We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Grace at Grand View Lodge, and she made our experience unforgettable. Her drink recommendations were spot-on — you can tell she really knows her craft and takes pride in what she does. Everything she made was delicious, and she worked quickly even when the bar was packed. What really stood out was how genuine and kind she was. She made everyone at the bar feel like a regular, and her energy added so much to the atmosphere. Grace is truly a gem and someone who takes the guest experience to the next level. If you’re visiting Grand View Lodge, do yourself a favor and grab a seat at the bar with her!

We stayed at Interlachen (Rygh) for a girls weekend and it was fabulous! There was 8 of us and with 6 bedrooms, 8 beds and 3 bathrooms it was perfect. The outside set up was so nice and plenty of seating. And with individual mini-splits in each room we could all stay comfortable. The garage was fantastic with a huge couch and bar area, sink and refrigerator and giant TV(we didn’t use) but so great to be able to go in that area and be as loud as we wanted. Taking the shuttle was awesome when we went to the Pub at the resort. Highly recommended!

The service amongst every employee was fantastic. Everything you could ever want in one place. The beauty of the grounds was breathtaking. The kids were never bored. Nobody was deprived of food because there were many options. The beds were so comfortable!

Google
It was a very beautiful place! Definitely a lot of walking. There were a lot of a great activities to do on and off the resort! The only problem I had was with the cleanliness of the room and with reserving a room. The room was clean, but there was some trash left on the counters that the cleaners could have easily seen, and their were dead bugs everywhere. Reserving the room was disappointing because I reserved a room online and I got a call 10 minutes later saying there were no rooms available for the time I wanted to stay, even though the website said there were at least 3 rooms available.

We visit Grandview Lodge every year! The resort and scenery are absolutely beautiful! The cabins are so nice with high end accommodations. The staff are always helpful. There are so many activities to do with our children! Our favorite family activities include biking, swimming at the indoor waterpark, paddle boarding and kayaking at the beach, and visiting the ice cream store. The daily breakfast buffet is delicious too! We would recommend Grand View to anyone looking for a great family vacation! The Linden Cabins are designed perfect for our family.

Google
Grand View Lodge serves as the ultimate lakefront destination for families, couples, our business. The location offers a peaceful and sprawling retreat, surrounded by water, trees and beautiful landscaping. There are water activities for any age level, plenty of delicious dining options, and wellness offerings to recharge and unwind. This is definitely a resort we will return to again. The pontoon was also a highlight, so make sure you add that to your itinerary.

Our memories of Grand View Lodge was A+ in regards to the beauty of your grounds and the amazing flowers. The meals in the bar area and our daily breakfast were graded at D . GVL needs a major change of their morning breakfast foods. Loved the golf courses and outdoor pool! Their fast growth needs to be balanced with better care of their food services and upgrade of the sleeping rooms are needed

Google
Disappointed! Our room was equipped with a toilet seat with only one side attached, we could not lock the patio sliding glass door, there were bugs and cobwebs in the corner of the living room, the screen door to the patio was very difficult to open, and the dining room lighting was darker than candlelight. I made a complaint and it was not addressed, then talked with one of the most rude front desk clerks ever about it the next day. He definitely should not be allowed anywhere near the public. For the price point, TERRIBLE. We'll never stay here again!

Yelp
Northern Minnesota is just in a league of their own!! Went for a short family trip and even though it was late September, we had a blast! We swam, paddle boarded, kayaked, pontoon cruise and even went down some water slides. They have great food options on site and even have a Vikings bar for watching the games!! Definitely will be back and can't wait enjoy even more of the Brainerd Lake Area.

Yelp
Just left from a girls weekend and it exceeded our expectations x1000. First, Drea is fantastic and deserves a raise. She answered all of our questions and had great recommendations/tips. Every staff member for that matter was so kind and helpful. We loved the shuttle service around the property and the option to text the front desk for anything you need. The coffee shop in the hotel was fantastic, there were tons of adorable spots to hang out, the food was great, loved the big outdoor hot tub, and the rooms felt luxury. There are tons of cute boutiques nearby as well. We could've stayed for 5 more days and not become bored.

