Goa, India Dining Guide to the Food & Drink Scene - Eater

"High-ceilinged corridors, reflective pools, and charming courtyards full of mango trees effortlessly blend in with the surrounding lush rice paddies at this 118-room luxe Hyatt resort in South Goa. The hotel restaurant, Spice Studio, encircles a majestic banyan tree and serves homey dishes from India’s southwestern coast, like the Thalassery Kozhi Biryani from northern Kerala, in which rice and chicken are cooked separately and later layered in a large pot. Be sure to sip one of the Courtyard Bar’s kokum-infused martinis. Rooms start at $200 during the high season." - Zinara Rathnayake

Park Hyatt Goa Resort and Spa

"This former Portuguese colony south of Mumbai on the Arabian Sea coast provided the British designer Simeon Halstead with a wealth of architectural motifs: canals crossed by stepped bridges, Baroque churches and fountains, a lively central plaza—all of which come into play, reinterpreted with a sense of whimsy and, above all, drama. The 251-room resort looks even better at night, thanks to theatrical lighting by Babu Shankar. Another integral part of the hotel’s charm is the unusual array of activities: reputedly the largest swimming pool in India, an adorable chocolate box of a theater presenting international art films and live shows, a cooking school, and an Ayurvedic spa. The food is superb in all five eateries, including a signature Goan restaurant, an Italian trattoria, and a California-style grill. Oh, yes, and the beach is flawless."

Grand Hyatt Goa

"A lush 28-acre resort with 314 rooms and suites, seven restaurants and bars, a 34,000-square-foot spa, and indoor and outdoor pools. Grandly austere style with soaring doors, windows, and tiled roofs and cool, recessed balconies enhanced by reflecting pools, a picturesquely ruined chapel, and the convoluted contours of ancient banyans."

The location is absolutely beautiful — close to the beach with a lovely climate that enhances the overall experience. The hotel property is massive and stunning. To truly explore and enjoy the full property, I’d recommend staying at least 2 to 3 nights. Hospitality and service were really good. Although the service was slightly delayed at times, it was still manageable and didn’t affect the overall experience. The entire ambiance felt very refreshing and relaxing — perfect for a getaway. The food was awesome! Even the internal restaurants within the property serve delicious meals. Pricing felt fair for the level of service, experience, and location provided. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here and wish I could have stayed a bit longer!

The food spread was excellent. Housekeeping staff and room service was very prompt. Excellent location and views. 3 big swimming pools which were well maintained. In house casino with complimentary day entry. Also the in house complimentary day care creche facility was also very useful for couples travelling with kids. Overall a very good place for long family stay close to central Goa.

Honest Review: Before you book. ---- We recently stayed at Grand Hyatt Goa and overall had a great experience — with a few important things to note upfront. Beach Access: If you're expecting a typical sandy beachfront, be aware — this property doesn’t have one. The beach is rocky with limited or no direct access for swimming. That said, the waves and sea views from the expansive hotel lawns are still soothing and scenic. Room Tip – Bay View Balcony Rooms only: The real highlight of the property is the Bay View Rooms with a balcony. These offer stunning sea views and a spacious layout. If you're not booking this category, honestly, you might get similar value at other premium hotels in Goa. The room size and balcony view truly elevate the experience. Service & Dining: The service is exceptional — warm, prompt, and professional throughout our stay. Breakfast, while not as extensive as something you’d find at a JW Marriott Mumbai, is still top-notch in terms of taste and quality. The live counters serve fresh, hot dishes that hit the spot every time. Special mention to Vaibhav, Dipak, Balwant, Rahul, Prabhu from the dining team and Girish (Chulha) — their on-table service made breakfast a delight every morning. Final Word: Full marks to the entire service staff for handling demanding (and at times ill-mannered) guests from north india with grace & patience. Their professionalism deserves recognition.

Our stay at Grand Hyatt Goa was absolutely magical, especially in the rain. Our spacious room with a private balcony offered stunning views especially in the rain. The spa facility was exceptional, offering rejuvenating treatments that melted stress away. The breakfast buffet at The Dining Room was phenomenal, with a vast variety of fresh, delicious options. The staff's warm, attentive service made us feel truly special. Highly recommend this luxurious property

A huge property widely spread. I walked in the rain today and felt the rainy weather. Loved it. They have rooms spacious. Had dinner today and was all good. Desserts were perfect. They conveyed us in the buggy to the dining and back to room. Service is fast and good. Good to see you back.

The property was huge and well maintained. Indoor and outdoor pool were were very clean and maintained. Liked the Sea view and the greenery. Staff was polite and helpful. Food was also amazing. Overall happy with the stay. Concept of camp hyatt was also very nice for kids where toys and activities were organized for them.

The property is beautiful. Rooms are spacious and we'll maintained. There is no dearth of activities which is great because there is nothing to do in the neighborhood. I was travelling with a toddler so the indoor and outdoor play area was a great plus. They arrange different activities for the kids at camp hyatt. The staff is extremely courteous and friendly. They really went out of their way to make us comfortable. Manashi from F&b was extremely courteous. But the staff who really stood out for us was Ms Sangeeta. It was actually because of her that we decided to extend our stay. Overall it was a memorable stay and we of love to visit again.

Our recent stay at the Grand Hyatt Goa was, unfortunately, quite disappointing and fell well short of what one would expect from a 5-star property. To start with the positives – the pool was truly excellent, beautifully maintained and a highlight of the property. The beach and the buggy service were also very efficient and added to the experience. The overall infrastructure, particularly from the beach side, was impressive. The spa services were top-notch and very professionally managed, although there was confusion regarding the application of discounts – some guests received them, others didn’t, and there seemed to be no clear policy, which was frustrating. While some of the staff members were kind, helpful and courteous, the overall communication between departments was very poor. Despite sending all required identification in advance and calling the hotel to ensure a smooth check-in, none of this information was passed on. The deposit I had already paid was also not recorded properly, leading to unnecessary delays during checkout as the staff struggled to locate the payment record. There were other basic shortcomings that surprised me for a hotel of this calibre. For instance, there was no hand-washing sink in the main restaurant – a very basic necessity in India, where not everyone uses cutlery. The only option was to go to the restroom, which meant elderly guests had to climb stairs just to wash their hands before and after meals. The in-room television did not work and required guests to use their own phones to mirror content – with functionality limited to Android phones. This is simply not acceptable in a luxury hotel. Overall, while certain aspects of the stay were enjoyable, the lack of internal coordination, inconsistent service standards, and basic infrastructural oversights made this a disappointing experience. The Grand Hyatt Goa has potential, but significant improvements are needed for it to truly live up to its 5-star rating.
