The Government's connection to the "White Gov. Cards for the Ederly. But you still will need the EBT Card and some cash money. It's not just, fruits & veggies to purchase!

This is my first trip to the Govans farmers' market around 4pm July 18, 2024. It was closed. I don't know what was happened. When I check on the web site, it says will open from 3-6pm.

My contention is that the two produce stands -fruit and veggies are not adequate. Most folk wait for long periods to get crabs. The veggie stand provide veggies that have aged and not fresh. The only fruit stand's fare is a tad better.

Very nice place, helpful for people. Attract more farmers there to have more products.

Yelp
This market is wonderful, not only because of it's fantastic vendors and selection, but also because of its mission. This part of York Road is actually in a 'food desert', meaning that it is hard for the people who live in the area to have access to fresh produce and other healthy options. The Govanstowne Market manages to shrink that desert each Wednesday June-September with a range of fresh produce, meats, baked goods, desserts as well as craft and educational vendors. The market accepts cash or credit as well as payments such as EBT, WIC, SNAP, SFMNP, etc. In my Junior and Senior year summers at Loyola (the market is in a parking lot on Loyola's campus) I would frequent the market to get my fresh produce, try out other goodies and relax with members of the community. Even now, though it is difficult for me to get there on time as I no longer live in the city, I still try to go back a few times per year to support it. What's better than a local non-profit which helps local people support their local farms & small businesses???

Yelp
I love farmer's markets. And this one is right down the street, so it's perfect for me. It's also small, but not in the you don't have any choices small, more in the you can get everything you want and are not bombarded with people, children and dogs.
