An employee at this store felt the need to comment on the size of each woman in my party by comparing us to a random woman multiple times throughout the shopping experience, saying that "if SHE was able to fit in the clothes, then we'd definitely be able to." This was after I expressed that I was shopping for someone’s birthday present, and everyone else in my party was clearly uninterested in the overpriced clothes. He went so far as to singling out my friend AFTER I had made the purchase and made her uncomfortable by commenting on her size. After I told him that he was completely unprofessional in comparing our sizes unprovoked, he and the owner Jon became incredibly defensive and backed up his comments by saying "he has multiple sisters and respects women" and "he is a tailor so he cares about fit." First of all, why was their default to list off every woman that existed in his life, as if that negated everything he said about our bodies? Even when I questioned why he was comparing us to a woman I have never met or seen before, his immediate response was that she was a friend of his as if that excused his comments. Second of all, if he cared so much about fit, then he should've known a $30 baby boy's shirt wouldn't have fit any of us. However, both of them were obviously trying to get me to make a purchase so this employee's idea to sell me the product was to just talk about our sizes. I immediately returned the item after this interaction. Joke of a “vintage” store.

You walk in and the vintage smell hits you. Loads of army jackets, jeans and mostly men’s clothing.

Google
Phenomenal curation, legit the best I have ever seen. A bit on the pricier side but Jon is willing to work with you on pricing especially if you buy multiple things. Very friendly too! I will be back next time I'm in NYC :)

Google
One of the most curated shops period. Jon is incredibly helpful and knowledgeable of his products. Prices only reflect his special curation & rarity of items. Will definitely be going back anytime I’m in the area 5/5!

I've been to almost every vintage shop in NYC and GSL is simply the best. Great curation, incredible quality, full range of price points, and the staff / Jon are founts of knowledge on all things vintage. 10/10

John and the staff at grand street local are very friendly and welcoming. Customer service is top-notch! The store itself is very cozy and the collection of clothing and nick-nacks is very well curated. You can tell John and his staff put a lot of time and energy into what they do; and they are doing a great job. So many great deals here! I went in the other day and John pulled out a pair of Aqua Jordan 8’s and gave me a great price to which I was very grateful for. I implore anyone who is into vintage goods to come check out this store! One of the best places to shop in Williamsburg Brooklyn! -Andrew

Yelp
Went into this shop and left completely bewildered. The prices made absolutely no sense. Even though the pieces were curated and some of them were interesting, the prices were inexcusable. It made GRAILED vintage seem cheap and affordable. It was as if there was an arbitrary extra digit in the prices. The owner truly believes that an old Harley Davidson t-shirt is worth $400 rather than $40. He must owe money to the mob. He even carries tshirts that were unofficial iron-on merch and the prices were almost all over $100USD. When I quietly uttered the price of a shirt out loud to my partner, he jumped in to defend his nonsensical prices (which he must have to do multiple times per day) and claimed that the shirt I was holding "could be worth over a THOUSAND dollars". To whom exactly?? Where are these people? Even the most spoiled trust-fund baby would soon be broke if they shopped here. It was both laughable and sad. As someone who has done his fair share of vintage shopping in cities around the world, I have never experienced a seller who was so detached from reality. It was disappointing to see such a greedy seller gatekeeping culture. We left pretty quick and I ended up going across the street to another store that sells vintage by weight and found an amazing unique tshirt for $16, so i'd suggest that place instead.

Yelp
Be aware that their listed hours are not accurate, call first to make sure that they are open. Headed over because they were listed as open but sadly, are not.

Yelp
Cute from the outside, but beware! This place only has absolutely unhinged prices. Would not return.

Yelp
Went for a walk in my neighborhood over the weekend. Started walking over Grand St and stumbled into this vintage clothing store. It's a small space inside, its walls lined with colorful clothing, and centered with a large, family-style table with more clothing, apparel, pins, books, and more. To put it plainly, this is a Williamsburg hipster's paradise. Would describe Grand Street Local as the in-between low-cost thrift stores like Goodwill and high-end consignment stores like Ina. The shirts can vary from $30-$60, but the clothing is some of the best quality that I've seen of any other thrift store. Everything from old band t shirts to New York City-emblazoned sweatshirts to Levi's jeans. They also have really cool vintage college gear from all over the country, even University of Illinois, my sports school. If you need to try on the clothing before buying, there is a small changing room in the back near a glass case of old school shoes. On top of that, Grand Street Local has a decent inventory of old records, scarves, blankets, hats, and more. Though I didn't buy anything, think this store had some gems that more people should be swiping.

Yelp
Love that they do all the work for you in finding some of the best vintage pieces. Always find something unique that I need to take home with me. And supporting a mom and pop shop is a bonus.

Yelp
I've shopped here a handful of times and my experience has always been great. If your looking for a perfect pair of jeans, a nice jacket, or a hard to find graphic tee give Grand Street Local a chance. If they don't have what your looking for they might know a place that does. The service here is top notch.

