Grainmaker Fast-Casual Restaurant Expanding From Boston to Somerville - Eater Boston

"A fast-casual restaurant in downtown Boston that serves an entirely gluten- and dairy-free menu of grain bowls, salads, and tacos will get a counterpart in Somerville’s Davis Square. Grainmaker will take over the former Amsterdam Falafelshop space at 248 Elm St. and could open as early as June. Grainmaker first opened at 91 Summer St. in October 2017, describing itself as a 'Southeast Asian street market.'" - Dana Hatic

Gluten and dairy free - everything! What a great find for those who eat with celiacs. Here you do not have to give up on flavor to enjoy a great meal! We had one teriyaki bowl, one make your own with crispy tofu, chicken tacos, potstickers, and plantain chips with mango salsa. Everything was fantastic!

If missing key ingredients, uncooked food, and making you ill is your jam, go to this place. I swear I am having the worst luck with the food in Massachusetts! Excited to leave. Apparently they have been having some issues at this location, because the ticket even had this weird note on it like it was a line item to check to make sure the food was correct. They sure didn't, because it sure wasn't right. My curry order HAD NO CURRY. The tofu in both orders was soft and not firm or crisp and was not seasoned. The sweet potatoes were not cooked. It was like they had even been fully blanched, and the food in general was missing flavor. Then my intestines told me, it was going to make sure anything I did consume of this meal was going to come out in a hurry. I called twice and when the line did pick up I was instantly disconnected. No one picked up the phone, so I sent an email in hopes of a refund. If I had the ability to stay in have my nice clean kitchen and cook from a stocked pantry, I would. My life just isn't set up like that right now as much as I wish it was. Getting food delivered is supposed to make your life easier not more unpleasant and stressful. I am actively considering whether or not to call the health department because of how quickly I have gotten sick. This establishment is the only place I have eaten from all day, so I know it was't anything else. If you want to end up on the toilet after subpar food, eat here. Otherwise, stay away. Hope they get their act together.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while now, finally had the chance today. It’s so hard to find decent gluten free options sometimes, this place is a real lifesaver. We tried a bunch of things and our favorite was the Orange line chicken with rice. Will definitely be back to get that again! And the dumplings of course (Just as good as Wangs dumplings I swear- Which are the real deal and if you can eat gluten get over there to get some of the leek dumplings ASAP, you won’t be disappointed. We used to get a bag of frozen dumplings - 50 for $13, not sure if they still sell those ). I love that they have eco-friendly packaging and a deal where you can trade in a glass container. I always really appreciate this when restaurants follow through from start to finish regarding environmental concerns. Looking forward to trying the tacos next time.

Disappointing. Ordered the Market Noodles. Lacking in flavor. The carrots were brown/oxidized. The “crispy” tofu was soft, mushy and had a crumbly batter on it that was off-putting. Still, edible and other veggies were fresh.

We had The Local and the Chef Curry... fresh greens and sharp flavors! Loved the various options and combinations that they had to offer! Generous portions too!

EAT HERE - I have eaten here often for the last year and the service is fantastic and it matches the amazing food, very grateful to have this healthy food option locally! A few favorites: •Dumplings (so delicious) •All of their tacos are so tasty •My go to is a rice bowl with chicken and lots of toppings w/ the ginger miso dressing •I typically order a few sides of veggies from here weekly (bok choi and sweet potato) •They care about their customers so if you have questions or issues they will make it right

Google
This place is usually great service and great food for a good price. But today was terrible. We ordered ahead but still ended up waiting 30 minutes when we arrived. It took 45 minutes from order to getting our food. The guy taking our order was maskless (though the establishment requires mask from customers) and not courteous either. Then we got home and my wife spit out a big chunk of saran wrap that had been in the food. yuck.

Google
Awesome fast-casual bowl place with lots of Asian-inspired ingredients and sauces. Great portion size for the price range, fast and easy pickup service. A great new addition to the restaurants in Davis Sq.

