Grand Cafe Review - Downtown LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Grand Cafe serves as the ground floor restaurant of the Omni Hotel, so needless to say the vibes run fairly corporate. However, if you’re in town for business, it's a fine place for a quick meal (or networking session). Or a team-building bottomless brunch buffet on weekends." - Brant Cox

Just left brunch here and it was amazing! The food was incredible. Live music and the waiters were so great. We were helped by Jose and a woman, I forgot to grab her name, but they both were so sweet and made our entire experience there. We will definitely be back.

Lovely place for a Sunday brunch. Live jazz, a choice of buffet or menu items available. One must try the avocado toast, absolutely amazing dish.

Yelp
A Mother's Day Delight at the Grand Cafe Our Mother's Day rendezvous at the Grand Cafe proved to be a delightful affair, rich in warmth and culinary delights. Augustine's assistance in securing our reservation for 12 set a seamless tone for the occasion, though a minor hiccup with outdoor seating was swiftly resolved with Eddy's attentive service. Opting for the Mother's Day special, priced at $85 per adult and $45 per child, treated us to a feast of seafood and prime rib, each dish a testament to culinary finesse. The ambiance, enhanced by live music, added a charming backdrop to our outdoor dining experience, albeit with intermittent serenades due to our seating. Eddy's attentive care ensured our comfort and satisfaction throughout, particularly appreciated by the mothers among us. Despite minor nuances, our time at the Grand Cafe was a testament to impeccable service, inviting ambiance, and culinary excellence--a celebration worthy of the mothers in our lives.

Yelp
My experience at Grand Cafe was a mixed bag, but overall quite enjoyable. The food was undeniably delicious, showcasing flavors that truly impressed. However, the limited food options for the price point of $85 per person left me wanting more variety. Despite a hiccup with outdoor seating and a delay in setting up umbrellas, Eddy, our server, went above and beyond to ensure our experience was pleasant. His attentive service and friendly demeanor elevated our dining experience. We chose Grand Cafe for a Mother's Day celebration with a group of 12, and while I wished for more diverse menu choices, Eddy's excellent service made up for it.

Yelp
Thee Brunch Spot to enjoy every Sunday. Many delicious selections that you can imagine are available for one's appetite. Fresh crab legs, large succulent shrimp, perfect prime rib, etc. Mimosas. Service is impeccable! Enter, be seated, enjoy the sites, sounds. Let yourself be catered to. Sip, sip, sip. Relax. Enjoy your food. All amidst some nice smooth live jazz.

Yelp
I am soooooo happy they brought AYCE brunch back!!! And they have added live Jazz. Yes, thank you!!! Wished it was inside where the seating area is vs at the front desk though. Everyone was friendly and attentive. Food was tasty and they kept everything stocked. Absolutely loved the Cajun seafood broil with the crab, sausage, corn on the cob, shrimp & crawfish. Another fav station was the Habachi noodles. Yum! Be sure to ask for the waffles from your waiter as they make those in the back. Brunch was $68pp but does not include mimosas. They even had an Easter bunny giving out eggs with candy as we went for Easter. Too cute! Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Half of our family was out of town for Christmas Eve so the rest of us decided to find a place that served brunch but was still open. So we found this place. The brunch isn't the biggest but the selection was still pretty nice and extensive. The great thing about this brunch is that there are tons of seafood options and all the food is presented really well. Parking lots are generally nearby an available but also, the Omni Hotel has valet parking and the Grand Cafe will validate your valet ticket. The buffet brunch is pretty much only Sundays and they have a Jazz band that plays for you during the brunch. I'd come back for sure.

Yelp
Ate lunch here during the weekday with co-workers. Customer service is top notch. During the weekday they have a pre-fixed menu. It's not a large menu but I'm sure everyone in your group will find something they like. I believe they have a brunch buffet on weekends.
google avatar

Michelle Z.

Yelp
This is a great place for weekday lunch if you work nearby and want something a little fancier than your usual Mendos sandwich. It's a bit hard to navigate since lots of doors are locked but definitely keep pulling doors until you find an open one. Prices are about 20-30 per plate/main dish but is filling, unlike some other fancy restaurants nearby that charge 30 dollars for 4 pieces of meat. I usually get the burger with a side salad, and the salad plus half a burger is enough to fill me up. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients used to make the burger. I ordered the short ribs, which are $28. It has a decent amount of food and tastes pretty good. The roasted veggies are perfectly seasoned and the mashed potatoes is great.

