"One of the oldest sports bars on this list, Grand Oaks opened in 1988 and retains an old school, locals’ hangout vibe. While you can certainly grab a pint and a burger here, this is also the only sports bar on this list where you can order escargot and a ribeye steak while you watch the game." - Janelle Bitker

Google
Great place to grab a drink, some good food, and watch a game! Staff n owner are awesome!

Renetta Demerson

Google
I gave this place 3 stars only because it was a little too quiet. I wanted some music to create a livelier atmosphere. (Nothing too loud) It was extremely clean and plenty TVs for watching sports. Food needs a tad bit more flavor.

Kathleen Crawford

Google
Mostly a sports bar atmosphere but the dinner menu is delicious. There's a back room for larger parties if you want to have a quieter party. I was with a group of 14 celebrating a family birthday including ages 11-85. Everyone inc vegetarian and gluten free dietary restrictions found good options and raved about the food!

Google
Very chill spot to watch the game. Great for NFL or NBA. Their fried foods are solid and always fresh. Good prices all around. Glad this is in my neighborhood.

Rhonda Kay

Google
Great atmosphere for watching the Warriors game. Pizza is greasy and tasty. Friendly crowd.

Came here on a Saturday night. The staff here is just wonderful. Stephanie the bartender is absolutely the nicest girl. They always have a good drink special going on and the crowd is always friendly. Grand Oaks is definitely the place to watch football. They draw in a great crowd. However, during busy times parking can be a bit hard to find but there is a parking lot just a block away that charges $5. However, on all the other nights I was always able to find close parking. Gotta check it out one time if you are in the area. Very nice staff and people.

Donald Cooper

Google
A one-of-a-kind establishment. This sports bar features great food and friendly service. It's a congenial spot to enjoy tasty eats and drinks while watching whatever sport you're a fan of. Beware, though: if you're coming to watch any big game, come early to get good seating. On those occasions the place gets packed.

Niko Top Notch

Google
This was a unique find recommend by a friend. A sports bar that opens at 10am on a Sunday morning! The place was packed with true NFL fans. They offer breakfast, salad, pizza, fries and sandwiches. The food was good and came out piping hot. Plus they make a decent Bloody Mary

Ultima M.

Yelp
This is a cool local gem to come and hang out at and catch a game Vibes are cool, no drama Tons of TVs posted up Lots of seating available Menu has good options and prices are reasonable Food is good Service is friendly Parking is street parking only and all of the street parking is metered

Yelp
A family friend was recently promoted to lieutenant colonel in the Air Force. To celebrate this great achievement, a party was held in his honor on 08/28/2022 at Grand Oaks Restaurant & Sports Lounge. At first, I was like, why a sports bar? As it turned out, he's a regular and wanted to have the party here. Question answered. When my brother and I arrived at the venue, the staff was setting up the food, which was served buffet style. They were very friendly and welcoming. The interior had an old school, neighborhood bar feel. It totally reminded me of the TV show "Cheers". The buffet spread was incredible. Except for the whole roast pig, everything was made in house. The baked salmon, roast sirloin of beef, prime rib beef stew, ribs, and chicken were all cooked nicely and delicious. During the middle of the party, one of the owners busted out the karaoke machine and the party went from good to great! A wonderful time was had by everyone. Great friends, chill vibe, and delicious food. What else do you need for a great party? IMHO, Grand Oaks did a great job. I look forward to come back and try their other dishes. 5 stars. BONUS MATERIAL: - Street parking only. - A certain Bay Area celeb hangs out here. I saw her that day.

Marcos R.

Yelp
Very chill spot to hang out, watch a game, and meet good people. Owners are very friendly and welcoming, bartenders are attentive and always willing to listen n chat. Food is surprisingly delicious., not what you'd expect from a sports bar. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to my next visit.

Nita B.

Yelp
This old school place has two levels. Plenty of room. Today I sat on the entry level bc it was not crowded. Service is excellent. The background music is my fav. Oldies and they even played LSOB. The burger is hella big and the tap was good. Hella TVs for sports watching. And a private outdoor smoking section with plants! This is one of my spots for sure.

