Grand Banks - Review - Tribeca - New York - The Infatuation

"New York City’s floating restaurant situation is improving, thanks to two new boats serving food and bobbing in the Hudson River, the North River Lobster Co. and the fine vessel you see here, Grand Banks. Here’s one thing we’ve learned this summer - people get really excited about boats. I’m not sure this island has had so much interest around the arrival of a sea craft since the Dutch showed up in 1665 and established the city’s first Le Pain Quotidien. Speaking of settlers, Grand Banks is captained by an explorer in his own right, Mark Firth, who, according to the boat’s website is a “pioneer of the Brooklyn food renaissance.” Mark was one of the founders of the much beloved group of restaurants that include Diner and Marlow and Sons. His conquest of Williamsburg is a significant one, and our lives are all better today because of it. I can’t wait to see what he does with Tribeca. Hopefully he treats the natives humanely. We recently visited Grand Banks to meet our new future ruler and eat the oysters he has brought with him from wherever this boat originated. Our first impression was that Grand Banks isn’t really a restaurant. It’s more of a skiff with booze and raw seafood on it. It’s also much smaller than what we expected to find after all that fanfare, sort of like if the Queen Mary just ended up being a nicely appointed tug boat. I guess we were just expecting something bigger. Either way, Grand Banks is a fun little spot with really good oysters and other small plates, and some good drinks to match. The crew are really nice and the views are beautiful, which is probably why you come to eat things on a boat tied up to a pier, rather than a restaurant on land. However, now that we’ve seen it, I can’t say that we feel the need to come back. There are lots of other places to get oysters in this town, and we get motion sick easy. I guess we just weren’t cut out for life at sea. Food Rundown Oysters The oysters at Grand Banks are really good. They’re all as fresh as you’d expect seafood on a boat to be, and they’ve been expertly shucked. Our only complaint is that we ordered two dozen and they sort of skimped on the mingionette. That also might have had to do with the rough waters that night. Either way, they’re on of about five things on this menu, so you should be eating them. Fried Zucchini Nice, lightly fried veggies. One of the only hot items on the menu, if you’re into that sort of thing. Ceviche We really liked the ceviche at Grand Banks, and it sure is pretty. Order it. Baked Oysters These oysters are baked with shallot marmalade, bacon, lemon, and parsley, and they taste really good. We wished they were a little bit hotter, but then no we didn’t because it’s probably better if this boat doesn’t have fire on it." - Chris Stang

glad we tried this place because they are super dog friendly, everyone was so welcoming. it’s super busy so you definitely need to reserve. the view is beautiful and the boat is nice, though it does rock and make you queasy. the drinks were delicious but took 45 mins to arrive, oysters came first and quickly. food took forever to order and even longer to arrive and it was mid tier at best. good lobster roll and good scallops but so overpriced. service was nonexistent. server took forever though she was really nice. had to flag someone else down to try and get our server and they said no words just walked away. price exorbitant given the quality you receive.

🌟 Grand Banks Review — Best Waterfront Dining with a Statue of Liberty View If you're looking for a truly unforgettable NYC experience, Grand Banks on the Hudson delivers it all — amazing seafood, unbeatable sunset vibes, and a front-row view of the Statue of Liberty. Located on a historic wooden schooner docked at Pier 25, this floating oyster bar gives you that rare mix of casual elegance and postcard-perfect scenery. Whether you're sipping a cold cocktail or enjoying their fresh oysters, you’ll literally be dining on the water with Lady Liberty glowing in the distance. The atmosphere is chill but classy, perfect for date nights, special occasions, or just treating yourself. The staff is super friendly, the drinks are strong, and the seafood is fresh and well-seasoned. Try the lobster roll — it’s a favorite for a reason.

