The 16 Best Bangkok Hotels, From Grande Dames to Converted Canal Homes

"The Grand Hyatt Erawan offers a true five-star experience, from the house Mercedes to the helipad up on the roof. The over-the-top amenities, which make this hotel a favorite among corporate execs and stylish jet-setting families, also include the Erawan Spa Cottages, a cluster of resort-style villa suites that all face gardens. Oversize soaking tubs, rain showers, Nakamichi stereo systems, free-flowing cocktails, and a personal spa concierge are just a few of the many perks. Make sure to check out their Sunday brunch—it's regarded as one of the best in the city." - Jenny Adams

"Grand Hyatt Erawan epitomizes modern Bangkok —it's big, busy, and well-located. The hotel is almost its own stop on the Sky Train, and once you step outside, you're on one of the most active corners of metropolitan Asia. Although the Grand Hyatt is linked to a shopping mall via a sky bridge, the world slows down a touch inside the hotel. The comings and goings of suit-clad men and women and shoppers clutching huge bags creates a soft-edged urban atmosphere. The high-ceilinged, almost colonial-feeling lobby sets up a pleasing contrast with the clean lines, neutral tones, and natural light of the spacious rooms. The hotel is kitted out with lots of technological perks, such enhanced work desk lighting and LCD screen TVs, and the service is attentive."

Grand Hyatt Erawan Bangkok

"So, anything special this hotel is known for? Grand Hyatt Erawan does one of the best Sunday brunches in the city, one that attracts a lot of locals. There's also the Erawan Tea Room, which does an award-winning high tea. We'll definitely have to try the Sunday brunch. What about the neighborhood? Does the hotel fit in, make itself part of the scene? Help orient us. The hotel is located right next to Erawan Shrine, which is a popular tourist site. It's also directly adjacent to all levels of shopping at Siam Paragon, Siam Center, and Siam Discovery, as well as MBK, one of Asia's largest malls. It sounds pretty central; that's perfect. Tell us what we missed—are there any tips you'd like to offer up? The Erawan Spa Cottages are a cluster of resort-style villa suites that all face gardens. Oversize soaking tubs, rain showers, Nakamichi stereo systems, free-flowing cocktails, and a personal spa concierge are just a few of the many perks." - Jenny Adams

"Adjacent to the Erawan Shrine, this hotel’s refurbishment in 2017 and central location are a boon to travellers. Rooms effortlessly blend classic Thai touches with contemporary design and offer tasteful luxury. Excellent hotel in a prime location – with genuinely warm and professional service. I felt very welcome throughout my stay, and the complimentary upgrade was a lovely surprise. The staff are attentive and friendly, the atmosphere relaxed but elegant, and everything runs smoothly. Still, overall a great experience – and I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended. That said, two very minor remarks – shared in the spirit of constructive feedback, not criticism: 1. The culinary offerings in the Club Lounge could use a little refresh. Compared to other Hyatt properties (even some lower-rated ones like the excellent Hyatt Regency), the selection felt limited – especially for vegetarian guests, and there’s currently no Afternoon Tea. 2. While the hotel is beautifully maintained, it’s beginning to show its age in some corners. A gentle facelift in selected areas would help this iconic property shine even brighter. But these are details – and they didn’t change the fact that I had a wonderful time. Thank you to the whole team for making me feel so at home. I look forward to returning soon – and to seeing this Bangkok classic continue to evolve.

I had such a wonderful stay at Grand Hyatt Erawan. The service is truly impeccable – the staff notice all the little details, from opening the taxi door, holding the entrance door, to assisting with luggage. At breakfast, the service crew were extremely attentive; I had a little flu and they kindly passed me tissues without me even asking – such thoughtful hospitality. The room may be a little dated, but it is very clean and well-maintained. Amenities are complete and ensure a very comfortable stay. The location is unbeatable – directly linked to the skywalk, making it so easy to shop or get around the city conveniently. Overall, a fantastic stay with service that really goes above and beyond. Highly recommend!

It is a great hotel overall, the location is perfect, staff is very friendly and professional. Rooms are not the biggest but with decent space. Feels a bit old, but decent, usually Grand Hyatt feels old. Facilities in the hotel are great, breakfast was great and dinner good enough. I tried oysters and smelt like spoiled fish so I avoided eating eat, the only downside. Housekeeping was extremely nice and went way further, anytime we had a request they provided the goods quickly and they took nice care of my clothes when they did the room. It was a young guy that I don't remember his name but thank you very much. I hope I can return there soon!

My favourite hotel in Bangkok for their excellent service and also I loved their breakfast especially noodles with dumplings. Staff is friendly and prompt. However, cleaning of rooms need to improve but staff is very prompt and fast to rectify. So overall 9.9/10 🩷

I had a truly wonderful stay at Grand Hyatt Erawan – thank you to the entire team for such a great experience! To give some context, I was in Bangkok for a medical trip and was mainly looking for a hotel that was convenient in terms of location, with easy access to food and shops. Grand Hyatt Erawan delivered on all fronts. It’s perfectly located, and everything I needed was within reach.I had a truly wonderful stay at Grand Hyatt Erawan – thank you to the entire team for such a great experience! To give some context, I was in Bangkok for a medical trip and was mainly looking for a hotel that was convenient in terms of location, with easy access to food and shops. Grand Hyatt Erawan delivered on all fronts. It’s perfectly located, and everything I needed was within reach.Because of its central location, the hotel is bustling and lively – almost every room seemed occupied during my stay. While it may not be the quiet, secluded kind of 5-star hotel some might prefer, I personally loved the energy. The constant flow of guests and families made me feel safe and never alone, even when walking through the corridors late at night. The breakfast buffet was a highlight – delicious and thoughtfully curated. I really appreciated that the chefs came out to greet guests and ask for feedback. It made the whole experience feel warm and communal, like everyone belonged there.Service was also impeccable. The staff were responsive and attentive, and housekeeping was fast and efficient. I also loved that the "Privacy Please" feature was connected to the front desk – the moment I deactivated it, my laundry was delivered right away. Little touches like this made a big difference.Although I didn’t get to try the spa, pool, or gym myself, my partner did and raved about it every morning. If I had to mention one downside, it would be the traffic – which is expected given the central location. Just make sure to plan your travel time, especially during peak hours. All in all, I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. I’ll definitely be back for my next visit.