Michael T.

Yelp
Solid for a sports bar to drink some beer and eat some food. It's convenient and right by my apartment. I come here often a service is good and people are nice.

Frank L.

Yelp
Two friends and I patronized Grand Oaks for a playoff game on 1/20/24. We got there at just after 5pm, right before the game commenced. The environment was already loud but that was to be expected. We sat at a table and given how slammed the servers were, I just ordered at the bar and that was fine. Watching the game itself was easy given the dozen screens situated around the room so regardless of where one sat, watching was not an issue. The deep fried prawns arrived first. Gross. Fishy taste and low quality. Fortunately, I did not fall ill later in the evening. The pizza was hideous too. Cheap ingredients, greasy cheese and toppings that slid off the slice onto the paper plate. I refused to eat it. My friends kept saying they've had worse but that didn't convince me to give the pie a second chance. I learned later that my beer only cost $6, good to know. So, all in all, it's a dive sports bar with ample televisions and inexpensive beer. I noticed there were burgers on the menu so maybe one day I'll return and have a beer and burger.

Alfredo R.

Yelp
Sporrrtttsss! Best place in the neighborhood to catch a game. They have about 300 tvs to chose from. So on those days when you can't decide between the Warriors , Raiders or Niners swing by and watch them all. The staff is amazing. The second you walk in they make you feel like you're watching a game in your own living room. Ari is the best. Make sure you're here on a night that she is. Weekends I believe. She's the friendliest, awesomest person on the planet. Always mind blowing to watch her tend the bar and take care of a full dining room on big game days. Feels like she's cloned herself sometimes! Oh ya and the food! Get all those game day treats to make you feel like you're tailgating Burgers, wings, steak and of course pizzzaaaaaaa

Andrea f.

Yelp
Great atmosphere, spacious with lots of televisions, very cozy, friendly and amazing service, food is fantastic, fair price, I will definitely come back.

Nina L.

Yelp
Giving this local spot a 5 for nostalgia and just a great neighborhood sports bar with a TV covering every wall. I come here with family and friends to watch local games. If they don't have your game up on a TV, they'll gladly change the channel for you. Pitchers are a great deal, you get about 4 glasses out of a pitcher for $20. Good beer on tap too. Food's pretty good too, nothing fancy but your usual sports bar fare. Everything always comes out piping hot and fresh out of the fryer. Their garlic fries with fresh garlic is my go to. Staff are super friendly and attentive. Has a real local and family run, small business feel. Come down to the Grand Oaks to watch your favorite Bay Area team. Share a beer and some food with friends and family.

Christopher S.

Yelp
Grand Oaks is a great sports bar with TVs for any game you want to watch. A bonus is they serve a range of tasty food. The owners and bartenders have created an environment where everyone is welcome and feels like a regular.

Al H.

Yelp
Always a great place to watch your favorite Bay Area team play while enjoying a good meal! I like a good pizza or burger along with a beer on tap. Or enjoy one of their daily specials. This family run place has been a part of this neighborhood for a long time. See you at the Grand Oaks!

Kari G.

Yelp
Five stars always love to come watch the games and chat with the regulars. I love the at home feel but especially look forward to seeing Ariel's bright smile behind the bar. She is so charming and really knows how to make everyone feel happy and taken care of. Definitely worth coming back again and again

Anh-Dao T.

Yelp
It's your standard neighborhood sports bar. Nothing fancy, nothing special but good, friendly service and wide screens lined up on every wall. It's the end of September so that meant football and baseball was on. But wait...is that also Big Bang Theory playing by the door? Why yes it IS one of my favorite shows playing in a sports bar. (#nerdalert) Drafts are $5 and that's not even happy hour prices. Selection included the usual beers on tap (Stellllllla, Blue Moon, Guinness) and also Lagunitas and Trumer. Menu included all the fried stuff - fries, fried shrimp, fried chicken wangs, as well as actual dinner entrees. They have an Early Bird Special until 7:30PM on those entrees that knock off a few bucks. All in all, this is a reliable place to go and wind down for the day while catching a game. I hear it gets crowded during Warriors games but I suppose the A's just don't draw the same kind of crowds. All good - at least I know I'll always have a seat!

