DO NOT COME HERE BEFORE A CONCERT! The staff was overwhelmed and cannot handle a crowd. Came here before the Pantera concert waited an hour for the pb&j burger and they served me and everyone at the table a charred hockey puck. You can smell the burnt! Never again.

Google
We stopped for some food and a few beers before the Disturbed concert! The food was very good and they had a great selection of beer! Our bartender was friendly. She had a good sense of humor!!

Google
So the pizza was fantastic, but the appetizers, not so much. We ordered the "beer battered pickles", which weren't full of flavor and not a large enough to be an appetizer. The "Super Dank Fries" didn't live up to the hype. The "That Shroomy Baby" pizza with Sausage added was the redeemer. It was super tasty, and the balsamic glaze drizzle made it pop. The "Elote" pizza was good and ancho Chilli seasoning was a nice touch. The crust on both pizzas definitely will make me order them again!

Went here for dinner tonight with friends before attending a Griffins game. The place was expectedly busy, which wasn't an issue. Our waitress certainly seemed overworked, which wasn't a big deal. However when our food arrived my burger, which I ordered as medium rare, was crisp and completely burnt. I ate maybe half of it. My partner's burger was equally charred and burnt. My margarita tasted entirely of tequila too. If we weren't on a time crunch to get to the game I would have brought this issue up and asked for it to have been remedied right then, however I didn't want to miss the game. Very disappointed overall.

Google
Sat at the bar and had great service. The bartender Elena was really friendly and did a great job answering questions. The beer was really good...liked their two different sours. The beer names were awesome. Nice because they also served mixed drinks. Cool space and plenty of seating.

Google
We loved this place.... old bar and very cool. Good beer choices. We had the fried picked and steak rolls as an app... SO delicious.

Jamie Gobeille

Google
Beautiful brewery in a beautiful city. I had a flight of beer that was very fairly priced. The beer was delicious. I got the boar burger which was really good and my wife got the meatloaf which actually wasn't very good at all. It was dry and pretty burnt on the edges. Still the server was nice and it had a nice atmosphere!

Google
Very good. Portion sizes were perfect, atmosphere was great, flavors were fantastic, cost was reasonable, service was good. We had a fantastic time out! Would recommend to a tourist to town, like ourselves. We had an appetizer, a couple different dinner choices, a dessert and some beers, exactly how we were looking to relax at the end of day 😊

Yelp
Seemed that they did not have enough help. Service was slow on drinks. We were shocked that they were out of dough since we planned on ordering pizza. Well we ordered other items and the food was delicious. Server was very friendly and accommodating. Definitely would go back.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a Friday evening before a concert with my 2 friends. So glad we made a reservation because it was packed and other groups were being told 30-45 minute wait. The griffin's home opener was also happening that night so if you know that there are some events going on, definitely try to book a reservation ahead of time! I would say the in house service was better than the last time I was here. Our server was very friendly. My friend has a dairy allergy and she tried calling ahead of time to check and see what her options were before we picked a restaurant. She left a voicemail the first time and there was no answer on the second call the next day. We ordered drinks (1 cider, 1 beer, 1 cocktail) and the server brought out 2 beers and a cocktail lol. My friends and I were like hmmm this doesn't seem right.. he took one back after we figured it out and brought the right drink. We had fried pickles for an app. They were okay. SO bready. I wish they used less breading. The ranch was super good. For my meal I had the vintage burger and it was so good. Cooked perfectly and definitely hit the spot. I like their waffle fries a lot too. I feel like their pricing is fair and it's a good option to have downtown that probably had food options for everyone.

Jessie H.

Yelp
Have been to the Grand Rapids brewery many times this time was not great. It was during our price. It was busy, but it felt like there was just not time taken and making our meals. I ordered the chicken thigh, wings with buffalo sauce and ranch and it seemed like they cooked the chicken, then breaded it then fried it which is odd the plate presentation looked like someone possibly could've eaten out of it prior to me. my guest had the burger which they said was good but it was just a burger. Maybe we will be back after our prize and they can focus more.