Yelp
Overall (3.5/5): Solid fast casual healthy Asian fusion lunch spot at a decently good price with a healthy assortment of items. Food: The OG is a creamy sesame flavored salad rice bowl that really emphasizes on the "fusion" of "Asian fusion". I'm not a huge fan of Kale and would sub it out for green/string beans in the future, but the sauce, and assortments were passable. A lot of the items were mush, but to be expected. Portion size was respectable given the cost and included lots of carb heavy items (sweet potatoes, rice, etc). Ambience/Service: empty on a Monday for lunch so the preparation was done quickly and seating was attainable. However, overall not much seating (maybe 7 bar seats and 2 tables?).

Yelp
FOOD 4/5 I had the OG with chicken for takeout. Great flavor and texture! There's crunchy veggies mixed with tender chicken and thin sliced carrots. Mild spice and jalapeño mixed with sweet sauce. Great combo overall. We also tried the green goddess - i feel like you can make this at home but their dressing was good. Overall great place for healthy food. SERVICE 4/5 They forgot utensils for my to-go order, it should've been checked off from the Grubhub app. Otherwise they were nice. PRICE 4/5 Solid price for a healthy and tasty meal.

Yelp
I dropped in here on a whim -- after all, Davis Square has so many alternatives -- and now it's my regular place. The food is very tasty and healthy, the portions are all a good size. The staff is friendly. The dining area is cozy. And did I say how good the food is?

Yanrui X.

Yelp
Fresh food fast service and delicious ,you can choose anything you want and make great combination! Perfect for group under 3!

Yelp
Got a ricebowl, I was generally very unimpressed with the flavors. It feels lackluster in comparison to other build your own bowl options in the area. There was a good portion of protein. Service was excellent though, very nice people

Yelp
I was excited to find Grain Maker by looking for restaurants with vegan options near my home. I ordered the Chef Curry with tofu. The actual flavor and seasoning of the curry was delicious. It wasn't too overpowering and had a perfect amount of spice. The fried tofu was a little inconsistent. Some were fully coated in the batter, and others weren't, but overall it was fine. The sweet potatoes actually tasted a lot better than they looked and were nice and tender. What brings this review down for me were the green beans. It was crunchy and inedible. I couldn't eat most of it. I wished it was cooked a little bit more to become tender. I also ordered the Thai Basil Limeade. It was delicious, refreshing, and had a great amount of sweetness and sour. I'll be coming back, but not for the green beans!

Yelp
Good overall, but pricey for what you get. Grainmaker is basically Dig Inn or Sweetgreen in Davis square. The food itself is alright (a bowl is a bowl wherever you go) but the staff was fairly new and needed more training. We had time to wait while the junior staffers asked the more senior staff questions, but the others in line behind us were clearly getting frustrated. The total for 2 bowls was almost $30 with no extras - kind of ridiculous in my opinion when Chipotle is one block up the street. It's about the same portion size as a burrito bowl, but similar to the fact that the staff scoops as much/little as they feel like so if you come on a good day it may be worth the price. Overall I'm not sure Grainmaker is a great value, but the taste was good so if I ever have a coupon or promotion I may be back.

Yelp
Extremely disappointing! This is a nice short and looks like their chilled meals are very tasty, but I'm not so sure I'll come back to check them out... I ordered the salmon poke (should be $12.50), and asked whether it' was possible to have half salmon and half tuna. The answer was "of course". I also requested to replace the rice base with greens (same response). As expected, the nice lady put half a spoon of tuna and half a spoon salmon (LOOKED AND TASTED OLD AND GROSS, and should definitely not be consumed raw). NOT as expected, I was charged $19 for that poke alone(!!!).. I must say that the other dish was just ok (yes, nothing exciting). This was an odd and unpleasant experience overall, but mostly really not worth the price. :( Edit: Grainmakers PR folks clearly did not actually read my review, and replied with a condescending, smart*ss comment . Just another reason to not visit (besides the mediocre food and over charging)...