Leah T.

Yelp
Food is meh, beer is IPA oriented and meh, but ...the owners and staff super nice, crowd is awesome, and it's a super neighborhood sports bar. It is loud, with large HD TVs everywhere.. no bad seat in the house. At the end of the NBA playoffs, when the Warriors win, they crank up the music. Folks are dancing and happy. They put in ceiling fans since COVID, but other than that, it's about as crowded and loud as before. No one hassles you if you mask up between bites and sips. Seriously, this is my favorite place to watch a game. Don't come, don't order the steak, and don't take the seats my friends and I come early to get. With a beautiful cross section of Oakland showing up (both age and race) and getting along, we don't want the secret to get out.

Katrina L.

Yelp
Grand Oak Grill and Bar are very nice and cozy place . People are so friendly(customers and employees) like tv show cheers everyone know everyone . The brothers Kenny and Roger , the owner and their employees are so nice. They have really good nice TVs screen. It's nice to come there after work and relax. If you happen in Oakland stop by check them out.

Julia Y.

Yelp
This place is by far one of the worst so called sports bars I've ever been too. The food was awful, nasty chicken wings, incomplete salad and pizza was tasteless. Limited beer on tap, your a sports bar! The so called waitress was horrible no rounding the room asking if we wanted water or anything, just kept her lazy self behind the bar counter on her phone doing nothing. Never again!

Victor G.

Yelp
Grand Oaks Restaurant also calls itself a Sports Lounge. questionable in that space is so small, draft beer selection only 7 and no HH menu. only early bird specials (5-7:30). eats: fillet of sole meuniere (14.95) -sole tender, tasted fresh not frozen. -small salad comes with it. ok fresh. -sole used in fish & chip also, with panko crumbs (overkill). brew: guinness (5) -ok, price constant from opening to closing. footnotes: -appetitzers closest item to HH items ($10 each). -entrees, pizza, also available. -parking not so great around here.

Doris J.

Yelp
Sadly, Not what it use to be. Understandable with COVID and everything. They reduced their menu selections. We use to love their early bird dinner menu. Not only was it reasonably priced but also well prepared. It's become more of a sports bar atmosphere.

Jin C.

Yelp
Great times here!!! Boys and I had his birthday party here and I couldn't be more satisfied with the service and quality of food. The area in the back was cozy but fit a decent amount of people and the outdoor area was perfect for a a beer pong set up. 10/10 would reserve again.

Sabrina H.

Yelp
Great neighborhood place to hang out to catch a game and grab a beer on tap or just to unwind after work. Nice and friendly family owned spot with good pizza (prawn scampi my fav) and burgers. Prices are very reasonable. Their specials are great too so you should come back to try them out.

Ed U.

Yelp
Grand Oaks is usually the kind of watering hole I avoid like the plague because it's filled with beer-guzzling guys who have no volume control on their Neanderthal howls provoked by any indication of a score on the big-screen. And there are twelve big-screen TVs that cover the perimeter of the front room. It's a testosterone-filled wet dream that just needs Barcaloungers and TV trays to complete the picture. And yet for all my reservations, sure enough, they serve some awfully good comfort food for reasonable prices here. The secret is to come when there aren't any big games on. Good luck with that, although we were lucky this past Thursday around 8:30PM. Just a handful of loudish sluggos at the bar. I was picking up Jamie W. at the Oakland Airport and wondering where in Oakland we could get a quick dinner. I recalled an episode of "Check, Please! Bay Area" last year where the three guests waxed enthusiastically about the food at an Oakland sports bar, and this was the place. It's on a particularly quiet stretch of Grand Avenue on the way to Piedmont, so parking was a cinch. The building has all the charm of a converted dental office from the outside, and the painted sign looks quite worn. There's a dining room in the back and also a patio, but we apparently came too late to be seated back there. We were able to sit at a table away from the bar, so the noise wasn't too bad. We started with the $7.95 Buffalo Chicken Wings, which were heavily covered in hot sauce (see photo). No complaints on the flavor but very, very messy. Jamie decided to order the $14.95 Fish and Chips, an abundant portion with three large fillets covering a mound of fries and even a side of grilled vegetables to boot (see photo). He would have preferred more seasoning, but a splooge of malt vinegar helps quite a bit. I had no complaints about the $17.95 Ribeye Steak, ten ounces and cooked medium rare. Very tender and moist. Wish I could say the same about the baked potato which tasted like it was sitting in a warming tray for too long. But I covered it in the sour cream to compensate, and I also got the grilled vegetables on the side (see photo). Also helpful was the warm wheatberry bread that came with two slabs of butter. We also both got salads as starters, so we were not lacking for nourishment (see photos). We'll definitely come back if only to try the dining room experience and maybe the prime rib they serve on the weekend. In the meantime uhh...go A's! FOOD - 4 stars...that steak was terrific, seems like a comfort food find in the East Bay AMBIANCE - 3 stars...well, how about those Knicks? SERVICE - 4 stars...nice server TOTAL - 4 stars...certainly is what it is and better food than you would expect to be served here