Yelp
We had a big group out for my wife's birthday celebration. Kudos to Oliver for being upbeat and great throughout- they really kept an upbeat and fun vibe with our group and some great recommendations. With lots of reuniting and conversations I missed some other food photos but I ordered the mac and cheese and it was delicious. I'm a huge fan of spicy food and they've always had their unique pickled jalapeños that have the best flavor with heat kick- so a perfect addition to anything but definitely the max and cheese. Boogie bread was also a mouth full of flavor. My wife got carnitas tacos because the other ones were spicier option but she did get some kick from something in hers too so heads up. My one buddy the bangers and mash and said it was really good. Wife ended with carrot cake and it was really tasty as well, I can vouch and I'm not a carrot cake person so it even swayed me in. Definitely hope to be back and try some other menu options but everyone had fun and everyone was fulfilled with their choices! Highly recommend.

Ben K.

Yelp
Came here and had pizza (large pepperoni option) and the kale Caesar. Both were really good! The pizza dough has a really good homemade and tasty flavor, better than I would have expected. Salad was really good too, kale was very ripe and tasty. Would def come back!

Curt H.

Yelp
OK gotta do better in posting a review of brew-pubs that I like... GR BC is one of my go-to places in downtown GR. Great food (this pizza is the BOMB) and they have a great selections of IPA's for this hop-head so what's not to like?! Here tonight on their 10 year anniversary so they CLEARLY have a ton of local fans. I am just a beer-nerd passing time whilst in town but will always come here!

Aftin J.

Yelp
Solid beer selections. Loved the silver foam, probably will opt for something hoppier next visit. I got the tacos, they were okay. Husband got a burger and that was delicious. Service was excellent.

Bri K.

Yelp
Reasonable prices for drinks and food though service could have been a bit better. Was there at 1ish on a Friday afternoon so it wasn't busy but our plates and drinks were empty for 15 minutes and the waitress couldn't be found to cash out. The bartender was nice enough to help us out though, so that was cool. Vibe is cool and dark. Almost like a library except in stead books, it's beer. They also have a game room with pinball, airhockey (I think? Maybe it was billiards) and some other small random things. They used to have outdoor seating, but apparently the social zones are going away. Bummer! It's located in the heart of downtown, by Ionia so parking isn't fun here. We typically uber downtown because it's the same as a parking garage.

Matt D.

Yelp
Pros: - Good beer: the witbier is a nice easy drinking beer - Ambience: cool, old building. Not too loud. - Game room Meh: - Pizza: love a thin-crust pizza, but mine was over cooked and way too salty Cons: - No beer flights. What?!?!

Abbie P.

Yelp
Went here before a concert in Grand Rapids and we enjoyed the convenience as it was right next door to the arena. We were eager to try this place as it looked really cute online. Staff was friendly and ambiance is nice, beer was great! However the food, not awesome. We tried ordering the steak rollers and then the caramelized feta dip but they were out of both. So we settled on the rustic dip with the super dank fries and wings. All fine, hopefully will chalk it up to an off night.

Michael T.

Yelp
Service was excellent. Friendly and knowledgeable. I had the Bangers and Mash. The sausage was very good and sourced from a local butcher. The mashed potatoes were very good but I didn't receive the side of porter gravy (forgot to ask). They did run out of the vegetal medley but provided a side salad as a substitute without issue. My friend ordered the Fill Your Face Philly. I didn't try it but he said it was good. He consolidate everything to the bottom roll since there was a lot of bread. It didn't look that appealing. I had a couple of pints Light side of sun (very good). He had the Fishladder and said it was very good. It was trivia night and since you couldn't hear the questions clearly, it was annoying and loud. Better to have an acoustic soloist.

Daniel L.

Yelp
Stop by here for a great happy hour and great food. Cheap beer is on the menu when it's the special and delicious food options. I went for something different and had the elote pizza. I felt it could've used a touch more corn and crema, but overall it was tasty. A good representation of elote. It's busy but the bartenders kept the drinks flowing.

