A beautiful resort, but depending on whether you are regular or Red Level will make a difference to your experience. Takes a while to navigate your way around and the map they give you at reception at check in is needed! The restaurants / pool bars offer full meals as opposed to snacks and they are not all open every day or at lunch time and there is a restaurant reserved just for Red Level. We had room only so it didn't bother us too much, but if you are half board or all inclusive other then the main buffet restaurant and I think the Oasis Bar you will need to make reservations. Food and drink is very expensive other than the Ariea Beach Bar which was not too bad. The lagoon pool is amazing and there is back entrance to get to the promenade where you can take a long walk by the sea. A short walk into the local village where there a few bars and restaurants - mainly fish and they are very Spanish so they don't all understand English. The bus stop is a few steps away where there are frequent buses which go between Los Gigantes and Los Cristanos with many stops on the way. A lovely hotel for families with small children, but probably not so much for teenagers. We found although it is a beautiful hotel it did lack atmosphere - no music by the pools. We had A club Melia room which was nice but not much of an outlook - garden room with bushes. There are many types of room and again depending on if you are Red Level or not is to where the room will be situated. Staff were very good and was nice to have a glass of bubbly upon our arrival.

Where to start! What a week we had here, almost without fault, if you’re on the fence; book it - it’s worth it!||The staff were all lovely, greeting you whenever you saw them, from the cleaners, to the pool staff to the restaurant staff and the chefs all we came across were delightful, and paid extra attention to our girls to make them feel so special. Mohamed, he treated us almost every meal time and was an absolute delight, the girls will talk about him for years! ||The pools were plentiful, whilst work was going on in the pirate pool it didn’t affect the area too much although granted, we spent the majority of our time in the massive saltwater infinity pool. The bars were well stocked and both alcohol and soft drinks were available most of the day, ice cream was also a family fave with a huge selection at the oasis bar||We ate in the Pangea restaurant for breakfast and evening meals and the range of food was unreal, so much choice and everything we ate was delicious, credit to the chefs! ||L’olio - the Italian restaurant was beautiful serving up some amazing food and incredible wood fired pizzas all within a beautiful setting at the end of the courtyard||Agave was largely our lunch choice until the penultimate day when the roof caught fire, now there was some initial chaos but the staff reacted quickly to get it under control as it was getting quite serious, huge praise to the guy from the pool concierge team who selflessly made it onto the roof to tackle the fire. The UK health and safety person inside me was looking behind open fingers but they got the job done and avoided major incident. One thing they could have done better was crowd control, people still walking past when the fire was at full chat but it was a bit of a panic situation for a while! ||Rooms were spacious, mini bar was well stocked and restocked everyday, view was lovely and we paid no extra for a view room, cleaners were friendly and always tucked the girls soft toys into bed ||I could go on…we want to go back. We will go back. For a family who want a bit of luxury without it being over hyped or pompous then this is your place! ||Thank you Gran Melia!

During my recent stay at the hotel, I unfortunately had a rather disappointing experience, especially in terms of service and food. From the beginning, the buffet was a complete nightmare. There were long queues to access the food, which was frustrating in itself, but the worst part was when I was finally assigned a table. It was completely dirty, with the previous customer's dishes still not cleared. This level of neglect in cleanliness is unacceptable and created a very poor impression from the start. Moreover, the employees seemed completely overwhelmed by the number of guests. While I understand that during peak season there can be a high influx of guests, the hotel should have anticipated this and hired enough staff to adequately attend to all the customers. For the price we paid, one would expect a much more efficient and personalized service. The overcrowding was not only evident in the restaurant but also in other areas of the hotel, such as the pool. It was practically impossible to find an available sunbed due to the large number of people. This excessive number of guests in all the facilities significantly impacted the overall experience negatively.

Overall, my stay at Gran Melia Palacio was a mixed experience. The hotel itself was nice with good food variety at Pangea and friendly staff. However, we were disappointed to discover upon check-in that the Mexican and Italian restaurants were closed due to a fire, with no prior notice. This left us with only Pangea, breakfast lunch and dinner which does get repetitive. Don't bother with the app either.||Our room change due to damp and sewage smell was delayed for three days despite repeated requests, they had provided 2 single beds pushed together a oppose to king size, one of the beds had a broken leg so my wife and I had to sleep on one of the singles whilst the hotel gave us lip service. Once relocated, our request for a "do not disturb" tag and a cot for our baby was mishandled, leading to our room being cleaned against our wishes multiple times. And the cot arriving at 10:30pm whilst my baby slept on my arms||The main restaurant had a significant fly problem, which was ignored by staff despite our concerns. My wife booked a massage at the Clarins spa however the masseuse who was visibly ill, coughing throughout the treatment onto her hands onto my wife's back, and leaving 15 minutes before the end of her treatment, with no explanation. The spa reception staff tried to argue and negotiate the price of the treatment, unprofessional, however nothing was charged in the end after persuasion and speaking with their peers.||Overall, the staff provided lip service rather than effective resolution of issues. For a supposed 5-star hotel, these experiences fell short of expectations. The management need to focus on better training and customer service, rather than deflecting responsibility. This is an honest review and I expect an honest answer, too many of their response are AI type responses which says a lot about the hotel.

