Outdoor Mediterranean Restaurant Debuts Downtown This May | Eater San Diego

"Another greenery-filled space will function as a lounge for hotel guests; called Grace Garden, it will also serve quick-service options for hotel guests and area workers, including “build and go” salad, sandwich, and grain-based dishes." - Candice Woo

Listen if you want an authentic Chinese restaurant, this is it! The food is ALWAYS delicious! We’ve tried other Chinese restaurants in the area and there is no comparison to this one.

Google
Food is legit. The place is small inside but they offer takeout. We decided to dine in and the service was great even for how busy they were. So many options even vegetarian ones. I ordered the Tofu with broccoli in garlic sauce. The broccoli was juicy with flavor . The tofu crispy on the outside. The portion size was huge. I had Wonton egg drop soup as well and it was perfect. We ordered the pu pu platter. The chicken sticks were my favorite. This is my new go to spot.

Google
We have looked for a great Chinese place for a long time now, we were recommended to this place and it has not been a let down. So far our favorite thing is the House special WONTON soup, hearty and sooooo delicious. Also, highly recommend the orange beef, the dumplings and anything Shrimp. Lo-mein is also cooked to perfection. My girlfriend really enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken as well. Also wild to me that someone would leave a 1 star review for a business that they weren't a customer of...

Stopped by for lunch and am extremely happy I decided to try them out! I ordered lunch special pork fried rice with orange chicken and an order of bbq ribs. Everything was hot fresh and very delicious. Orange chicken has the best crunch I've had from a Chinese food place. Staff was very nice and helpful in deciding what to get! Give this place a try!

Google
A small Chinese restaurant. It was fine. Nothing special and not horrible. Priced well. Very nice staff and clean.

Google
I picked up General Tso's Chicken and Hot and Sour soupr from here for lunch. The service was great and fast. The price was very reasonable, around $11. The dish tasted fantastic and freshly made. The soup was good but a little on the bland side. Maybe it needed to simmer longer. The portions were very filling. I will definitely go back and try mores dishes.

Google
Been getting take out here since December and I have to say, I haven't gotten anything that wasn't absolutely AMAZING from here. Everything from the beef Mongolian, general tso chicken, chicken fingers, garlic shrimp, jalapeno seafood dish, sesame chicken, honey chicken, beef and broccoli. All the dishes have been hot and delicious. If your looking for good Chinese take out, this is a must try place!

Clean and tasty restaurant (POV of a native Chinese) with the most amiable service. Highly recommend.

Yelp
11/22/2026 Today was errands; NFCU, Sportsman's Warehouse, Walmart and Lunch. First time visiting Grace Garden. Parking 5/5 Very busy lot, however; we parked at store-front between two places of interest. Atmosphere 5/5 Small quaint women owned Chinese restaurant celebrating 17 years! There were ~ 4 booths on the sides, we sat at two tables pushed together which could accommodate four. Service 5/5 Call-in order and table service. There were several pick-up customers during our lunch who appeared to be regulars based on their conversations. The owner brought us menus from the counter and took our beverage orders giving us a chance to look over the menu. After returning with our drinks she asked if we had any questions and we did. She was very pleasant and helpful. My wife ordered the Egg Foo Young, fried rice and small egg drop soup. I picked the Sweet & Sour Pork, fried rice and the large egg drop soup. Service today was amazing and friendly. Food 5/5 Oh my, all your favorites are on the menu. Our Egg drop soup hit the table in short order and both of us approved, excellent Egg Drop! Onto the entrees My wife's Egg Foo Young arrived first and her plate had several large and fluffy pieces that looked very tasty. It came with the traditional sauce on the side, and fried rice. The owner encouraged me to try some and my fork obliged. OM Gosh, perfectly cooked, wonderful texture and flavor! My dish is my regular go-to when trying new Chinese cuisine. The pork was perfectly cooked, slight crispy which I enjoyed. The S&S sauce was nice as well. I added some of my rice to the mix. Based in both our entree selections I will order these again! Our cook came out to clear our table and we thanked him for a great lunch. $48.35 plus tip for our visit today and we had leftovers too. Egg Foo Young my friends-SYOY!

Yelp
Stopped by here for a quick lunch. Their lunch menu is very well priced. I got the egg drop soup which was good and decided to try the Mongolian chicken for the first time. The chicken portion was good and tender. But it was a little salty for me that day. The fried rice was good as well. The service was quite fast mostly we order at the counter and we had our food shortly. Good place for a quick bite during lunch. Need to try the other dishes in the future.

