The location and what they offered on the menu says it all. You got billiards 🎱, a great bar, 🍣 sushi raw bar. . Food was excellent. Will return again. The water 💧 here was excellent for drinking... the bartender stated they have a triple filter osmosis setup... when asked...

Google
This place was an unexpected win! From the outside, it looks like your usual tourist trap beach restaurant that happens to be historic, but it isn't. I was ready to completely ignore it and go find something else, but then I spotted a sign about ramen and had to check it out, and wow am I glad I did! Note: I understand that some regulars are disappointed in the transformation from former dive bar to sleeper hit upscale restaurant. I get that; I can only speak to what I experienced as a newbie. Atmosphere: Dark wood, dim lights, live music that wasn't too loud or obstructive. Food: Excellent. They weren't kidding about their ramen; it really is good. The broth was rich and flavorful and the noodles had great texture. The pork belly was perfectly cooked and richly flavored. Drinks: I don't recall what we had but the drinks were good. Nothing super exciting here. Service: Quick, efficient, unobtrusive but attentive. Prices: Not cheap, but not crazy expensive. I'm used to DC prices, so things have to be pretty stupid before they raise my eyebrows.

Food and drinks were excellent. Service was extremely attentive. This is definitely more of a $40-$50/person restaurant, but the quality was beyond par. The oysters were large and fresh. Every appetizer and entree was delicious and well-plated. For appetizers we ordered the corn ribs, oysters, codtsu, and for entrees we ordered two sushi rolls, the pork belly, salmon, and chicken bao. We’d recommend all the dishes we ordered. This restaurants deserves more than it’s 4-star rating.

Google
I am a local and have not gone to The Governor Bradford for dinner in years. My husband and I and some friends went a few weeks ago and the food was amazing. It was probably the best Thai food that I had on the cape. I would highly recommend it if you’re looking for good Thai restaurant. I heard they have a new chef and he is doing a great job.

Google
ok... first of all, apparently this place is owned by the same person who owns a great bar in Brookline, MA. So when I realized that, I was excited! The food and service was great, but my FAVORITE food of the WHOLE weekend was the CORN RIBS on the appetizers!! Seriously if you go here, you have to get them! They're like street corn on crack!! We got them as an appetizer, but I literally would have been happy with a whole 'nother plate of them for dinner. Plus, the patio was a great vibe, next to the main road but separated by plants, lights and a fence. (PS dog friendly patio but we didn't have our pup with us on this trip - he needed to sleep!)

Always a good time at the governor Bradford in p-town karaoke nights. So many good memories. So many good people. Absolutely love it

Google
I got the green papaya salad and it was good but had zero heat. I had the "No left turns" cocktail, which was great. We came for the karaoke, and had a blast. My favorite place in Ptown.

Google
Posting this because we had the best waiter ever in existence on a Saturday night! Justin was adorable, fun, and full of fun! We promised to come back when he was serving on Sunday but unfortunately we had to make our way back home early. He truly made this quick off-season weekend trip a fun and memorable occasion.

Yelp
Service: was quick and staff were friendly and happy Ambiance : nice and chill Food : took the pork chiasu ( loved it in my home country)- was happy to be able to eat it at a nice place. Plus, it is served in a baguette.

Yelp
This is THE best spot in Ptown all year round. For food - they have great Japanese food with some American flare. highlights of the meal: Asparagus whiskers (yum with egg on top) corn ribs (amazing and saucy!!) chicken bao buns (crispy and perfect) pork gyoza (solid and flavorful) broccoli (great sauce with crispy onions) tots (nacho-esque, greasy in a good way) fried rice (super tasty - huge portion we split) sushi (not sure which rolls my bf got but he loved them - ronin I believe) **tons of vegetarian options Aside from the food, the bar is also great. summers they have drag karaoke every night. off season, it is weekends only. get there early to put your name down! awesome vibes and good crowds that sing along. if not karaoke, they have live music too pretty often. Pool table usually doesn't have a long wait and it's FREE! full bar with great drinks - they'll make you what you ask for and give good recommendations. service is awesome too, from dinner to bartenders to bouncers. Love this spot, ALL people are welcome :)