Yelp
CRAB LEGS ALL DAY!!! Yay! I was so impressed with their Sunday brunch buffet located inside the Omni Hotel. Not only was the food good but their service was 5 star and they had live jazz musicians playing and the man sounded better than Tony Bennett! Crab Legs: 5/5 They served them hot and cold and they were delicious! Not overly salted like the other cheap buffets. Shrimp cocktail: 5/5 big fat shrimps and their cocktail sauce was spicy just how I like. Waffles: 5/5 made to order so it's hot and crispy and the batter is yummy! Get there before the rush because there's only one waffle maker that does 4 at a time and can be if a wait. Omelette station: 5/5 Biscuits & gravy: 5/5 the biscuits was soft inside and the country gravy was delicious like finger licking good Prime rib, cooked salmon station: 5/5 I got the salmon for my baby and she loved it. We didn't get to try prime rib. The potatoes they had there was very undercooked. They have yogurt, bread, pastries, French toast, scrambled eggs, bacon, pork's/chicken sausage etc and they were all tasty. I'm telling ya the food was solid The brunch comes with 3 mimosas which was great but beware it's cheap champagne. The kind that gives you a quick buzz and mean headache later lol We loved the Omni hotel location. After we are we walked around the plaza and the Museum of Contemporary Art store. Free valet parking with validation from the restaurant!

Yelp
Their website is WRONG! It states that they have buffet brunch in Saturdays and Sundays! They only have it on Sundays! My dad's 85th birthday is today and I made reservations for the Saturday Buffet Brunch. We get there and they only have buffet brunch on Sundays. This is such a disappointment. Their menu is very limited and this made for a bad celebration.

Yelp
Jose & Amytes were absolutely amazing. Came here to celebrate my birthday and honestly it was the best experience, as always. Not only is the food amazing, but we continuously come back because of Jose & Amytes. We celebrate every special occasion here because they make you feel so special every time. We love it here so much! P.S. the Jazz Band is absolutely amazing!

Yelp
Came here with family for their New Years Eve brunch, and it was about $75 per person. In terms of value, this place is honestly not bad. The brunch includes mimosas at no additional cost which is an added plus. Other beverages such as sodas and coffee are included in the price as well I liked that they had crab legs, lobster and shrimp cocktail-the lobster tails are already sliced open and the meat is easy to access. They had seafood boil, a Mongolian bbq station, fried chicken with biscuits and gravy, Peking duck (though the table consensus was that this wasn't very authentic or great Peking duck) and prime rib. There was smoked salmon as well. In terms of offerings for brunch, they brought value which I appreciate, especially if you're going to be spending that kind of money on a meal. They also seemed to have something for most people. I wasn't the hugest fan of the desserts offered, but they weren't bad either. Minor complaints are that the bathroom isn't directly in the restaurant, and even though they are multi stall bathrooms, some girl locked everyone out of the bathroom when we went. Also, it took a while for the hostess at the bar to show up when our party arrived to seat us even though we arrived on time. We had no idea where the hostess was. Other than that, the food was pretty solid, there was a live band which was lovely, and the overall ambiance was pretty nice. I would come back Parking is what you would expect from DTLA. Luckily, we came on a Sunday and were lucky enough to score street parking for free I will say that the dessert wasn't the best

Yelp
Best Sunday Brunch! Miss the days before COVID when it was all weekend, but nice to have AYCE crab legs back in DTLA! Excellent quality.

Yelp
Food was a little bland but the drinks were nice. May go back to try the brunch but not a big fan

Yelp
Amazing Huevos Rancheros! Carnitas were perfect, and the homemade sauce had the perfect "punch". Order this is you are hungry, as the portion is on the large side. Service was very personable and attentive. Would definitely recommend to all my friends.
google avatar

Young C.

Yelp
Not worth it for close to $70 per person for Sunday champagne brunch buffet. Not enough food choices to call it a brunch buffet and not enough serving of champagne to call it a champagne flight (3 glasses per person only) used to be better before the pandemic for food, bottomless mimosas and service. Don't go! Save your money time and effort. Very disappointing

Yelp
Today my group of friends 10 to be exact, shared our 25 th Christmas brunch at The Omni Grand Cafe. The place looks great, the set up was very nice. But, after the initial awe, the disappointment set in. The selection of foods were few, quality of most was just okay. There were a few good things like the shrimp cocktail. The shrimp were large, fresh, and really good, the sausages were very plump and tasty. The carved roast also delicious. The rest mediocre to fair. The desserts all seemed premade and defrosted. The service by Jose was very attentive. If my companions weren't such a fun group it would have been a total waste

Paul Y.