Yelp
I drive down Grand Avenue pretty frequently and never even gave this place a glance until I saw Grand Oaks on Check Please Bay Area. Sports Bar w/ escargot?!? Prices are reasonable with 10oz steaks for $18 and an Early Bird menu that goes from 5PM - 7:30PM which saves you $2-3 on about a dozen items. Priciest item is Surf & Turf or Double Lobster Tails for $30. Seems like a lot of regulars with most tables getting a hug and chit-chatting with the wait-staff. I got the Fish & Chips off the Early Bird for $12.95 (regularly $14.95) and you get a choice of soup or salad, but first comes some tasty warm bread and butter (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/8pFhIc5Rv-nhedtJFrdr3A?select=K4ywLSJV-q1UwRSYGrlILg). Three big pieces of fish came out on a pile of fries with some tartar sauce and grilled veggies (http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/8pFhIc5Rv-nhedtJFrdr3A?select=9BbfNXYKHuFhrmCl8MG04g). The fish was moist & flakey, but the breading was underseasoned. Some salt and a liberal application of malt vinegar helped with that. Pretty good crispy fries. I didn't know about the back dining room until I went to the bathroom. There are a decent number of tables in the bar area so there was no one eating back there at 7PM mid-week. 3.5 stars for the food. Rounding up for the friendly service.

Noelle H.

Yelp
Great place to watch the game! I was with a group and we were upstairs. SO MANY TVs!! Literally everywhere you look there's a big screen! We ordered a pizza, fried wings, and garlic fries to snack on during the game. The garlic fries were standard but the wings were good! Definitely get them! Pizza was okay. If you're looking for a place to watch some sports, Grand Oaks is it!

Nick C.

Yelp
Been here a few times now and each time is a great experience. The food is good and the prices aren't bad at all. I do wish that they had more TVs and some fans because during game days it gets pretty hot and stuffy in there. The food comes out out pretty fast . Even when they are understaffed.

Eve K.

Yelp
Local spot with a heavy focus on sports and drink. 3.5 stars Food: 3, Service: 4, Atmosphere: 4 Open table-able: no, Kids menu: no Cost to worth it rating: 3 (beers $4, wings $8) Return worthiness: sure when a game is on Highlights: - TVs: plenty on every wall so no matter where you sit you can see the game - Homey neighborhood bar: made me feel like I was visiting my sister in Wisconsin watching the local team - Family friendly: other kids were there with their parents watching the Warriors game - Service: waitress comes around to the tables and never had to wait too long for a drink - Good seating: booths and tables Lowlights: - Not many appetizers apart from wings and fries. I could've went for some mozarella sticks, potato skins, or nachos. Food isn't anything special but does fine for standard bar food Good no frills spot to grab a drink and watch the games

Priscilla C.

Yelp
Best prime rib I've ever had , no need for salt and pepper nor sauces , I will be back for more

Bryant L.