Yelp
We went to Governor Bradford restaurant on a Friday night with a reservation. This was our first time in Provincetown and the menu caught our attention. The menu and the atmosphere of the restaurant aren't what you'd expect. The restaurant gave the vibe of an old Irish pub, but the menu screams modern Japanese fusion. We sat outside and ordered a few small dishes. The asparagus was a bit spicy. The gyoza was good, but I felt like there was too much ginger in it. I enjoyed the kimchi. I was disappointed with the wagyu smash. It was a bit overcooked and lacked flavor. It was similar to grabbing a burger from a fast food restaurant. Maybe next time we'll try the sushi. Since we had sushi the night before at another restaurant , we didn't want to order sushi again.
google avatar

Becci S.

Yelp
I got California roll - dry. She got Hot Mess roll - too saucy. He got The tuna poke bowl - was good. Other He got the Sea Dog and fancy fries and he said they were so so. The beer was cold. Service was ok. Probably not known for their food menu.

Yelp
Service was good! Cool dimly lit restaurant with a bar. Pool table, live music, bar, patio seating and TV's. I had the Onigiri. Very cool presentation. Good flavor but a little light in the lobster compared to all the rice.
google avatar

Anita S.

Yelp
Service and ambiance were great. Hamachi and oysters were delicious. Cesar salad had an overwhelming smoked fish taste while the chicken bao could have used a little more spice. Manhattan was delicious . Homemade kimchi is one of the best I've had.
google avatar

Bella T.

Yelp
This place is always fun. The bartenders make great drinks, it can sometimes get rowdy, and they even have karaoke and live music during certain evenings. Whenever I'm bar hopping in the area, I make sure to stop in with my friends.
google avatar

Monalisa H.

Yelp
We ordered a couple of things from the menu - clam chowder, bao buns, salad, salmon, sushi etc. We absolutely loved everything as it was fresh and delicious and was served by attentive wait staff. Definitely underrated on here but I am so glad the one opposite this one had a long wait-list.

Yelp
I've nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. We stopped in for an early dinner after going on a Whale Watching excursion. It was not busy because it was late afternoon. The woman who seated us told my four-year-old grandson that if he wanted to play with the balls on the pool table that he could because no one else was there. I thought that was very nice of her. All of the stuff was very friendly. Everyone that stopped at the table engaged with the children.. Service was great. The food was decent. A little pricey for what it was but nothing crazy.

Yelp
The new Gov Bradford is amazing! The food was super good and came out really fast. The menu is elevated now and you still get to enjoy the old bar ambiance. Ivelina was our server and she was excellent! Super friendly and knowledgeable on the menu. Get the bahn mix with the gov Bradford fries you won't regret it
google avatar

Cordelia R.

Yelp
Still feels like the old Governor Bradford in some ways which is good - was concerned that the new owners would completely strip all of its old charm but that's not the case so far! Seems like now it's the same old place but with some new furniture and a new and delicious menu. We've come twice over two years and the food continues to be excellent. Service was also great!
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
A quick bite to eat, Squiddy wanted to try this place for years. We were surprised to find it was an Asian fusion menu. The place definitely gives an American pub vibe, like old school New England fish and chips pub. Menu threw us off, but we found some great small bites. Fries, grilled shrimp, miso soup and edamame along with a couple of beers. I enjoyed the Rothaus Pilsner and Squid had zero gravity lager. We enjoyed the food and service. Super friendly fly, willing to engage in conversation and offer recommendations.
google avatar

Austin T.

Yelp
Excellent food, good service, and nice outdoor patio. We were in kind of a rush, so I didn't get much of a "full experience" here, but everything was great. The chowder and oyster roll were awesome! I'd highly recommend stopping by this place!

Andrew S.

Yelp
Menu close to incomprehensible unless you're an expert in "Japanese Fusion" whatever that is. But the waiter was super patient and helpful and the dish I had was delicious. All in all, great but a bit tryhard,
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
Great food and service, though the sushi was slow. They clearly need more staff behind the sushi bar

P J.

