NOLA Restaurants Aim to Shift Attention Down the Bayou After Hurricane Ida | Eater New Orleans

"I learned that the farm of Scott Maurer’s Louisiana Oyster Co., a well-known restaurant oyster supplier out of Grand Isle, was reportedly destroyed by Hurricane Ida." - Clair Lorell

The food was wonderful as was most of the staff, except our Elonda L (our server). She was condescending from the start, sent stuff we didn't order, and didn't send things we did order. I guess because the 20% gratuity is automatic doesn't matter. Everyone else and the food made up for her so I still round up 4.5 to 5. The Grand Isle oyster soup was a delightful spin on oyster stew. I know another establishmemt is known for their charbroiled oysters but G.I. surpasses them in flavor and preparation (imo). The grilled ceasar salad was perfect, good smoky grilled taste, slightly charred.

Google
This place was spectacular! The food was amazing. The charbroiled oyster was to die for OMG. Also the shrimp and grits…like…literally no words. You just have to try it. By the way our server, Kevin, went above and beyond for our table. Drinks were brought on time, water refills, our food, all of that. I hope he gets every penny of that 20% mandatory gratitude fee!

Google
We waited at least 5 min before some one came to greet us. Our server Jolanda was really nice and gave honest reviews on items to order. The food was just mid. ( not great and not bad) If you order catfish, chicken sandwich it is not seasoned.👎🏽 Very Bland! The jambalaya was spicy with no flavor.👎🏽 I had fried shrimp and it was pretty good and the chargrilled oysters were good! Keep in mind a 20% gratuity is automatically charged to your check! Besides the service the food for the price isn't worth it. Disappointed! Never Again!

Google
Large group dinner, lots of fun, decent food, service lacking. It is spacious, there's plenty of seating without being on top of one another, yet, all servers aren't able to handle large groups. The cornbread and oysters were the best thing smoking!!!

Google
The food we ordered was excellent, the "Pimms Cup" I ordered wasn't so great. We had a fried chicken sandwich with an order of shrimp and grits. But that Pimms cup didn't need the maraschino cherry and bitters added to it. Im from Louisiana, and that's not a good "New Orleans" style Pimms Cup, it also costs like 25$ for that beverage.

Google
I don't have anything negative to say about this place, apart from the automatic 20% tax. Our server was outstanding! And the food was very good! My wife had the "Chili Mint Wings" and a side of "corn grits" and she was raving about them! I ordered the "Smoked Bleu Burger" since I wasn't too hungry but you would never have thought that cuz I ate the whole thing and the fries! I opt the Mayo for ranch and that burger was done! It had a very smokey flavor and the bacon was nice and crispy. Our friends ordered the "Grilled Creaser Salads" and the "Smoked Fried Oysters, both were delicious. To be honest after the food and great service the 20% was well worth it.

Google
Grand. Great. Absolutely grateful we found this fine, Big Easy establishment. While we did already partake in more touristy NOLA - not that there’s anything wrong with that - you can only go right with Grand Isle. And I’ll mention our orders were from some alternate food dimension that can only be crafted by their chef. The menu makes it clear: “No Refunds” ‘cause that’s how CONFIDENT they are with what they serve and clearly the labor of love that goes into their grand grub. We got a Caesar Salad, which is a rather basic choice. But here they baste 2 large uncut romaines with a dreamy dressing. Do make sure to have the Icebox Lemon 🍋 Pie, that’s key-lime-esque but lemony fresh with a fruit compote. Do not eat this dessert. Rather let it slowly seep into your tastebuds. My dish of fish was fan-freakin’-tasty. The corn grits are a hit (even as someone who normally despises grits). Make sure to talk to the staff - The servers, hosts, and bartenders are food-fluent and insightful. And whether you’re a foodie or not, your trip to Grand Isle is an investment beyond worthwhile!

Google
We had a great meal here, and the service was friendly and welcoming! A good spot to check out when visiting New Orleans, with reasonable prices.

Yelp
The Po' boy was rich AF. You gotta check this place out. Authentic. Flavorful. Inexpensive. SO good.

