Gramboussa Restaurant

We visited Gramboussa restaurant after Balos and Gramvousa boat trip (beginning of August) and were starving, however when we opened unique menu of this restaurant we didn't know where to start and what to take! We wanted to try Greek specialties, so ordered for starters Cretan salad and Kalitsounia with honey and cream. For main course we had difficulty to decide, wanted for sure to eat lamb, however, waitress was kind and advised not to take lamb chops as it wasn't lamb season, so we ended up ordering ossobuco, lamb from Gramvousa area with honey wrapped in pie crust as well as moussaka. Serving was beautiful, meat was fresh and soft in both ossobuco and gramvousa lamb, very tasty, moussaka was delicious as well! Afterwards, we ordered these beautiful dessert flower pots which were filled with chocolate and beetroot and it was so refreshing! There is huge fruit table for unlimited tasting as well! We had watermelon, plums (the best I had in my life without doubt), cherries, melon, pears, grapes and apples. We got raki on the house as well! It is extremely busy restaurant but they have enough staff and are highly organized! We were lucky to find parking spot in front of the restaurant, but parking space is pretty limited and I'd say it is the best to make a reservation, as waiting in line is frequent. I highly recommend this restaurant, it is also good for families with children, they have plenty of tables with various seating arangements. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely come back again!

The restaurant was recommended by greek friend of mine and described as serving traditional local cuisine. The ambience is nice with a lot of tables. Despite the size service was good and fast. All dishes tasted great, but the meat of beef osobuco was phenomenal. I don’t remember when was the last time I had that delicious prepared meat. Definitely a must visit place. Complimentary fresh fruits for dessert.

This place is an absolute gem in Crete! The food is simply outstanding. No matter what you order, it’s always cooked to perfection and full of flavor. But even that turns into something magical. They invite you to their beautiful garden, treat you to some raki, and let you relax until your table is ready. By the time you sit down to eat, you already feel the warm Cretan hospitality. Honestly, visiting this taverna should be on your Crete bucket list right next to Elafonisi, Falassarna, and the island’s other famous sights. A wonderful vibe, personally I loved the garden and bar area, and the autumnal displays of gourds and pumpkins throughout. We arrived without booking, it was busy but we had no problem getting a good table. I had the lamb shank in filo pastry and honey - delicious. There’s a free fruit cart. If you don’t want to eat, it’s still worth the visit for the garden bar area.

We had a great experience at Gramboussa Restaurant in Crete. There is a free parking lot located nearby, which makes visiting convenient. The restaurant has a lovely semi indoor and outdoor setting, and from the outdoor area you can enjoy a truly picturesque view. The seafood was very fresh and flavourful, prepared with simple, high-quality ingredients. While it was very good rather than extraordinary, the overall dining experience was still excellent. Adding to the charm, there were a few friendly cats roaming around the restaurant, which created a warm and authentic atmosphere. Gramboussa is definitely worth a visit for its fresh seafood, beautiful setting, and welcoming vibe.

A solid five stars for Cretan food in the middle of nowhere!! We went without expecting much, and We had a big and tasty lunch. The service was friendly, and welcoming. The restaurant views are beautiful and includes a typical Mediterranean style. I recommend to sit near balcony to have views of the sea. Salad and lamb was the best dishes we ordered. Also, do not forget the free fruit service the offer!!

We went for lunch without expecting much, but we were absolutely blown away. It turned out to be one of the best food experiences we’ve had in Greece. The service was excellent, friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The surroundings are truly beautiful and authentic, with every detail thoughtfully designed. You can really feel the care and love that’s been put into the place. The food was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. From presentation to taste, everything exceeded our expectations. We’ll definitely be coming back. A hidden gem worth visiting again and again!
