The Wine and Cheese Party at Downing Street: A Hypothetical Menu | Eater London

"A celebrated Australian single-vineyard wine cited as an unmistakably prestigious foreign selection in the hypothetical lineup — invoked both for its fame and as a dramatic, divisive choice amid otherwise British-heavy suggestions." - Adam Coghlan

Yesterday we went to the Grape Harvest. It was so much fun being a part the event. It was $12 and included the grape picking, behind the scenes tour, lunch, wine tasting, and even 20% discount on merchandise. The family who owns and runs the vineyard were on site and showed the highest level of gratitude and hospitality. This vineyard is more than a tasting room… it’s an experience ❤️

Google
We had the most wonderful experience at this winery that I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve gone through several different wineries and several different states and you guys are the most knowledgeable and have the most kind people they’re working for you guys. Teresa took our photos for us and she was so helpful with her knowledge about the wines that we sampled because of her we also became members and I’m so proud to become a member and I cannot wait to be able to come help grapes for wine and to come to the family dinners And sample new wines. It’s gonna be so exciting.

Google
Such a sweet little winery just outside of Wichita! The wines stray on the sweet side, but there are some dryer options that taste lovely! They regularly have events and live music. I highly recommend helping with the harvest in the late summer/fall, it's very fun to be a part of operations and see the literal fruits of your labor. Their outdoor spaces are so nice for loving and enjoying a sip.

Google
Grace Hill is always a fun & beautiful place, 4th time out enjoying wine, spirits, food, & good company full of memories! Couldn’t ask for a better 36th Birthday! And Teresa GIRL we loved and enjoyed your beautiful soul, you are amazing✨

Google
We had an amazing experience. Husband and I went for our 4th wedding anniversary. It is an incredibly priced experience. We got to pick wine grapes, got a tour of the wine making equipment, got to do a grape stomp, had multiple samples of wine each (plus a nice discount on bottles, we bought two!) AND we were provided lunch after it all. Seriously a must attend event. Perfect for a date, for families, or for yourself. I highly recommend coming to Grace Hill Winery!

Google
Grace Hill Winery is one of the best wineries I have been to! The staff is super friendly and extremely knowledgeable! Everything from the tastings, the wine, food etc is not only amazing but also affordable! The winery itself is absolutely beautiful, and they are happy to let you walk around and check everything out, even the vineyard! A must go if you're in the area! Highly recommended!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Google
A group of us attended a special event at the winery, a 5 course lunch, each course paired with 2 of their different wines. It was a wonderful experience. Very nice hosts, delicious food and we all discovered our favorite wines. Of course, we purchased a few bottles before we left. I definitely recommend this venue and we'll be coming back as they announce future events.

Google
My husband and I stopped here on our way into Wichita. We both did a tasting. Between the two of us we tried all the different wines. He likes dry and I like sweet. We ended up purchasing three bottles to take home. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about each wine. It was fun to listen to the story behind each one of the wines that they make. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

Yelp
Best winery in Kansas. Good wine , good people. Only downfall is that darn gravel road to get to it

Javida T.

Yelp
I was visiting from out of state (WA) and brought my mom in to do a tasting. My mom is in a wheelchair and they were very accomidating for us and what probably should have been a 45 min tasting turned into a longer visit. We heard about the vineyard, stories of how labels got their art and about community of the other local vineyards. Go visit! I work in the industry, and they did what every winery should do with their hospitality, and you get to try wines from vines that are grown local.

Yelp
I am a wine snob. I love Italian and French wine and turn my nose up and even some of the wine from California (headache much?). This place was awesome! I even ended up with two cases of wine! The snacks were good, the service was good and the views were great on a beautiful day! It was chilly, but it was adorable! Definitely a Wichita gem!

Rachel R.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my visit to Grace Hill and would recommend it to others. The staff are friendly and informative during the tastings, and they make the experience enjoyable.

Yelp
Had a wonderful time. It was a great experience stomping grapes and drinking good wine. I actually met some new friends that liv in Oklahoma but visiting as I am. I am a dry wine girl and I was not disappointed. I even liked the rose which was surprisingly dry, it was good. Today was a beautiful day to walk vineyards. Not to crowded and a nice breeze. People are very friendly with a glass of wine in hand Like that I showed up on last day of harvest!!! Had a great time. Only downside they had one food truck which left me early, so I didn't get food. Next time they should hav a assortment of food trucks. I actually would have stayed longer if I had better food options and probably would have bought more wine. Most definitely I would have bought more win. Overall a great visit for my birthday weekend!