Yelp
Welcome to Davis! I just tried this place the first day. It is a simple concept of choosing a base (rice, salad or Cauliflower rice) followed by vegetables, proteins and toppings. The ingredients looks fresh and i am a big fan of Cauliflower rice. I got that with chicken, Brussels sprout and chili garlic sauce. It was delicious and refreshing. I will definitely going back to try more and hope the quality of the ingredients don't change
google avatar

Joop V.

Yelp
I love Grainmaker as a new addition to Davis Square neighborhood. You get to pick your base (white/brown rice, rice noodles, greens, cauliflower rice), meat (chicken, crispy tofu, steak, prawn, etc), veggies sauce and garnish (too many to name!) or their pre-customed taste profile for you. Most people go for these (you get to see the food and mix/match whatever you want as you walk along the food counter, too). They also have some tacos, guac & banana chips and draft beer for you to order, too. Most people i saw...ordered the dishes I mentioned in above paragraph though..i guess it's much easier to make up your mind what you want to eat when you see food being made fresh/lying there to greet you right in front of you!!). Whats good about this place is..it's gluten free and simply healthy food (or much healthier than other nearby places) no matter how you slice it :) The only one negative is..the counter/seating area can be a bit dirty. I get it there are only a few people working so..it could be a bit busy to look after the cleanliness of the place here and there. But given how most of the tike the place was never too crowded..it would be nice to have somewhere clean to sit and munch on such tasty and healthy meal.

Yelp
I am quite surprised Grainmaker has 4 stars. In my opinion, it's not all that good. There are so many places out there that do these sorts of bowls, and many of them are far better. (Life Alive, Spyce, and the former Whole Heart Provisions are all so delicious). My husband and I have eaten here twice. The first time wasn't good at all - I got a dish with brown rice and the rice wasn't cooked through, so it was tough and almost crunchy. (They had to remake my bowl with another grain since that whole batch of rice was underdone). This time around, I got "the orange line" with crispy tofu, which is more like breaded deep-fried tofu. The tofu was good, and I assume it's supposed to mimic "orange chicken" from an American style Chinese restaurant. The sauce was super sugary and sweet. We also tried a chicken taco and it was bad. We didn't even eat it... it was cold, the corn tortilla was soggy, and the cabbage wasn't good- too much vinegar or something? The chicken was dry and tasted off. Im not going to bother ordering from Grainmaker again based on these two experiences- plenty of other good places to grab a poke bowl or sandwich in Davis square.

Yelp
Ordered grain maker through grub hub today and it was good! The delivery was quite fast despite the snowstorm. I got the hipstir with kale and pork meatballs. All the veggies looked super fresh and well cooked. The portions were great too! The only downside was that It had too much dressing for me, which made it very salty. I wish they had the option to control how much dressing you would like on it. The kale and pork meatballs had a lot of flavor but they were slightly dry.

Yelp
My favorite place to eat in the area! Food is fresh and everything on the menu is dairy free and gluten free - high quality proteins. Have been going here often for the last year. I highly recommend if you're looking for something delicious tasting but also on the healthier side. It's worth getting a few sides of their veggies for later as well- love the bok choi and sweet potatoes :)
google avatar

Alyssa F.

Yelp
I've been on the hunt for new gluten free dinner spots and was excited to try Grainmaker. The menu looked interesting and having a 100% GF menu means the risk of cross contamination is non-existent. Win! I tried the salmon poke bowl and was underwhelmed. I liked that the bowl was full of fresh veggies and the Thai guac was a nice spicy addition, but I couldn't get passed the gummy salmon. The quality of the fish was lacking and it really brought down the quality of the bowl. Ultimately, it's not a spot that I would rush back to based on the quality of the protein, but maybe I just caught them on a bad night?