Yelp
You wouldnt expect it but this bar has amazing service! Well priced and great spot to watch sports. Dare i say the best bar in all of oakland??? This place has been open since 1988 wowza.

Elka J.

Yelp
Went to Grand Oak with friends, a good time. Just remember to bring cash because the atm machine maybe broke/out and you may have to go to the Safeway next door in the rain to get cash to pay your bill. FYI

Joanna B.

Yelp
Sports! Come dressed to watch and root for your team. You'll come to notice that everyone is. Come ready to discuss your team and one of the games on screen. This is not a restaurant for foodies. This is a restaurant for sports fans. If you are seeking artisinal, locovore fare then perhaps you should just come for spirits and beer. I suggest bringing a pal or two on your first visit. Once the staff recognizes you then you're family and can saunter on in solo. Oh, and also... karaoké! Once the big games are over this becomes a late night possibility.

Brian S.

Yelp
OMG..this place is delicious!! The quality of of food is superb and the early bird prices are just as great!! Highly recommend..will be back!! Early bird special $19.85 rib eye steak 12oz. includes soup or salad..

Earlene C.

Yelp
We had so much fun here last Saturday night! We came to celebrate a birthday. We ordered a few pitchers & appetizers and just hung out. Service was very attentive! We were checked up on very often. This is definitely a sports bar. There are a dozen TV's to watch every game and sport that happens to be playing. We watched the Warrior game and once it was over, they turned on the Karaoke! We sang the night away. Very fun! They have a large selection of songs, I like that their machine is modern, its a computer that you type in whatever song or artist into the search field. This seems to be a popular local spot and I can see why.

Scott L.

Yelp
Waking up at 6pm on a Saturday evening from a looooong night and morning of partying in the City, I went to Grand Oaks to meet my girl and her friends. I was STARVING! My stomach was inverted and I looked anorexic! I asked my girl what was the BEST thing Grand Oak's had to offer and she mentioned the Prime Rib. Without hesitation when Jessie (cute bartender) asked for my drink order, I blurted out "PRIME RIB MEDIUM RARE" please without even listening to her question. After looking like a fool in front of her friends, I retracted that statement and asked for a beer, THEN my Prime Rib medium rare. As the food arrived, I didn't even have a chance to take a picture of the THICK slice of juicy, tender, plump, and tasty prime rib. I just devoured half just to satisfy my appetite and then I took a snap shot. For $23.95, served only Fridays and Saturdays, it was a DAMN good deal. The rib was at least 16-18oz and came with mashed potatoes and broccoli. We also order a garlic shrimp scampi pizza, garlic fries, and garlic escargot for the table. Everything was FABULOUS for the exception of garlic stench coming out of pores and kissing my girl with garlic. Overall, a great dining experience with good company, good food, great ambiance, and REASONABLE pricing. I will definitely be back again for the food and drinks.

Yelp
Yes, I was the guy that got this place into Check Please! Bay Area. I was introduced to this place many years ago and loved it ever since. True, that the outside of this place looks like it needs some work, but I think that adds charm to the place and I hope they don't change it. I like those places that surprises you when you enter, see how it's really focused for the customer, and how great the food are. The place have so much big screen TV that you'll suffer from neck sprains by the time you're done. You can watch almost any team, any sport, or any shows at any one time. Same goes for the upstairs, which has the same amount of screens and a lot more spacious. There's also a pool and Foosball table. The food is above average for a sports bar. C'mon, what sports bar serves escargot and they're soooo damn good. On top of the escargot, my favorite is the shrimp scampi pizza. O make sure you don't have the server take away the escargot when you're done with the snail meat. Use the crust of the pizza or ask for bread to sop up the garlic butter; which by the way, they bake their own bread! The other menu items are extraordinary. The steaks are cooked to the way you like it; as the other guest at Check Please! stated, that the cook(s) pays special attention to your steak until it is served. My goddaughter had her first communion reception here and the buffet items were also spectacular. You would think that quality would go down for buffet items but we finished it all. The pork chops were so moist, their salmon dish was awesome, the steamed vegetables were well seasoned, and I was stuffed throughout the party. They also have a really cool Karaoke system. Yes being Filipino, it is mandatory and we are obligated to karaoke. Both upstairs and downstairs have a setup. They have several wireless microphones, so you don't have to leave your seat and the music are pretty much up to date. If you're already tired of Adele's Chasing Pavements, then you'll love it again when your friend sings it. The karaoke is usually busted out later in the night, or by requests... if the other patrons don't mind and if you are daring enough to show off your Mariah Carey octave ranges. The staff at the place are also very friendly. The owners, Ken and Roger, are just some of the friendliest people you'll ever meet. The waitresses and bartenders... HOTTT!!! OK, I'll probably get in trouble by stating that and they'll probably nag me who I'm talking about, since I've befriended most of them... I'll say all of them. They're all very funny, friendly, attentive and also some of the nicest and now busiest people you'll ever meet. I strongly recommend that you come here to watch your games, have some suds, and great food. If you feel like having a good dinner, you can't go wrong! If you're looking for just good company.... they have the nicest patrons and regulars that can get you talking about the neighborhood, politics, or just bullshit your way throughout the night. Oh, and you can probably find someone in the crowd or from one of the staff to have a duet with. CHEERS!!!