Dannielle B.

Yelp
Service was terrible. Table next to us got up and walked out. "shareable" menu items were nowhere near shareable unfortunately. Was looking forward to visiting the oldest brewery in my home town but was highly disappointed.

Abigail G.

Yelp
Always a great stop downtown! Beers are amazing and the food is even better. Haven't had anything I didn't like. Pizzas are my go to, but my husband loves the burgers.

John K.

Yelp
Whenever I go to GRBC I ask myself, "why don't I come here more often?" I like the beer selection, the atmosphere l, and almost always enjoy the staff. My most recent visit was no exception. My friend and I sat at the bar and Rachel, working behind the bar, was super enjoyable to chat with. I'm not fussy on most food so what separates where I like to go or not is usually the staff and my experience is that GRBC almost always has fun people working at the bar. Rachel was mince, helpful, and had a great personality. I got the pizza tonight and I like their pizza and especially like what I assume was a change to the crust: it was thicker than before and had a much heartier feel to it. This was an upgrade to me and I'd definitely recommend their pizza and come back for it. The game room was closed to the public this night due to a special room reservation but on most nights this is a fun addition to a visit here!

Kathy M.

Yelp
Service was awful. Waitress never smiled once. She was very distant and seemed to not care. We ordered burgers and pizza and it took over 45 minutes to get our food. It was not a busy time. And we watched several people that came in after us get food long before us. She brought the wrong beer and rather than get the right beer she asked him to try it and if he liked it, just keep it (mind you he was charged for it and it wasn't replaced) The food was good and reasonably priced but even the host wasn't pleasant. The whole vibe was like we were bothering them. We won't ever go back and we wouldn't recommend going there either

Katie N.

Yelp
I had 1 beer during happy hour and with tax was under $4! It was a little loud in there, but staff was friendly. Bar area was small.

Brynn P.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the beer and food here right in the heart of downtown! Everything was reasonably priced, staff was attentive and accommodating and the food was delicious! Really loved the fries. Only thing I did not really love was how close the tables are together. I wish I had a bit more room, felt a bit cramped while eating. Otherwise, can't wait to return when we are in Grand Rapids again!

Mari H.

Yelp
This brewery was like a little history lesson. On January 1, 1893, six local breweries joined forces and opened Grand Rapids Brewing Co. Fast forward to 1920 when Prohibition hit and GRBC had to close its doors...only to finally re-open on December 5, 2012, 79 years to the day after the repeal of Prohibition. I'd be curious to what the names of beers were back in 1893 compared to today with their Universal Unicorn Princess of the Universe N' Stuff beer. After our visit we saw the brewery on The Food Network, featuring one of their sandwiches and Ben was so upset that we didn't know about this while we were there to try it. We didn't eat but he would have found room to share a sandwich so he could say that he tried it. He is so silly when it comes to The Food Network and trying the different places he sees on TV. So, guess that just means another visit is need, oh DARN! On our flight we had Universal Rainbow Unicorn Princess of the Universe N' Stuff, Sur La Lune, Peacher Feature, Bon Bon Fire, Rainbow Universe, and E.S.Bea Arthur.

Nic S.

Yelp
We had arrived right on time for a reservation and the white bearded manager didnt great us for over 15 mins and even took a couple phone calls. i understand if you are busy but at least say hello. He didnt realize we had a reservation. it was very disappointing. we ended up just going to the bar because he took to long. im talking over 15 once we said hello. we had a reservation because we had somewhere to be later that night. will not return to this business.. especially when there are plenty of great Grand Rapids restaurants.

Andy B.

Yelp
I was in Grand Rapids Brewing with several coworkers last week and I have to admit I had a great time. There was a nice selection of beers on draft and I had enjoyed a nice sampling What I really liked most were the appetizers on the menu. Their poutine and fried chicken thighs really stood out and I would eat only those next time I came back because they were incredible. I'm not discounting that the meal that I had, in fact I think I had a pretty great sandwich but those appetizers were out of this world... Nice job guys!