Yelp
I was in Kansas for business. My first time in the state. I live in Southern California near the Central Coast AVA (e.g. Santa Barbara, Santa Ynez, Paso Robles). My cellar is full of California wines. I stumbled on Grace Hill driving to the Wichita airport. Had time so thought "Why not?" Why not indeed. Truly amazed by the quality of their dry wines. Did not try the sweet or library. Tasting room staff, two delightful ladies whose names I never got, surprised me with their wine knowledge, cultivated palates, and exceptionally personable company. I am always on the lookout for new and unusual grapes. Scored 3 I'd never seen or tried before (Vignoles, Chardonel, Chambourcin). Much to my regret (and the damage to their revenue stream!), they cannot ship to California. I would have eagerly tried the library wines if they could ship. If they could have shipped to me, I'd have bought much more than the 3 bottles I found a miraculous way to squeeze into my checked baggage. A serious winery led and run by serious and fun wine people. Well worth a visit.

Yelp
Great atmosphere and some truly fine wines. Looking forward to returning soon. Don't miss the El Gato!

Yelp
This place is so fun!!!! First of all, this is a beautiful vineyard! Absolutely gorgeous! It has vines and vines that you can walk through. It has games (giant Jenga, cornhole, etc). It has a super fat English bulldog you can pet. It's dog friendly and super cheap and tasty wine! A tasting is $5 for 7 wines!!! THATS IT!!! The glasses are only $5 each and the bottles range from $12-20!! We stocked uppppp! We also bought some sunglasses because they're adorable!

Yelp
I lived in Wichita for a while. Went here a couple years back and loved the atmosphere and the wine. Now that I'm in Texas, I still gotta support the jayhawk state. So, I order a couple bottles online every year. Hopefully they'll start expanding and I'll be able to buy Leaning Shed Red at HEB.

Ron O.

Yelp
Great selection of wine and staff are fun to do wine tasting with. They were having a murder mystery the weekend after we were there and would have attended but they were sold out. Will be sure and keep abreast of their Facebook page.

Yelp
I recently went here with my daughter n law & did some wine tasting. The wine here is one of my favorites & it's local! I would definitely recommend grace hill winery

Yelp
Beautiful venue! Great wines! Awesome staff! We absolutely love this place! Fell in love with Grace Hill the 1st time we visited the winery! So much so we had our wedding reception here! We love coming every time we are in KS! Every wine at Grace Hill amazing! I'm more of sweet wine kind of girl but at Grace Hill I will drink it all! Bought a total of 6 bottles of wine and a shirt on my last visit! (my 2 favorites are El Gato and Peckerhead Red) The winery also offers about 2-3 free tours a day! Make sure to check out the times on their site. A tour will give you a greater appreciation for not only the art of making wine but for Grace Hill itself as well. This is also a great place to celebrate birthdays with a private tasting. Call the winery and they will work with you to arrange a visit that will meet your needs and your budget. The Wichita area is lucky to have Grace Hill in the vicinity. Support local business and wineries by making sure you take all your visitors to Grace Hill.

Yelp
Outstanding winery! Beautiful grounds, fun events (tastings, of course; painting classes, harvests, etc.) and the wines are varied in type and composition and all very good! Be sure and ask the story about how each label was named. And enjoy the art on each label.

Missie K.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, great wine! Perfect spot to enjoy a glass or bottle on the patio. Many evenings you can enjoy fantastic live music. Definitely a must vi

Yelp
Absolutely a must stop if you are near Wichita, Newton or passing through on I135! Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly! The wines are as diverse as the tastes you will encounter! It's a piece of art on your palette! Yes we bought the glasses and a few bottles to enjoy at home!

Cathy B.

Yelp
Absolutely beautiful place! The wine is delicious and the people friendly. We'll be back

Yelp
Michelle will take good care of you! Knowledgeable and fun. This was a wonderful way to enjoy a Sunday afternoon. Prices are super reasonable. Ended up buying a couple of bottles. Walked around before driving back home. Gorgeous day! Will do again!!

Brandy C.

Yelp
Went here for a change in wine and atmosphere, thoroughly enjoyed my time!! Definitely will be back!

Yelp
Super cute winery located just outside of Whitewater. $5 tastings and wine by the glass also. Very friendly staff and very cool decorations.
google avatar

Kai R.

Yelp
Came here for a wedding. Such a cute setup. Defiantly a nice spot for a small wedding. Just be forewarned there is like little to no cell service - but other than that the overall experience was amazing. By the way... try the sangria! To die for!
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely place! Try the whiskey wine (red wine stored in whiskey barrels) great snacks and lovely views. The people who work here are friendly too.

Yelp
I became a big fan of Grace Hill's Peckerhead Red a few months ago, it's become my favorite sweet red wine, and am pleased to support a local winery. On a whim we recently drove out to the winery for a tour and wine tasting. Such a fun place, great employees, and a beautiful spot. I really enjoyed the opportunity to try more of their wines, and am now a fan of quite a few of their wines. I encourage you to spend a few relaxing hours at Grace Hill Winery!

Yelp
I've been to Grace Hill Winery twice, both for special events they have hosted (the fall 2012 release party and "Bread and Wine Day"), and I look forward to "Chocolate and Wine Day" this weekend. The wines are delicious and the pricing is very affordable. I love the event center. The neutral color of the walls would make for a great event as you could easily do whatever color scheme you want.

