Can the Good Food 100 List Change the Way Restaurants Think About Food? | Eater

"A Pacific Northwest bakery chain that joined the 2019 Good Food 100 by sharing detailed data on sourcing, business operations, and labor practices. Participation means its purchases were evaluated against peers to determine how much of its budget goes to verified good-food producers, and that it contributed to the nonprofit’s effort to create transparent benchmarks and expand access to producer information across the industry." - Monica Burton

Google
5 stars for the Grand Central bakery products and service. Zero stars for having a wholesale bakery on our NW neighborhood but not a single Grand Central retail location for miles. There are dozens of empty spots. Grand Central has such a great reputation it seems they would thrive even if lesser businesses have not. Or at least have some product available at the wholesale spot for pickup.

So welcoming here ! This Unit here is the office not a sale point as I thought but the person who open the door was absolutely adorable and so welcoming ! I wish GCB will open soon one in NW Portland. Some building are on lease on Thurman Street !!! Just near by the Forest Park, it would have been nice to have one here. All the bakery from Grand Central is delicious, savory definitely The Best from a french point of view !😍😍😍

This review is not for the bread (which I love) but for the breakfast menu at Grand Central. We came here for coffee and some breakfast sandwiches and both left still feeling a little hungry and our wallets much lighter. In my opinion, you can get much better breakfast fare elsewhere. We didn't have any pastries which looked good, so I can't speak for that, however if you're legitimately hungry, find somewhere else to brunch!

Grand Central makes a good lunch, but could be so much better with one change. Appeal to the local labor force. Right in the middle of an industrial area, this place takes 20 minutes to make a sandwich and thus completely shuts out the hundreds of laborers within walking distance who have only 30 minutes for lunch. A selection of already made sandwiches might fix this, as might daily delivery agreements with local businesses. One only has to look at the nearest Jack in the Box during the lunch rush to see the missed opportunity. A quick, affordable alternative to fast food would make this place even busier. Right now it's just a pretty good, eight dollar sandwich.

I went here hoping to enjoy delicious food and a beverage, but the workers don't listen very well. They aren't exactly friendly either. Although while my drink tasted horrible, the pastry wasn't bad.

Delightful breakfast sandwich with a tasty cup of coffee all enjoyed while watching the bakers do their thing. Already looking forward to my next visit.

Great sandwiches on really great bread. The lunches are a bit on the pricey side though.

This location no longer has a cafe on sight. The nearest cafe location is at 715 N. Fremont St.