Yelp
We finally went to their breakfast buffet and were quite happy with the food. They have a small carving table, omelet station, seafood (crab shrimp and lox), a few hot entrees, and dessert trays. The waiters are attentive to your needs and they now play live jazz for your entertainment. Because most of the clientele are the hotel guests, it is not very busy and very quiet. I would mark this as a hidden gem for locals.

Yelp
Tried the Sunday Brunch at Grand Cafe this past weekend. Outstanding omelette and a Superb Waffle station. The seafood (Crab legs and Shrimp) are offered in Hot & Cold versions. Not a fan of the prime Rib want seasoned well. The service was good. Can't comment on the dessert station because I didn't eat any. After the omelette, Waffle and all those crab legs with the drawn butter, oooh boy! The $68 was a lil steep for a brunch in LA, you couldn't go and eat the meal I ate at a restaurant for $68 so I was worth it. The jazz trio made the ambience perfect. Yes I'm going back soon. I suggest a reservation because it's at the Omni Hotel and I can get busy. Enjoy!

Yelp
There were plenty of great foods to choose from - I guess that it was because of NYE. Plenty of lobster, crab, and salmon to pick from. Also, we were blessed to have an extremely attentive service who's always making sure to refill our coffees and water with a smile, too! The insides is nicely laid out, but getting into the hotel proved to be challenging as it's downtown and the security there seems to be tight with most doors locked at the time. May return sometime in the future, though ...

Yelp
Very nice location inside the Omni Hotel on Grand Ave. Nice view of the surrounding downtown area and close to the Music Center, Dorothy Chandler Pavillion and downtown museums (Broad, MOCA). The brunch appeared to be nice but heavy on shellfish. Luckily (for my partner who doesn't touch shellfish), there was a seperate breakfast menu apart from the all-inclusive brunch and prices were moderate compared to the brunch per person cost. The staff was nice and attentive (even gave us some brunch desserts gratis since we had stayed to the end of brunch service). The food was delicious (I had an omlet, nicely done, my partner had the avocado toast and fruit bowl). Generous helpings and very nicely plated, giving the food presentation a nice, touch that showed the kitchen cares about food quality and appearance. All-in-all, I would return again and perhaps do the brunch on my own!

Yelp
Weekend brunch is everything. The waffles are dangerously delicious and the whole menu includes everything you could think of. The mimosas are just a cherry on the top. Worth every penny

Yelp
Brunch with my bestie for her birthday! Located in the Omni Hotel the Grand Cafe serves breakfast, brunch (weekends only), lunch, and dinner. This review is for the brunch; of its food and the service. Let me start with the parking: Valet only ($8), lobby is small but exudes great ambiance. Grand Cafe is located on the 3rd floor across the way from its sister restaurant Noe. The food stations are well thought out and organized. Each entree was labeled so we knew exactly what we were getting. I had a grand time with the king crab... The have a breakfast waffle station and a prime rib carving station along with the other entrees and appetizers. The have free flowing coffee and water refills. For an additional $10 you get an unlimited order of either mimosa or bloody mary (come on now! How many of those breakfast drinks can one have? Seriously! I who loves adult beverages can have but 1 and pushing it, 1 1/2) LOL So for a contented tummy full of food and beverage; you'll be doing yourself a good favor by dining at the Grand Cafe. Great place for a special occasion and might be a great place for no occasion also!!! Be sure to Yelp check in for a 20% discount to your bill. If you are Angeleno, check your Living Social, Travel Zoo or Groupon ads. You might find additional discounts there.

Yelp
My wife has been wanting to go to a buffet for a while now. LA buffets do not compare to any buffets in Las Vegas so it was hard to find a place that we wanted to try. At $55pp, the price isn't too bad. Specially if you Check-In on Yelp and redeem the 20% off. Even better is that there is a TravelZoo coupon that is $75 for 2 people (Saturday ONLY though). Came here at 1130am on a Saturday and it wasn't crazy crowded. However, as it went on it got busier and busier but the service was still great. My mimosas were always refilled as soon as I took a sip. The variety itself isn't too great but the quality is there. I was a little disappointed that the meat was pre-carved under a heating lamp so it was a bit dry but it was flavorful. I did enjoy their crab legs, shrimps and clams. Overall, not bad. Wish they had oysters, lobsters and just more seafood variety in general. Oh and an actual carving station.

