Stopped in passing through town and we had the best experience. The food was absolutely delicious- unique yet still familiar favorites. The server was super nice and I’m sad I will probably never be back in this part of the country to eat there again, but if I ever am it would be my first stop.

Google
We love it here so much. We come almost weekly and have never been disappointed. The service is excellent, it’s very affordable, and most importantly the food is delicious! Most recently got the teriyaki beef and and green curry soup. Every meal comes with tea, as well!

Google
I went to try this restaurant because Google suggested it. I'm so glad I did. The service is awesome. Friendly and helpful staff that greet you with a smile. The food is beyond delicious. I have to say hands down its worth it. The prices are reasonable and it's BYOB.

Google
The food and the variety, is tremendous! Old-school pan-Asian, great service, and, kind of a dingy-esque, atmosphere. But, it's a neighborhood place, busy, and, in that vein, a standard! The Thai lemongrass chicken and the Ma Chi Phenom- Phen, are my favorite dishes!!!

Google
Gourmet house on hope street is great. Big portions, family style serving. My favorite is the nime chow and the crispy jalapeño wings.

Google
My family and I have been coming here for a while now and it never fails to amaze us!!! The service at this restaurant is spectacular and the food always comes out amazing! Highly recommend the me kathung, lort cha, cha kreung (the cut wings), and the lobster curry. This place will always be a go to for our family and almost everything hits the spot.

Google
Great authentic Asian food. We have been here many times and always have a tremendous meal. Feeling negative is the service always seems to be running away from you versus trying to meet your needs. They appear overworked.

Google
We went there a few weeks ago from the suggestion of a neighboring restaurant to try. After just eating at the other restaurant. We stopped in quickly just to take a look. We ordered sticky wing's and Crab ragoon to go. Were delicious. Went again yesterday, was pleasantly busy but not overly. Was seated right away the place by no means isn't modern but was definitely cleaner then the last restaurant who suggested coming here. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Everything was fresh and hot. We ordered from the lunch menu and the portion size looked liked dinner. Plenty of food options. Found our new spot. !!! Well worth the ride.

Yelp
I have never had a bad meal at this restaurant! It has been there for years. I have often gotten takeout from this restaurant and also often eaten there. I have nothing but good things to say. The service is fast and the wait staff is very attentive. They bring a pot of tea at the beginning and will refill it and don't charge for it. I've had a great many items on the menu And have no complaints, and it is extremely reasonable considering the location. There is on street parking. They don't have a liquor license but you can bring your own liquor. The spring rolls and nime Chow are excellent, as are the Chinese eggrolls. The fried pork ravioli are excellent as well. The chicken wings Thai garlic are unbelievably good. The pad Thai is very good, as are all of the chef specialties. I have had a great many of their entrées and never was unhappy with what I got. It is a huge menu. the food is from Southeast Asia but they have some American Chinese dishes. If you are on a budget, they have an incredibly reasonable lunch deal which is a huge plate of food. There's a choice of a lot of entrées with your choice of rice and then a choice of eggroll or crab Rangoon, there may be more that I've forgotten. At the moment it's $7.75 at lunch on weekdays and $8.75 on the weekend and holidays. There are some dinner specials for $10 or $12 depending that are an entrée with a choice of rice. Their brown rice is very good, too.

Yelp
Ordered grub hub as I'm sick. Food was prepared quickly and I like that they always staple the bag so it can't be tampered with. Wonton soup is always my go to fave; especially when I'm sick. Delicate, flavorful broth with pea pods and pork wontons are perfect. Cambodian eggrolls always hit with the crunch and my son's fave request here. Tried the ck lomein here for the first time as my son requested and it was great. Moist, flavorful, with some veggies thrown in.. not too heavy. Will order again.

