We started this week's impromptu vacation in Las Vegas's The Palazzo at The Venetian and ate breakfast at the Grand Lux Cafe since we had to wait for our suite's availability. Our online pre-check-in estimated room availability at 11:00 a.m., but we arrived at the resort by 8:30 a.m., and the Grand Lux Cafe was convenient and open.
Three couples were ahead of us in line at the hostess' desk. However, it didn't take longer than 10 minutes for the hostess to escort us to a table. We had never eaten at this restaurant, although we frequently passed by in the casino.
Our friendly server, Karen G, had an effervescent smile and personality. After we told her we had just arrived from the airport and felt dehydrated and sleepy, she brought us cups of delicious hot coffee and huge glasses of iced water. We placed our breakfast orders, and within twenty minutes, Karen returned to deliver our meals.
My husband ordered a traditional American breakfast with two sunnyside-up eggs, crisp bacon, and hash browns. He also received two slices of lightly toasted whole wheat bread. He asked for and enjoyed the crispness of the bacon and hash browns. $17.95
I ordered the Grand Lux Cafe French Toast with strawberries after seeing another server delivering an order of the French Toast to a nearby table. I was impressed by the buttery and crispy/crunchy griddled brioche slices. The brioche slices were tender and had a soft and rich egg-cream custard interior. I could cut into each slice with my fork, and the brioche slices did not smash or get gummy. The fresh strawberry slices added a hint of natural sweetness, and I didn't need to use the maple-butter syrup. $19.95
We were happy with our coffees and delicious, well-prepared breakfasts. This clean, comfortable, easy-on-the-eyes restaurant was consistently crowded, and Karen never rushed us. When we left, a line of hungry guests stood out from the doorway.