Yelp
I really wanted to love this restaurant since the intersection of vegan and gluten free comes up often for me given the people in my life. They also have a great concept in general. We ordered a bunch of dishes: dumplings, the orange line, chef curry, market noodles. There were nice veggies in these and everyone liked the dumplings, but the flavors of the the rice and noodle dishes were bland and almost non-existent. Maybe the staff didn't want to spare too much sauce that day? Or they want you to pay more for "extra sauce" to have something with flavor? It's a bad take-out day when you've spent a lot of $ and the diners are opening the cupboards at home looking for gojuchang to add to the food. So disappointed and hoping we just caught them on a bad day or something.

Dil S.

Yelp
Tried using their site as recommended to order and the 20% off paid for the delivery fee, but they still use doordash so food arrived lukewarm. Was still tasty and both entrees showed up so I'll throw 'em another star!
google avatar

Samantha R.

Yelp
So very delicious! I asked for a mix of jasmine rice with cauliflower rice which I loved. Highly recommend for a healthier option when dining out.
google avatar

Christophe R.

Yelp
I ordered the salmon poke and chicken taco. The chicken taco was cold and salmon poke did not look fresh (tasted bad). I was very disappointed given the previous reviews I read
google avatar

Johny H.

Yelp
This is a pretty poor replacement for the previous counter service place that was here. They aren't accepting cash during covid so I asked to pay on line, that's cool but their website crashed a bunch of times. When I asked the clerk to help but he kept just saying do it online it's not that hard. The guy was very dismissive of me and when I asked for clarification since on what he was asking he refused. The food was ok, not really worth the price in Somerville. They had a lot of room in their outside place. I suppose it makes sense. I doubt I'll return despite the counter service setup being convenient. Anyway I was disappointed in the value and service. Maybe that guy just had a bad day or whatever, but it really made the ordering process difficult.
google avatar

Mona J.

Yelp
The food here is amazingly good and I want to give them a 5/5 because they definitely deserve it. Staffs are very polite. The outdoor sitting is very lovely. I also like how their bowls look like. Their coconut curry sauce and lime-chili vinegar sauce is so good.
google avatar

Brett M.

Yelp
I didn't find the food fresh or tasty. It upset my stomach for the next two days. Yuck.
google avatar

Lauren P.

Yelp
Love this place! Just found this spot a week or so ago and oh my it's tasty! I love the healthy options and the create your own option which is super personalized so I get all my yummys in one bowl. Tastes fresh and is filling and healthy! Thanks I will definitely be back!
google avatar

Meredith L.

Yelp
I love this place!! I'm celiac and vegan, and graduating the rest of my immediate family due to allergies. The staff is amazingly accommodating and engaging. We need more locations :-) Laura was so engaging on the phone when we needed to adjust proteins. Really so customer focused. I think we were given extra extras. Wanted to call out Laura in the Somerville location for exceptional customer relations - can't wait for the opportunity to meet you at the store! You were so proactive to call me about certain ingredient shortages. You offered up options, we worked it out in 3 minutes and had a great conversation. It was a perfect best case scenario for social distancing. You're the best
google avatar

Rachel G.

Yelp
Eek! I live super close to here, so I gave it a few weeks after opening and ventured in. I ordered tacos in the hopes of sampling more than one of the protein bases; the person behind the counter kindly told me about a special if I got three tacos and also let me substitute in tofu on one of them, and for this niceness the restaurant earns a star. In the end I got to try the chicken, the sweet chili shrimp, and the tofu. Had my doubts about the shrimp since I could see it lying dried out in the pan, but I love shrimp so I took a gamble. Things went downhill. The tacos were served in a cardboard box despite being "for here"; not so green. I forgave them because the clever design did hold the tacos up above the mini ocean of too much sauce, then redacted the forgiveness when at the end there was no compost bin. The tacos themselves were not to my taste; I found them over-spiced, and one contained the rubbery shrimp I was afraid of. Reader, I ate them anyway (along with plantain chips). All this was a lead-up to having an unsettled stomach and gut for the next five hours. No puking, but I had a lot of gas and barely made it to the gym. Nothing settled it except eight hours of sleep and everyone's best friend in these situations, peristalsis. For now I'm mentally marking this as "not food".
google avatar

Jillian K.