Yelp
We keep returning to this restaurant regularly for three reasons: one the food is good, The place is pleasant and it's inexpensive (and one can bring one own booze. The two of us ordered scallion pancakes, dumplings and a noodle dish - all of which were delicious. We also ordered some chicken on a stick (chicken sauté) which was not good and we won't order it again. (I took off half a star because of that.) We like the restaurant itself as there is room to spread out and converse, which is not true of many other restaurants. The service is fast and efficient and our server pleasant as ever. Can't get better value for money: we ate for about 20 dollars per person. And there were leftovers- almost another meal for the next day!

Yelp
I'm not gonna sugar coat this. I've been to the Gourmet House twice this week just to make sure I wasn't going kooky. The Summer Rolls were outstanding! The peanut sauce was very light, but very tasty. I am sorry I did not take a photo of them. Lemon grass, chicken wings are what brought me back a few days later. It's a Coconut based sauce with Lemon Grass and Peanuts. Never in my life have I ever tasted anything so delicious. 100% the best I've ever had, EVER! We actually asked them if we could buy a side of the sauce to go, and they did. The spare ribs were very good, definitely not fall off the bone, but very flavorful. I was dragging the ribs through the lemon grass sauce, yes it's that good. Service is always very good, and does not matter what you order, it comes out hot and fresh. There many items on the menu that not I have to go back for and try. Ambiance, it very cool and bright inside. I love the mural on the ceiling. It's like you're sitting outside on a sunny day. We will be back there very soon.

Yelp
I loved this place when take out. And went in for dinner one day, it was absolutely amazing!! All food was super delicious and good portions. I especially loved the beef stew and Cambodian style paid Thai. The service was so quick and friendly. I like the decorations inside. Definitely will keep going back!!

Yelp
I usually go next door to Apsara but this place is equally amazing. Great food, sweetest people, basically an institution in pvd at this point

Yelp
hands down the best pho & authentic food ever! Gourmet House is a hidden that will not disappoint!! Affordable & generous portions, great tea, boba & sake. Honestly am surprised that not more people know about this restaurant, it's clearly been thriving on word of mouth - as the restaurant business front looks like it could be closed, but nope - amazing food & service. Not to mention the interior decor is stunning as well!!

Yelp
My first time here. Having a new place is relatively easy but find the right place, the right food, the right price range can be hard. I consulted my fellow Yelp! Elites to tell me about any place for lunch... and here I am with a good friend. The ambiance and outside is understated. You will not be wowed or dazzled with the shining interior. The Cambodian theme decor and the display of Buddha alter tells me right away that this place is a real deal. One you enter, you are immediately greeted by the host and staff, and told choose any any seats. This was a Friday lunch time. It was not really busy but saw steady stream of people coming in. The menu is a mix of Vietnamese, Cambodian and Thai. What I coveted was a Cambodian food - they did not disappoint. I will have to come back here again other Cambodian and Thai dishes.

Yelp
Got take out. Amazing!! 10/10 always. Got wonton soup, garlic thai wings and fried rice.

Yelp
It was a freezing cold night and we cancelled our 3 nights of lights in Providence and chose Gourmet House as our take out consolation meal. The serving sizes were ample and the General Tso chicken was great, The chicken fingers were up to par and also plentiful. I ordered the steam chive dumplings, a favorite of mine, I wished it came with spicy oil, my heart would have sung! The Crab Rangoon was too sweet for my taste but very crisp. Nothing was so exciting or stood out as exemplary, but instead was steady, palatable, and filling. If you're looking for old school Chinese/American food , Gourmet House will fit the bill.

Yelp
Hands down, the worst Chinese food I have EVER eaten. The nime chow and accompanying sauce were completely flavorless. Likewise for the home style steamed tofu with Chinese broccoli. Bland and unappealing. The eggplant and green beans in garlic sauce were both swimming in a pool of greasy, sweet liquid that completely drowned out the vegetables' flavors. What was supposed to be kung pao chicken did not resemble that dish in the slightest way. They added vegetables (there aren't any in this dish), there were no peanuts (an essential ingredient) and the sauce lacked any of the kung pao flavors. They made the dish "spicy" by throwing a tablespoon of hot pepper flakes on top. Overall, an utter failure. This was a takeaway dinner for 4. We all agreed it was inedible and threw it in the trash.