Google
Unique restaurant with great views of the city and Jersey. Good food and ambience! Had a resy for 10:30 on a Saturday but to be honest it probably wasn’t needed as many seats were open. The brunch food was great! For me the avocado toast was standout although it was quite spicy (I thought it was perfect but it’s hot for others). French toast was also good. The meatballs were certainly unique for brunch. I thought they were pretty good though. One thing to note is that the boat does rock a bit so maybe those prone to sea sickness may want to be aware. Overall, I’d definitely come back as I thought the food was great and cool setting

Google
This place is fantastic! I have been here a few times for lunch with my coworkers and it is always a really good experience. The boat dos have days that it sways a lot, so if you are a person that’s sensitive to motion sickness, then this is not the place for you. This is a seasonal restaurant, so they open in April and close towards end of October, depending on the weather. We ordered the lobster roll, scallops, spritz, and the chocolate dessert. All were really tasty! And don’t forget the view!

Google
Grand Banks is truly one of the most unique dining spots in NYC! Floating on the Hudson with unbeatable waterfront views, it’s the perfect place for a summer evening. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and every dish we tried had that perfect balance of flavor and elegance — simple, but done so right. Cocktails were top-tier and paired beautifully with the whole coastal vibe. The ambiance is laid-back yet refined, and the staff was welcoming and attentive, I'd only pay attention when reserving bc it can get really hot and uncomfortable to seat in the sun at noon so make sure you get a table with shadow or at the bar if you want to enjoy lunch not sweaty!! Whether you’re visiting the city or a local looking for something special, Grand Banks is a must. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
This place is absolutely awesome! The food and drinks made my day everything was so delicious that I couldn’t get enough. The view was stunning, and the whole experience felt nostalgic, reminding me of the floating cottages in the Philippines. The atmosphere is calm and relaxing, perfect for anyone who enjoys dining by the sea. The staff were polite, easy to talk to, and made me feel really comfortable throughout my visit. However, I wouldn’t recommend it for people who are sensitive to motion sickness, since the restaurant is on a boat and can sway a bit. If you love great food, refreshing drinks, and a beautiful waterfront view, I highly recommend making a reservation here. You won’t regret it!

Google
Love this spot and try to come at least once in the summer. You definitely need a reservation. The boat is a little shaky, so check in with your date in case they get sea sick! Overall the vibe is great and if you sit at the oyster bar you get to see the chef opening the oysters. We tried the Southampton oysters, the scallops and the lobster roll and love it! Recommend checking out this place if you live in the area or visiting from out of town, it’s worth the trip.

Google
Came here 8/2 around 5pm. Service was really slow. Food was pretty subpar for the prices. $6 for a flat fountain Diet Coke. $39 for a lobster roll that should’ve been $19. Crudo was flavorless, but looked beautiful. The cherry on top was looking at the receipt after paying and noticing I was charged $3 for something called “charity water” that the waiter began pouring at the start of service without our consent, I said tap please and then couldn’t hear him over the music. But they poured water that they charged us for. Never had that happen in the city. I’m disappointed because this place was on my bucket list. You hope the food and drinks would offer something special, but it was all really disappointing. Way too overpriced for what it was.

Yelp
Ambiance is the star here. The rocking on the boat is a nice addition to the vibe over a drink and convo. I only had a lobster roll and between my guest and I, we had 5 drinks. Our bill? $240. Worth the tab? For me, no, but I would enjoy a drink here again. They do have bathrooms downstairs.

Yelp
I had seen Grand Banks on both TikTok and Instagram so it had made my list of places to visit, but didn't seem to fit into the plan when we laid it all out in the day. To my surprise, we were walking along, saw it and thought it would be great for a quick cocktail and maybe some oysters! We walked up without a reservation and they told us it would be a wait for a table or they could seat us at the oyster bar immediately (that was a win for us as we wanted to sit there anyways). We were seated right away but then ended up waiting forever to have a server bring water / take our drink order. We actually had to go ask if a server would be coming to which they said they'd send our server over shortly (it was a long time until she came). We ordered two cocktails from the menu along with a dozen oysters when the server did come but again, we had to wait forever (we watched people come in after us, order after us and get their drinks/ food before us). When everything came out, it all looked great! The drinks themselves were not very good (especially for the price) but the oysters and their presentation were phenomenal. We'd come back to enjoy more oysters and the fantastic views but otherwise wouldn't likely go back.

