Pretty high standard of pre-made sushi in the city. The prices can sneak up on you, especially if you come in with a hungry stomach, but it’s a convenient treat to have in the city for a quick lunch. Will definitely be coming back.

Grain and Sea is hands down one of the best sushi spots in Chicago! The variety of rolls is amazing, everything is so fresh, and the flavors are spot on. On top of that, the staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which makes the whole experience exceptional every time. Highly recommend! 🎉

Novel concept, tasty, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. This mixed 10-piece was $15. Great for those who love variety or looking for a fresh take on the sushi experience. Would recommend.

Really great new lunch spot in the loop with plenty of seating. The sushi is all mix and match and priced by weight. They have a good selection of rolls, nigiri, inari, and gunkin. I was very impressed with how fresh everything tasted even though it was all pre-prepared! My pet peeve at these spots is that everything is too cold in order to keep it fresh but these were the perfect temperature and the staff seemed to be making everything fresh as they were running low. Also, major props to the staff for making my experience seamless and not daunting at all! They explained everything the minute I walked through the door and answered all of my questions. Last but not least, there is plenty of seating if you want to dine in with your colleagues or friends! Overall, 5/5! Will definitely be returning since this is right by my office.

I learned about this place on Instagram and it did not disappoint. The concept is simple, you pay by weight of the items you select. The staff was polite and greeted us when we entered. Definitely will come back when I'm in the area.

It was the food was fresh and the service was fantastic. I went with my mom and we were both able to get food we enjoyed.

I came here an hour before close. The sushi was discounted 30% off with whatever remaining rolls were left, but any fresh ones could be made to order without the discount. I’m not sure how long the rolls have been sitting out at room temperature, but the nigiri were drying up. Overall, I like this concept to try different a variety of rolls without the full roll commitment, but it seems like it’s better during the lunch rush hour versus a go-to dinner spot. With the discount, I would say this place is a good price but without it I think it’s overpriced for the quality and taste. The staff here are friendly and welcoming!

The sushi and rolls are so fresh! Loved the variety and it tasted really good. The service was quick. The rolls are made ready to pick up and the flavors are really good. This is also so affordable, they sell it by the ounces and it's right downtown so you can come on by and grab lunch or dinner. It's so convenient and quick and easy to grab.

Not sure why this place barely has any reviews because it went viral on social media. Super unique concept of which you get to create your own sushi box without committing to the same pieces (unless you want to). There were a variety of nigiri, inarizushi, and rolls which were all FRESH, buttery, and tasty. I believe it's $1.25/oz and the total came to about $40 with a drink. Service here is super friendly and the shop is spacious enough with a lot of tables. Must try if you're in Chicago!

Extremely solid and perhaps one of my new favorite lunch spots. Grain and sea is a new pay by weight sushi spot with a variety of rolls for everyone. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted and they explain the process if you're new. It's fairly simple-everything is clearly labeled with allergens marked and it is VERY clean. I felt extremely comfortable eating from here. They have an impressive vegetarian selection and I tried a little bit of everything. They offer edamame and seaweed salad as side options (after you get your sushi-not included in pay by weight system) as well as a few bottled beverages. They have all the variations of soy sauce you could want as well as wasabi and ginger and a mayo based sauce too. A few tables are available inside and all looked clean. No notes. Really solid and I've enjoyed my lunch! Thanks.

I love this sushi spot so much! There's a great selection of sushi to choose from and the staff are all really friendly. You can mix and match your sushi if you want to try multiple rolls. Can't go wrong coming here for a quick bite to go

This was a lovely surprise that I found when I was running errands downtown. It is buffet style, choose the pieces you want to create your own box. They had a great assortment of rolls, so I didn't have to choose just one, but sampled a piece from a bunch of different rolls. They charge by weight, and each piece came out to around $1-1.50 per piece. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The place itself is casual and very laid back. Given the variety and convenience, thought this was a huge bargain.

Wow amazing sushi spot that is affordable and delicious. The rolls are where it's at for sure. I would go straight for those. All around awesome pick. Wish we had something like this where I live!

Love this place and the selection. Also don't understand why there aren't many reviews - it seems to get good flow because of the location, but it really is the only option in the area for take away sushi (which they do very well).

IT WAS SO CHEAP FOR GREAT SUSHI !!!! Came here with three friends visiting from Cali and it was delicioussssss and the build your own box is priced by weight. Staff is so nice and kind they have opened about 3 weeks ago so go give em a try!

Quality sushi and quality service! everyone is so friendly and they have the best recommendations. Atmosphere is casual and cool. A perfect spot at a perfect price :)