Yelp
I don't even know where to begin with what an awful experience this was. The ambiance was fine, the restaurant was clean. That's the best thing I have to say about it. I ordered the barbecue shrimp at the bar-having no idea they came whole-so you would have to peel the shell, head, and legs off of them. I can't do this in a work suit and the sauce looked mighty dark and muddy for barbecue and wasn't enticing at all. I explained this to the bartender and she took it away and I ordered something else. When my bill came it still had the shrimp on it so I asked her to take them off. She said that was against policy. I asked her why she didn't tell me this when I ordered something else and she said she couldn't tell everyone I asked for the manager who reiterated the same-and I also noticed they add 20% gratuity to every check-now I understand why she didn't say anything when I ordered another dish. I told the manager I respected the policy but to please remove the auto grat as the bartender blatantly disrespected me, and she did. The bartender was livid and tossed the check presented back at me-I said 'oh we're throwing things now?' To which she replied 'it slipped out of my hands; grow up'. Another bartender came over and apologized. What an embarrassment. Steer clear folks-if they have policies in place to protect against food being sent back and an auto grat even on a 1 person check-you know both food and service are questionable

Yelp
I was worried when I first walked in bc there was a party of like 20-25 people. But we got seated within 15mins. The restaurant itself look like a new orleans style restaurant. Great for huge parties or dinners. We got Mark for a server and he was amazing. He made sure everything was correct and that all our needs were meet. We ordered the chargrilled oysters, wings, hot crab dip, and crawfish beignets. Everything came out fast fresh and bursting with flavor. Being a new orleans native I was very very impressed!!!!!! This is def an authentic New Orleans Restaurant! For entrees we ordered the redfish on half shell, ribs n mac, and blackened fish and crawfish. Everything was amazing! The blackened fish was my favorite! Cant wait to go back!

Yelp
After a conference and some shopping at the Riverwalk mall near the convention center, I was hungry and ready to eat something. I ended up here since another restaurant nearby had a 25 minute wait and I just wanted to have something sooner. I am glad I stopped here. The waitress, Callie, was super nice and recommended the po boy and another dish. I decided to try the po boy after I had tried one T the convention center which had been very disappointing so was hoping for this one to be good. This one did not disappoint! It was very good. The fries were also very good, fresh, very hot and crispy. One thing to note is they automatically add on 20% gratuity which I am not a fan of places going this, because service can sometimes be bad. In this case it was good, so that's ok.

Yelp
Delicious!!! I have passed this place a million times and finally tried it. Very cute decor and my waiter was great! He gave me a great entree suggestion. I loved every part of it. Grilled fish over spinach and fried potato cake topped with a crawfish sauce. It was extremely enjoyable. My waiter was very attentive. They offer a good happy hour special for oysters so I would love to come back again and try.

Yelp
Found this place last year and fell in-love. Was horrified when we arrived on Monday and it was closed as well as Tuesday. Thankfully Wednesday was the night they opened. Was not disappointed, food, service was on point as well as the atmosphere.

Yelp
The best and most authentic char grilled Cesar salad I've had in a long time! The drinks were top tier and the service was impeccable. Everyone was so kind!
google avatar

Adele C.

Yelp
I was staying nearby and needed a solo dinner, so I grabbed a spot at the bar. The bar was nice - marble counter, dark wood bar, and adjacent to the oyster shucking station for entertainment. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. I started with a Negroni and ordered the Shrimp Camanada Poboy and a side of fries. The poboy and fries were okay, but nothing to rave about, which was a shame because the concept was good and it could have been a home run if it were better executed. In a city full of great food, this wasn't bad enough to complain about but not good enough to return for. ETA - the restaurant sent a rude message in response to this honest review. That's really unprofessional and terrible customer service.

Yelp
A must while in NOLA, great food cocktails and some of the best service from Tiara (sp). Tiki Hubby and I share oysters on the half shell, grilled oysters, and fried smoked oysters. The smoked fried oysters came with a delicious aioli sauce, lite beignet type coating. Oysters were large and fresh. Cocktails yummy. Best service from a sweet friendly Tiara, took best care of us.