Yelp
Had a great dinner and night at Governor Bradford this past Saturday. Great food but even better service. Fun atmosphere, eclectic menu and great beer list. A definite go to when in Provincetown. A big shout out to Jackie, she's the frikkin best!

Thatonwthicc H.

Yelp
Finishing my meal felt like a breakup. #i miss you. Please for the love of god eat here

Pamela M.

Yelp
Fun place and they have karaoke. That said you have to pay attention to what the bartenders charge you for a beer. On a recent visit I twice ordered a beer posted on the board for $9. The first bartender said $10 and the second charged even more. I didn't fuss over the extra dollar or two but it's definitely the sort of thing that will harsh your stoke and these guys are definitely never going to see my credit card.

Nathaniel B.

Yelp
Ignore all the whiners that have left irrelevant bad reviews about not having ID. Best beer selection on Cape Cod, by far. Hill Farmstead on tap and bottles of Cantillon. Some (most) people have no idea what they have there. The menu is more progressive and foodie friendly than most anywhere else in Ptown. Corn ribs, oyster steamed buns, anything with nduja butter... Smoky cocktails, nice wine list... So good. I do think the kitchen might struggle at times to deliver on the progressiveness of the menu. But this place is still THE sit down spot in Ptown for beer lovers and foodies in search of something more interesting than the tourist spots.

Eddy C.

Yelp
Best sushi in town! So fresh, so good! Service is excellent. The ambience is great.
google avatar

Karen L.

Yelp
There was a drag show going on the night my friends and I went and the vibes were great! The fried oyster bao was delicious and so was the clam chowder. I also convinced my friend to try a raw oyster for the first time and he liked it! Great service too.

S G.

Yelp
Wow - delicious! This is not the old GBs. Give it a try! Fantastic, creative apps, outstanding cocktails, delicious sushi, and tasty entrees. Try the fried zucchini, Dan Dan Noodles, sushi rolls, and the ume cosmo.

Alondra R.

Yelp
We stopped by real quick to check it out it was our first bar and the drinks we got were good, i had a rosy cider and my husband had the widow-maker and we thought it was pretty good for the most part. BUT one of the bartenders at the bar section was SO RUDE from the get go. The tall blonde, wish i would have got their name. But they were side eyeing me and my husband as soon as we sat down and did not check on us at all while we sat there and when i got up to go to the bathroom they approached my husband when he finished his beer and said "you want another one or what" with so much attitude and he said "no im good ill just take the check" and when they came back they slammed the check and the pen on the table and when i got back my husband told me we are leaving right now and i was surprised but i chugged the rest of my drink and left. When we got outside he told me what happened with this bartender and I was so enraged that he was treated like this. I knew it was going to be something by the way they were looking at us but i didn't expect that at all. I genuinely feel they were rude to us because we are Mexican. WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK.

Yelp
The terrible bachelorette party that spammed this place with "HIPPA violation" complaints (which are inaccurate--they aren't the employer or health provider, and it's "HIPAA," you jags) notwithstanding, this place is fine. It's always been fine. Get a beer and don't be terrible.

Zac M.

Yelp
We have been here for dinner many times but in the last few years especially, every meal seems to out-do the last. We ordered a smattering of apps and entrees over the evening and each was uniquely memorable. There is truly something for everybody. The atmosphere was comfortable and warm, the servers, bartenders and food runners were friendly and knowledgeable, the drinks were outstanding. In a town full of world class food, the Bradford stands in a league of its own.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
The atmosphere on the off season was absolutely top notch! My husband and I ended up coming here three times for food, snacks or drinks during our most recent Ptown visit because we enjoyed it so much! They do have a limited assortment of table games available at some tables and we enjoyed getting to play some Scrabble on a rainy Sunday! The fries and hummus were very good. The Mac and Cheese was a smaller portion but, it was some of the BEST Mac I've EVER had. It was exceptionally dank so make sure to order it!
google avatar