Bonnie J.

Yelp
Such a nice place to visit and drink wine. We were passing through Wichita and decided to stop by. We enjoyed all of the wines and the staff were very helpful and kind to us. They even let us bring our pup with us in the covered patio area while we enjoyed our wine. It was quiet and peaceful. Great place to visit and I recommend that you stop by!

Rebecca M.

Yelp
My husband and I were out celebrating my birthday and came across this beautiful winery. Joel was knowledgeable about the wines and focused on all our requests. We were so impressed, we hung out in their enclosed patio overlooking the vineyard and enjoyed a meat and cheese tray. We've already made plans for a return trip.

Yelp
A wonderful, secluded winery. The employees are extremely friendly and their wines are oh so good! They mainly seem to specialize in sweet wines but they do have dry wines as well. They offer free tastings! Free!! Prices for their bottles of wine are reasonable as well. They have a holiday wine that is out of this world! All the wines I tried were very good. Try this place if you're a wine lover, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Grace Hill is the perfect date spot! The views were spectacular and the staff was knowledgeable and curteous. We loved the FREE wine tasting and tour. Don't forget to bring a picnic lunch. You can add a bottle of chilled wine to your picnic for a very low price (shockingly low prices for locally made wines). We brought italian and ate on the terrace overlooking the vineyard. It was peaceful and a one-of-a-kind experience for Kansas. Definitely add this stop to your "must visit" list. You will not be disappointed.

Yelp
I had purchased Peckerhead from the liquor store, loved it. When I saw it was made in Whitewater, KS, had to go visit. We went Saturday the 17th of June. I love this place. They let you taste whatever you want, and they do not skimp on the servings. Then, you take a tour of everything. They even fill your glass up to take on the tour. I will not drink any other kind of wine. I want to support a local business, plus they make very good wine. The fruit bomb and eclipse are my new favorites, purchased two bottles of each, the wine glasses we were using to taste with, and two bars of soap. Yes, they sell naturally made soap. They even sell jelly made out of their wines from Steve's Jams and Jellys. I have known about Steve's Jellys for a long time. Steve passed away a little while back, but Ken continues the product. Best jellys, sold with the best wines. Win win for us!

Yelp
My husband and I come out for special events several times a year and of course we buy wine. I am definitely a a big fan of dry wine and every one I have tried (white and red) at Grace Hill I have really enjoyed. We love to go out there and just relax with a glass of wine, sit outside, and enjoy the peace and quiet of the vineyard. So, so tranquil!

Heather T.

Yelp
Scheduled a private tasting for a friend's birthday party. Super friendly staff, gorgeous location, and excellent wine! Highly recommend for all occasions or a fun day trip with friends!

Yelp
Last Tuesday we showed up at the winery on our way home to Kansas City unaware that they were closed. As we went to get back in our car, 2 young men came running out and asked us if we wanted to do a tasting even though they were technically closed. It ended up being a wonderful experience. We chose our flight to taste and were even given tastes off the flights. We had a wonderful time and were very impressed not only with their wine but their customer service. We have told everyone we know about our experience!!! So unusual in today's world. Obviously, they love their job and their wine. Wonderful experience!!

Yelp
Grace Hill offers locally grown and produced wine, as well as great scenic views out in the country. Their staff is welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable. It is evident that they love what they do! My fiance and I are having our wedding and reception at Grace Hill in June, and our questions have always been answered in a timely manner. We cannot wait to have our friends and family celebrate with us at this great location!

Renee J.

Yelp
Yesterday we decided to take a ride out to Grace Hill Winery. From our home in Shawnee Kansas the drive was a bit under 3 hours and so worth the ride. Peckerhead Red has been a favorite wine from there for some time and was one reason we wanted to drive out to see the winery itself. The wine tasting was fun and our tour was great as well! They have great areas to sit and enjoy the wine afterwards. All their wines were good and we brought home a case of a variety of their wines to share with friends at home. If you have time make sure you go out and visit the winery you won't be disappointed. Make sure you check their days/hours as they are not open every day.

Yelp
Great place for an afternoon with friends. Just a short drive from downtown Wichita. The wine tasting selection was compiled to match individual taste. The staff was knowledgeable of the wine and the vineyard history. Highly recommended.

Cinda S.

Yelp
I was at Grace Hill Winery for a family wedding reception and we could not have been treated better. The place is wonderfully secluded, beautiful scenery, and gracious hosts and hostesses to all who attended the event. We required a great deal of moving of furniture and bringing in of rental equipment but everyone was cool with anything we did to the venue. Also I'm not a big wine drinker but after a few tries the employees found just the right wine for a non-wine person. I would suggest others to use this as their venue also.

Yelp
We had a great time at Grace Hill Winery enjoying a free tasting. Staff was awesome and very knowledgeable. They take great pride in their work. We met the legendary Cat and the dog named Georgia which are featured on their own wine bottles. We definitely left with a few bottles. I only wish we lived closer so we could visit on a regular basis.