Yelp
The asian-style chipotle we've all been waiting for!! A nice, newer place in Davis square with some fun & different options for quick bite. Have ordered food here twice, and both times have gotten the tuna poke bowl. Better poke than the poke place across the street!! Good quality tuna, well cooked rice and delicious toppings. They even have thai guacamole which is so good! There are also plantain chips at the end of the counter to purchase along with your bowl which I thought were delicious but the servings are so big you don't really need anything else. The service is super friendly and once offered us free beer samples even they knew we had no intention of getting any drinks. Many options on the menu including the option to create your own meal. Definitely will be back to try more options on the menu. Some of the options do get pricey for a quick eats place - the tune poke was $15...
google avatar

Susan K.

Yelp
I usually get the same thing from here. They are called market street noodles. I have also tried a rice dish, different types of drinks, plantain chips and deserts. I have mostly gotten takeout but, I have eaten inside a few times. The tacos look really tasty. Everything is delicious and reasonably priced. FYI, the brownies and cookies are extremely rich.
google avatar

Angela M.

Yelp
Really wanted to love this place but I'm being generous with 3 starts because it's a new spot and they have time to take feedback and improve. First, the positives: Really friendly service and good variety of options on the menu. Unfortunately the food didn't deliver. I'll echo what another reviewer mentioned, the cauliflower rice was tasteless and almost watery as if they shredded a boiled cauliflower to make it. My frozen cauliflower that I make at home is much better than this base. The chicken had good flavor but a bit too much spice for my liking. I also ordered the Brussel sprouts that had a lot of promise because the overall flavor was good but masked by the char they tried to get on them that ended up just fasting like they were burned. The few pieces that were cooked properly were great. I'll give them another shot in a month or so and revise this if it's warranted. With such friendly staff, I can tell they take pride in what they're doing and expect the food to improve.

Yelp
A nice little place in Davis Square to quickly get really good food. They have some set options, but also make it easy to customize to get whatever you want. I had the rice with various veggies, tofu, red curry sauce, with scallion and cilantro on top. It was delicious, fun, filing, and satisfying, so I was quite happy.

Lisa T.

Yelp
I came on the first day it opened. It was quiet and nicely decorated but seemed a bit dead. It's nice to have more options in Davis, but I didn't find what I ordered to be flavorful or appetizing in any way. And that's coming from someone who can chug kale smoothies, loves Whole Heart Provisions, and is a pseudo-vegan on most days. The best part of my cauliflower rice, Brussels sprouts, sweet potato, and tofu bowl was probably the sweet potato. The cauliflower rice was really just cauliflower without much seasoning on it at all. Brussels sprouts were tasteless. I'm glad I got the peanut sauce on the side so I could sort of hide the smell of cauliflower. (P.S. I love cauliflower so I'm surprised I didn't like this rice) My bowl came out to over $10 so I think it's a little more expensive than I want to pay for just mediocre healthy-ish food.
google avatar

Lee E.

Yelp
Ordered through uber eats. Had the lemongrass steak tacos and Ginger Vibes with seven spice chicken and they did not disappoint! Both were super flavorful and were the perfect size. The GV was a tad oily but that's easily taken care of (I asked for less oil in later orders). The Seven Spice chicken was delightfully balanced and surprisingly not too salty. The tacos were fresh with a nice crunch from the cabbage and plain ol' tasty! LOVED EVERY BITE! WORTH A TRY!
google avatar

Madison W.

Yelp
I had heard so many great things about this place, but I am sad to say that I'm disappointed. The portions were very inconsistent. My bowl was considerably smaller than everyone in my party, and was lacking in the protein that I had chosen. I did enjoy the flavor of the poke, and the vegetable/protein options were nice. However, for the portion of the meal (as well as the price of the extra side of plantain chips), I don't think it was worth it. Considering the wealth of positive reviews I have heard about Grainmaker, I would be willing to try it again in hopes that I just caught it on a bad day or that I ordered the wrong thing.