Yelp
Fantastic huge menu. From Thai, Cambodian, and Chinese. Excellent soups and appetizers loved the ribs and shrimp with garlic sauce. Very reasonable prices, a real bargain!

Yelp
this is one of those reviews that doesn't need a lot of detail. just trust me and go. generous portions, amazing flavor, accommodating to dietary restrictions, consistent, sweet servers, and flexible vibes. could be a casual date, could be a group or family, could be solo, could be takeout. just come and eat. it's so good i'm up late dreaming about the noodles and the perfectly stir fried steak.

Yelp
I love this restaurant. My husband and I have come here for years and always found something delicious to to eat. There are many choices on the menu all made very well. The prices are quite moderate. I definitely recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Lindsey P.

Yelp
Really great food and service!! Consistently good quality. One of my favorite restaurants. They also serve a hot pot of tea complementary which is becoming harder to find.
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
I have been here multiple times and it always impresses. The staff was awesome as ever specifically the hostess. Love her!! And the owner was our server who is totally full of great suggestions. The Bong Rah rice was from the Specials of the night. The Chinese sausage adds a sweet flavor which contrasts with the savory flavor. My favorite is the black pepper wings- a great taste. The whole meal and service was great!! This place is definitely still worth it - as always.
google avatar

Vanessa G.

Yelp
I love this place! Amazing staff and the food is great! Place so convenient to where I work and for a casual lunch/dinner.

Lindsay M.

Yelp
I stopped in for a quick dinner before a local event. Was promptly served a complimentary pot of tea! I had the Cambodian Delicate soup, and it was delicious. Very large portion, generous with the protein, just the right amount of spice. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Melanie T.

Yelp
I really love Chinese food and have been looking all over for a good restaurant since moving here from out of state in August. I hate posting lower reviews but this really wasn't very good. I ordered General Tso's chicken and the flavor just wasn't there, and the side and fried rice was just poorly cooked. My husband had a shrimp dish which he was extremely displeased with and he also didn't eat his rice. The crab Rangoon appetizer was heavy on cream cheese and that was the best part. I'm super sorry to say we won't go back.
google avatar

Vijay S.

Yelp
I had lunch here recently. We got the nime chow, black pepper wings, drunken noodles and Tom yum soup. The nime chow and wings were amazing. The drunken noodles and Tom yum soup were okay, nothing to write home about. The bubble tea was quite sweet. Overall it was a good experience. The prices are reasonable and cheap compared to similar places. Service was very good.
google avatar

Yelp
What a deal!!! During the weekends, they have a luncheon $6.75 special ($5.75 during the week) where you have a bunch of tasty choices for your mains, appetizer and rice.  I got the L21 crispy eggplant satay with awesome chicken, crab rangoon and fried rice. It was The satay (peanut) sauce was so tasty and how can you go wrong with some crab rangoons.  Awesome deal, I'll be back!
google avatar

Angy M.

Yelp
TAKE- OUT ORDER ($8.75 lunch wknd price) First time coming here and liked it enough to probably order again. Here are my thoughts: L3 - Lemongrass sauce shrimp. This dish unfortunately had WAYYYY too much steamed rice. As you can see from my pictures, the portion of shrimp is almost non-existent so I definitely felt ripped off here. The shrimp itself was tasty but a bit chalky so I'd probably ask for gluten free in the future. L21 - Gourmet House eggplant satay with chicken. This dish was pretty good! I mean there's a reason why it's popular. Though a smidge salty, I'd have to say it was my favourite. Chinese eggplant is used and the chicken is slightly crispy (like you'd get for a sesame chicken). L26 - Chicken and shrimp pineapple stir fry. Not bad! More on the drier side but definitely worth a try. Chicken came sliced instead of fried. Honestly, I wanted to "go wild" and try dishes I hadn't tasted before at a place I'd never eaten from. I wasn't totally blown away by the dishes but I think that if I go with just the main plates instead of the combos next time (which might come with 80% rice) I'll be good to go! I'll definitely give this place another try/maybe try dining in :)

Yelp
Amazing food for great price. Feels a little odd inside, but don't let that deter you from the great food they have here!
google avatar

Vanessa B.

