The Essential Atlanta Barbecue Restaurants and Pop-Ups

"Owner Robert Owens is working on a burgeoning barbecue empire in Atlanta. After originally opening Grand Champion in Roswell in 2011, there’s now a location in Milton and in Smyrna. Try the baby back ribs, brisket sandwich on a Martin’s potato bun, or the pork and beef sausage plate." - Eater Staff

Really enjoyed the service and food here. The brisket was really fatty and the moisture was a boy inconsistent, but still actually very tender and tasty. The burnt ends were not true burnt ends but closer to just pulled pork. However, the absolute highlight and 5 star item was the mac 'n cheese. It was pitched as award winning, and I would vote for it myself. Super creamy and packed full of flavor. I would come back just for the mac.

The brisket had great flavor (loved the bark) and enjoyed the potato salad. The food came out quick and service was good. The biggest disappointment was the Mac and cheese. It came out room temp/cold and loaded with oil. Seems like it was made a while ago and pulled out of the fridge with minimal reheating. Shame is it was a $1 extra for this premium side.

Dog friendly out door seating. *Best* beef brisket of all BBQ so far. Good wine and cocktail selection, not too many- just right. Good service, GM Chris also stopped by, friendly chap. Great blues played in the background. Again just right, not too loud not too soft, just right. Greater metro ATL's best BBQ, imo now.

Holy cow. Im visiting from Texas, and I have to concede that Georgia might have us beat with the BBQ from this place. The ribs melted off the bone. The southern lasagna (mac and cheese with brun swick stew poured over) was divine. Good service and food was brought out fast. Im lookingforward to my next trip out hereto get more.

1st time here. Good day to eat outside. Food is great. Had the Baby Back Ribs that was quite meaty. If you haven't been before, I highly recommend this location.

Great food, best bbq around but also amazing sides. No need for sauce although the sauces are great also. This location you can match your bbq with a bourbon!

Short rib is a culinary masterpiece. Mac and cheese is great and interior is of quality.