Yelp
Wow! There's no place in NY on the Hudson like Grand Banks. The view is amazing. We have been driving 2 hrs each way to come here for years. The drinks are strong and flavorful. The food even better. To us this place is a mini vacation in itself to escape the troubles of the world. Our service is always top notch with Hallie tending to our food and drink needs. She even had amazing suggestions on modifying some drinks to suit the alcohol I like. Grand Banks is lucky to have her and so are we to have met her. We literally booked our next adventure while on the boat and requested Hallie as our server. Her Vibe in unmatched! Views of the Trade Center and Statue of Liberty are just the cherry on top of this one of a kind venue. Come see for yourself what all the buzz is about!

Yelp
If you're looking for a beginning of the summer or end of the summer vibes or a nice cute dinner with a sunset and view, check this place out. The food was okay. We ordered fries, picked veggies, scallops, champagne oysters and a lobster roll. The service was also very quick.
google avatar

Yelp
One of the most perfect outdoor dining locations with stunning NYC backdrop. If you catch great weather, this place offers a limited yet delicious menu and cocktails for a late afternoon or early evening meal. The staff is super friendly. Perfect Al fresco dining spots

Yelp
The view at sunset is amazing! Definitely know that that's what you're paying for. The food was overall pretty good. The lobster rolls were AMAZING, like freshest I've ever had, but they were super small. The oysters and caviar hashbrowns were okay, nothing to write home about. Drinks were great! I got a spicy marg and another cocktail pictured. Both were very good. My boyfriend said the beers were good too. Overall, giving this place a 4 stars because of the price and service. I was expecting the service to be way better due to how expensive it was. However, our server barely checked on us and didn't even note it was my birthday even though it was on the reservation. We might come back for drinks and oysters some time still though! Again, the view was perfect.

Yelp
Amazing place for a bite to eat or just a drink at one of their two big bars. Views were spectacular, food was delicious and service was great. Super dog friendly too!
google avatar

Isabel J.

Yelp
I been wanting to check this place out for years and finally made my way here. We came without having reservations but they were able to sit us at the cocktail bar. Let's start with this place its just beautiful. Dining on a boat gives you a feel of being away. The boat was a bit rocky so take that in consideration in case motion sickness affects you. I started with I'm the Captain Now drink which was very tasty, not super strong but it went with the vacation vibes. For food I tried the lobster roll and order of fries. The lobster roll was delicious and had plenty of lobster which I enjoyed. The fries were great as well but I never met a fry I didn't like. A great place to come enjoy the outdoors.

Yelp
Grand Banks is always a vibe with a beautiful setting, perfect for a summer evening on the water. The oysters were plump and juicy, and the lobster roll was generously filled and full of flavor. We also ordered the scallops, burrata, and crudo, though the crudo never made it to the table so we ended up canceling it. The scallops were well-cooked but a bit too spicy for my taste. The burrata was fresh and nicely balanced. For dessert, we tried the key lime mousse, which was a bit of a letdown. I expected more of a traditional pie, but it turned out to be tangy cream in a glass with blueberry compote and graham cracker crumbs. Still, the setting and overall experience were lovely. Worth it for the views and cocktails, and I'd come back to try a few more dishes

Yelp
Interesting dining experience for anyone visiting NYC. We came by for lunch and sunshine, breeze, and water make it a great experience. Sometimes the boat did rock a little too much but all part of the experience. We shared oysters, lobster sandwiches, burrata salads, and fries.

Hi T.

Yelp
It's a yacht turned bar & restaurant docked on pier 25 on the west side. The whole atmosphere of this spot makes it a great place to reenergize. I have to say that dining on a yacht with prime waterfront view while soaking in sun rays with simple and fresh made to order meals and awesome libations is money well spent in New York City with family and friends.
google avatar

Cathy G.