Yelp
Deeellliiiicciiioouuuuuussssss. So good so good. Only thing I wasn't a fan were the dumplings. They reminded me of pot stickers but honestly with how everything else was will absolutely order again. The crispy garlic wings should be illegal from how good they were. The Cambodian spring rolls-ammazzzing ! The pad Thai was super chops and very generous with the sides and portion. For all of this we only paid 27$. Not bad. The inside decor was nice, simple and clean. I think it's a BYOB place but not tooo sure.
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
Great restaurant! Every time I go I try something new and it's always delicious. They have a HUGE menu so there's something for everyone. Chicken nim chow is my absolute favorite, comes with two pieces cut in have. Portions are huge and the prices are low!

David O.

Yelp
Good food, the service is quick and polite, the prices are pretty decent for the area. The ambiance could use some sprucing up, kinda tight quarters in the sense sitting close , but overall a good place to grab a bite to go.
google avatar

Scott D.

Yelp
Quite possibly the best pan-Asian food in Providence. Perfect nime-chow. Thai spicy chicken wings rule. Amazingly light and crunchy crab rangoons. Try the Thai entree salads... best with shrimp. And the Hunan duck is well worth the splurge. The lemongrass chicken or tofu never disappoints. Beef with black mushroom is another winner. Very pleasant decor and lovely attentive staff. If you can't tell... we're regulars. Try these dishes and you will soon be too!
google avatar

Sara M.

Yelp
Gourmet House became our go-to during the pandemic and hasn't disappointed us. Everything is tasty, but our favorites are the nime chow, pad Thai, chicken teriyaki, drunken noodles and chicken lemongrass. Dine in and take out are both good options.
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
Delicious and extremely reasonable! Ordered hot and sour soup, nime chow and pad Thai. All great and big portions too. So glad I found this fine place and will be back soon!
google avatar

Emily L.

Yelp
You really can't beat Gourmet House's prices and quality of food. It was around $7-8 for each plate and it was super filling & so delicious. I would definitely come back again if I'm ever in the area for a quick lunch. I would want to try other lunch specials if I can :)

Yelp
I've heard a lot about this spot but had never had an opportunity to try it until recently. I met a friend for dinner. I arrived first, as is my habit. I was seated immediately immediately and staff checked on me several times to make sure I didn't want to order an appetizer while waiting. They brought me a pot of hot tea and menus, which was a nice gesture. The ambiance is casual and comfortable. There is no liquor available. Service was excellent. Once my friend arrived and we were caught up, we perused the exhaustively enormous menu! After much consideration, we both ordered the Hot & Soup soup. It was amazingly delicious. I had the dinner combo with General Tao's Chicken and my friend ordered the dinner combo featuring Pineapple Chicken and Shrimp. Both dishes were generous and flavorful. We each took home leftovers. With a menu that size, I'll most definitely visit again to try some of the other offerings.
google avatar

Kim V.

Yelp
Came here because my friend kept raving about it. The first time we attempted to come here years ago, it was so packed we left before we sat. Finally, we were able to get a table there. It's a byob spot so bring your own booze. I ordered the lort(lot) dish which is a fried egg roll dish with taro, noodles, and pork. Next, I ordered the pataya rice noodles which is a stir fried flat wide rice noodles with chicken, curry flour, pea pods, carrots, and onions. This dish was delicious! I wanted something Cambodian and that I can't get where I live in Florida. This dish was flavorful with the perfect balance of meat, rice noodles, and vegetables. My sister ordered the pad Thai, she said it was alright. My brother ordered the Cantonese noodles which were similar to my dish. Overall, we had a good experience and the food was great.
google avatar

Sarah S.

