"Chef Michael Doyle, previously of Bywater’s Maurepas Foods and Press Street Station, will lead the new Gracious Bakery + Cafe, opening inside the New Orleans Culinary and Hospitality Institute (NOCHI) in January. The fourth location of Gracious Bakery + Cafe will have an expanded menu with a focus on lighter dishes informed by Levantine spice profiles including a short rib debris sandwich with Harissa slaw on a Challah bun and Piri Piri fried chicken with tabasco peppers, cornmeal waffle and Steen’s cane syrup. The cafe will be open to the public as well as a gathering place for students and faculty Monday through Saturday." - Clair Lorell

"The substantial chicken salad sandwich with pickled onions at Gracious Bakery won’t sit in the pit of your stomach and weigh you down when it takes everything you have to power through the afternoon with 100+ degree heat index temps. And somehow tarragon invokes both calmness and deliciousness. Multiple locations: in Mid City on Jeff Davis, in the Garden District on St. Charles, and Uptown on Prytania." - Nora McGunnigle

Loved this cute cafe. We had lunch here and both ate hand pies which were delicious! We also had cookies and bought baked goods for breakfast the next day. All of it was awesome!

I was very disappointed in this experence. My wife and I came in around 12:30 on a Monday. I ordered the antipasto sandwich with chips. The chips were obviously the end of the bag because they were mostly crumbs. The real disappointing factor for me was the baguette used for the sandwich. It was so hard it was inedible. The second picture is what is left of the food that I could not eat. We also got a creme puff, a mini almond pound cake and a chocolate cupcake. The creme puff was still a little frozen and was soggy on the bottom. The almond pound cake was nice, it was dense and the almond flavor was nice. The cupcake was flavorless a bit dry and freezer burnt. I find this confusing because they had a basket on the counter that said "day olds". I'm not sure why they sell "day olds" at a discount if nothing in their bakery is fresh made. Over all the counter help was very pleasant and the store was clean and bright looking with a casual welcoming atmosphere.

This place is amazing! I found Gracious Bakery after an aerial class at Crescent City Aerial Arts nearby. The bacon, egg and cheese biscuit with pesto is to die for. The banana nut bread is so moist (sorry, I know that’s a gross word lol). I just got a blueberry cream cheese turnover to-go so I’ll have to update on how that is. The iced caramel latte is also delicious! Shanice is so kind and welcoming. We come back most of the time just to see her! Gracious also appears to be LGBTQ+ friendly with a NOLA pride flag inside.

None of the bakery items I tried was overly sweet at the Gracious Bakery and Cafe. The Salted Caramel Cupcake was one of the best cupcakes I've ever tasted. The Almond Croissant was delicious.

Food was wonderful, everything was clean, but the service was outstanding! There were even a few gluten free options (did not discuss if they were celiac safe, as my husband was not with us.) The chocolate coconut bear claw was so light and flaky my daughter ate it in layers. Definitely worth a stop for tasty treats or a meal!

I've been wanting to get here for a while since I've heard good things. Went today and found a surprisingly busy cafe. I go for the pastry and found a solid selection with a few interesting twists like the guava/cream cheese turnover. The chocolate croissant with carmel filling was really delicious. Lots of options for more meal oriented pastries. They were out of the brew I wanted so I had to go with another, however I don't expect the world to quit turning for that. I'll certainly go back if I'm in the area...

Gracious is a lunchtime savior next to Xavier. The patisserie is hard to turn down when you're supposed to be choosing your lunch. Great coffee and very consistently friendly service, especially Allison.