Yelp
Babe and i came here today to grab some food before we head out on our tour... Mark was our server and let me just say his energy was just amazing!!!!! The food was soooooo bomb, like i can't even complain.. we were in and out soo quickly but he left a wonderful impact for us to come back. The ambience of the place was also soo soothing as well.. 20/10 of course... the salmon was sooo yummy, as well as the baked red fish with rice soooooo fire!!!! Ohhh and the charred oysters you have to get... the drinks here are soooo fire!!! You have to get the hurricane, it's the original for sure and it's fire!!!!! Yessss shot out to Mark our amazing server!!!!!!

Chris C.

Yelp
The food, drinks, and service were all great! Whenever we're back in New Orleans, we will definitely eat there again.

Yelp
Mr. Willie's (Tall, dark, and handsome with a bald head!!) service was beyond excellent!! The food was delectable, and very fresh. Mr. Willie was very attentive and nurturing. I highly recommend this restaurant!! I'm from Houston, Tx!

Yelp
Great food full of flavor. Service was slow but friendly. Great overall decor and welcoming vibe. Maybe by the convention center but I've been here a few times now and it's definitely a top 5 NOLA spot for me.

Yelp
Came from California, first time in NO, and what a great experience, meeting Mark our experienced waiter and the recommendations he made, from the Parmesan oysters to the Sheepshead fish, you just can't go wrong! Thank you Mark!
google avatar

Tiara M.

Yelp
The ambiance of the restaurant is the first thing you notice. Plenty of bar seating and dining area. The food is pretty good. You have many options to choose from. They have happy hour from 4-6 during the week. Which includes oysters and seafood boils to name a few.
google avatar

Jevon M.

Yelp
When I say run and get that blue card dip I mean it! It was the best dip I ever had! And honeeeeeey, that grilled redfish with the pecan rice was...no words to describe that deliciousness! Our waiter was amazing, he was knowledgeable of the menu and recommended items to us! Sitting out was very nice for our group of 6!

Pixie K.

Yelp
The raw and charbroiled oysters were great. Service at the bar was amazing. Our bartender was friendly and made the best margaritas. The ambiance I was inviting and relaxed.

Yelp
Ventured in with a group of four. We were quickly seated with no reservation. The decor is nice and coastal. Lots of light flooding in. It's a welcomed change of pace from the quarter for the conference crowd. My party had oysters on the half shell, jambalaya, greens, crawfish beignets, and a steak. Food came quickly but there was some confusion on the drink order. There also seemed to be some tension among the wait staff. All and all great dining, will be back.

Michelle C.

Yelp
Such an unfortunate experience. We went in as a party of 8 at 6:45. Not busy plenty of seating. When we first walked in the server made a snarky comment about "party of 25" we sat down he took forever to greet us, came with water and then just lollygagged around at other tables. It already rubbed me wrong with the comment. He wasn't kind had no sense of urgency to take care of us. I'd hate to say i think he was stereotyping us based on our race. But that's what it felt like. Mind you i served for 4 years. I have plenty of experience on what to expect. I felt like he knew it was a table with gratuity and decided to take i His sweet time. He really should rethink his profession. If he wants to have that type of attitude.

Yelp
Stopped by to meet up with a friend, and ended up having an amazing time with a group of strangers. The oysters were PERFECTION. Save yourself a few dollars and skip Drago's and come directly here. Cody was at the Oyster Bar and his service was great! In addition to my half dozen raw oysters, I also took an oyster shooter. It was delicious. I'll def be back during my next trip!
google avatar

Yelp
Busy place. Took a little while to be seated though no line. Mark was our server. I ordered the fried oyster poboy. No disappointment here. An order of fries was my side. Served warm and just right . It's a great place for authentic New Orleans cuisine.