Yelp
I sometimes get leery walking around Oakland because of it's negative media portrayal. But living in fear is not living at all. Who wants to be Nicholas Cage in the Croods? So I heard there's this great place on Grand Ave called Grand Oaks. I park 2 blocks away near the Safeway and walk towards the establishment. Nothing is out of the ordinary so this is probably one of the safer areas of Oakland. My party of 10 (yes it's a large party) were seated all the way in the back. Man, this room is a sport lovers dream. With a dozen large tvs (52" each?), you can literally watch every sport broadcasting in the USA. The front of the restaurant has your usual tables and bar. As for the food, the pizza is a good choice if you want to share. It's nothing special like a pizza establishment but if you drink it with beer (like a Fat Tire), it's still pretty good. The show stealer is the Grand Oaks Steak. I almost mistaken this place for a steakhouse since this steak is beautifully grilled to perfection with a side of mash potatoes and veggies. Medium rare they do really well.

Michelle K.

Yelp
Boot and Shoe is closed on Mondays (??) so my friend suggested Grand Oaks Restaurant and Sports Lounge as she had seen it featured on "Check, Please", a KQED show that features bay area eats. As soon as we walked in, the smell of garlic immediately got me excited. But alas, this time, I was disappointed. The good: 1. Cold, completely full ketchup brought to our table by the waitress. 2. The sesame bun on the burger was oddly uber delicious. 3. I had a bite of my friend's fish burger. A little lacking on the tarter sauce, but overall the fish was crispy on the outside and delicious on the inside. Definitely recommend! The bad: 1. Game night, so no restaurant menu (which is what we had come for--see aforementioned note about "Check, Please."). 2. The burger wasn't too bad, but definitely bar food--don't think about getting anything rarer than a medium cooked burger. Wilted lettuce, but nice and fresh tomatoes and onions. 3. I asked for garlic fries instead of regular fries. The waitress seemed nice, but a little air-headed as she forgot this part of my order and also had to ask me twice how I wanted my burger cooked. I would recommend that she bring a notepad to enhance the dining experience. Granted, this was a sports lounge on a game night (final four and a Giants game), but still. I had been so anticipating the garlic fries! 4. Cheap-ish alcohol selection based on the $4 blue moon. Overall, I would give Grand Oaks a chance to redeem itself, but as of now, it's nothing spectacular. If I come back, I anticipate bumping up the rating to 3 stars; 4 stars if they really wow me with their non bar food.

Jennie P.

Yelp
This is a nice spot to just CHILL, have a few drinks, watch a game, and eat. The hot wings are good and you HAVE TO TRY THE ESCARGOTS! It's drenched in this gooey sauce that's sooooo good.. (I even dipped the chicken wing in it!) We also ordered a pizza and it was OK - it's just pizza. But chicken wings and escargots are a MUST.

Mark M.