Yelp
I came here with my partner, and we had so much fun shopping! I came due to the good reviews, and we did not leave disappointed. We had been thrifting literally all day and were becoming discouraged at the lack of clothes available for men/masc-folks. At this spot, my partner left with a good selection of clothes! They're a bit on the pricey side but the quality of clothes makes it worth it! Plus the more items you get, the lower your total price will be. You're not going to find cheap throwaways here. Everything in the store is hand picked and curated by the owners. And they even track vintage items/brands for you! The man there (I forget his name) was extremely nice and helpful to us. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I had the opportunity to pop into Grand Street Local upon my visit to Williamsburg. The store opened by the sweetest newlyweds was unbelievably curated. This is no Plato's closet! Explicitly "vintage" the apparel, vintage toys, decor and more are hand selected at the highest quality! I left with an amazing vintage 70's concert tee and Levi's cutoffs! Stop in for quality vintage and be treated to so much more.

Yelp
owner is really nice but i wouldn't recommend doing trades with them and shirts are overpriced as well. Wish they cared for customer more.

Yelp
Truly the most epic vintage shop created by an even more incredible duo. Jon and Jenna are insanely good at what they do.. Jon has literally been collecting all of his life, he knows ev-er-y-thing about vintage (and sneakers!!!). And Jenna is a one woman show of her own, from marketing to business to sales and FAR beyond, the two of them hold a ton of knowledge and could not have picked a better industry or city to far succeed in. They have something for absolutely anyone, tee collection is wild, pins, jackets, old playboys, cheeky knick-knacks, honestly, GO and you'll see that anyone would leave this shop very happy, even if that is purely for nostalgic reasons. They continue to impress me, WELL DONE ON EVERY FRONT. GO SUPPORT THIS MAMA & PAPA, they deserve it and work super hard to bring you the best, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
I have visited this shop quite a few times and never leave empty handed. Their selection never disappoints, such a unique array of items!!! Always excited to go back

Yelp
The best vintage store I've been to by far! They have a great price range and amazing, well curated pieces. My favorite!!

Yelp
The dopest vintage shop. Awesome gifts and items from my childhood, sick vintage tees and jackets. Great vibe with super friendly husband and wife owners. They give a shot of whiskey with each purchase!

Yelp
Cool chill ass spot....owner very friendly and not pushy.Usually buy vintage shirts from Round 2 but kinda expensive. Shop has that comfortable cozy feel. Although I didn't find an item..that I must cop....his customer service demands respect..

Yelp
Grand street local is the best vintage shop I've come across. All their stuff is in quality condition and the owners of the shop are so awesome. I am from Florida and we basically have like no great vintage shops near me so I'm grateful I get to shop NYC's grand street local via their online shop (and also lurk their Instagram which is updated frequently). I just recently ordered the cutest vintage Miami Dolphins crop top and also adorable little vintage miami dolphins basketball shorts. Everything was affordable, shipped very quickly, arrived in great condition. Also supporting this family own local shop is a plus. I highly recommend grand street local for your unique vintage wants & needs :)

Yelp
Really dope place great selection. My shirt smelled really clean (which is always great for a vintage store). Staff was really nice as well!

Yelp
had purchased a crewneck that was described to me by the owner as a vintage 2000 up in smoke tour crewneck. This however was false after a few friends mentioned that they never made such a crewneck. After some investigation I realized that it was a modern reprinting you can get for $15 on Amazon. I reached out to John, the owner via Instagram dm. I have been an avid supporter of the shop and frequently bring new people to the shop. I was expecting a good response and hopefully to receive credit towards another item, being that this was not as described. Instead the owner insisted it was my fault that I purchased it, and that he still believes it's vintage, despite there being no evidence of this. I am very disappointed in this. Being that the market for rap vintage items has only increased since this purchase, id assume that it'd actually HELP the shop if I gave them this item towards something such as a band tee for the same price I originally paid. They will make an additional markup on each item, and if it's "real" as the owner says, he should be able to accept the item. Overall it seems the owner, John, knew this was a modern reprint and preyed on someone with less knowledge to make a sale, and then refused to offer any ounce of help, eventually leaving me on seen. I will never shop with the people of Grand Street Local again, and I don't think you should either. Reprints have their place when clearly marked, not when sold as true vintage.

Yelp
Happened to be walking by and decided to stop and check out what seemed to be a small, but well curated shop. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of a lot of their vintage/non vintage (it generally ranges from 40's to 90's although some stuff did seem to be contemporary too) and the overall aesthetic of the store is similar to mine so there was a lot of stuff I saw that I liked. I ended up settling on a not too old (early 2000's maybe?), perfect condition Harley Davidson locations tee (Las Vegas baby!) in a size small for $20 bucks. A steal, considering that its really hard to find Harley Davidson tees in smaller sizes and similar ones go for vintage corporate giants like The Vintage Twin for 90 bucks a pop. Besides clothing they also have a large variety of pins, books, records and unique objects although I already have my eye on a vintage Ford Thunderbird shirt that hopefully won't be gone when I come back. If you love Americana-y pop culture (think Playboy, Harley Davidson, Coca Cola, etc.) then you will love this shop.