Yelp
Pasta was delicious, place was empty. So good came out fast. Service was ok. Ambiance was quiet and chill at the time.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at AMEX. Wasn't sure if I'd like it but my son and I enjoyed it so much we went back for a second night to celebrate his birthday. When we arrived they couldn't find our reservation, HOWEVER, they graciously seated us anyway and our waitress was phenomenal both nights (we requested her twice). We dined on shrimp, crawfish (the biggest I've seen this early in the season), and chargrilled oysters accompanied by delicious drinks. Reasonably priced in a great atmosphere I'd definitely recommend it as a place to eat. The hostesses, waitresses and staff deserve a round of applause! Keep up the good vibes it's important and this was our first visit!

Yelp
We had such a good time at Grand Isle! Our waiter Mark was excellent and explained everything to us. We started with a Rum Hurricane drink which was pretty good! Not too strong but just right. The shrimp po boy was delish and the shrimp were fried to perfection. The blackend fish was amazing and that crawfish sauce I could drink. Such an excellent time! We look forward to coming back!

Yelp
First time coming to the restaurant and I had to give it 5 stars. Because not only was the food great but free parking in the downtown area for 4 hours. That's unheard of. But let me start by saying the restaurant is very nice, it could be dressy or casual attire. The service was excellent our waitress was very friendly and informative about all the dishes. I had the signature dish Redfish. O my gosh it was delicious not to mention the pecan rice and spinach was a perfect match to the dish. I got my sauce on the side but It was so flavorful I did not even touch the sauce. My sister had a huge soft shell crab was delicious . And my niece had the blackened gulf fish the crawfish sauce and fried potato. We also had the crawfish beignets. The drinks were great too. We had a lemon drop martini and the Bramble and mint lemonade so good ! Also it was my niece birthday and the waitress gave her a free shot . So sweet of her. All I can say we left full and happy. Will definitely be returning soon! Also wish they had a Friday happy hour.

Yelp
Yelp keeps saying I am too wordy so let me keep this short. The best service ever! (Just call me T was our waitress you ROCKED) The food was out of the park fantastic. Just go. It is that good.
google avatar

Laura A.

Yelp
Wow-wow-wow! We loved the service and food so much the first night...we returned for more! You must order the oysters here...then move on to the crawdad beignet (THE BEST!!!), then a grilled Caesar salad finished with a blackened fish on a bed of spinach and some otherworldly mashed potato (was that also deep fried?!). It is the kind of dish you wish was in striking distance of home! This is why you come to a city like New Orleans!

Yelp
Terrible experience. Like terrible. The menu says, "We add a 20% gratuity to all checks. We stand by our prices. NO REFUNDS!" ...proceeds to offer the worst customer service at a restaurant that I've ever experienced. I've always said I love visiting New Orleans because everyone is so nice. Can't say it's universal now. We had a 9 pm reservation. They called us at 8:58 to confirm we were still coming. Arrived at 9:01. Immediately seated. So far, so good. Waiter comes over. Think his name was Jaques or something. He was clearly drunk or high or on something. Took our orders. Drinks took about 20 min to come. Placed the drinks in any order and didn't remember what went where. At 9:51, we just asked them to give us the check for the drinks and forget the food. The "manager" lady comes over with an attitude. No apologies for the wait. No apologies that the drunk waiter GAVE US THE WRONG MENU and half of what we ordered wasn't even being served. No apologizes that we sat there for over 30 minutes with no check-ins and no updates on our meal. Instead, she says, "So do you want to eat it or would you just like me to take it away and off the bill?" How about you offer some customer service? Then she says, "You guys don't have to worry about the drinks. You can just go," as she snatches up the 50-minute delayed food. Tuh...thank you for the drinks. If you're a tourist, NEVER visit here. Maybe just for locals. *Also, the grits had actual corn kernels in it. Asked the inebriated waiter prior to ordering and he ensured that was not the case. That basket of crackers that we devoured whilst starving was great though! Best thing in there. Yum! *I saw a nasty response from the business owner to someone on here, so I'm patiently waiting for that cherry on top.