Yelp
This was more a night in The Twilight Zone than a night at a sports bar. When we first walked in we were immediately met by a middle aged man in a trench coat with two menus ushering, no herding, us to a long table that immediately reminded me of my high school cafeteria. The 1/2 dozen or so older dudes at the neighboring table gave us the group stink eye as if we were invading their space, even though the aforementioned high school table had about 20 open seats. It took me awhile to determine that Mr. Trench Coat is some kind of manager or maybe the owner. His sole contribution to productivity was to glare at the poor young woman who was responsible for taking all orders, tending bar, and cashing out the entire place. Maybe if he could consider losing the inappropriate-for-indoors outerwear and roll up his sleeves it might not have taken 15 minutes to get from menu to placing an order. But I digress... Beers on tap are the usual suspects - Blue Moon, Fat Tire, Lagunitas, yada yada but on the plus side $16 for a pitcher is downright charitable. The Mrs. and I decided to play it safe and each order a simple burger, which turned out to be another reminisince of the high school lunch room. Once we wolfed these down we looked at each other and simultaneously realized that Miss "I have to do everything while Mr Big Shot just stares at me" was never going to bring our check so the Mrs. went up to the bar, credit card in hand, to procure our escape. Giving a second star for having plenty of TVs on every wall, enough to have The Sharks, The Warriors and the NCAA all on. One final thought - what kind of sports bar closes at 9:45 on Friday and Saturday nights? Purely academic for me as I won't return.

Heliana M.

Yelp
This place!!! We were looking last minute for a sports bar to watch the Euro 2016 soccer final Portugal vs France on a big screen and this was one of the closest locations so we went there. We both had a draft beer ($5 each) IPA and Pilsner and shared garlic fries while watching the game. It was great really, will be back to this place to try more of their food and watch sport games.

Jordan S.

Yelp
Loved this spot. Came here to watch the Warriors game and there are TV's all over the place so no matter where you sat you were in view of the game. The place looks a little rugged on the outside but don't let that fool you. The service was great, the food was great (wings and garlic fries), and the $14 pitchers will keep me coming back.

Hello M.

Yelp
Seriously, need to be open minded out this place! It's like a hidden Gem in Oakland...like the Lake Shore Movie Theater. This place is old skoo, literally a restaurant in a HOUSE! Feels so homey! Inside there are TONS Of T.V. Great for watching games. Full bar plus food. Of course when it get's really crowded on some of the game nights...BE PATIENT LIKE ANY OTHER PLACE during popular game night (i know...duh). This place really reminds me of the Old School Lake Shore Movie Theater, but in a Old School Homey Sports Lounge setting.

Yelp
Great place to watch "the game" - friendly service, welcome to everyone, nice people to cheer with or against. Like home.

Yelp
Came here last night with a few friends to watch the A's game. There were plenty of TVs to watch the game on. The beers were really cheap ($4!!!) and the food was the best surprise - the steaks were actually really good! My friend and I couldn't decide what to get so we split the alfredo and grand oaks steak. The steak was rather good (the alfredo was just fine). All our friends also got steaks and they seemed to like them as well. Plus the service was really good too! Definitely a good place to watch a game and kick back with friends!

Yelp
If you're like me you've walked or driven by this place more than a handful of times and thought, "hey maybe I should go in..." well, I finally came in, and 30 minutes after arriving (and almost all of the employees in this place walking right by my table and avoiding eye contact) I actually put in an order and got a steak and eggs that was pretty decent for the price! $19.95. I would have talked to the manager about the service, but I'm pretty sure he was one of the ones just doing his damnedest to not serve my table. That being said, when you don't feel like making your own dinner or even heating up some TV dinner from Trader Joe's, this is A-OK.

Yelp
Great laid back sports bar with a ton of nice big TV's (you can view a game from literally anywhere in the bar). Food is also solid and there is a good selection of drinks. At night, there's also karaoke sometimes which is always a lot of fun. Great place to watch a game, host an event, or just catch up with friends.

