the last few months. Great selection and just what this hood needs. My review is based on the prepared foods they put out and the torment a roast beef sandwich has brought to my life in the last 24 hours. I ordered said roast beef sandwich yesterday and the hours that ensued after eating that sandwich were some of the worst in my life. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. The prepared foods sit out for hours and hours until they are crusted over. I noticed this a lot so you always have to look for freshness before scooping or ordering. It was never an issue before...I just stayed away from what looked nasty. I have even heard the staff behind the deli counter complaining about how old the food is. I believe there is a much bigger issue here then just some trays of food that have been left out too long. There is a systematic approach to some very unsafe food handling practices. I watch enough Gordon Ramsey Kitchen Nightmares to know that bacteria is nothing to mess around with and people can die from it. It can easily transfer from food to food with bad storage & handling, tainting everything in the kitchen or fridge. My recent bout with food poisoning got me thinking....If they are leaving trays out publicly like that, employees well aware of it, imagine what is going on behind closed doors. I have never gotten sick from a roast beef sandwich before, so something is 100% going on here, but I will never eat something from this store that isn't prepackaged.

I had just started coming in to Gourmet Garage during my lunch breaks, and was thrilled to discover this place. Unfortunately, the staff here is so incredibly rude. The girls at the registers are on their cell phones 90% of the time while a customer is standing right in front of them, no eye contact, and you can barely understand what they're saying. I get that it's the end of the month and moving time, but please look for new apartments on your own time at home, and not at work when someone is trying to pay for their lunch. They're shameless, and don't even try to hide it! Also, there is one particular guy behind the sandwich counter in a white coat that always seems miserable and poor customer service skills. I've almost bumped into him twice while in the store heading to the registers, and both times he didn't say "excuse me" nor did he even look in my direction. I get it, we all have bad days, but I've been in the retail business before and all you have to do is crack a little smile. Customer service really does matter, and I'm not going back. See the other reviews on the cashiers and staff.

Ok guys. Love the store, love the selection, love the location, love the prices, but we have to talk about soup. Specifically, vegetarian options in the soup department. Things used to be better for us non-chicken-stock eaters. I really appreciate that you label all the soup ingredients, but give us a little help here. There is always a new exciting chicken-stock based soup and lately the only veg options are the same 10 Vegetable Soup (which is good but you can only eat so many times in a row) and a lentil something. And then today, the Tomato Bisque was made with chicken stock! That's just not necessary to the recipe! TL;DR- soups are great, but vegetarian options are boring and repetitive.

Good, but not Gourmet. The produce at this market is a highlight. The prepared foods are your typical cafeteria fare, but nothing to write home about. The meats, particularly ground meats, are highly suspect. On more than one occasion an entire dish has been spoiled by bad meat, and a few times I've actually fallen ill. Prices are inconsistent and all over the map. Staff seem untrained and disengaged. For a place that calls itself gourmet, it is lacking quite a few 'essentials' - and except for the produce, the quality doesn't stack up to gourmet standards at all. Still, I'm glad to have a corner grocery in the absence of other options. The convenience will keep me coming back, but there's a lot of room for this place to step up its game.

I live a few blocks away from Gourmet Garage, so I go there out of convenience, but never again. This is the fourth time I've purchased food that was ALREADY EXPIRED and spoiled.

Good and clean supermarket in Tribeca. Prices are pretty pricey, but that's to be expected for the area and this chain grocery store. Great selection of prepared food items with a lot of different cuisines to choose from. There are always at least 6 soup options, sushi is always fresh and plentiful, and the salad bar is quite large and always well kept. Produce section is decent and there is even a small fish department. Large beer and snack selection. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I would definitely return.

Was so incredibly excited the past two years for this place to FINALLY open its doors. I work upstairs. So duh. Going to be honest. I walked in here and was totally shocked. It's a full fledged grocery store. Produce, meat, flowers, baking supplies. They've got it all. What I'm not so psyched about: the prepared foods :( They don't make breakfast sandwiches like a typical deli, and the provided breakfast is a one star. I got a mix of eggs and egg whites and had to ask my uber driver to pull over near a garbage so I could toss it. It tasted like some sort of weird chemical had been sprayed over it. Totally inedible. The soups are pretty stellar but the egg/chicken salads and over priced and oh-so mayonaisey. Staff is amazing.

I am concerned about the new - interim - manager at Gourmet Garage. He has accused a long-time employee of stealing and fired her. He is "investigating" another employee who has been there for 20 years. Something has gone very wrong under his watch. I have shopped at the Soho and now Tribeca locations for years. Waited a long time for the Tribeca store to open because I live nearby. While the groceries can be variable (produce) and prices high, the staff have always been outstanding. The whole team worked together well and ran the store well. I have gotten to know some of them personally. The young woman who was accused/fired (I won't use her name because I don't think she would want me to) was absolutely solid - a hardworking single mother whose own mother is recovering from cancer after a long battle. This young woman is of outstanding character, very professional (and not that this is defining but I also believe she is a practicing Christian). This terrific young woman has now been fired by someone new to the store who doesn't know her and doesn't know the other staff. The fact that he is now investigating another longstanding employee (a single father, by the way) who is intelligent, kind, responsible - again, very professional) suggests that the train is off the tracks. It is also clearly killing morale at a store that used to have a really good atmosphere -- proud, dignified, positive, friendly. There are wonderful people still working there who are now in fear for their jobs -- during a pandemic!!! I hope the new owners of the company will look more closely at who they have given this kind of authority to. They have made a mistake. And I am not the only customer who thinks so. We shop there out of loyalty to the great staff - if they're gone, I'll just go to Trader Joe's instead. I am very upset about these developments. Terrible. I'm giving one star to honor the young woman who was terminated. I'll hold off on any more until the situation there improves.

I moved into the neighborhood last March and have been eagerly awaiting the opening of this store. This is the only food store within a ten minute walk vicinity so am very pleased to have the option not to buy my avocados at the drug store! Is far so good. Love the cheese selection (with very beautifully curated display perfect for your perfectly curated cheese tray) salads and sushi. Staff are pretty nice too! On the downside- I don't like the macaroni salad and soups. But all in all just delighted it's finally here!!!!

I work right across the street and often stop by to get lunch there. Sadly I just found a few plastic wraps inside my sushi rolls (see the pic) Lucky I didn't chock on it! I don't think I will buy it from them again.

So glad their new location is open! The other location they have up the road in SoHo is standing room only where you literally have to wiggle in between everyone grabbing their lunch. Thankfully the new Broadway store has plenty more space to move around, and even has a seating area up on the 2nd floor. In terms of what sets Gourmet Garage apart, it's the soup bar. About a dozen different types of soup that seem to rotate daily, all a notch above what you will find in most other delis. My favorite is the turkey chili, with the chicken pot pie soup a close second. There's also a good chicken and sausage jambalaya that occasionally makes its way into the rotation that is quite good. Only thing I don't like about this location is their sandwiches, the deli meat is sliced way too thick on all the sandwiches I've ever gotten there.

I like the store the food is ok but the check out women are so nasty and rude and have an attitude.

So glad that this area finally has a full-fledged grocery store, especially since the 24-hour deli/mart across the street recently closed. It's a little on the pricey side, but it's the compromise to convenience. Though, it's not as pricey as Whole Foods. The variety of items here is also a huge plus. Every time I go, I notice something that I'm surprised to see - lots of cultural goods.