Yelp
The servers were quite nice and the portions were reasonably good! My only criticism is that when I ordered the General Tso's chicken, the description gave me the impression it would have more than 3 pieces of broccoli. However, I do appreciate that there isn't an extra charge for brown rice and the taste of the chicken itself was certainly great! Just the dish needs some more broccoli is all. Maybe I will try moo shoo pork next time.

Yelp
Food here is good. I guess you can say it's basic. Poo poo platter was over cooked. House lo mein was good.
google avatar

Yelp
The food was true New York style Chinese. Amazing flavorful dishes and the service was out of this world. The food came to the table super quick and amazingly hot.

Yelp
The food tastes great, arrived hot, the order was on point - nothing missing, and prompt! I will be ordering again. Thank you Grace Garden!

Yelp
When it comes to Chinese food, this is a hidden gem for me. Just love their menu I ultimately like their beef broccoli, which is not too salty just right served with white rice.

Rylee R.

Yelp
Food was AMAZING I got soup and ate it all and couldn't help but eat my dad's food as well delicious!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Food was good. Only place I could find spicy eggplant. Didn't disappoint. Only thing I feel the prices were a bit high.

Yelp
A delicious and filling Chinese restaurant here in Gilbert! The portions were generous in size and weight. We ordered two of the lunch specials - 1 Beef & Broccoli and 1 General Tsao's both with fried rice and hot and sour soup. The General Tsao's is advertised as spicy but is not very spicy at all if you can handle at least out of . Delicious tasting and the rice was good as well. I haven't had the hot and sour soup before and this one was alright, I'd probably opt for a different soup next time. The Chinese donuts are so delicious! They are little fried balls of dough with sugar sprinkled on top. The service was good as I was greeted by a staff member re-stocking supplies. Fast and convenient service. The inside seating is a little bit tight with not too many tables but again there is always good ol' takeout.
google avatar

Yelp
Always fast and tasty .love the East coast style chow mein. I love the real egg rolls
google avatar

Kelsey A.

Yelp
Honestly one of the best pork egg rolls I've had in a long time. It was very oily but the taste and texture were there. So good. I got the beef and broccoli and the teriyaki chicken, with a side of white and fried rice. Both delicious. This will be my go to spot for my noodle needs! I got delivery so I'm unsure of the ambiance and service but I know they make yummy food!
google avatar

Sarah J.

Yelp
This is one of the only places our family will order Chinese food from! The lunch specials are amazing and the service is always phenomenal. The garlic beef and chicken lo mein are amazing.
google avatar

Shaun V.

Yelp
I come here at least once a week and love it The noodles are decent, the general tos chicken is awesome with the breading. I'm happy that it's not the Cantonese batter. This is my go-to or I get the Mongolian beef
google avatar

Yelp
Delicious food. Great timing. Took me years to find good Chinese food in the East valley, this is it

Kaci B.

Yelp
I was feeling a bit off and wanted soup, so we ordered delivery and were very impressed with everything we ordered! It was packed well and my children LOVED the orange chicken and Lo Mein- the chicken was juicy, tender, and super flavorful with plenty of sauce and stayed hot, and the noodles were delicious and a large serving for the price. Best orange chicken I've ever had! The wonton soup absolutely hit the spot and was better than I expected with a flavorful broth, plenty of green onions and large, yummy wonton pieces. Delivery was very quick and friendly, I could tell it was going to be good when I saw how well it was packaged! We will definitely order again, glad to have found a great place nearby!

Yelp
Okay first off, the CUSTOMER SERVICE IS TOP TIER Then the food ? It's literally NY style , LA hood style Chinese GOOD food. My fiancé had to go get my food and when she recognized him without me she made sure my wings were extra special (ask to add jalapeños, garlic and salt & pepper‍ ) 1000/10000 I love this place My go to comfort food always and it's RIGHT AROUND DA CORNER

Angelina B.

Yelp
Our favorite go to for some great egg rolls, wonton soup and our favorite lo mein noodles. Always happy when we order from here.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
The food was amazing and so was the service! They are prompt, detail-oriented, and will not hesitate to ask questions to clarify your order. The decor, however, I have a small reservation against. They need to redo their decor. It doesn't make send for a Chinese restaurant and it doesn't make the space look a little small. They might want to consider that. Otherwise, great job!