Yelp
Came here for early dinner and had happy hour crawfish and a beer. Overall it was good service and we got everything we need including hot towels for after we were done. I came back about 30 minutes later and had some raw oysters from Ranaoldo (sp?) and had some GREAT service from him and Lynn (sp?). The customer service from both visits were great! They checked on us frequently which I appreciated. The food: the crawfish was good for the most part and was slightly over cooked bc the tail kept breaking when I tried to get it out. The spices were SO good though! The raw oysters were tasty and fresh. It came with all the toppings in a tray which was nice AND I was asked if I wanted small or big oysters which was a HUGE deal for me. Overall I will definitely be coming back for Renaldo and Lynn for more crawfish. PS Lynn I'm not sure if you'll see this but I left my Jean jacket there. I'll be back tmw to grab it.

Yelp
Smoked fried oysters were so good, I could have eaten an entire dozen. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and great with the side of mac and cheese. Fish was sheephead(?) and I had never heard of it. It came deliciously blackened and not overly seasoned. The potato croquet was nice, but the spinach was a little gritty. Still very good, tho. I had the passion fruit creme brûlée and ate the whole thing myself despite being full. It was light and fruity, perfect for dessert.

Yelp
came here for date night on a whim, sadly the restaurant was reservation only. So what did I do? I went outside and made a reservation on my phone. The downside is that reservations cost $10 per person and does NOT go toward your bill. I'm not upset that I had to pay I'm upset that this information was not disclosed on the website. Secondly there was a 20% service charge added to all checks, again not a problem, but that means it don't matter how many people you have 20% will be added. I personally am not a fan of these hidden fees. I asked a server if they received their gratuity and I was told they only receive a portion. This restaurant milks people for their money and doesn't even give it to the servers foreal. Aside from that thee servers aren't a reflection of the restaurant, they were very kind especially ours. Now for the food... The appetizers were great. I just wish that the "crawfish beignets" were called crawfish balls bc they are more similar to a hush puppy than a beignet. The pasta and the catfish was very mid but it was okay, a The oysters were good. The raspberry margarita was a great size and it was overall pretty good.

Yelp
Here for a work trip and this restaurant was suggested by multiple people. We made reservations via Open Table, and they were able to accommodate us earlier than expected. The ambiance - really nice and cute! We decided to sit outside and eat since the weather was nice and the sun had set. Our server name was Giacomo and he was soooooo sweet!! Very polite and efficient; along with the young lady who assisted in bringing the food as well (unfortunately, I didn't get her name). Also, the young lady Tiffany at the front was nice and welcoming too, she also provided us with food recommendations off the menu. One thing to note, 20% gratuity is automatically included in your bill. Now let's get down to the food : 1. Crawfish Beignets - very good! Had a subtle kick to them too. It was difficult for me to separate calling them beignets and hush puppies the sauce the came with them were good as well. 2. Shrimp JuJu - tasted like bang bang shrimp at home, only the shrimp wasn't as crispy as I expected, but overall good! 3. Crab Dip - delicious! Crab and cheese in every single bite. I ate mine with crackers instead of the bread. 4. Blacked Fish with crawfish tails - SUPERIOR! I didn't even eat all the fish because we were full off appetizers but I HAD to taste it. That fish was DELICIOUS! Cooked to perfection, the potato croquette was sooooo crispy and soft at the same time, and the sauce the crawfish was in?!?? Whhoooooo sooo good! When back in the area, I will definitely be back at this restaurant!

Yelp
I was recommended this restaurant at my hotel! They're usually closed Mondays and Tuesdays, but due to a convention they were open! Thank goodness it was crawfish season. Wait staff was nice, oysters were GIGANTIC, and the wine was good. Looks like a great place for outside dining and relaxing. It is walkable to most of the convention centres and the Cambria and the Renaissance hotel. I'd come here again easily.

Yelp
It was the night before Thanksgiving and all through the quarter ... just kidding! While my dad, husband, and I were visiting New Orleans, the week of Thanksgiving, we did run into the issue of where to dine without a reservation. Luckily for us, a local friend had recommended Grand Isle. We came in fairly late on a Wednesday night for a bite to eat. Our server was extremely kind and attentive. We decided to split the hot crab dip as an appetizer and for my entrée I ordered the seafood and sausage gumbo. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits while my dad ordered the blackened gulf fish and crawfish. Everything had great flavor, and was so fresh! With so many great seafood options in New Orleans, don't sleep on this one.