Yelp
You come here for the vibes and the views and that's their main goal. Came by during a work week during the day so it wasn't insanely crowded. I came with a bit of an appetite and ordered some scallops but the meals here are the expected small and expensive type. Got two drinks here as well that were good. This isn't really a typical sit down eatery. I'd say it's more of a refined bar where you go pre or post show/dinner etc

Yelp
Wow! I was amazed by the views of this place! It was right on the water, views of lady liberty, jersey city and of course the nyc skyline. It was so quiet and so nice to just relax and sip champagne on the water. It was a bit on the pricey side, especially for the quality of the food. I thought it was good but everything on the menu was something you could get anywhere. The service was good, although we had to flag down someone for a glass of champagne and the check at the end. Other than that it was a fantastic time. I definitely recommend this place and will probably be coming back again. Pros: views!!! Ambiance for sure, food was yummy, staff was nice. Cons: had to wave over a waiter twice, there was nothing on the menu that they were known for.

Yelp
Very unique restaurant on a boat in the water. You can feel the boat moving so keep that in mind if you get seasick. The food was all fresh and good but they have decreased the portion sizes of some dishes. I.e scallops only have 4 instead of the 5-6 from last year. Definitely more of a lighter portion. You're definitely paying extra for the view and unique atmosphere. Izzy is a super nice hostess and goes above and beyond for you! Manager was nice too when we had a mix up with our food and drinks.
google avatar

Deanna R.

Yelp
First time here and I absolutely loved it. This place is so cool and such a unique experience. Heads up, if you get seasick, it might not be for you since the boat definitely rocks a bit. The atmosphere and service were both great. I sat at the bar and had an Aperol Spritz, which you can tell they make hundreds of a day, it was perfect. Didn't try the food this time but will definitely be back. Really such a fun and creative concept.

Yelp
Can't beat dining on a sailboat! Grand Banks has great ambiance, with beautiful views of the city and excellent seafood. My husband and I made a reservation for Saturday afternoon about a week in advance. I was glad we had reservations because it was very busy and it didn't seem like they were taking walk-ins. We shared the lobster roll, which was packed with so much fresh lobster. For sides, we ordered the fries which were thin and crispy (a perfect portion to share) and the shrimp cocktail. The Grand Banks oysters stole the show, however. They were so fresh and we loved the assortment of East Coast, West Coast, and New York oysters. For drinks, I loved the Beach Please mocktail (tasted similar to a Mai Tai). Service was pretty quick, especially considering how busy it was. Highly recommend checking out Grand Banks for beautiful on-the-water dining!
google avatar

Felicia H.

Yelp
What an experience! If you don't mind the anchored boat rocking then you'll enjoy this. You cannot beat the NYC skyline including Lady Liberty. The surrounding piers are absolutely gorgeous with joggers, walkers, children's park, volleyball, miniature golf. Nice atmosphere. Wait 'til the sun goes down, it's breathtaking. As for the food! I ordered scallops that came with a corn succotash - it was extremely fresh & tasty. In the end, since it was my birthday, the waiter brought a slice of chocolate cake topped with vanilla ice cream - there were random raisins for some reason but that cake, was incredible! And it's not even on the menu! Anyway, I highly recommend this spot - food was delicious & ambience is amazing.

Yelp
Decided to try our luck with getting a table on a recent Friday night around 6:30 and they let us know we could have a seat for an hour before a 16-top resy. Got sat at the Captains Table which was the best table on the boat, in my opinion! Worked out beautifully in our favor (see photo of the gorgeous sunset attached). Ordered the Grand Platter w/ 2 dozen oysters + Caviar Service + Fries to share + XL Shrimp Cocktail for me + Paloma + Dirty Martini Food was delicious, although I prefer blinis with caviar as opposed to toast points. Paloma was okay but my bf loved his dirty martini. Fries, shrimp, and all accompanying sauces were addictive! Oysters could have been more thoughtfully selected, none really stood out. I love the menu, though! Lots of options for seafood lovers + a few vegan & vegetarian dishes. Service was okay as we had to wait a while on waters, getting 1st cocktail, and ordering which made us have to rush a bit at the end since we had the time limit but our waitress was so friendly and accommodating otherwise! Ambience and vibe is undefeated, especially with the view of the bar and buildings all around us. The boat could rock a decent bit (for those who may need dramamine)! Would definitely come back!