Yelp
I stayed here at Omni Los Angeles recently and I came away very satisfied with my breakfast Buffett at Grand Cafe. Living in San Francisco, it is very hard to find any good breakfast/brunch buffets at all. I loved the breakfast selection here at Grand Cafe. Everything was simple yet delicious. They got a waffle/omelet station with a chef and your usual spread of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pastries, and fresh-cut fruit. Surprisingly the bacon was crispy and delicious, unlike the cold damp ones you find in Las Vegas. At the table, you can request your choice of juice or coffee as well. On weekends after 10 am, they serve their brunch buffet (higher cost) which consists of crab legs, a carving station, mac & cheese amongst other selections. I was only here for the pre-10 am breakfast buffet and I loved it. The $29 price tag is easily justified with their fresh buffet selection supplemented by their friendly staff.

Yelp
Amazing buffet - come for the crab legs! My friend and I were craving a Vegas seafood buffet and wanted to see what was in the area. We did a bunch of research prior as I know seafood buffets can be a hit or miss. We made reservations a few days advance on OpenTable for 11am for a party of 2 on Sunday. We were seated right away. It looked pretty crowded, so I would recommend reservations ahead of time. The options include: HOT SEAFOOD - catch of the day, prawns, crab legs, garlic butter COLD SEAFOOD - prawns, crab legs, sushi, smoked salmon, clams BREAKFAST HOT - made-to-order omelets line, bacon, sausages, pancakes, French toast, biscuits & gravy, fried chicken, pulled pork benedict, scrambled eggs, potatoes & bell peppers BREAKFAST COLD - oatmeal, untoasted bagels/bread, cereal, fruit ASIAN - drunken noodles, kimchi fried rice, congee, dim sum (shu mai & har gao) OTHER LUNCH - mac n cheese, mashed potatoes, prime rib We definitely ate our monies worth and also enjoyed mimosas, coffee and tea on the side. Pricing is $60 PP, not including tip.

Yelp
Always looking for a great brunch spot and the Grand Cafe is definitely one of them . On the third floor the Omni Hotel in DTLA is one of the areas hidden treasures. Service was great ,Our waiter Sal was very friendly and attentive. There is a wide variety of food from made to order omelettes to fresh shrimp and crab legs. Everything was fresh and the quality was very good. Helpful hint use the 20% off check-in . There is also free street parking on Sundays but they are hard to come by . Definitely recommend this spot . I will be back! Thanks for the great brunch experience!

Yelp
Again a business dinner and this time it wasn't good at at all: a non descript salad that looked sad with carrots that seem to be maybe coming from a prefab bag and a sweet sauce that didn't help the situation. The chicken was ok but the mashed potatoes were mashed alright but maybe served a little cold so they were hardened a bit. the desert was ( a fruit tart ) was also below average. One extra star for the servers We had a good meeting but not a good dinner!

Yelp
Made a reservation for Mother's Day, and had the head manager talk to me and my mother very rude and disrespectful after we were told that walk-ins are being taken before reservations, just because they came early. we had made a reservation almost a month in advance, and was shocked by the terrible service from the head manager, who attempted to argue with me.
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
Made a reservation here for 11 AM the day before Mother's Day so they were mildly busy. We came in on time but had to wait 10 minutes for a table. When we were seated, our waiter took a while to get to our table and bring us drinks. We asked for hot water which we did not receive until the middle of our meal and a coffee which we had to ask for twice and got it just as we got our check. Also, halfway through our meal, they asked us to move tables so they could use ours for a bigger party. The servers were very kind but the service was very slow. The food was average. I really enjoyed the mini waffles (by the omelette station) and the different kinds of food they had, from blueberry sausages to shrimp cocktail, smoked salmon, dim sum, sushi, and a meat station. The meat, however, was very tough depending on which area you were cut. Also, I noticed they never refilled the dim sum for the two hours we were there. They had a cute section for desserts that I really enjoyed and I also loved the handmade signs they had for their food. Overall, average food but we were really disappointed in their service. If you're going to stop by, I would recommend only going if you are using their Groupon deal.