Mark W.

Yelp
My wife made reservations for dinner and we arrived and my wife saw that our friend who was planning on dining with us was at the bar, she went over to greet her while I spoke to the hostess about our table, she pulled up our reservation and walked me to our table, as I arrived at our table I heard loud screaming coming from a woman behind the bar and realized that the employee was yelling at my friend, and screaming at her to get out of her restaurant, i asked the hostess to speak to the manager and she said the screamer was the manager, realizing that I was in an inhospitable establishment I left, only to happen upon a lovely restaurant where we dropped $300.

Cynthia S.

Yelp
I had a reservation with friends at Grand Isle, my neighborhood favorite (until now) tonight. I got there early, and asked if the manager was available so I could see if they would like to post a flyer about welcoming immigrants to the restaurant, as many others in the area have done. The host took me over to Amanda, the manager, and I politely made my request to see if they would like post the flyer. She started screaming at me to get out! My friends had just arrived, so they didn't know what was going on. But the manager just kept yelling at us to get out. So, of course we did. I understand a business saying "no, thank you", but making such a scene and loudly screaming for me to get out, just for making the request, was horrifying. I've never encountered such anger and negativity anywhere. I will never go back.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Food is mid at best. Plenty of better places to go. Service is just okay again plenty of nicer places to go. Jeff is a douche. This place sucks.

Yelp
TOURIST TRAP: This place serves sub-par food and has sub-par service. My husband and I travel to New Orleans quite a bit, and this was by far the most disappointing food joint we've been to. Granted, there was no wait time-and the establishment is very well kept-it just was not an overall good experience. They automatically charge 20-yes TWENTY percent gratuity to all tickets. With that type of automatic gratuity you would think you'd get tremendous or at minimum great service-right? WRONG! Our waitress didn't bother to stop and ask if we needed refills, if the food was satisfactory, or even up to our standard. It was so bad, We had to get our own condiments. My husband and I both ordered catfish. Granted, it was fresh-but I've had better catfish at gas stations. The charbroiled oysters were, meh. Again, I've had better. Paid almost $100 for food and service that was, meh. Wont be back.

Yelp
We were going to go eat at dragos first but we stopped here instead. We had the smoked fried oysters. I don't eat oysters but I tried them. And they were really good. I actually ate more.Had char grilled ones . Those were good. I didn't try the poached ones but our friends said it was good. The po boy was amazing, Mac and cheese bomb, ribs were bomb. Shrimp ju ju was ok. The collard greens were amazing. Jaybalaya was ok. The service was amazing and the prices were not bad. Definitely need to go back.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Grand Isle along with four of my friends. It is a nice establishment and the staff were very nice. We were seated pretty quickly. Our server Tiffany was awesome! She was very knowledgeable of the menu and continuously made sure we were good throughout. She also made some great recommendations for the table. We started with appetizers which were smoked fried oysters, chargrilled oysters, crawfish beignets and crab dip. So, I am a seafood person so I love seafood with a lil twist. I really enjoyed all of the appetizers we ordered as they were all good and tasty. The smoked fried oysters were the star for me. The smokiness came through nicely and combined with the seasoning, made for a nice app. The chargrilled oysters were big and juicy. They came to the table sizzling! Great choice if you looking for some good oysters. The crawfish beignets were really good as well, just fyi it's not sweet. They weren't stingy with the crawfish and the dough was good as well. My least favorite app was the crab dip. It's wasn't bad, it was just a little too salty which took away from the crab flavor. My main course was the grilled salmon however I subbed the grits for greens with bacon in it. Lol the salmon was cooked well but was little bland. The julienne vegetables did not agree with my taste buds. There was an after taste that didn't click. The greens were good with some sweetness which was recommended by the server. I was also able to eat some of my friend's dish which they ordered the Blackend Baked Gulf Fish with Crawfish Sauce. This dish is really really good and was the star of all the main courses. The fish was cooked really well with nice little crisp on the end. The sauce complemented the potato croquette and fish quite well. Also, appreciated management acknowledging the wait on the food due kitchen mishap. Overall, I definitely would recommend Grand Isle and will return when I'm in the area.