Kylen C.

Yelp
the place was nice and clean not murky like other Chinese restaurants I liked the food it's not like panda where they dip everything in extra extra sugar so the taste was more true to Chinese food I would recommend I got fried rice and lomain and chicken one thing I didn't like was the sauce and egg roll but we went here after watching a movie so the taste could be off because of the popcorn we ate previously.

Yelp
Wow!!! Very good food. Large menu. More than friendly service too. Small dining room. Great place for takeout. We dined in, as we do not live on that side of town. We will be making excuses to go back! Highly recommended.

Grace Garden has got to be my favorite Chinese food place. Huge portions, always hot and fresh, and oh so delicious! Delivery is fast and food is always hot! Great job Grace Garden! Keep it up! Try them out, you won't be disappointed! !!!!

Yelp
Wow, it is beyond disappointing & disgusting that a restaurant would take a persons personal belongings and then lie about the fact that they had it. My friend and I visited this small shop because his father wanted it. First, upon entering the restaurant, there was 2 people working. As my friend placed his order, a third employee came from outside after having parked her car. She came in with supplies for the restaurant. Before she washed her hands or anything, she began looking over the food that was being cooked. Then she began to talk loudly with the other employees. So loud I dismissed myself from the restaurant. My friend waited for his fathers food and we went on our way, but my friend left his wallet. We called two days later due to them being closed and before my friend could even finish his sentence asking about his wallet, she aggressively declared no wallet was left and that she works at the establishment everyday. If I could give this restaurant no stars I would, but no possible so 1 it'll be. Hopefully they treat their future customers better. This garden has no grace, they are thieves.

Yelp
If you order tofu from here, I recommend getting it steamed. I normally order from their Weight Watchers menu where they steam instead of fry/stir fry, but this time I ordered the tofu off the regular menu and it was inedible. It was over cooked to oblivion which made it tough and rubbery.
google avatar

Ann M.

Yelp
Super lucky to have this gem so close to home. We order from here at least every two weeks. I love the steamed veggies with seafood (under the weight watchers options) and the teriyaki chicken. I've sampled a few beef dishes (Mongolian & broccoli) which never disappoint. I will order the pot stickers (a meal by themselves) or the crab Rangoon (one size) every few times to mix it up. Beau loves their egg drop soup & orders it EVERY time. His go-tos are the shrimp with lobster sauce (white sauce, not brown) or the broccoli chicken. The only issue the beau had was they combine the rice so instead of two small rices they give you one large. I feel like it's more but I think he needs to 'see' two rice boxes in the bag. Fortune cookies are included in every order.

Yelp
Stopped by for lunch and am extremely happy I decided to try them out! I ordered lunch special pork fried rice with orange chicken and an order of bbq ribs. Yelp
NY style Chinese food. Just as advertised. It's my go to spot, even though it's a 15 min drive from my house.

Yelp
Reasonable price. Portion was a bit small but food tastes great! Order was quick. Good for take out.

Yelp
In days long gone, Chinese food was a relatively cheap meal. Not so much anymore. But Grace Garden has decent food for a fair price. Wife and I went for a big lunch yesterday and I can truthfully say that their food is more Chinese American food rather than traditional Chinese food (of any type). But it was pretty good. I ordered crab rangoons for my wife who loves that deep fried, won ton wrappers with cream cheese and surime inside of it. She ordered sesame chicken for her lunch and said it was very good. I had pork with black bean sauce, and it was good too. I especially liked the fact that my dish came with a lot of veggies in it too. The pork was similar to char siu pieces instead of regular pork pieces, but that was OK. And we both liked the fact that for $3, you can buy a 2L bottle of soda and they will give you cups, ice, and straws to use. Next time we go, we will try some other entrees, so we get a better idea of the scope of their menu. We especially like that they open at 10:30 am too, since we like to eat lunch early!! LOL!!

David V.

Yelp
Pretty good Chinese food! Good portioning, pretty good pricing! Orange chicken was delicious crispy and hot! Fried rice and low mein okay! Would I return... probably not do I recommend trying it? Yes of course!

Emmalina B.

Yelp
The staff here is so friendly. I come here frequently, the food is always fresh and flavorful. I love having a place to eat that is so consistent with their good service and quality food.
google avatar

Yelp
Nothing to brag about, most of it was edible. Favorite part was the pre packaged fortune cookies. That what I get for trying a new place.

Lani L.