Yelp
I couldn't decide before writing this review whether to give Grand Cafe 2 or 3 stars... finally settled on 2! Had Sunday brunch with a group of friends to celebrate a friend's birthday, and at least the company of friends salvaged the experience. For $49 per person for their Sunday brunch, I expected much more brunch food choices as well as better quality. As one friend in our party also pointed out, there are food choices in their online menu that were nowhere to be found and according to one of the wait staff members, no longer offered because the "staff liked them more than the guests." Don't expect to feast on Menudo, Haejanggek Soup, and Poutine. In addition, the online menu shows Prime Rib at the "Chef's Carving Station." The prime rib was already cut into slices sitting under a heat lamp and drying out with no chef in sight. Perhaps the online menu needs to be updated and revised! Yes, there were made to order omelets and waffles available during Sunday brunch, but sadly, my omelet tasted dry and a little bland. The snow crab claws and legs were also disappointing; not at all meaty and the meat broke apart and was very hard to eat. Yes the poached shrimp were actually perfect and there was also a good assortment of cut pineapple, cantaloupes, watermelon, and berries as well as desserts, but unfortunately, the shrimp, fruit, and desserts are not enough to raise my rating. Overall, Sunday brunch should really be in the $25 to $30 range, not $49! Finally, my friend who celebrated her 50th birthday at the Grand Cafe was not even greeted birthday wishes by the hostess or wait staff members. When I made the reservation, I made sure to mention that we wanted to celebrate a milestone birthday for a good friend. Perhaps a Happy Birthday note on the table... perhaps just a greeting from the staff... nothing! Not even after one of my friends mentioned that we're just waiting for our friend who's celebrating her 50th when we were seated. Definitely gave me the impression that Grand Cafe is just catering to hotel guests who are probably not going to be back. Definitely not catering to locals wanting a special place for brunch which might explain the lack of food choices, mediocre quality, and lack of personal touches and attention.

Yelp
Updated new brunch buffet? My favorite healthy buffet now --- Pre-broken crab legs, huge cocktail shrimps, fresh smoked salmon, lots of fresh berries (raspberry, blue berry, black berry), and of course unlimited mimosas! Quality of all those items were fantastic! 2 hour limit which is way more than enough time even for a group of 15+. RSVP ahead of time! Great place for a date, family brunch, or a friend's birthday. I'd avoid the ethnic foods -- Mexican spicy menudo soup, weird asian foods (plain drunkin noodles that were just noodles, never seen before dim sums, korean fried rice, etc). The seafood clams were dry. No oysters? Someone reviewed there was, maybe they change it up? Other items they have if you like these: - Omelette and waffle station. They have egg whites, and the chef can cut out fresh avocados for you. - Cooked seafood was okay. Friends mentioned the crab legs tasted like soaked butter. - Meat craving station. - Okay cereal bar, toast/jam station, salad bar. - Lots of desserts from macaroons, chocolate dipped strawberries, fancier pudding/cupped desserts, and of course fruits. Excellent service on refills! PS Yelp Check-in gets you free bloody mary!!

Yelp
Great atmosphere and environment, but overall pricey and forgettable service/food - we only ordered al a carte brunch menu and did it have the buffet! Went on Saturday afternoon for brunch, total of 5 people in our group. We opted for the al la carte brunch menu, as we didn't want to overstuff ourselves and the buffet at $50 was too pricey for the value in our eyes. It was hard to get a waiter to come by often. Took awhile to get one to come take our orders, much less refill our drink glasses and later on to bring our bill and process it in a timely manner. Me and another guest in my party ordered the smoked salmon eggs benedict. Someone else ordered the ahi tuna sandwich, another ordered the LA scramble, bf ordered the huevos rancheros. Food orders took awhile to show up. Confused because our party wasn't huge and the ordered food didn't seem super difficult to make. It also was pretty empty and slow at the time. Smoked salmon eggs benedict was $19. I agree this was on the pricey side, but for a restaurant that looked like this I wasn't too surprised or outraged. However, that changed when my food arrived. First off, the size was pretty small. It came with a side of hash brown potatoes. Tomato wasn't in the Benedict, but on the side, half a tomato. What I was most unhappy with was the egg - it was overcooked, the yolk was cooked thoroughly and wasn't runny at all! Pretty much it was an overdone poached egg slathered with hollandaise sauce on top, with smoked salmon underneath all on an English muffin. I thought this was a fluke with just my order, but I look across my table and my guest's order of the Benedict had the exact same problem with the eggs! Maybe they didn't know how to make eggs here? Nope, because bf's huevos rancheros had a perfectly runny egg on it!! I stared at it in envy for the rest of the meal No particular comments were made about the LA scramble, other guest noted her ahi tuna sandwich was good. Bf mentioned his huevos rancheros had a bit too many beans in it. I can only see myself coming back here to celebrate something, or for a place to meet up and brunch with girlfriends or for special events. Have to admit the restaurant and the hotel was very nice and looked beautiful. Restrooms are located out the restaurant, down the hall in the hotel. Clean and well kept. Valet parking available, but we easily found metered street parking directly across from the hotel. Love the location and place, but unfortunately food did not leave a good impression. Definitely want to give the brunch buffet at least one try in the future to see how it is.