Lorraine S.

Yelp
We arrived on a Wednesday night and were seated right away. Quick service, great atmosphere. We all loved our food. The lump crabmeat pasta was my favorite. My companions were also happy with their meals, shrimp and grits and shrimp poboy. In a city of great food, this was right up there. We would go again.

Yelp
Went in for a easy lunch on a rainy day. Sat at the bar and watched them shuck oysters. Great no frills meal with fresh seafood. A good place to stop if you just want to sit at the bar and have something quick and easy.

Yelp
I popped into Grand Isle on my way to the NOLA convention center with not much time but a lot of hope. I was incredibly impressed! Food was superb. I ordered shrimp and grits and it was the best I've ever had. Service was fast, friendly, accommodating. I was in and out in no time, though I'll admit there was a line as I was leaving and the restaurant was a bit small, so I probably lucked out! Next time I'm in NOLA, I'll be back!

Yelp
Wow!!! I'm a bit of a seafood aficionado and this was one of the BEST seafood dinners I've ever eaten. Had the Fried Seafood platter and it was all amazing but the Crawfish Beignets were shockingly delicious. I also added a side of Stewed Greens with Bacon which might be stewed in crack because that stuff is addictive! I drank the remaining juice out of the dish, it was that good. I dare anyone to order it and not do the same. I highly recommend this restaurant!!!

Yelp
Great service. We had the charbroiled oysters and boiled shrimp at their happy hour. Delicious!

Yelp
I visited Grand Isle for the 1st time in April for my birthday and had a great experience. I decided to visit again in May for my grandmother's birthday. Both visits, the waitresses were very helpful. They took their time explaining the menu to my family and answered any questions we had. While we were there, we also enjoyed the music they played softly in the background. The first time I went I had the blackened gulf fish and crawfish tails. The second time I went I had the crawfish pasta. The pasta had way more crawfish in it than I expected! They definitely put more than most restaurants. I also had a lemon drop, which was pretty good. On top of the good food, servers, and music, we were able to get free parking! If you park at Harrah's casino and eat at this place they will validate your ticket which is a really nice bonus. I'm mad I didn't find out about this place sooner. Will be back to try more dishes!

Yelp
It's so strange that I've been in this area 100 million times and never noticed this restaurant! I ended up coming here for my dad's birthday one Friday night. I started with a prickly pear margarita and it was so big and strong! 10/10! For appetizers we tried the crawfish beignets, chargrilled oysters, and sweet heat wings. Crawfish beignets were okay, the sweet heat wings had mint on them which I was not a fan of at all, and the chargrilled oysters were bomb! I was going back and forth with deciding on an entree but I picked the shrimp caminada poboy because it said it was the winner of the poboy fest. 0/10 recommend. It was absolutely terrible. I tried some of the food my family got which was better. The Creole crawfish pasta was actually really tasty. The shrimp and grits was just okay. They don't do anything for birthdays here but my waitress was able to find one candle for us. We ordered bread pudding and brownie for dessert and both were underwhelming. But, I actually would come back here because even though some things weren't the best, some things were really good

Yelp
Grand Isle was recommended by the concierge at my hotel and we really enjoyed it. Plenty of space, the tables weren't crowded together, and the staff were very kind and welcoming. We just made it for happy hour and got the head on boiled shrimp which is normally $14 but only $8 during happy hour. It was delicious. We also had the crawfish beignets which were melt in your mouth fabulous. We tried the award winning Asian shrimp po boy, and it was good, but the bread was a bit soggy. I would recommend putting it on a nice crisp baguette. The burger was quite good though the fries were bland. And the ice box lemon cake was very good for dessert, the New Orleans version of key lime pie.