Yelp
Love this place, best food in the area and the owners are fantastic! I would highly recommend putting this place on your list to stop by and check out!
google avatar

Kate N.

Yelp
Food and service were great. They serve the typical menu for American Asian restaurants. The prices are excellent and service was fast. Would recommend for a quick lunch or dinner. Dining area is small but most customers are picking up to go orders.
google avatar

Kathleen G.

Yelp
This is one of our families favorite Chinese restaurants. The Mongolian beef is the best.
google avatar

Yelp
Deeeeelish! Some of the best Kung Pao Chicken I've had in a very long time! The restaurant was small, clean and cute. Prices were reasonable and it was quick service! My kind of place :)

Yelp
I tried Grace Garden for the first time today. So good! My parents have been getting take-out there for a while now and always rave about how good it is. They brought spring rolls to a pot luck dinner over the holidays that were delicious. I don't eat Chinese food very often and so I just go through the "fast food drive-thru" for an occasional orange chicken fix. My mom and I both ordered the orange chicken today and my dad had the orange shrimp. I also had a shrimp roll. All of the food was hot and wonderful. The shrimp my dad had were huge! I know what I'm ordering next time. The restaurant is small, and quiet, which is great. The older I get, the more I love a nice, quiet restaurant over loud and crowded. I can't stand the way some restaurants, like PF Changs, smell before you even walk through the door. I won't even go near that place. Grace Garden is very clean and did not have any food odors at all. Bonus points for that. YAY!! Our waitress was very sweet and attentive. This will be added to our list of Sunday dinner places for sure.

Yelp
Trying to order take out from another restaurant my wife wanted to try, but the online ordering process was a real grind and unsuccessful on all fronts. So instead I suggested we try Grace Garden as it was closer and we've walked passed it a few times, and they seemed to only do takeout! Was definitely not disappointed in our choice and the delivery was faster then expected. The process was quick and painless, unlike the other restaurant's online process. Also the portion sizes were huge in comparison to other chinese restaurants in the area and how the presentation of the dishes were constructed. We ended up sharing one of the combination meals "General Tsao's chicken" and putting the other in the frig. The egg drop won ton soup was great, and the twist of the won ton in the soup was great as well and shared the "Beef and Broccoli and the Chicken Fried rice. Uber eats service was quick, and the delivery driver was professional and friendly. Recommend this place to all!

Nicole M.

Yelp
Been here twice now and it was great both times! Always hot and fresh, flavor is great, service is good, and they have good health inspection reviews. My new favorite spot.

Yelp
I placed an order about 30 minutes before closing time. I ordered 5 egg rolls, 1 orange chicken, and a General Tao. I have been struggling to find good east coast Chinese food out here, and this place is plugged as east coast style. I sat down looked over the menu while waiting. I decided since the weekend was coming up I'd order a party tray of broccoli beef also for the house. With 15 minutes left before close I thought she would say it was to close to closing time for that large of an order. She didn't bat an eye, and sent it back to the kitchen. I asked for the real hot mustard for the egg rolls. When I got home I opened everything. I bit into the egg roll and it had that nice crispness to the outside, and had a decent flavor. The hot mustard was yummy. I like broccoli beef as a distant choice to many other westernized Chinese dishes, but everyone else in the house likes it. Usually the broccoli beef, the beef is super thin, very very chewy and the sauce is thin. But this broccoli beef, wow, and I mean wow. Super fresh broccoli, the beef was so freaking tender and very thick pieces, and the sauce was amazing. I could have stood there and went to town on that instead of what I ordered. Everyone loved the broccoli beef. Orange chicken and General Tao should be very unique dishes, and not at all the same. Unfortunately most restaurants they are pretty much the same with only a very slight flavor difference. The orange chicken was pretty decent as well, but almost matched the General Tao in flavor. Not the greatest I have had, but good. Lotus Garden out here in Apache Junction has really good orange chicken. Super crispy outside, each piece coated in sauce, real orange pieces added, and a very zesty orange flavor to the sauce. The General Tao was pretty decent as well. Both the orange chicken and General Tao had lots of sauce and it was very thick. I like both my orange chicken and General Tao to have a very crisp outside and tender inside. These had a slight crisp outside. No, it wasn't because it was carryout. I am a whole of 8 minutes from the restaurant. The white rice was very good. It appeared to be a short grain, sticky rice. Yummy. Anyway, I am looking forward to going back and trying out other dishes.