Yelp
Being on a boat under a striped yellow awning with the sun shining, an Aperol Spritz in my left hand and some french fries in my right hand while the Freedom Tower and Lady Liberty watch in the background was a spiritual experience. I'M ON A BOAT! EVERYBODY LOOK AT ME CUZ I'M SAILING ON A BOAT! I was in the linen obviously, as if a vibe ever called for 3 buttons of a linen shirt buttoned with the sleeves rolled up, this was it. When we walked on and initially sat down, the boat was ROCKIN. I was lowkey starting to get a little seasick, so if you're sensitive to that make sure you keep your head on a swivel. I was fighting for my life for a sec, but halfway through my first spritz I didn't feel it anymore. 90% of the game is mental... Cocktails and fries have become a simple pleasure of mine, and one of the main food groups in my personal food pyramid. Both were fantastic here, they know how to make a drink. After having such a blissful experience, I felt something in my back. I asked the waitress to check it and she pulled out this huge knife that was engraved with the phrase "We charge for tap water here." They call it "charity water" which is just a blatant slap in the face. It's like she took the knife out my back and cut my throat with it smh. Nasty work. Ig @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews

Yelp
The ambiance is as euro summer you can get in NYC. The prices are on the higher side - to be expected. But you can't beat the atmosphere and quick "getaway" from the city.
google avatar

Melissa L.

Yelp
The view is beautiful however I had a reservation for 6:30pm some how still manage to wait a hour to be seated. I definitely get wait times but however I can't help but to notice if you miss your reservation you'll be charged a fee. Menu on the pricey side but the lobster roll was amazing. This occasion my sister and I decided to do a bottle of white wine makes more sense if you're going to be having more the 1 glass however the bottle was already opened when served to us I guess in their own bottle... definitely through me off as I expected it to be closed but I guess since we are in a boat that can cause complications. I would definitely go back to see how my experience is again who wouldn't love oysters wine and view. Maybe I'll go at a earlier
google avatar

Yelp
So great! On a boat awesome drinks! Fabulous oysters. The crew was really cool. Fun tiki drinks, this place definitely was lively!

Yelp
I love this place. When I'm in New York, in session (April -October). In visit this place multiple times. I think it's great especially on a hot summer day to be on the water. Drinks are great. I just enjoy hanging out drinking on a boat. It's tied to the dock but floats on the waterfront, so you will rock up and down a little bit. John the manager is great. Visit it once and you'll be back. Maybe my favorite thing in SOHO. The views from it are incredible.

Monica E.

Yelp
We had such a great evening at Grand Banks. The setting was beautiful--we were there around 7PM, just before sunset, so it was starting to cool down and we could really feel the breeze off the river. Such a perfect summer NYC moment. Big thanks to Isabel at the host stand, who was incredibly kind and helpful. We arrived early for our reservation, and although they could have seated us right away, she didn't make us feel rushed at all when we said we were happy to wait for a shaded table. She really made sure we had a comfortable spot with our daughter. We ordered oysters, the lobster roll, and a rich, delicious ragu pasta (can't remember the exact menu name but it was so good). Drinks were spot-on too. Overall just a relaxing, memorable night.
google avatar

Melissa B.

Yelp
My girlfriends and I went to NYC for a few days. This was by far THE WORST place we dined. The food and drinks were terrible. The view, however, was fantastic! I ordered the scallop dinner. Terrible. They were having a water issue when we went and it took forever to get our drinks. I understand things happen. I ordered a coke, and it tasted weird. I sent it back. She didn't take it off. If you are thinking about this place, maybe just go for a drink or two for the sunset.
google avatar

Valerie L.