Jessica A.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I had reservations here for dinner a couple nights ago, and almost cancelled them after a local shop owner referred to it as "a dive" but also added it was under new management. I'm so glad we ended up keeping our reservation - the food was elevated, creative, and delicious and the cocktails were great. We found the menu so refreshing compared to a lot of the super touristy places in p-town. My boyfriend started with the daily ceviche which he said was a perfect balance of flavors, and we split the fries which were tasty and so interesting with the togarashi seasoning. I had the steak and he had the halibut, and both were cooked to absolute perfection. And we loved the Oh Mai Rye Tai and the No Left on 6 so much that we ended up going back again last night for another round! I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
The 1 star rating is for two things. A "smoked scallop chowder" where there were no scallops. When I told the waitress about this, she said that the scallops were mixed into the chowder. Incredulously, I asked if it was pureed or something. What the... Then at the end, when I was overcharged, the waitress let me know the real price was what showed up on the check, even though she agreed that the menu said a lower price. No offer to fix the discrepancy for me. Without the false advertising and the dishonest behavior, restaurant would have been 2 stars for food quality. It wasn't gross. Just not good, and certainly not what's advertised.
google avatar

Tataco M.

Yelp
Overpriced for what you are ordering. The two ladies in the front of the house were great, they get the only star here. The food isn't good, it almost feels like a tourist trap.
google avatar

Ciara M.

Yelp
The gang that took over the Bradford have breathed such wonderful life back into it!! Colin is such a amazing and creative chef, all of the food I've had there is 10/10. I can't wait to see what else they come up with
google avatar

Erik C.

Yelp
The absolute best place in the world for karaoke. Ran by a drag queen, it's the best queeraoke I've ever been to (and I've been to many). The drinks are stiff and generous pours, the ambiance is electric, and the people are amazing. A must visit space in PTown. Super fun during Pride as well!
google avatar

Robert V.

Yelp
I would give this place negative stars if I could. This place used to be great. I have been going there for years. I am a gay man and enjoyed dinner, drinks and especially karaoke. For the past three years or more now when I visit Ptown my friends and I go there for food, drinks and karaoke. Because of the so called "Bachelorette Party" straight girls that become drunk and obnoxious and "pay off" the drag queen so they can get up and sing multiple times we "gay" men never get a chance to sing. We were literally there for 3 hours and my friends and I did not get one chance to sing! Its totally ridiculous to watch these girls spilling drinks everywhere and being loud and rude and treating us "gay" men like we are circus freaks!. Not to mention the drag queen would not even give me the time of day to see where we were on the list. No money no sing is basically what she said!! Ptown is our safe place, our home away from home. We can't even enjoy ourselves any more due to this establishment allowing these girls to take over. I even had a girl yell at me for asking if an open table was available. This needs to stop! We are getting together as a gay community and banning Governor Bradford for good! Signed, Frustrated in my own safe haven!!

Bill E.

Yelp
New ownership Danny the bartender is rude and arrogant Asked what he had for an amber beer He said read the menu. He said he wouldn't tell you the beers 'Read the menu" He ended up calling me a "dick" when I said we would go elsewhere. Danny lost his tip. Ownership lost business. Have been going to the Governor Bradford for many years. New ownership needs to employ more customer focused employees And respectful bartender. We conveyed our displeasure to the bouncer and Colin. They seemed concerned.
google avatar

William S.

Yelp
Amazing bar and restaurant, great karaoke! Will continue to go here when out here with my friends every summer. New management for the win!

Ay M.

Yelp
Everything was amazing. We had a burger, the gb fries and the oyster bao and two cocktails and loved everything. Our waiter was also such a gem.

Kerri A.

Yelp
The steak was perfectly cooked and the band was wonderful. It was a Monday night, and the atmosphere was energetic.

Frank n.

Yelp
Seating is extremely uncomfortable, cocktails were bad - service was fine but I would not go back. I gave it two stars because the raw bar was fresh and staff was friendly. Other than that I would have given it a one star rating.

Bill M.