The hotel is palatial in appearance and has a fabulous feeling to it. The room we had was big but a tad shabby, bath panel broken and marks on the bathroom surfaces. The bed was large and comfortable and the balcony was lovely even though we overlooked the staff parking area. The staff were all helpful and several were totally wonderful. You need their app for booking restaurants other than the main one, it was tedious trying to get bookings as spaces only open for two days ahead. The infinity pool was stunning, not heated and salt water. Not enough sunbeds or parasols as people would bag them with towels early😔. All the food was great to exceptional. We needed a gentle week to unwind and it was perfect. The gym and spa were well worth a visit too.

My wife and I stayed in red level all inclusive for 5 nights, the staff couldn’t do enough for us, we arrived at the main entrance and were taken by buggy to ref level. We were greeted by Jessica who was very friendly and helpful and explained everything to us with a complimentary glass of cava. She even booked all of our choice of restaurants for the time we were staying so need to use the app.|Our room was very nice and spacious and cleaned every day.|The food was amazing in every place we went, lunch at Agave was great and the tacos are a recommendation.|We had meals in Duo steak restaurant, oasis, L’olio Italian, Pangea and our favourite on the last night was Nani the Asian restaurant, the good here and the setting was great, food cooked to perfection and the staff very attentive. The staff on the whole at the hotel were very friendly and helpful.|Red level was great and relaxing, the staff were always on hand and served us at the sun loungers with drinks, the adult pool was warm and there was never a problem with getting a sun lounger in the mornings.|Overall the hotel is fantastic with great hard working staff and it is a place we would recommend to anyone and will definitely return.

This is not a 5* hotel. The food is awful, whatever is left of breakfast is being reheated and served for dinner. You have to wake up early to “reserve” the sun beds otherwise you can kiss goodbye because they don’t have enough beds for all guests. The service is poor, they have this weird greeting with hand on the chest but yet no please or thank you or anything. It’s absolutely disappointing to pay for all inclusive and get service and food like in a 2* hotel. I have never had so much bad food ever and to top it all up it’s full of flies too. Booked a room with sea view but all was blocked by 2 massive palm trees, so basically looking at some leaves. Definitely not coming back let alone recommending it. Shame the place it self is pretty decent.

We went to this hotel end of June as a family with a 3 year old and my mother in law. I was worried reading some reviews, but we had a good holiday so please do not worry like I did.|The hotel is very large - think Mexico / Caribbean resort size. It is beautifully decorated and maintained. Very clean. The decor is modern very much like a Dubai hotel. The scenery is outstanding. Beautiful sea with La Gomera in the distance and mountains with Tiede the other side. Breathtaking. They chose an excellent space for a hotel. |Our room was large, close to amenities, quiet with a beautiful view to a quiet garden. The balcony got afternoon sunshine.|The pools were all super, my personal favourite was the large infinity pool (don’t forget that salt water tarnishes silver) and my daughter’s favourite was the pirate pool. I personally thought the family pool too deep considering its name but it was always busy so others may not feel the same.|The children’s activities were plentiful and varied for ages 5+. If you use the app you can see all activities and their meeting points. They will also hand you a print out if you are not an app person.|The staff really are amazing. I can honestly say I had no negative experience with any of the staff. Quite the opposite as they seemed to be more than happy to help, nothing was too much to ask. They were very patient with me practicing my Spanish too. A special shout out to Children and Activity coordinator Vanessa and restaurant manager Mohammed. Always smiling, always happy to share a little chat. Genuinely lovely individuals. Vanessa’s floating yoga was so much fun and definitely gave my core a work out! We also really enjoyed the astronomy talk and looking through the telescope.|We were half board and found breakfast and dinner in the buffet filled us for the day. Not the best buffet I’ve ever had at a hotel, but plenty of options for adults. Slightly limited for children. |We are at the Mexican restaurant which was delicious but sadly couldn’t return as they had a fire which shut the restaurant. I would have liked to try the Italian too but we ran out of time! |Drinks are very overpriced, especially by local standards. I do not begrudge paying £8 for a glass of wine in the UK, but for a very small glass of house wine in Spain this seems far too much. Cocktails are clearly pre-made for the all inclusive customers but when you are charging £14 for the same it’s not ok. I would expect fresh, quality ingredients for this price (which is why we usually opt for half board option instead of all inclusive).|We ordered some food by the poolside one day and the servings were enormous, definitely get your money’s worth! |A lovely walk by the seafront into town via turning left at the back of the hotel will take you past two children’s parks as well as a great skate park, outdoor gym, basketball court and volleyball court. If you turn right this will take you to a selection of beaches and tide pools. There is a melia cafe at the main beach with toilets and changing rooms. They do charge for sun loungers even if you are a hotel guest. This bar is more reasonably priced here, as it’s also used by locals.|Lots of bars and restaurants in the town of Alcala which is a lovely, local community. We found everyone to be very welcoming and friendly especially the Beach bar and traditional restaurant Muelle Viejo. If you walk into town out of the front of the hotel, you will reach the high street and harbour much faster than via the coast. |There is a gas station opposite the hotel which has a cute local cantina. The food is delicious and cheap as chips! They also serve a variety of drinks, both alcohol and soft drinks. I recommend asking for a local coffee called barriquito which is beautifully layered and with liquor 43.|We listened to a talk about Circle Melia and received a free Bali bed as a thank you. We used this to chill out in comfort on our last day. Whilst we couldn’t pay to extend the room check out on the last day, the hotel did offer us a shower room which was much appreciated. |A great family hotel but I probably wouldn’t return until my daughter was a bit older. We had a nice time, and the staff really are lovely but not sure the hotel was exactly my cup of tea!