No Free Lunches Co ..

Yelp
Get the single hop stan and stay away from the pepperoni pizza. Your best bet is a burger. Midwest nice bartenders take care of you and the ambiance is that of a traditional brew pub. Sports on tv, you know the deal.

Steven K.

Yelp
Service is pretty ass, takes an hour for a drink. But seems chill. First time here and probs last time here no cap.

Cindy L.

Yelp
Came in for just a beer and some apps. The beer menu is slightly limited and some of us enjoyed our beer, some of us didn't. We got fried pickles which was enjoyable as well. I think this place would be great for popping in for a bite and a drink in a casual setting.

Melissa M.

Yelp
Food was okay, French fries were clearly made in the same oil that was used for fish. Ordered 2 burgers with different meat temperatures, they were swapped when received, bartender only partially listened when we ordered. Too much staff conversation and not enough attention paid to the customers. Staff all looked a bit grungy/sloppy, I hate seeing a beanie worn when someone is working around food. Gross and disrespectful

Riley L.

Yelp
Food was wonderful but our service was disappointing. We waited 45 min for drinks after two reminders to our waitress. Waitress kept asking if we needed anything but would never bring us what we asked for. The restaurant was about 1/2 full and we watched our waitress chat with coworkers at the bar for a good amount of time. It took 1.5 hours for our pizza. Hopefully it will improve for next time!

Emma T.

Yelp
I had a kale Cesar salad and a couple bites of the carrot cake. The menu is pretty large and include a few really interesting items. Generally, it is a lot of bar food, but if you are willing to go off the traditional there is a terrific whipped hot honey feta and some delicious fish tacos.

Gabriel B.

Yelp
Luke, one of the bartenders takes very good care of my girlfriend and I every time we come in for mug Mondays. Love it here.

Deana H.

Yelp
Um yes!! Had a terrible experience at Founders so we walked here. Walked right in and were seated by a very kind server, she was just adorable. We were treated with kindness and detailed attention, plus the food and beer were notably good. We had the vintage burger, octoberfest beer, passion fruit beer and dank fries. But it was the great service that sold us. Thank you for standing out in your community!!

Kate H.

Yelp
This is still a cute place with friendly service and great beer but the food is no longer great. Post COVID decline? Fries and gravy are clear bland, pre-made, frozen. Allegedly world class steak melt is pretty mediocre. Would come back for drinks, definitely, but skip dinner.

Dan P.

Yelp
Thoroughly medicorce. If you love beer or food, you can find better in Grand Rapids. Beer- just mediocre Pizza- edible, not the best toppings, lousy crust Service: order at counter, servers bring to table Overall cleanliness: above average Bathroom cleanliness: average

Brenda M.

Yelp
Bar service is quick, friendly and great beer and pizza. The steak bites are a great. Sharing plates are a must! The game room is so much fun. If you need a break from playing the games. The seating area is comfy leather couches. So comfy you may fall asleep. Pool table is a little small but that's ok. All the other games are fun too

Chris T.

Yelp
There are so many breweries in Grand Rapids area that this one in my opinion can be skipped. Ask for a sample before committing. I tried the Grow on Trees and it was undrinkable. I took one sip and was nope. I ended up getting the Silverfoam, their lager. It was an okay lager but nothing to rave about. I was hungry, so decided to order a pizza: hot to trot. I was intrigued to taste a pizza with sauce made with gochujang. The crust had no flavor and the texture was wrong, tasted like cardboard. The toppings were almost non-existent. The gochujang sauce was more sweet than spicy. Great idea, bad execution. Server was great though! Tip: make sure to check-in with Craft Pass. Goes until October 31.

Christopher F.