Lizzie B.

Yelp
Food is decent. But the orders are continuously wrong. This time I ordered a Thai Basil lemonade and they gave me a passion fruit one which was all packed up before I got there.

Jose Antonio A.

Yelp
This place is great! Nice staff good service and very clean. Got this bowl with chicken, rice (which I'm very picky with) and avocado, good food quality and very tasty. Everything was so yummy! Lemonade very refreshing.
google avatar

Simone B.

Yelp
So delicious. There are a ton of vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options which makes for a very healthy lunch. I made my own cauliflower rice bowl and made it vegan, and it was DELICIOUS and super filling/satisfying. Anything you get here will be great. The menu is huge and there are a lot of options for everyone. + they sold kombucha which made it 10x better. Highly recommend.

Yelp
my favorite place to come to when i come to somerville! Amazing earthy food that has great taste to it. My friends love it here.

Yelp
Ordered food Saturday night around 4p on their website using Appfront. I placed the order for 6:15p. The food never showed up and the option to place a call through the Appfront app did not work. I then called the restaurant and the woman had me confused with someone else despite me telling her my name several times. There was definitely a communication barrier and from what I could gather the food was sitting at the restaurant. I told her that I wanted a refund. A driver showed up not long after the call with a baby crying in the back of her car and our food with a stapled receipt that had 6:15p on it. It was now 7:15p. The restaurant did not even send fresh food, they sent the food (including dumplings) that had been sitting for at least one hour. That would never be acceptable if we were eating in and it is not acceptable for delivery. I took a bite of my food, it was cold and inedible, so I threw it out. And when I looked at the bill, there was a tip added in without my knowledge. Definitely want my money back.

LeRoy W.

Yelp
We have been to davis square many times, since we live nearby. When we saw Grainmaker, we were excited to try it! Overall, the food was fine. We got a local salad, a green goddess, and the hipstir. We also got a side of mango salsa and some passion fruit lemonades. The presentation of the food was nice, and colorful. The first thing we noticed was how small the mango salsa was. It was $3 which seemed overpriced, but it was good. Some of the leaves in the salads seemed a bit big, too big to fit into your mouth. The hipstir was very good and had a nice dressing. The passion fruit lemonades were very nice and refreshing. The only thing was that you couldn't really taste the tofu in the crispy tofu. It just tasted like breading, and I would prefer just plain tofu. Other than that it was a very pleasant outdoor lunch!

Yelp
They make it easy to eat healthy! When you have delicious and fresh options in front of you, why eat junk? I loved this so so much. Fresh, tasty, and lots of phenomenal options!
google avatar

Natalie R.

Yelp
I love this place. The shrimp taco is my favorite, But the chicken and steak are very good as well. I've seen that they also do salads. I definitely want to check them out. I love the flavors and whole foods that come out of this place.

Yelp
This place is unbelievably delicious. Go for a build your own" with lemongrass steak, cauliflower rice, sweet potatoes, broccoli/carrots, cashews, shallots, pickled carrots and sweet/sour orange chili sauce. Excellent value and incredible flavors. The guys working there this Saturday were fast and friendly.

Marlena B.

Yelp
The food is delicious, but the service is horrible. We ordered food for delivery and only got half of the order. We called them up and they said that they made the food, put it in the bag, and gave it to the driver. We did not get it and when we told them this, they claimed that it wasn't there fault. They refused to send the food that was missing and charged us anyways. They were rude and dismissive. We had to walk into Davis square to get the food and thats where we are at the time of me writing the review. Do better Grain-maker, this is very disappointing because we love their food.

Bbtoes T.