Yelp
I came here with my boyfriend for brunch on our anniversary. We walked through a Courtyard into the hotel and turned into the dining area around 10:15am on a Sunday. Someone came to help us within a few minutes. We had a 10:30 reservation, but there weren't many people there yet. When we were taken to our table, we got up and went to the different stations. I got eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, salad, and fruit. My boyfriend went straight to the fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, and got fruit. He then got the prime rib, and I tried the fried chicken, carnitas benedict, and Mexican cola sticky ribs. My favorites were the fried chicken and the rib. They were really well seasoned, and juicy. I was sad I couldn't partake in the crab leg/shrimp station, as I'm allergic to shellfish, but I saw people stacking that up on their plates. Another note, the meal includes beverages, including coffee and soda, and bottomless mimosas. If that's your vibe, then this really is the best bargain in LA. I was definitely tipsy after 2 mimosas. They don't skimp on the champagne. Also, there is a 20% off check in on Yelp, so take advantage. Overall, my boyfriend felt it was overpriced, but I think it's because we didn't have the shellfish, and he doesn't drink, so we didn't take full advantage. But this is a great place to bring your mom on Mother's Day, or friends from out of town. The MOCA is right next door, the Broad is around the corner, and Grand Park is a short walk away. Great brunch spot, in my opinion.

Yelp
Came here for a work-related retirement party at lunch around 11:30 a.m. on a Thursday. I think this spot was chosen because it was one of the only places in downtown that could accommodate the large size of our group and the buffet option made paying slightly easier. Also it was within walking distance. This was my first time there and I had perused the yelp reviews so was expecting something a bit more. I opted for the lunch buffet just to simplify things and because it was already there and available. It was something called "California style" and featured a lot of fish. There were some single-serving desserts, the typical salad bar-type deal, a shrimp/avocado ceviche/cocktail thing, I think some fried halibut, fingerling potatoes, steamed vegetables, turkey cutlets, and over at what I supposed would have been the main carving station, a slab of cold salmon on a white cutting board that was being served as if it were something much greater. The shrimp thing was ok, although it could have been slightly less soggy and maybe a bit more limey, but I like shrimp so it's hard for it to go terribly wrong. The fried halibut thing was flavorless, the turkey cutlets were tough and dry, and the salmon was super cold. Maybe that is some classy style that I'm not accustomed to, but I had up until then only consumed salmon that was either freshly cooked and warm, or smoked and cold (or raw and cold, i suppose, as sushi/sashimi), so I'm possibly being very ignorant about this particular style of cold-cut salmon that is actually a delicacy but I didn't like it very much. The saving grace was this yogurt-like dill thing that I ended up slathering on to give it some much needed flavor and texture. I will say though that the service was quite good. I had a glass of coke that was constantly being refilled and the used plates were picked up very quickly. The wait staff was very attentive and very present and seemed available had I needed anything but because my coke was always full I did not. I think the buffet was something like $22 and with tax and gratuity (of something like 20% because we had a large party) my tab came close to $30. I would likely not come again unless it was for a work-related event in which my absence would be conspicuous, but I would not come again if I had to choose to eat at a reasonably priced place in which I might expect to enjoy my food. I'd much rather go to the Water Court for some Mendocino Farms or Maccheroni Republic.

Yelp
The service at the Grand Cafe was terrific. We enjoyed the bottomless mimosas and the beautiful setting. Staff made certain that food was replenished on the buffet and all were attentive to our needs. We appreciated having hot and cold seafood options! I would like to have had more variety for in the choices of food, though I realize the space is not that large. The food items were adequate and basic; apart from the garlic butter, which I thought was delicious on the hot crab legs, nothing "wowed" me. If invited to brunch at the Grand Cafe, I would attend, but personally, I might seek out other brunch locations throughout the city. The Grand Cafe location is ideal if you want to pair brunch with a midday event at the Disney Concert Hall, the MOCA, or the Music Center. Each venue is as close as next door to just a short walk down the street. Make sure to check in on Yelp to get your discount off the price of brunch!