Yelp
ROOM My family and I (4 people in total) stayed at a 2-bedroom suite in the Red Level area. We were so pleasantly surprised by how spacious the rooms are. The living room has a balcony with an ocean view. There's a dining area in the living room as well. The master bedroom has an additional balcony and a bathroom with double sinks. The second bedroom is a little smaller in size however actually comes with a much larger bathroom (with double sinks, double standing showers, and a bath tub). Our experience living in the suite was honestly close to being perfect, with the only exception of a little water leakage situation in the shower. The seal between the shower glass door and the rest of the bathroom wasn't great so despite my best effort, the bathroom floor was always quite wet after a shower. SERVICE One of the best service experiences I've had. We arrived close to 7pm at the resort. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted warmly. Our luggage was taken care of and we were led directly to the Red Level check in area and provided complimentary Cava. The front desk had already prepared most of the paperwork for us and we checked in quickly after. Because our flight arrived later than expected and we were running late to our dinner reservation, the front desk staff took the initiative to update the restaurant without us having to ask her to do so. I thought that was quite attentive of them! Additionally, I was impressed by how welcoming and helpful the staff was. We initially couldn't find one of the restaurants. When I approached a staff member to ask her, she took the time out to walk us all the way to the other end of the resort! When my family visited the Red Level Family Lounge for the first time, we were greeted and given their WhatsApp number, which I used to stay in touch with the Concerige after to book tennis courts and spa services. The Red Level Concierge kindly looked into excursions (eg whale watching at Los Gigantes) on our behalf and even provided restaurant recommendations for Garachico. AMENITIES There were about 3-4 swimming pools on the property. The largest one is right in the center of the property - I believe it's one of the largest infinity pools in Europe. This pool is not heated and has seawater so it was a little too cold for me in December. The other two pools are smaller. We mostly used the Red Level pool which is in a more private area and still large enough in my opinion. The water temperature felt more comfortable there. There are cabanas for rental (250 euros minimal spending that includes food and beverage by the infinity pool or 100-150 euros minimal spending that includes only beverage). Additionally, there is a sports center that has 2 Padel courts, 2 Tennis courts and 1 mini soccer courts. There are a few table tennis tables and stationery bikes for spin classes. When we visited in December, the resort was relatively empty (I know! Surprising given it was a holidays) so it was really easy to book tennis courts. We played tennis almost every single day there. They have rackets for rental as well. The spa services were rather underwhelming. My mom and I each booked a facial at the Clarins Spa and we both thought it was overall a mediocre experience. The esthetician was not particularly skillful with the facial massage, and I actually didn't think they used the best products for my skin type. It caused some stinging and irritation. FOOD As a food enthusiast, I am not usually easily impressed but I have to say I was quite impressed by the food here! There are 7 restaurants on the property and I visited 6 of them - my favorite was the La Terrace (seafood-centric restaurant). The food was delectable. Presentation was beautiful. Pictures below are from La Terrace. And the ambience is just on a whole different level! Think candle lit dinners under a starry sky with rhythmic ocean waves hitting the shore in the background! The other restaurants were also very good - there's one Italian restaurant, a steakhouse, a Mexican restaurant by the pool, an Asian fusion place, and more general options that include a buffet restaurant. OVERALL Have enjoyed every moment on this property. This is the perfect location for a relaxing family vacation! Nice pools, amazing staff, wonderful entertainment/sports options, and incredible food. I have recommended this resort to many friends and will continue to do so!