Yelp
Definitely a great place for vibes and views, as others have noted. My husband's lobster roll was small but he said the quality was perfect. My oysters were good but the avocado toast wasn't--they sprinkled chili powder all over it and that's all I could taste. We got there at 10:30 with a reservation. The bar was completely empty but were given seats right in front of the bartender's work station (where the work mats cut into our eating space) even though the whole bar was free? He was nice at least and kept topping off our iced teas. So pretty good overall but I'm not sure I'd go back.
google avatar

Cesar Y.

Yelp
Cute setting although on a rougher waters day you could get seasick. Food was fine but not amazing, overpriced for what it is. Ambience is mainly about the setting and the place, unique for NY and worth to check out. Service was average but not bad.
google avatar

Courtney P.

Yelp
This is a very fun spot to do some shareable with a small group. Not a place for you if you get motion sickness as it was quite wavy. We ordered oysters, the tomato watermelon salad, scallops, fries and shrimp cocktail. All dishes were so great and food comes out quick! I give this place 4 stars becuase the seating is very flimsy and on a wavy day it felt like the chairs could collapse. Also, if it starts to rain the restaurant closes immediately.
google avatar

Anthony D.

Yelp
We showed to for our reservation at the oyster bar. They said it was actually better that we did come a bit early. We sat in the sun and waited patiently for service. 45 minutes went by. A waitress finally came over and said the other waitress had left. Said she would take our order. Another 22 minutes go by - we interrupt the manager. He comes back 10 minutes later with comped drinks. No acknowledgement of what is happening but still nice to comp. Eventually they tell us a server just left without telling anyone. I would laugh say the entire experience was a wash. A waste of a few hours in the hot sun. Except for Jebreya at the oyster bar. Certainly has the companies best interest in mind. But my date was ruined.
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
Oysters on a boat with skyline views? Sign me up. We went for a late lunch on a sunny day and really enjoyed the experience. The oysters were fresh and we also enjoyed the scallops entree. They have beer, wine and also make cocktails. Definitely add this to the list. I think they are open April- early November so make sure they are open.

Yelp
The novelty of Grand Banks is inviting. Dining on a boat along the Hudson sounds cool right? They offer blankets. Our server was Jessie. She was pleasant and friendly. The food, not so much. Did you know they charge for water per person? Let's start from the beginning. Bach party for 7: two dozen oysters Grand Banks $95 delicious. Then it went downhill. They don't have bread, warm drinks, or fresh cracked pepper. They have ambient music, cold polpetti meatballs and unclean glassware. Granted my ceasar salad with shrimp $36 was good, ton of parmy cheese and a speck of heart of palm. The lobster rolls were a good serving. The only compliment I heard was the side salad was good. We weren't offered dessert or anything special to celebrate a special occasion. Further, we took a couple group photos. Granted, us tourist could have been annoying but the staff did not hide their displeasure or eye rolls when we asked if they could take our group photo. I won't be back here. I won't ever eat here again and I wouldn't recommend it. But thank you for your service Jessie. Lunch for 7 = $514 plus 15% tip because this whole experience could have been better.

Yelp
It was 80 degrees in NYC and my coworker and I ventured down to the pier to have some drinks on our lunch. Let me tell you something, this boat ROCKS. If you have seasickness, I would re-think coming. Outside of that, you can't beat the views from the boat. We sat at the bar, but they have tables along the sides as well. I ordered the Permanent Vacation, which consisted of "Gunpowder Proof" Jamaican Rum, Demerara Rum, blue Curacao, coconut, pineapple and cherry. While visually appealing, it wasn't the strongest drink, which you would expect from having 2 different rums. It was enjoyable though, and I liked the size of the glass it came in.

Yelp
You def go for the great setting downtown, but the oysters are good also!!! Service was very attentive.

Yelp
Blue sky sunshine smiles Jumbo jumping shrimp on my Ceasar salad lunch Here's a happy haiku because this place deserves more than a 5 star review. The food is fresh and delicious! The staff was super energetic and kind. The music was bump'n the weather was beyond perfect. The boat was a'rock'n (but our sensitive tummy insides weren't knocking...) My friend and I split a salad and had a light lunch which was the perfect amount of food to share for a healthy snack. The food came out quick and multiple staff members checked on our dining experience. This was such a unique NYC meal, especially because we accidentally stumbled upon it!

