I came in with my girlfriend for dinner at 8pm on a Thursday night. First impression was it's a pretty small space for a hot pot restaurant - 6 tables, but we nabbed the last open table. Tables had individual or shared tabletop heating elements.
This used to be a Sushi Burrito restaurant. It's still the same owners and they actually still serve some of their burritos here as well. From the hot pot menu, you select a beef broth (original, spicy or half and half). Then you select from an assortment of meats, an assortment vegetables, noodles, and seafood to cook into your hot pot.
We ordered the combination meat, which comes with chef's choice of 2 meats, enoki mushrooms, "Asian style noodle", Mongolian dumplings (which my Mongolian girlfriend assured me were pretty authentic and handmade), and bok choy. The broth comes out a bit bland, but it gains flavor as you cook in all of your other ingredients. You also get some dipping sauces on the side. Everything was delicious and the ingredients seemed very good quality. We were definitely full, and probably could've been satisfied with just 2 orders of meat. Oh, BYOB.
Service was acceptable and the one server taking care of all the tables did the best she could to keep up. They could definitely benefit from an extra set of hands though.
At about $40 + tip, it does seem a bit pricier than I'm used to for hot pot from other restaurants in Chinatown. But for being the only hot pot restaurant that I know of in Lakeview, I'm satisfied and it's welcome addition.