Yelp
I stayed here for 4 nights at the Red Level section of the resort. It was the perfect location for a relaxing vacation getaway. It's far enough from the touristy sections of Tenerife (Playa de las Américas) but still quite accessible to popular touristy spots such as Los Gigantes. The hotel is huge with numerous restaurants, spa services and its own live entertainment. It's easy to stay-in the resort without even exploring Tenerife. We liked that option, but we did end up dining outside the hotel quite often. The Red Level offered a luxurious experience. We were offered complimentary Cava while waiting to check into our rooms. The views looking out into the Atlantic Ocean were stunning, especially during sunset. Valet parking, bottled water, Clarins toiletries and sunscreen are all included. The Red Level guests also have a daily happy hour where there are complimentary drinks and tapas. This was a definite bonus and the venue was perfect for watching the sunset. The included breakfast buffet was also all-encompassing. There is no private beach, but there is a public black sand beach 50 m away from the property along a scenic walking trail leading to Los Gigantes. There is also a small town close to the hotel (within walking distance) with good alternative dining options (pizza, seafood, sports bar). If I were to return to Tenerife, I would definitely consider staying at the Red Level Gran Melia Resort again.

Yelp
It was a beautiful hotel, but the food was absolutely terrible. Not anywhere near 5 star quality. And it was hugely disappointing to not even be able to get a good cup of coffee.

Yelp
Sprawling hotel complex with multiple facets- seven restaurants, various facilities, including the longest infinity pool in " Europe" - although you're geographically a lot closer to Africa here. Clientele is a mix of "toffs and tattoos "- you'll note some ( adult) visitors are literally so unadventurously xenophobic they can't get beyond the children's buffet at meal times, and there are some ill behaved oikey brats in, for example, the family pool. Staff couldn't be more helpful- great place for those with kids, but if you're seeking to avoid them, there are "grown up only" areas, and it's possible to book into "The Red Level", which gives you reserved spaces in the hotel ; I'm told there's also a " Red Level for Families".

Yelp
WORSE NIGHT OF MY LIFE WITH ROACHES IN MY ROOM The first night i arrived at the Melia Palacio de Isora i stayed in room 3130 my family inmediately realized how dirty the room was. It had dirty hair and dry old contact lenses around the bed, but ..the first incident was a roach in the bathroom door around 3am that i had to kill while i went to use the bathroom. The only reason i didn't scream was because the time in the night and i didnt want to complaint since i know some of the people that work at the hotel. The second night getting back from dinner around 11pm there was a party of roaches in my room, i called front desk and they sent two men two my room with roach spray, they sprayed around the room and i started getting headaches immediately, thats not to be sprayed in a room enclosed. They offered to moved me to a different room passing midnight which i did. I had to pack everything and unpack again to find out when i get ready to close the curtain that the sun shade was missing so the light would come in the morning not to mention it was a worse room than the one i had, at 1:30 am i was the hotel lobby to move rooms again for a second time. I was moved to another room 2153 to find out bloody sheets on my bed. at that point i was so tired at 2am and so done with the staff that i just decided to stay until the morning and not unpack. I lost the money for my excursion next day, because i couldn't sleep at all. woke up with a headache and migraines which i suffer from. Now im stranded here with no migraine medicine, and having to go to local doctor. The hotel staff claimed it was normal for roaches to be in the island and in my room since it was close to the garden. They acted like it was all normal at that time of the night to be changing rooms three times. I should have never stayed here, and i should have gone with my first choice the Ritz Carlton Abama. You can never go wrong with them. If you are planning to come to Tenerife dont stay at this hotel, I was recommended to stay here and worse decision, looks beautiful but not the cleanest hotel around and not the service you would expect from a 5 star hotel and not the best way to handle customers problems. They finally changed me to a different room after been to three rooms in one night. If you want to stay with Melia, i would suggest Jardines del Teide i stayed here my first night and their service will surpass this hotel as far as the way they treated me with everything.

