"Mike Isabella’s seven-year-old flagship restaurant Graffiato has shut off its lights for good, marking the latest piece of bad news for the troubled Top Chef alum. A source inside the restaurant group told Eater that Italian-inspired Graffiato is “indeed closed.” A Popville tipster noted the 130-seat restaurant was locked on Tuesday night during dinner service hours, with no explanation posted on the door. Rent-related woes surfaced last week, with Douglas Development suing for more than $28,000 in alleged unpaid rent and other fees, reported Washingtonian. Its location at 707 6th Street NW is currently listed for lease." - Tierney Plumb

I experienced a full 3-course meal here and left very happy. The price to portion ratio wasn't great, but it's really not that type of restaurant. Their dishes are meant to be a little edgy by incorporating flavors outside the norm of traditional Italian. I was impressed by their antipasto salad, but the main dish (chicken thighs) were just okay. Service was great and timely on the plus side. All in all, this place makes for a nice "fancy" Italian dinner outing, but I'd be just as happy to go to any other good Italian place with traditional dish recipes.

An interesting restaurant near Capital One Arena and Chinatown. Chef Mike Isabella has an interesting take on Italian food. We went during the summer so his menu was "Jersey Shore". Seafood boils of different types with a great sauce and peel & eat. When we arrived we were taken to our booth which was upstairs. My wife had the spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti was more like angel hair. And the tomatoes that were in the sauce were fresh and cooked into meal. They had a few beers on draft. A couple more in bottles and cans. We ordered the zeppoles for dessert. They were exquisite since they were warm and had a side of Bavarian cream.

Incredible! The Chef's special with wine pairings was absolutely devine. The courses kept building upon each other, culminating with an inspired desert selection.

Got the agnolotti, hanger steak, and the "The Countryman" Pizza. The food came out promptly, and the agnolotti and hanger steak were tremendous. Two of the best dishes I've had in DC. For dessert we ordered the zeppole and cannoli. Both were amazing and I'd highly recommend them. The plates are very small, but I'd recommend 2 per person, which should leave you with just enough room to try their amazing desserts.

The service and food are worth returning and why I recommend this restaurant. My favorite dishes are the gnocchi and the rigatoni. The flavors of these dishes are abundant. The size of the dish is enough to "hit the spot" though I wish I could have so much more! Price range per plate of this restaurant is between $15 and $25.

Posed a question on Facebook last night about best spots to eat in DC close to Verizon Center. Graffiatos & Poets & Busboys were the two top responses. As Graffiatos was closer, we chose them. I'm very glad we made that choice as it's an excellent place to grab a bite before a show. It was everything we were looking for. As we were putting name on wait list, some chairs opened up at bar, which was our seating preference so we sat at the bar instead of dining room. The bartender was really nice, took our order and got us drinks right away. We ordered the White House pizza. While we were waiting, the hostess let us know our pizza was taking longer than usual. (We never even noticed). She gave us a plate of caprese salad to tide us over. Drinks were fine. A glass of prosecco which was good and an Indi cola. Our pizza was delivered a few minutes later. White pizza with black pepper honey and prosciutto. Every bite melted in my mouth. Absolutely delicious. We did a quick dine & dash last night as we were going to the Arcade Fire show across the street. It's a perfect date spot with a chill vibe and cool atmosphere and the staff is very friendly. I can't wait to go back and try more of their menu. Thanks For a great visit Graffiatos!!

My wife and I came back here for the cream cheese filled croutons in their Caesar salad. Sadly we learned that they no longer have croutons or salads. All that remains are highly priced pizzas and pasta. Only a person who just spent $12.25 for a beer at Capital One Arena would think that $4.00 is a reasonable price for a fountain drink. The best thing about my dining experience was that I got to eat most of my wife's meal since she found it unappetizing. There are better options in the area.
