On the Grid : Grand Central Bakery

"Two words: monkey muffins. While Grand Central offers many fine breads, pastries, and sandwiches for both breakfast and lunch, the monkey muffins -- handheld servings of simultaneously chewy and crisp monkey bread -- will keep you coming back. Grand Central is the perfect spot to start a day out and about. Grab a cup of coffee, a savory breakfast biscuit sandwich or one of the aforementioned muffins, and you're set to hit the road." - Kevin M. Fitzgerald

Where to Find the Best Croissants in Portland | Eater Portland

"Although larger chain bakeries typically don’t invest in the time and care required to make a standout croissant, Grand Central Bakery makes an exceptional butter croissant with a crunchy crust and an open, airy interior. Another notable offering is its pesto and cheese croissant, filled with kale-hazelnut pesto and a mix of three cheeses. Grand Central Bakery currently has seven Portland-area locations, all selling a variety of croissants." - Michelle Lopez

Google
Just following this brand name after founding their sourdough bread so good. Honestly I'm not disappointed at all even though it took me 40 min to drive to the nearest location. Very good place for a quick bite and coffee.

A really great cafe. Lots of inside and outside seating available, and very spacious. The coffee was fantastic and they had a sugar free option. The coffee was high quality and made with skill. The croissant sandwich was very good as well. Good quality food and coffee and a great place to enjoy it indoor or outdoor, so it's a win for me. I recommend them.

Always friendly and helpful. Good food. We always get their sourdough bread and they slice it too. Cookies and coffee cake, and they make a great mocha with real whip cream. Portland has an overabundance of coffee shops but only a few of them can make a good mocha. Isaac helped us today and was friendly and courteous. They had great tips and suggestions about the food and life in general

I love this area of town! Grand Central on N Fremont Street is a popular and typically busy location. The space has both indoor and outdoor seating. Finding parking can at times be a pain. You may have to find a space on a residential side street. The staff are friendly, but as there are most often people in line, ordering can feel a bit rushed. The indoor space can feel tight and crowded when the queue is long. In nicer weather, the outdoor seating area feels more open and less cramped. The coffee menu is small and quite basic. Food options are plentiful. Freshly made bread, coffee cakes, pastries, scones, quiche, and sandwiches are available. Soup, seasonal salads, and meal specials are also on offer. One of my personal favorite food items is the Pecan Pull Apart pastry! There is a public restroom at this location.

I walked in and quickly ordered the first sandwich that caught my eye, which was the tuna melt. When it came out, it had capers on it, which i personally cannot stand. I fully acknowledge that had I read the description for the tuna sala sandwich listed on the menu directly above, I would have known that the tuna melt comes also with capers. Despite this, they offered me a replacement sandwich, showcasing their amazing customer service. The bread here is absolutely delicious, and the rest of the ingredients used in the sandwiches seem to be high quality. I'd return to try more items on their menu, for sure.

Don’t come here in a rush: this place was nearly packed at 2p on a weekday.. but because it’s so lovely you’ll want to return! Had a delicious cup of soup with fresh bread and a lay of butter. Perfect after a long walk this morning! Seating for small parties or solo at the window bar seats. So happy I saw the +++++ reviews for this place. $5 for meal, with added tip

I’ve always loved the bread. I’ve had a years long love affair with the pecan rolls…I wasn’t prepared for the BLT. Perfect in every way, bread toasted but not enough to destroy the roof of your mouth, thick slightly sweet bacon, huge slabs of summer tomatoes, fresh green leaf and (extra) best foods. Nothing fancy, everything where it should be. Thank you for making my day!

One of the finest bakeries in earth. Grand Central’s croissants and bread fill a good portion of our household calories. The cafe is cozy and warm, and consistently busy during the brunch and lunch hour. The staff are a happy accommodating bunch. Highly recommend!

Yelp
The staff has been wonderful for the many years I've visited. The last three times they've been out of Potato Rolls, so please make more if they're that popular.

Yelp
i heard about this place from tiktok so i decided to take my friend from out of town here. i love how they have several food options besides just their pastries. i got their seasonal hazelnut pesto chicken salad which was absolutely delicious. all the different textures and flavors worked so well together. we came an hour before closing. there was still quite a few people coming into the place even at this time. i felt pretty guilty about this, but the worker at the front counter was super friendly and did not seem bothered at all. she helped my friend choose a sandwich that he ended up loving. i love how this cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating options. the cafe is super spacious and open, it feels very sleek and clean. i was surprised at how there were so many seating options. i did not get the chance to try their pastries or drinks, but they looked delicious! it's super cute how they have bake-your-own items as well.