Yelp
This review is for the "Red Level" area of the hotel. It's designed to be more quiet and relaxing. No children are allowed in the area. The suites are more luxurious then the regular rooms in the other parts of the hotel. The room (or Demi Suite as they call it) with partial ocean view (I was able to see it from pretty much everywhere in the room) - 50 sqm of upscale furniture and materials. Nice attention to details and a great private balcony. Spacious bathroom with a shower and a large bathtub (there is the option to upgrade to a private jacuzzi on the balcony as well), a separate bidet and toilet. A standard equipped minibar with reasonable prices, free water and a Nespresso machine. Great bed with an extensive pillow menu to choose from. A aroma menu to have different scents in the room. Satellite TV with a lot of channels (no sound system). A dining area and a couch. The services - from refilling the ice in the room to booking private tours they offer everything one could ask for. Turndown service. Private check in and check out. A butler service. A well equipped business center. Free pressing of 2 pieces of clothes a day. A pool concierge with free drinks and fruit all day long. And of course room service (not overly expensive). All of the trips they offer to book for you have the transportation already included which is very convenient. Wifi is free anywhere in the hotel. The speeds are good (15 down 15 up). The facilities - the "Red Level" area has its own swimming pool (not crowded and big enough). There are several other pools, jacuzzis and the beach (black sand) is just a short walk away. The resort's has the larger swimming pool in Europe, the "Infinity Pool". It's a huge saltwater pool which is located in front of the hotel and has a beautiful view of the ocean and the island of Gomera. There are a ton (8) restaurants in the resort. If you have booked half board or full board you can choose from any of the restaurants (with priority booking). The choice of foods is great. Everything from fresh seafood to Japanese cuisine is offered (my absolute favorite was La Terrace - best atmosphere and fresh seafood). There are two restaurants to choose from for breakfast. The Spa - I got 2 voucher (2x 30€) for the Spa upon arrival. Very nice facilities with a lot of treatments to choose from. Kids are allowed until noon so going there after lunch is highly recommended. The prices are average for the treatments but it's worth the money. The area - the resort is located at the little fisherman's village of Alcala. The village is just 5 minutes by foot from the hotel. It offers nice little restaurants and supermarkets. There is a ocean walk along the shore line so one can walk for hours and enjoy the beautiful scenery. The port is only 40 minutes by foot (great little hike along some nice trails). From pretty much everywhere in the resort there is a beautiful view of the ocean and Gomera. The staff - very attentive and hearty. You feel very welcome from arrival until departure. The butler service makes it a bit more special especially at check in. Having someone who explains everything in and around the room to you is very nice. The prices - it's the services you pay extra for. And it's absolutely worth it. I highly recommend this resort to anyone looking for relaxation and a little luxury. Period.

Yelp
The Res Level service is good. The staff is nice and they are always willing to help you at any time. The rooms and nice and spacious but you can hear everything from the room next door. And I mean everything, literally... The pool is nice but you need to arrivw around 8 am to leave a book on a deck chair If you want to have a place. People just go there around that time, leave a book on the deck chair they like and don't come back until 11 or so. I believe the hotel should not allow this behaviour. A good option is going to the beach that is close by. The deck chairs at that beach and the umbrellas are free for the Red Level guests and usually the beach is less crowded than the pool. Breakfast at the Red Level terraza is nice and you can choose among differenr options. The other restaurants at the hotel are not good at all and are very expensive. A goos option is to have lunch at the bar on the beach near by or to go to Souco, an italian restaurant in front of the sea one minute walking from the hotel. The spa is not in accordance withe the price.

Yelp
Really enjoyed our four nights in this beautiful resort in a small fishing village in Tenerife. First time in Tenerife and first resort holiday we've had , and we weren't disappointed here. Beautiful resort, pools and room, and all really clean and well presented. Staff were all really nice although keen on the hard sell for stuff like the melia loyalty club. We had an afternoon in the spa which was lovely, and priced similar to those in the uk. Lots of places to eat within the resort so there was lots of food variety during our short stay, although all were pretty expensive. We had the B and B option so if u can find a good half or full board deal that might help. Breakfast included in the deal was pretty awesome including spanishy stuff British style cooked stuff , fruit cereals pancakes - essentially all your breakfast dreams come true. The bucket of free fizzy wine was the icing on the cake. I think if we were here any longer the distance from some of the sites) aqua park , zoo etc) might have become an issue but during a short trip we were happy to relax with books, sun, pools and breakfast wine (did I mention that already?). It's pretty expensive but posh hotels tend to be.

Yelp
My review is for the Red Level area of the Hotel. It was such an amazing place and I really loved it! The Red Level area, the Pool House and the Pools are beautiful! The breakfast was super with a sea view. I loved my awesome hotel room and the Service was excellent! Definitly one of my most relaxing short vacations! I'm coming back for sure!
