Volunteer-run paddles on the once-industrial Gowanus Canal pair recreation with stewardship. Free walk-up canoeing days and guided trips reveal ecology in flux—with music nights and art shows at the boathouse.
Is this club restricted to canoe-ers who have lost their sense of smell?

They had different activities today (Saturday, 6/12/21), especially the Zumba class with Buffy, was great, enjoyed to the max. They should have activities like this one more often.👏👏👏

Unorthodox activity compared to canoeing the Hudson. Nice friendly people, but oh boy how embarrassingly disgustingly dirty is the river once you cross the bridge. Not sure how you can develop and gentrify Gowanus when numerous parking spaces and body shops spill the oil over directly into the river. It’s a shame what people do to this planet

A wonderful day and delightfully altered view of our city. I reluctantly went with a group as I thought the stench would be overpowering. I was wildly misinformed and the day was terrific.

Such a unique experience !! Sunset cruise with Owen. He's knows everything Gowanus and all of Brooklyn for that matter. Highly recommend this very relaxing and educating experience.

Would be so much better if the canal was clean. I’ll pray for the day we have blue waters there. However good free ride on the canoe.