Yelp
Dish filled with shrimps poop and was informed their new chef doesn't clean or prep shrimp. Traumatized by the experience I just had. I've ordered here multiple times and everything was fabulous but today they not only forgot one of my entire orders but I got the Cambodian shrimp salad and the entire dish was filled with black shrimp poop. I called the restaurant to express my discomfort and the women told me how they have a new cook "WHO DIDNT KNOW THEY ARE SUPPOSE TO CLEAN AND PREP THE SHRIMP" so when I tell you literally every shrimp has a long black poop string it was appalling and disgusting. They lost a loyal customer today. Please reconsider going here. Oh they also forgot my chicken Nime chow completely so then I had absolutely no food to eat. I'd give them a zero if I could.

Yelp
Best on Hope Street! You cannot ask for fresher, cleaner and tastier Asian food unless you travel to Boston or NYC
google avatar

Julie L.

Yelp
My friend is a regular at Gourmet House and raves about the food. We were treated like royalty. This was my first visit. We started with Nime Chow; the presentation was excellent and they tasted better. I wanted to start with a classic and had the Thai style Pad Thai with shrimp. Huge portion and delicious. The decor is pleasing and the waitstaff was terrific. They made great recommendations.
google avatar

Michelle C.

Yelp
Their food is always good, and once in awhile I get adventurous. Usually it works out, but this week I tried one of my favorites, shrimp in lobster sauce. I won't order it again. It was awful. Almost 75% water chestnuts, a FEW shrimp, very little sauce. Big mistake on my part.

John C.

Yelp
Delicious hot soup on a cold evening. Wonderful service and plentiful food choices! Don't forget the Nime Chow, great starter!
google avatar

Shamir P.

Yelp
Wanted to try this restaurant for quite some time. Most of their business is takeout so we were the only people in the restaurant. We were seated fast and the server was super nice. We ordereds the scallion pancake for appitzer and the tofu pho for dinner. You really can't screw up scallion pancake. The tofu pho was above average.
google avatar

Jackie O.

Yelp
The food here is really, really good. Ridiculously large portions (which is okay sometimes but it really just leads to food waste). Super fresh veggies unlike other places. Great quality for a really good price. Their General Tso's chicken is so damn good. It's perfectly battered and fried and just a bit spicy (but if you bite into a chili it's very spicy!) Their fried rice is delicious--perfectly seasoned & fresh. And the best spring rolls I've ever had are from here. Definitely my go-to when I'm craving any of the above. But the menu is extensive so it does not end there. Bonus: fast & friendly service.
google avatar

Lauren M.

Yelp
I read great reviews of Gourmet House so we decided to give it a shot for lunch today. Delivery was as expected and the food arrived hot. We were both underwhelmed by our dishes. The sesame chicken was in a light sauce rather than a darker sauce. The fried rice was odd with what looked like frozen peas and carrots in it. My husband's cashew chicken lacked chicken and flavor. Also, the soy sauce had no soy in it; it was basically sugar water if you look at the ingredients. Given other choices, I don't think we would order from there again.
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
The food here is excellent. Everything is fresh. Huge portions and prices are so cheap! We got the lunch special with chicken lo mein/General toas chicken and the beef lo mein, steamed dumplings for an app. None chow is great here too. We've been here a few times and everything was great. And it's BYOB which is awesome.
google avatar

Jas J.