Yelp
Really good brunch buffet on sundays. Love the fresh made waffles and pancakes especially. A really good variety of options: standard breakfast, oatmeal, cheeses, crab legs, shrimp, fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, prime rib, miso soup, paella, salmon, clams, breakfast pastries, various desserts. Overall, there is something for everyone and the atmostphere is very nice and modern. It also has a nice view with big windows and you can see the museum of contemporary art right next door. Great brunch experience for the price, highly recommend.

Yelp
My family and I went to Grand Cafe on June 30 and enjoyed their "The Art of BBQ" for lunch! We got a very good discount from Groupon. In June 30, the theme was "Japanese BBQ". The lunch comes with bottomless beer for each guest who is 21 and up! But, because we got ours from Groupon, my wife and I got 2 beers each. It is still a great deal as we don't drink that much during lunch time. The election of BBQ were not that much. Although the theme was Japanese, however, I think only the seafood soup and the beer can related to Japanese but nothing else. There were BBQ pork ribs, BBQ Salmon, BBQ veggies, roasted potato and BBQ Chicken. They all taste great! The most outstanding portion of the lunch was the deserts. They were all beautifully made and presented. They are not that sweet and lovely! We love the Mango Tart the best! By the way, I saw other people who ordered Deon the regular menu and their plates were so beautiful as well! I might go back and try their regular menu later! Grand Case opens 6:30 am to 3:00 pm daily. The Art of BBQ is only last until mid August. Please go there and try before it ends!

Yelp
Parking tip: if you valet and validate the ticket at the restaurant it's cheaper than self-park Pro: service was great! Attentive and quick. If it wasn't for the service I would give them 1 star Cons: the food was just okay, nothing special and considering I got a deal on the meal from TravelZoo (4 people voucher for $140) I basically paid $35 per person and still feel like I overpaid because of the food quality. My biggest gripe is my party came in with 16 vouchers but we only had a party of 13 people but the restaurant still took the 16 vouchers. So basically overcharged me over $100 and then still made me tip on top of that. AND they said it was 2 hour bottomless mimosa but they cut us off at an hour and half. What a rip off, waste of time and whatever on food.

Yelp
My Saturday,s morning started here. Their service is on a high level. All staff are friendly. Incredible food. We ordered French Toast, Belgian Waffles and Steak with Eggs. Overall, there are a lot of interesting things to try Strongly recommend this place and I'll definitely come back again.

Yelp
Not to break the mold on hotel AYCE brunch but it does raise the bar. Especially for the price & bottomless mimosa. Saturday buffet review. I hear Sunday adds seafood for a few bucks more. It's a usual buffet with all the usual offerings for the usual price of $26. The cost seems to jump around a bit but well within brunch limits and especially when you throw in bottomless mimosa. Smoked salmon a plenty Proshuto was not replenished but what was there was good Great service Patio tables Takes reservations on OpenTable TIP: Ask Omelet Man for a fresh, hot and soft mini-waffle. It's doughnut soft and delicious only needing a touch of maple syrup. You will thank me. When in LA and especially if you're staying at the Omni, hit up the Grand Café for weekend brunch. It's worth it's weight in food.

Yelp
I came here because there are bottomless mimosa and the most fluffy and mouthwatering waffles. The desserts were all amazing looking, but they had macarons and that's all I need to make me happy. They have fresh cut fruit, roast, dim sum, seafood, shrimp cocktail and crab legs, and omelette station, soup, and so much more.

Yelp
Came for Brunch last weekend to celebrate a friends birthday- funny this was the same reason I came here last time. The food is still the same- an all you can eat affair with lots of seafood. In someways I think they could do a slightly better job keeping the food area tidy.... but they deserve ten stars for how welcoming and nice they were to our 15 month old daughter. They really went out of their way to help us with napkins, fruit, and didn't get upset in the least when our little one decided to use the yogurt for facial. Hats off to the waitstaff.