Yelp
These drinks are overpriced and garbage. The food is mediocre at best. And the staff....oh the staff is the worst of all man. These people could be replaced by the flying monkeys from wizard of oz and it would be an improvement. The recent time i tried to go here they cancelled my reservation 20 minutes beforehand. I tried cancelling earlier but they refused and threatened to charge me $25 per person. Save the trouble and get mcdonalds
google avatar

Gregory B.

Yelp
Wow. The setting is so unique, relaxing on a boat. Great spot on nice day. The bartenders are friendly and know their stuff, drinks were mixed to perfection. The andouille grits were phenomenal. Huge serving of cheesy grits, topped with well seasoned and greasy (in a good way) sausage. The egg, also cooked to perfection. This is a great meal for brunch!

Yelp
A nice experience on a boat in lower Manhattan with average food & drinks. We experienced some fairly below par service at the front bar (not a lot of attention paid to getting drinks or food to customers at the 3/4 full bar). You're coming here because you want the experience of eating on a docked boat, while looking at the sights of Lower Manhattan, and you know that the food and drinks are priced to pay for that experience. Nothing is going to be amazing in your experience, but you won't be let down either. The lobster rolls and lobster salad appear to be served from the same bowl of pre-dressed lobster meat. The bun on the lobster roll comes out cold, and the lobster is encased in cucumber slices, both of which reduce the experience of what a lobster roll should be, but the essence is there. There is a decent selection of wines by the glass, served from a bar tap. The drinks are well made, and the views are good. Plenty of space to enjoy the evening, although the seating is a bit uncomfortable.

Yelp
08/18/2024 We had our late lunch at Grand Banks, made reservations through Resy. There's not a lof of people when we arrive so we could've walked in as well. We ordered Lobster Roll w/ side of Fries, Pink Moon Oysters, and Caviar Hashbrown. Everything was good, I made sure I read some reviews and these were all recommended. Note: The boat sways with the wave lol. I get nauseous easily but with the wind that is blowing I was able to tolerate the movement.

Yelp
We were so excited to visit Grand Banks, and at first, it lived up to the hype. We sat at the bar, had a great time, and our waitress was amazing, super friendly, gave great recommendations, and really made the experience special. The food was great too. But things took a shocking turn. A blonde man with longer hair in a blue button-down came upstairs and started yelling at the bartenders in front of everyone about dirty dishes (he brought a chef with him from downstairs as well to yell at them). It was extremely aggressive and COMPLETELY unprofessional. One of the female staff members calmly told him not to speak to her that way and she was absolutely right to do so. Moments later, another grey-bearded older man (out of shape) came over and forcefully sent her home. She left with her bag, clearly fired on the spot. Watching several older white men berate a young Black woman and then punish her for standing up for herself was deeply upsetting. The men created the scene, but she paid the price. It ruined what had been a great day. The service and food were fantastic, but no one should be treated like that at work especially not in front of customers. The ENTIRE bar was talking about it. Management's behavior was unacceptable, and it left a lasting negative impression. (I have photos of the men if my descriptions were not enough).

Yelp
The ambiance and view were nice. However, the food wasn't worth the price. The drinks were okay. We also had a reservation which was not honored, and we had to wait in line for 30 minutes before we could be seated (even though there is a $25 fee per person for canceling which is incredibly rude if you aren't going to honor the reservation). The service is hit or miss. We had one server who was good, but then we were switched to someone else who wasn't. I will say I liked the lobster roll. Overall, I left feeling upset for spending the amount I did and wished I went somewhere else. For reference, we were charged $230 for three drinks (one non-alcoholic), six oysters, French fries, scallops, and a lobster roll.

Yelp
Grand Banks is just such a special place and provides an amazing dining experience. My husband and I have been big fans for a couple years now and this year is again, so amazing! Food is always spot on and fresh, ambiance is perfection and service is always exceptional. I would highly recommend for special date night or day date! Also perfect for a girls outing too.