Yelp
First things first - they just re-opened under new ownership Thursday June 23, 2022 - 1st get rid of the Gorton Fisherman Fish Sticks, all batter and little to NO fish - replace with potato skins (?) The far end of the bar nearest the bathrooms - if you're gonna have bar stools there why wouldn't you service patrons sitting in those bar seats? You're gonna ignore both the customer and their $$$ Doesn't make any sense either focus on ALL your patrons or rip out the bar stools and increase the dance floor??? Beer selection is GREAT New bar GREAT Drag Karaoke GREAT but starts at 10:00pm Would I go back? Yes

Dan L.

Yelp
Went to the show yesterday for brunch. It was wonderful. Great energy. Our female server was wonderful. Pleasant which is refreshing at the Governor Bradford. Food was pretty good. Little pricey for the Governor Bradford. Suggestion for the new owners. Add some more casual appetizers to the menu. It's the Governor Bradford. Also, focus on the long term employees / servers and their attitude. Few of the long time employees have gotten way to comfortable being rude to everyone as mentioned in previous reviews. The new owners deserve better out of their long term employees.

Caitlin J.

Yelp
0/0 Wish I could give this place zero stars. I have never in my life been more disrespected, and they violated HIPPA asking for multiple forms of ID including health insurance cards which is NOT allowed. Will NEVER EVER go back, owner was also very rude.

Rachel J.

Yelp
After letting us in night one, they wouldn't let us in the second night. After giving proper identification the bouncer said that we needed to provide him with our health insurance card. That is a complete violation of HIPPA. You cannot ask anyone for their health insurance card. We were completely disrespected by the manager and the bouncer. I will not be returning. It has been a favorite place of ours to go for years and this is a HUGE disappointment.

Dayna M.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I was told they were refunding my drink and said "we never ran your card". They, in fact, ran my card and charged me. Never going back.

Court P.

Yelp
If I could give it 0 stars I would... the guy bouncing denied entry at the door saying IDs were fake, even the cops walking by said our IDs were real, everyone in the bachelorette party was 27 and older. However this guy was on a POWERTRIP and he kept saying "get out of my bar" even though he was just the bouncer.. we could've stayed after verifying with the cops outside that our IDs were real but didn't want to spend our money at a hostile facility like this one.. sounds like the bouncer was projecting.. anyways, go to the underground! The scanners actually work and you'll have a great time

Clive W.

Yelp
I agree with what others have said here. Maybe I went on a bad night but it was overrun by drunk bachelorette party attendees who were incredibly rude and brought their rude guy friends. The queen hosting karaoke skipped over songs she didn't like or people who didn't pay her off and was super rude about it. I did not feel comfortable here as a Queer person which is wild because it's PTown. One benefit is Brett the bartender who is great.

Anastasiya T.

Yelp
Don't do it! Go ANYWHERE but here. Food is horrible! Like worse than McDonald's quality. So overpriced for such shitty food. They were almost empty and the service still sucked. Will never return.

Tom F.

Yelp
Really loved the food! The corn ribs were extremely original and tasty, the cod excellent and apps spot on. I get to visit P-Town a couple times a year, this was my first time here and I will definately be back. And the service was great.

Scott L.

Yelp
The new menu here is amazing. On Noodle Night the Dan Dan Noodles were mouth wateringly delicious! Even the new regular menu was delicious. They have a scallion pancake that is stuffed with a rotating protein... the nights we went it was korean BBQ and they were delicious.

Brian M.

Yelp
Went went to the Governor Bradford the day before they closed for the the winter and some major renovations. Friendly and efficient service despite being short staffed. The food was incredible. Far down the best oysters. We look forward to our next visit this summer.

Alison H.

Yelp
We wanted to love this new addition to the Provincetown dining scene. The ambience, service, and beer selection were great, but the food was overpriced and left much to be desired. The kids menu was basically the same cost as the adult menu ($14 versus $15) and the food was just okay, the miso-onion soup sounded promising but it tasted like a salt lick and was twice as expensive ($11) as it should have been based on the small appetizer size. The papaya salad was decent but also a bit pricey for an appetizer ($14). If they made their prices a little more reasonable and evened out the food quality, we'd consider going back.