Yelp
The food was ok. Everything was like warm to me. I'm someone that enjoys hot food. Their selection is minimal for $50. I was expecting a bit more. I've been to plenty of other spots, even at the beach, and their selection has a more wide array of items. Service was great. Had a party of 10 for a bridal brunch. Tasted mimosas and knew right away they're not for me. Ordered juice instead. Parking is $10 with validation. Nice to try once, but I've had better brunch from other places.

Yelp
Came here to the Grand Cafe for the brunch buffet the other day. I have previously been here before so this was my second time here. The restaurant is located in the Omni hotel. The buffet is elaborate with different sections. There's an waffle, egg, omelet station where it can get kind of slow since it's only 1 chef manning all those stations. Then along the wall you have your standard breakfast items. There's an Asian station where they have miso soup, congee, dim sum in a giant steamer, and a noodle dish. There's another section with more hearty items like a pulled pork benedict, ribs, The center island area is the chilled seafood, there's shrimp, some shellfish and some crab legs. There's also a carving station where there's prime rib and a big pan of seafood. The desserts are on this book case where you can grab whatever you are craving at the moment. There's canolis to macarons, to other great desserts. Don't forget to check in for a free bloody mary. Parking: street parking if you're lucky or there's valet where they'll validate $10 for the first 2 hours.

Yelp
When my wife told me to look for a New Year's Eve restaurant, I knew that she meant "Look for a buffet". It took a while for Google to find a New Year's Eve buffet that met her standards, but, Google finally found it. New Year Eve dinner was spent at the Grand Cafe at their prime rib and seafood buffet and with a bunch of flatlanders from Iowa. The Grand Cafe is located in the Omni Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. The Omni Hotel was a host hotel to the fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes who would be playing in the 2016 Rose Bowl. Hawkeye fans were gathered in the lobby as we made our way to the third floor. Hawkeye Merchandise was available for sale at a makeshift booth near the elevator. Hawkeye fans were inside the Grand Cafe eating what the prime rib and seafood that had my name on it. The buffet is no comparison to the Universal Hilton buffet. They have a lot less food offerings. But, I thought the quality of the food offered was better than the Universal Hilton. Universal does their every weekend. The Omni does not do regular buffet dinners. They only do a weekly buffet brunch that I will have to try one day. Their prime rib was excellent. Their chef's used a nice dry rub on the meat and cooked it perfectly rare. The meat carver was a real and personable guy. He was willing to carve you a slice of meat to whatever size you wanted. The first piece he carved for me was over an inch thick. The seafood station was a little different from most buffets, but, it was good. They had the usual snow crab legs, oysters, and shrimp. But, what set them apart from others from other buffets is that they also had clams, oysters Rockefeller, halibut, crab claws and a lobster bisque. They served hot foods including mashed potatoes, Brussel sprouts and other food offering. The mashed potato was not child approved as it seemed to have goat cheese in it. They also had a nice selection of desserts. Service was good. The wait staff cleared our tables regularly. They made sure our glasses were filled. They even tried to chit chat with us. There was no street parking. They only do valet parking for $7. The buffet was good, with a right price of $40 for adults and $20 for children. It was a nice last meal for the Iowans before their team lost the next day. It was a good way for the family to close out 2015. The buffet was impressive enough for me to want to try it again one day.

Yelp
Grand Cafe in the Omni Hotel brunch buffet offered limited and dismal selection. It was crowded with athletes because of the NBA all Star event this weekend. Most of the food didn't really appeal to me so I skipped it and ordered a my caffeine fix right in their mini cafe lobby, turns out, they serve Peet's coffee yay!

Yelp
This is a place not to go if you want a nice place to chat and have a nice brunch. It is very very loud and staff does not control the disturbance from other guest. I was here on a date and the table from across the room was 4 guys and they were yelling at everyone walking by "who's house " as they yelled at everyone as well as each table. This became very annoying g and uncomfortable. To pay so much money to have that type of treatment wow! The staff and managers said it did nothing. I also made a reservation and when I arrived to check in another guest walked up to ask for a table. He told the lady that he did not have a reservation. Next think I know he was taken and put at a very nice 4 top table near a window and very quiet. My three guest and myself were taken to the far back next to 2 very large larger loud parties where we could not even have a conversation or hear each other. I then told the manager that we needed to move it was too loud. Then I asked. Why were we not offered the table at the window that you had given to the guy with no reservation. We were first and reservation. He said he didn't know and I could wait for something to come available to move. 35/40 mins later we were able to move. But at that point it didn't matter. $240 later and it was horrible , loud, horrible service and for what ?
