Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection

Not everybody will agree with my review but this hotel delivers on all points including the size of its European rooms. The lounge the provided breakfast and even the dine in restaurants are all well above par for a Marriott property in well above the norm for local hotels. However besides the perfect location in Lucca the biggest Plus for us is the fantastic service that everybody at this property provides from management to housekeeping they are nearly as family and treat us that way on each occasion that we stay there

Here’s a glowing review for your 5-star hotel stay: We had an absolutely magnificent stay at this hotel! From the moment we arrived, the team went above and beyond to make us feel completely at home. The room was impeccably clean and incredibly comfortable, but it was the exceptional service that truly stood out. We traveled with our small fur baby, and the staff made her feel so welcome—it was heartwarming to see how much they cared. It’s rare to find a place where you’re not just treated like guests, but like family. By the time we left, we felt as though we were saying goodbye to dear friends. A special thank you to Valentina, Valeria, Laura, William, and Antonio—you all made our stay unforgettable with your kindness, professionalism, and genuine hospitality. This hotel is amazing in every way, but it’s the people who make it truly extraordinary. We’ll absolutely be back, and we can’t recommend it highly enough!

…. exceptional place = Lucca. We enjoyed 6 days of great food and personal service in this gem. Hotel is well-managed. We could participate in year-end and bew years dinners and brunch. The empathetic and highly personaliswd service is worth to mention. Breakfast is good. Restaurant has really good dishes in combination with a pretty well assorted wine cellar (literally). We will get back there.

My wife and I stayed in the Grand Universe Lucca several times over the past four years, and every time the experience was consistently exceptional. Located in the walled part of the city that's a ten-minute walk to the train station, The Grand Universe is beautifully furnished and decorated, and it includes the most comfortable beds, large flat-screen TVs, and wonderfully appointed bathrooms with huge showers. The staff is absolutely amazing. Georges is the regional manager, and he always goes out of his way to welcome us upon our arrival. Antonia is the on-site manager, and she ensures a wonderful stay for every guest and makes us feel like we're family. Vanessa is her assistant, and she is a consistently bubbly, happy and welcoming host who makes everyone feel appreciated. Ricardo always goes out of his way to greet us and welcome us back, and his kindness and accommodating manner are outstanding. The young ladies who staff the restaurant during breakfast are truly exceptional and kind. My wife and I have stayed in dozens of beautiful hotels throughout Tuscany over the past twelve years and the Grand Universe Lucca is by far one of our favorites. We absolutely love staying there, and that's a direct reflection on the management and staff. The Grand Universe Lucca isn't "just a hotel," it's our home away from home in the beautiful walled City of Lucca!

I loved the stay. We had 2 rooms for 3 nights for a family of 5, luckily got upgraded and as some other reviewers say the rooms are small in this place! Out of the 2 rooms one had a walk-in closet and big bathroom. The gym is tiny but has a treadmill, cycle and elliptical but it's open 24 hours. Staff was super friendly. The location is great, in the heart of Lucca's historical center.

Overall- very pleasant experience. Excellent location, modern rooms, nothing to complain about except breakfast||Positive: great location, rooms facing very quiet square. Super comfy beds and pillows. Small hotel so no crowds. No issues with heating/cooling in the room.||Negative: Buffet is 30 euro and the choice is super limited which feels like a scam in Italy:)) And things are slightly warm, not even hot. Very disappointed as a Platinum member. Not an issue to pay 30 euro but offer a choice. You can’t even get an omelette (only scrambled eggs available) and have to pay extra 12 euro. ||Hint: platinum members get water (from the mini bar) for free, but reception won’t tell you unless you ask

A stone’s throw from the train station, just inside the old city walls lies the beautifully renovated Grand Universe Lucca, Autograph Collection hotel. Our family of 3 had a wonderful 5 night stay here over Christmas. ||Antonia, Maria & the entire team went out of their way by preparing a birthday surprise for my son, and we had a Christmas treat lying in our room on the evening of 24th Dec. ||Breakfast was personalized, with staff recalling our favorite drinks, each of us being greeted warmly and someone checking multiple times to see that we had everything we needed. ||Our rooms were cleaned thoroughly every single day, including turn down service on Christmas Eve, when the service came with cookies- which was a real pleasure. ||Highly recommend a stay here. Needless to say Lucca itself is a beautiful, unspoilt city - which retains its small city charm. We had a Christmas market & live music just outside the hotel and were able to walk around the city walls with residents each morning in the bright sunshine. Lucca is also within easy reach of a number of other places- Pisa, Florence, Viareggio, Cinque Terre, making it a great pit stop. ||Arrivederci e grazie Lucca & Grand Universe!

Terrific location. Unfortunately they were setting up for Comic Con and there were tents being set up EVERYWHERE. Traffic was hard to navigate to the hotel. |Regular rooms are small, Jr Suite was spacious. Well appointed but not luxurious. |Nice bathroom amenities, turn down service. |The AC controls (not a simple thermostat) in Italian, OK for temp but fan control questionable. The heated towel rack control was behind the makeup mirror. |Breakfast either buffet or a la carte. Both good. Dinner was good, but the dining room is very small and if there are tour groups you could have quite a wait. |Front desk personnel were exceptionally helpful with umbrellas, reservations etc. |Would recommend but it is somewhat overpriced in our opinion.