Yelp
I had posted a four-star review of their Pizza of the month on April 21st 2022. A good pizza but not enough toppings going by their pictures of it on their own website. Today I ordered the Pizza of the Month again and the lack of toppings was even more pronounced so I'm doing this review with the three-star rating and a picture of said Pizza showing that the advertised chorizo, red onion, and green onion were conspicuously almost not there at all. Very disappointing, so I don't think I'll be doing the pizza of the month at the Grand Rapids Brewing Company again, or any pizza for that matter. It's a shame too because the cheese, the crust, and the aioli were quite tasty.

Tim L.

Yelp
We stopped in here on a whim and we're glad we did. Really nice beer selection and some very tasty apps. Service from the bartender was great.

Saurabhi P.

Yelp
I went there with a group of 12 on a Saturday night and they were able to accommodate us with two tables in close vicinity on a short notice. Few members are vegetarian and they had options on the menu, would definitely say this is a vegetarian friendly spot. Everyone enjoyed their beer. I ordered the house mule which is not as sweet as a typical Moscow mule and had a strong ginger flavor, I loved it! You could tell it was fresh ginger.. However, some of my friends did not enjoy it and found a bit spicy. For dinner I ordered the Nashville hot pizza. I didn't think it was spicy at all, it was pretty good but the blue cheese was overwhelming. I might ask for less or no blue cheese next time. On of my friends ordered the pear pizza, which had red grapes on it. Sounds strange but it was really really good!! Everyone enjoyed their food! Definitely a great place to visit with amazing drinks and food.

Alenna F.

Yelp
My BF and I are from Ohio and just visiting the area. We knew Grand Rapids is "Beer city USA" and we decided to start off the trip with this place. The environment was a positive vibe. The staff was friendly, the beer selection was excellent, they had various arcade/ bar games, etc. Our waitress was sweet and friendly as well. The food came out quickly and to no surprise was delicious. 10/10 recommend the PB&J burger. The jelly was a jalapeño jam and that was to die for! Lastly, after we finished up paying our waitress gave us 2 free beers to go. Both beers we had previously ordered on the first round of drinks. Overall, great place!!

Austyn O.

Yelp
Our waitress randomly cashed us and everyone else in her section out, regardless of if we were done with our meals/drinks. Another patron was not happy about this, chased her down and a fight broke out between them. Very uncomfortable and unprofessional situation. Will never be back.

Mike B.

Yelp
Service is great very friendly food is great Holly the bartender is the best she is awesome loved everything about the place will definitely be back

Abby N.

Yelp
I am only giving two stars because the food was good. Service was terrible. My order was wrong multiple times after asking for it to be corrected. We were ignored and never checked in on and never received silverware or napkins! We had a birthday reservation and received no acknowledgment. Was really looking forward to dinner and was left extremely disappointed.

Ramsey L.

Yelp
Amazing beer! Great food! Free arcade! Good for an impromptu hang out or before a show at 20 Monroe or Van Andel arena. You can also rent space to have an event.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Love the vibe here ! We had the appetizers and beer. My husband enjoyed his Mexican lager beer. The appetizers were okay. We enjoyed the boneless chicken with siracha lemon pepper coating. Pickle fries were not the best. It had a thick layer of batter over it .

Sarah S.

Yelp
This we just the right place to come on a cold, cold day for dinner. Met my friend here, and our server Holly was great. I got to sample a couple beers and chose the blonde badger. The brown ale was good too. My friend ordered a Negroni and love the large ice cube in cocktails. We both ordered a burger. I got the vintage and my friend got the Burger with bacon, bbq sauce, aioli. The only reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is the kitchen missed the notes on one of the burgers and didn't have the sauces on the side and the medium well cook. My burger was a perfect medium rare, but my friend got Med rare instead of med well. Our server offered a drink on the house for my friend. The waffle fries that came with the burger were crisp and well seasoned. The menu offers quite a lot from burgers, some handhelds, and pizza. Also, appreciate a full bar at a brewery. I would definitely come here again. Good food, nice atmosphere, and friendly service.

Amanda L.