Yelp
Came here and sat in the back room with some family. It's actually a kid-friendly place since my cousins brought their toddlers. I had the Grand Oaks ribeye. I liked how flavorful it was from being marinaded and the caramelized onions on top. The veggies were flavorful with garlic salt all over them, but the mashed potatoes were not so good. The ribeye was on the thinner side, but cooked well. It came with a cup of clam chowder which wasn't too bad. I had a slice of a cheese pizza which was surprisingly pretty good! It was very cheesy, which I liked and the crust was nice and crispy. The kids had chicken nuggets, which I was lucky enough to grab one. The chicken nuggets weren't too bad as well. The crispy and crunchy texture was good. The complimentary bread they served us was also surprisingly good. It was warm and oh so soft! Everyone else was happy with their dinners, so the food isn't too bad here! Looks like It's worth the price, especially during early bird dinner. Our waitress seemed a bit disorderly and definitely not dressed for the part. She was nice, but was writing our orders down wrong so when she repeated it back to us, we had to correct her. It's not like we were talking so fast that she didn't have time to get it right. We came here during early-bird dinner special, so it was great to get a deal on the food! The owner also came back and made sure we were doing okay, which was very nice. This place seems like a cool spot to hangout. Parking can get a bit tricky especially nights/weekends, so just be aware of that. There's plenty of seating and even good for larger parties if you can get a table in time.

Yelp
THE DISCOVERY: Yelp!! Read a few reviews from my fellow yelpers. THE VIBE: Sports Bar with above average sports food THE DECOR: From the outside the building is small and uninviting, open and the door, your welcomed with a friendly smile from the bar tender. The full bar sits in the right corner, booths are set along the wall to the left, standard height tables in the center, as well as tall tables dividing the space. But no matter where you sit you WILL see a 54" HD television with multiple stations all viewing different games. THE SERVICE: Excellent service! Ro and Denise are bartenders that rock! Ro was super friendly will suggestions to try her specialty. Ro and Denise served as the bartender and waiter making sure to take order for drinks and food. Denise was very sweet too great sense of humor just tell her what you want! THE GOOD: 1. Cum shot: an equally nutty mix (no pun intended) of creamy sweetness and salty goodness! For ladies you order it as a Cum Shot and for the fellas its a Gush Shot 2. Shrimp Pizza: not bad for bar food, crust doughy but firm. Shrimp cooked perfectly although they put too much cheese on it for me. 3. Pepperoni Pizza: again still bar food. but ordered less cheese, not bad. 4. The Karaoke is awesome! A wide selection of 80's songs, not sure about other genres as I sing 80s style. But they did have some Mary, Micheal, RUN DMC, Katy Perry so the top 20. THE BAD: No Ciroc Vodka :( Karaoke only on Fridays OVERALL: I love this place for its friendly bartenders simple decent bar menu and the shots of cum, yum yum!

Yelp
I was here with my family the other week. We had 6 adults and 4 kids. We were outside for 10 minutes, waiting for them to open at 5pm. As soon as they opened their doors, they asked if we had reservations, which we didn't. With that response, I was afraid we needed reservations, but they sat us immediately. The service was very friendly and the food was delicious. Most of us ordered the ribeye dish. I asked them what the plate comes with, and they said it came with vegetables and fries. We didn't want fries with our steak and asked if they had any other sides we could substitute with. They offered more vegetables or rice, and we all chose rice. The food came out in a timely manner, and everything on our plates were oh so good. The steak was great and cooked perfectly, as ordered (a rarity with steaks, most places over cook). I still think about the vegetables, best vegetables I've had at a restaurant of this kind. Rice was delicious, as well. Overall, great food, great prices, friendly service. I'm looking forward to coming back to Oakland just so I can dine here. Thanks for a great experience, Grand Oaks!!! Keep it up! :-)

Yelp
I absolutely love going to the spot and getting a ribeye. It always comes with the freshest crispiest fries and the best grilled vegetables. The staff there is very friendly and helpful and there's always a good crowd. I love the amount of TVs available so whatever game is on it doesnt matter where I turn my head, I can see it. I'm going to go there again tonight for another steak!

Yelp
I thought my steak was over cooked and over priced. Portions are nice though. Ambiance could use a little work. Service was just so-so. I may give it another shot because friends like it.