Yelp
Alright, so I'm trying this new thing where I review Chinese delivery places in my area based off of the same items on each menu. I'ma write a Yelp about it like to read it here it goes: Overall Impression/TL;DR: Grace Garden's food is quite nice. I've never been inside (only ordered via Grubhub) so I've never seen the interior of their restaurant, but I imagine it having cloth napkins and a nice ambience. Their food isn't sauced as heavily as *SOME* places (ahem, you KNOW who you are!), and I've never found their dishes to be overstarched or "goopy". I imagine that they probably use very fresh ingredients, and cut things daily (the green peppers, for example, are really exceptional, which is a weird thing to say but I stand by it!). Nothing tastes like it was sitting under a buffet heat lamp for 3 hours (again, YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!) but at the same time nothing really stands out very much. It's a great base-line restaurant from which to judge others, and it's definitely one of my favorite go-tos for delivery. So here's my breakdown of individual dishes: 1) Eggroll: Their eggrolls here are really good, possibly my favorite of any delivery place. They're never over-greasy, and they're fried just right so that there's a nice crunch followed by just a little bit of chew. A little light on the meat inside, but not so much that it really detracts from the experience. I like mines with hot mustard, and when you request hot mustard here they give you a dish with some amazingly potent stuff. Be warned- this isn't that stuff from packets, and it *will* send a tingle into your nose... but not in a bad way. 2) Mongolian beef: Really nice flavor in the meat, and a really good meat-onion-peppers ratio. My only complaint is that they don't (or didn't, in this order) serve it over those cripsy white saifun noodles, which a lot of people associate with "Mongolian" dishes, because that's a thing. 3) Singapore mei fun: Definitely not bad, but just a weeeeee bit on the blander side. I like much more curry flavor in mine, but this isn't the worst- it just isn't my favorite. Tastes... healthier, maybe? Maybe next time I'll request extra spicy when I order. 4) Kung Pao chicken: Not bad, but again, not my favorite. Tender pieces of breastmeat (I believe, I'm 93% sure it isn't thigh, which is my preference) with cubes of carrot, water chestnuts, celery, babycorn, and a very generous scoop of peanuts. All in all, it really isn't bad and is probably what 98.6% of all people expect when they order it, but I make my own at home and it's hard for anything to measure up. But this is probably what you like, so go ahead and order it you savage. 5) Shrimp with black bean sauce: Really quite nice! The shrimp are a *little* on the overcooked side, but they're definitely larger than what you might usually expect. The veggies are thick-cut and steamed perfectly, and the black bean sauce is very light. Probably my favorite dish out of all of the ones I tried tonight.

Yelp
Ordered Szechuan Chicken ToGo and it tasted like Rat Poison. Seriously! I was scared. WON'T BE BACK.

SJ C.

Yelp
Food was mediocre at best. Ordered fried dumplings, crab Rangoon , garlic shrimp, kungpao chicken, Szechwan pork- the kungpao was the best - the others were not spicy, garlic shrimp had a very odd flavor and we threw it out, the Szechwan pork tasted more like a simply vegetable stir fry with pork - the only real flavor was in the kungpao- Will not return.

Vaansh S.

Yelp
THE FOOD IS AMAZING! Let me start by saying this: they were not lying about it being New York style! I've spent years in Arizona looking for something that matches New York's Chinese-American food joints! Grace Garden has amazing food, outstanding service, and kind employees. 100% recommend!

Yelp
Tonight was suppose to be spaghetti however we decided to order out. My GF said there was this restaurant that had great Chinese food. So I looked it up read the reviews and decided why not. ***BTW I am very picky and very much into my comfort zone of eating at new places.*** But!! We ordered the whole family dinner, it didn't take long to get here and the food was HOT!!!! I grabbed the low mein, orange chicken and some of everything else. As I bit into the Orange Chicken I looked at my GF with surprise delight and said "IT'S REAL CHICKEN"!!!! yes, I went back to what Panda Express serves which is (orange chicken sponge) and this blew me away cause it was everything but that. It was great and fresh! In short I had two plates and I am satisfied and will be a returning customer. Everything was fresh and HOT! Thank you for a great dinner Grace Garden.

Yelp
Great food, large portions, excellent value, NICE people, awesome service! This little gem is my go to for lunch, takeout, or any time I don't feel like cooking. Huge menu, and the "Happy Family" is my fav dish. Tasty soups, too. Support your local businesses, and order today. You'll be glad you did.