Yelp
A group of 8 of us went here and were able to make a reservation! The table was ready when we arrived. Started with the fried pickles, they are thick cut pickle chips with just the right amount of batter! Delicious! I'm not great at making decisions, so they will choose a flight of beer for you. I chose two that I wanted to try and told the waiter my style and he picked the other four. Was great choices and got to try 6 beers. For my big beer choice I chose to mix two together. Highly, highly recommend mixing the unicorn and peacher together, we will call this a peachy unicorn!! It is AMAZING if you like fruity beers, as the unicorn is light and full of fruit and tart and the peachy is a little creamier and toned down the sour. I ordered the PB&J burger it was flavorful, but not knock your socks off with weird flavors. The jelly was pretty mild and needed a little more kick. I had the house salad over the fries and it was so very good with goat cheese, cherries and jalapeno vinegarette. Fun, chill atmosphere, that everyone could find something they wanted!

Sammy H.

Yelp
Went in for a bite with some friends this weekend, it was rustic and ambient inside. I liked the martini more than the meal I got but the fried pickles highly recommend

Ciara M.

Yelp
The food was decent here but of course they had run out of all 3 things we wanted to try (both food and drink wise.) We ordered the Philly egg rolls which were delicious but you only got 2 of them sliced in half which was barely enough for 2 people. Our burgers were good and the sour beer we had was great. The service was alright, our server had clearly never served a table with a child before because she set our beers, knives/forks & hot food right in front of our 1 year old and also stood holding a plate over her head while she was handing us our food which is just a pet peeve of mine to begin with... but nevertheless, decent prices and pretty good tasting food. Okay experience overall.

Brian C.

Yelp
Came here thinking it would be just like ever other brewery with a smaller menu. I was wrong. This place has a big menu with a bunch of different foods. I ordered the BBQ Bacon Burger on a brioche bun with the dank fries. Only costed $12, which is a great price for a big burger these days! The flavor was really good! With every bite it seemed like I could taste a little bit of all the ingredients. (bbq sauce, garlic aioli, hickory-smoked bacon, haystack onions, arugula, and cowboy candy jalapeños). I wish I would have taken a picture of it but I hope you can imagine it with me describing it. The service was good and the food came out pretty quick. I also had two beers which were very good too! Rachel C was my server. She was really nice and visited the table the perfect amount of times! I highly recommend her and this place. I will be back!!

James S.

Yelp
I had the privilege of tasting GRBC's brunch menu that will be available starting this Sunday August 16th. There are a LOT of options. Here's what I had: Jerk Cauliflower: Very good. Cooked with their seltzer which makes it very light. Fried Blood Mary: Probably my third favorite item on today's menu. The fried pickles were great. The cheese curds also tasty. Biscuits and Boomers: Slight twist on Biscuits & Gravy. Very savory. Dank-Rito: Hands down my favorite item on the menu. Chorizo, peppers and onions, scrambled eggs, cheddar, jalapeños and dank fries. Topped with beer cheese and cilantro. Listen if there's anything you order - get this. It's super filling and slowed us down but well worth it. Mally's Sammy: Not bad at all. It's very sweet but think it could work better deconstructed. Chicken & Waffles: Very savory waffle. The chicken juicy and tender....lots of flavor. Their Funky Brunch comes with an amazing soul/funk playlist and even outdoor seating. I'll be back ASAP!

Gary B.

Yelp
I really liked this. In a busy part of downtown Grand Rapids. Limited street parking, nearby garages. Inside is a trendy modern interior, clean bathrooms. Great beers. Great appies. Reasonably priced flights. First class staff, polite and fast and knowledgeable.

Jada D.

Yelp
Came her with my family and had a great time! The place has a very rustic and comfortable feel to it. The waitresses are very kind, personable, and are happy to recommend their house brew samplers. My dad was a fan of all three of his, so that should tell you all you need to know. Food wise, you can't go wrong with their boneless fried chicken paired with their Korean-style sauce and their "So Fancy" flatbread pizza. Both were so savory and are total must haves if you're planning on coming here!