Yelp
I used to love dining in at Gourmet House prior to Covid. I was a huge fan of their BYOB policy and the food specifically the crispy calamari and pad see ew. There wasn't an item ordered that wasn't made with love. I've had the drunken noodles, lort noodles, crispy chicken wings and so much more (and loved it all). That was until Sunday night, when my family and I ordered take out. We got: Mongolian Beef- the beef was very soft and thrown together sloppily with too many onions and green peppers. Noodles in a Cantonese Sauce- the only semi decent dish ordered; tasted like saucy lo mein and chow mein had a child. I wouldn't order again but it was the only item anyone wanted seconds of. Beef Pad See Ew - bland rice noodles, no sear, char, I would be surprised if it were prepared in a wok. The noodles were clunky and dry. Crispy Salt and Pepper Calamari-the batter tasted oddly sweet, not fried long enough, with minimal salt and pepper seasoning. I completely understand that Covid has made owning a restaurant difficult but during these tough times mediocrity will get you no where. Due to my prior patronage I choose Gourmet House but I regret not trying Aspara next door.
google avatar

Monica P.

Yelp
Great spot for really good Asian food. It's basically the same menu as Apsara next door with slightly better quality, although I love both places. Super casual place to dine in and it's BYOB. You get a lot of food for a really affordable price which is great. I love the crispy Thai wings, literally my favorite wings ever! Other notable favorites are the nime chow, pad thai, and fried rice, but really I don't think you can go wrong with anything you get here. The many is huge, so lots to choose from. All in all a great spot for good Asian food at a super affordable price.

Yelp
Eh...I was hopeful to try another take-out spot in my neighborhood and this was recommended by someone. This review is based solely on my take out experience. I ordered online (Grubhub is their vendor) and when I went to place the order, I was quoted at 30 minutes until deliver. As time went on, it kept getting pushed up until finally it was 90 minutes past my order time and the food was finally ready for a delivery. Shortly after I was tracking the driver, the restaurant called me and they forgot to include one of our dishes in the pickup. Someone drove there and picked it up (you'd think maybe they'd comp it?!) When we did settle in to eat...I ordered General's Chicken. It was really dry, clearly frozen, cooked, frozen again and re-cooked. I barely choked down 3 pieces. The sauce was nothing special. The sticky rice was like a brick. My friends dishes seemed "fine". I'd recommend other places if you're looking for take out.
google avatar

Kenya G.

Yelp
Dinner was amazing! I can say I loved it. The atmosphere was simple and traditional feeling. As soon as you get there they give you delicious tea rather than the bitter black tea a lot of places give. We ordered this beef rice noodles dish and the combination cantanese style flat rice noodles with a side of chicken fingers. The chicken fingers were a little over cooked and the chicken was tough but the noodle dishes were phenomenal. There were so many vegetables which I loved and the portions were huge. The food even looked beautiful! The best part it was only $23... amazing!! I will definitely be back

Rodney O.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The crispy black pepper chicken wings are 10/10 as well as the shrimp fried rice and spring rolls. This is my go to spot whenever I'm in the area.
google avatar

Katie M.

Yelp
Flavorless. This restaurant used to be a staple of mine. I've ordered multiple times in the past few months and it's consistently been flavorless and seemed to be thrown together.
google avatar

Camille M.

Yelp
I ordered Udon noodles w Chinese broccoli and shrimp, medium spicy. It was outrageously delicious, I'm obsessed with Udon noodles (the worst is overcooking them), and these are cooked perfectly.as is the Chinese Broccoli, still bright green and crispy.. The sauce is so good, light but super flavorful. Also ordered String Beans Lemongrass with shrimp, medium spicy and a side of sticky rice. Again, the string beans and shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the sauce was amazing. I so utilized my sticky rice in dabbing every last drop of it. I think they have the best sticky rice! I love that the food here isn't greasy nor overly salty...you can eat healthfully and deliciously. Service is excellent too.

Yelp
Went here for lunch a few weeks ago. Nice little spot but parking can be a hassle - mainly on street parking. I ordered the spicy wings lunch combo and it came with fried rice and a nime chow (very nice touch!) My bf ordered a beef lunch combo dish (can't remember the name) that came with fried rice and an eggroll. Also ordered a hot and sour soup and honeydew bubble tea. Overall, food came out very quickly and was was tasty. For what you paid, I think they skimped a little on the bubble tea, seemed a little light of a pour. Def would come back bc I prefer Southeast Asian vs Chinese so this is a great option.