Yelp
The ambiance is great, especially when bringing someone who is visiting NY. Be warned however, that the boat rocks since it's docked in the water but waves still move it around. So if anyone in your party easily gets motion sickness, I would not recommend. Making a reservation was easy online and we were seated right away at our scheduled time. The food was delicious, and the place is known for its oyster bar so we had to try it. It's definitely on the pricier side, as a dozen oysters can easily cost $50+, but it's an experience worth trying. The Steelhead entree was delicious. Perfectly cooked and naturally juicy, which is hard to come by with some seafood restaurants. The fingerlings were also a great combination with the fish that melted in my mouth. The lobster salad was also great, with lots of lobster lumps included in the salad. They did not skimp out on the seafood!

Yelp
It's unique and the idea is great. But then reality hits. Would like to have drinks on the top deck but would pass on a meal. First, if you eat on the ship, be aware that it rocks alitlte and moves with the waves. Sometimes this can make you queasy. It's also Alittle cramped below deck since it's an old ship. Second, there are many rats running around at night if you eat on the pier (off the ship). When we ate, we kept our feet up in case any little furry friends joined us. Lastly, it's expensive. Besides being the usual up charge for shellfish, you are paying for the ambience. But if you're not dining on the top deck, I would find other options for dinner.

Yelp
We brought friends here for the first time and had a nice time! Obviously the vibes and ambiance are super fun! Brunch was really yummy. Wouldnt recommend if you get seasick because the boat can definitely be a little rocky.

Yelp
Great views & good vibes at Grand Banks! Came around sunset on a Saturday and it was a good meal. My only con is that the boat was pretty rocky and the server didn't check on us too often. Overall, would go back with a group for drinks & atmosphere over food.

Yelp
I had such a wonderful time at Grand Banks. It's the most beautiful yacht overlooking the Hudson River. I invited a friend who just recently moved here to lunch. I told her I was in town and that I knew she had been busy unpacking instead of taking a break to see her new city. I can tell you she was wowed from a distance as we were walking up to the yacht. It is an eye-catcher with its topsails, wooden finishes, and yellow canopy. We sat near the water, taking in the magnificent views that stretched for miles and ordering drinks for starters. We both ordered the Lobster Roll. Side note: the roll had the biggest chunks of lobster. I actually started on the outside eating the bun, working my way to the inside because the bun was so good. I ordered dessert first, some berries with cream, which was so delicious. My friend was eating all of my desserts, so she went ahead and ordered a dessert, and I started eating most of hers. So, we had shared desserts between us. We stayed longer than we should have, but with the food, the views, and the staff's hospitality, we just sat there talking and taking it all in. It was honestly the best lunch I have had in a long time.

Yelp
This is it! The place you've been looking for a unique dining experience! The downfall of this place is also the best part of Grand Banks - it's literally a boat, your outside and battling the elements. So that means, on this windy day...we were a little chilly. But they offered us super cute blankets to help keep us warm. That blue drink? LITERALLY VACATION IN A GLASS. And STRONG! Get one. You'll thank me later. Oysters. Delicious. Our waiter was knowledgeable about which were briny, meaty, all the details. Which is why we got the huge platter because he made us want all of them! And they were all delicious. But whatever green stuff was in the small shaker. Skip it, wasn't a fan. We were asked many times if we wanted French fries, we didn't, but we left wondering if we missed out on the best fries ever because they asked so many times if we wanted them. Price was as expected, but paired with the great views...we felt they weren't too terrible. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great experience!

Yelp
Grand Banks is our favorite oyster bar in New York City. There's nothing quite as magical as enjoying great food, amazing wine and taking in the incredible ambiance of this beautiful boat while admiring the city skyline. This restaurant group always produces exceptional dining spots with top notch service, and we're a huge fan of their sister restaurant in New Orleans called Seaworthy. Day or night, Grand Banks is the perfect spot to get your oyster fix while basking in lovely views of the city and getting out on the water!