Yelp
After I posted my review, Chris at Grainmaker reached out to clarify their policy on 'dressing on the side'. He clarified that customers are actually NOT charged for dressing on the side, but need to pay for when request for extra dressing--which makes sense to me. Apparently there was a miscommunication with the store personnel. When Chris clarified this, I was out of state and have not had the chance to eat at Grainmaker since my review. I got back to Boston this morning and decided to order delivery with sauce on the side. I can verify that I was not charged extra for my request. I also want to highlight that the flavors of the food were even better than I remembered it to be. I noticed this time that Grainmaker makes their cauliflower rice fresh which means that even with cooking, the cauliflower rice stays crisp and not soggy. Huge difference if you have had experience with frozen cauliflower rice. I will continue to support this business, especially during these times. Keep up the good work, Chris and the team at Grainmaker!

Yelp
This place is awesome! I love that they served hot fresh vegetables all day! I recommend the passion fruit lemonade.

Jessie H.

Yelp
Underwhelming vegetarian options. I was hoping for a tasty, quick dinner......but ended in regret over a wasted meal in Davis (just so many other great choices). My main gripe is the lack and quality of veggies, but the sauces are delicious. I had the peanut noodle bowl with bok choy. The bok choy was over cooked and hardly any leafy green parts just stubby half gone bad stems.....ick. I splurged on a vegan cookie which was individually wrapped and equally terrible. There are so many good cookies in the world, why sell poorly made ones! They were dry, crumbly and overall not good. This place is more like DigInn and less like Life Alive, unfortunately.
google avatar

Brock H.

Yelp
Very disappointing. I was excited to try this place out and was intrigued by the menu. Unfortunately the execution was just poor. We ordered an OG bowl with shrimp and one of the salmon poke bowls. The sweet potatoes on the OG bowl were basically raw slices and just inedible, which ruined the dish overall given there are only a few other ingredients. The sauce was decent and saved the dish from being a complete disaster. The poke bowl was under-seasoned and under-sauced, and lacked flavor. Somewhere between the descriptions of the bowls and actually plating them they lost nearly every interesting element we thought we were getting. For the price there are far better fast casual options in Davis Square you should check out.

Yelp
Love this restaurant! The food is delicious and really great atmosphere. The curry is to die for!

A L.

Yelp
Ordered takeout, so perhaps the dishes quality was discounted, but overall, I had high expectations that were disappointed, especially given the price: Overpriced. The OG was mostly rice and a little sauce. Other ingredients were sparse. Miso ramen didn't taste like miso or ramen. And the beef was tough and roughly $1 per one inch piece (total of 3). Sparse veggies, sparse broth, little taste other than salt. Curry ramen was the only success. Good level of spice. Could use more protein for the price but overall, ok. Won't be ordering again. Plantain chips were fine but too salty. Guac was pretty standard.

Albert B.

Yelp
Inconsistent service and food. I went in today and one other customer was in the store just standing there, not sure what to do because the two employees were busy working behind the counter and didn't say anything. It seemed like the staff was focused on completing online orders. After a couple minutes he asked me where to order and I told him the end of the counter. This place needs some signage because I've seen multiple new customers come in and not understand where to go to order, and if the staff isn't acknowledging them when they walk in they just stand there. Once I got my bowl it was extremely meager portions more meager than I have ever seen before. I felt ripped off. This has happened before at this place, if it does again I'm not going back. I don't mean to trash the place, when they are working correctly the food is pretty good but not worth the gamble of what quality service/product you are going to receive.

Yelp
I ordered the chicken taco which was good. However my issue is that you served it in cardboard when I ordered "for here." You we're doing this for others too. Then I grabbed a disposable plastic fork for my food (try offering them by request behind the counter for take-out only). I then grabbed some of the complimentary water (thanks), but it was offered next to a stack of disposable plastic cups. I really expected a more eco-friendly approach, especially considering the location of your shop. Again, the food was good, but this stuff is really noticeable, especially when you've set up shop next door to a town that charges $.10 for plastic bags. Ditch the disposables please!
