The Best Restaurants in London for the Weekend | Eater London

"A recently reopened, no-frills Brick Lane canteen serving homestyle Sylheti cooking with renewed energy; the place remains a community hangout now animated by a younger crowd. The menu showcases curried river fish varieties — rohu, hilsha and pabda — alongside simmered beef, chicken and an array of vegetable bhortas slicked with mustard oil. Dishes such as tiny silver keski mas (aromatic and spicy), chingri mas (small shell-on prawns paired with creamy spinach) and a yellow tadka dal topped with crispy naga chilli and garlic, set against pungent shutki satni (fermented fish paste), create a nostalgic, intensely flavoured experience." - Shekha Vyas

I had lunch at Gram Bangla and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The food was incredibly delicious and full of authentic Bangladeshi flavours — it truly reminded me of home-cooked meals, just like my mother’s cooking. Every dish tasted fresh, well-balanced, and comforting. We felt fully satisfied after our meal and can confidently say this is one of the best Bangladeshi restaurants we’ve tried in the city. This taste will stay on my tongue for at least the next six months — that’s how memorable it was. We’ll definitely be coming back again soon!

The food was delicious (two fish dishes and one chicken with mild spice) and the service were excellent. Starting with the owner welcoming us to our table and explaining to us what we can expect being it was our first time dining at a Bangladesh restaurant. To try before committing to ordering the dishes which was a great idea because after some tasting, it was too spicy hot. 10/10!

Beautiful, authentic, delicious Bangladeshi food. The staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating - they allowed us to try the dishes before eating! Food is very decently priced and there’s a lovely atmosphere. We went on a Saturday lunchtime and were able to walk-in. 10/10 recommend and can’t wait to return and try more delicious food! 🥘🇧🇩

What a disgusting experience we had on Friday this week? Will never forget that to be honest. The service Women was awful with her attitude and behaviour. Don’t even know what to say or not to say in front of customers or how to behave. We been there because a person closed to the owner recommended and was along with us too. He became shocked and said sorry to us many times as it was his decision to invite us there in this restaurant. The rice were like uncooked, potatoes smash and dry fish smash was disgusting, the Kala vuna was burnt without any taste and the funny part was once we requested to change the water bottle to served the cold one then the service women did ask individually if we opened the bottle already! 🤔 We all are living abroad so many years however this was one of the worst Bangladeshi food along with the customer service from totally a mannerless and incompetent person ever. We ended up paying £71 for all those negative experiences we received. I just wanted to warn and advise to avoid this restaurant in any cost. Just so you know all of we are kind of chef too and do have quite a lot experiences about great foods and how to cook. We felt extremely sorry to go there and ruined our joyful moments. 🥹

We had an amazing experience at this Bangladeshi restaurant in Brick Lane! It was our first time trying Bangladeshi cuisine, and we were absolutely blown away. Every dish was bursting with flavour—rich, aromatic, and perfectly spiced. From the starters to the mains, everything was cooked to perfection. The service was warm and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. If you're looking to explore authentic Bangladeshi food, this place is a must-visit! We’ll definitely be coming back for more.

My go-to place for authentic Bangladeshi food in London! I always get their bhortas and fish for a very close reminder of home. The fish can be very spicy and slightly on the oily side if those are concerns for you. This is a must visit if you’re in London!!
