Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection

This is a lovely hotel in the most beautiful city. We spent three days in Lucca decompressing after our daughter’s wedding. The hotel was well-situated on a lovely square with cafes all around. The staff were amazing, breakfast was excellent. The only very slight downside was the room layout was a bit quirky and dark, there were only two small windows. But overall I’d definitely return!

Fantastic property in a superb location small village between Pisa and Florence. Restaurant was good for dinner or you could venture out into the streets for an amazing assortment of local cuisine. Staff is warm and welcoming and willing to help with information or a dinner reservation. The bar staff in particular seemed to know the guests like friends and listened to their stories and experiences with engagement. Such a delightful experience and the room we had was the perfect mix of old world architecture with modern amenities. My wife especially enjoyed the bath salts!

We popped into Grand Universe for drinks in their rooftop bar before heading out to watch the festival. The cocktails were lovely, and our server was great. The outside bar area is quite small, but it more than makes up for it with its views of the city. It was raining on and off during our visit, but on a clear night the sunset is meant to be incredible, so it’s definitely worth timing it right if you can.

We had the most lovely time with friends at the roof top bar at sunset prior to an excellent dinner in the dinning room . The views from the rooftop bar of the city are breathtaking, the service, drinks and hors d’oeuvres, wonderful. |And the Puccini suite # 108 overlooking the Puccini concert hall and plaza was devine, large, modern and extremely comfortable . Lovely, peaceful atmosphere with great view. Delicious food and excellent champagne at a fair price - and the service was absolutely delightful.|We visited several times during our stay and we'll be back at this hidden gem at our next visit.||Quite a walk up the stairs - and only few tables, but I'm sure it's possible to use the lift with assistance from reception (you'll normally need a keycard). We however needed and enjoyed the exercise.

This hotel is in an excellent location near the ring road and just a block into the center of the old town from the ramparts.. The rooms are modern with fabulous comfortable beds. Best I have had. But the bathroom is awful. It is very dark and small. No place for toiletries just a sink. If the bathroom had been adequate than the room would have been just fine. The room had a lot of space in the sitting area where a shelf or a table could have been installed near the bathroom for people to put their toiletries on. Not ideal but certainly better. ||The Champagne rooftop experience on Friday and Saturday nights was a bit weird. To go up there you need to pay 20 Euro each. We took a peek and there were only a few tables in the place. It was beautiful up there, maybe it could have more tables and a general bar. we would have loved to sit up there.||Also, I think that there needed to be more receptionists. We asked for reservations to a restaurant and went out for a few hours yet came back and a call was not made. ||One bag with our luggage was missing and they said they were coming up with it, but after an hour, we went to get it.||It is a nice hotel and I would have rated it higher but for these issues.

Superb hotel in central location. Staff at hotel were wonderful efficient helpful. Lucca is great location lovely bars restaurants cafes. Wonderful historic churches and buildings including the historic wall which allows you to walk around the ancient city with gorgeous views of the Tuscan hills