Yelp
We stayed in a large, 9 bedroom cabin for our family Holiday in December. The cabin was spacious, however, it needed much updating. The cabin was old and tired looking. The carpet was worn, and had duct tape in 1 place to hold the frayed edges. The lighting was poor. The floors were cold. The kitchen was fairly well equipped except for no dishwasher soap for the ancient dishwasher. I could maybe overlook some of this except for the $1600 + fees we paid per night. We have a family friend who works at the resort, who had arranged a discount for us. Those arrangements had been made the previous spring. When we checked in, we were told the discount would not be honored. The resort does have wonderful restaurants and great amenities. We felt the price was too high for the worn down cabin.

Yelp
Went the week after spring break so location was very quiet which was nice but the breakfast buffet was not available because of how slow so we had a menu of options instead which was just fine. Staff was attentive and they did have a few grab and go items too which was nice. The lodge for breakfast looked out onto the grounds which is beautifully kept. The breakfast buffet was a 10/10 when it was available.

Yelp
Stayed in the hotel. The coffee, alcohol and food counter was the best! The restaurants within the resort are all pretty bad. It's perfect for families with little kids We walked into a nicotine pouch dried on the headboard of the bed. Vending machine at the hotel is a need. The story of the Italian restaurant is a bit weird. I wouldn't advertise that the resort bought a ladies house who specifically noted she did not want the resort to ever have it.. but she died. The large building is very old and stinks. I hope they pay the overseas workers coming here to work for them for the summer! Pocket sized bug spray was $15 through the main lounge but the clothing store has full size bottles for $7... Wished for better food options. That would make it much better experience. I want to go back but struggling to find a occasion to do so cause it doesn't have everything but enough within a close vicinity.

Yelp
$650 a night - what you'd pay at the Four Seasons... and this place is a wreck. Our deck and windows were absolutely FILTHY - huge piles of dirt, insects and bird poop covering our decks and outdoor furniture- see photos!! The hallway covered in cheap ancient carpet, the walls paper thin and the floor on the second floor squeaked and gave so much I was afraid my leg would punch through. Just outrageous that they charge Tokyo prices for such a dump.

Yelp
Well, we LOVED our visit over April spring break in 2023, and despite being "between" seasons, there was still a lot of kid-friendly activities (2 amazing bounce houses, laser tag, 2 pools, 2 arcades, scavenger hunt). Our cabin was amazing (we splurged on the Linden Cottage) and loved it - well designed, modern, amazing! The front desk check in was good, and the restaurants/breakfast were all really solid. We loved the pools and activities. However, we just went back in October for MEA break in 2023, and despite being one of the busiest times of the year, there surprisingly weren't as many kid-friendly activities (1 pool, super crowded BINGO, golf). (We weren't into golf). It SUCKED having 1 pool closed as there were way too many (screaming) kids in one pool. That said, our kid still loved it and had fun. Unfortunately, the same exact Lindon Cottage (244) had a TERRIBLE mattress on the king bed this time. We still loved the experience, but it definitely wasn't the same 4 star experience and customer service experience we had just 6 months prior. The spa massage quality seemed to vary significantly between the 6 months also.

Yelp
The Grand View Lodge is a beautiful place. It's a very large resort with plenty of beautiful sights and lots of things to do. We went in late October, so couldn't enjoy the lake as much, but there were plenty of other things to do. They have a tennis court, basketball hoop, sand volleyball, gaga ball, shuffleboard, and much more. And they have the necessary equipment for each. On top of that they have multiple indoor pools (one was closed for maintenance when we went) with a water slide which made it lots of fun for my kiddos. They have bonfire pits all throughout the resort and will deliver free firewood! You can even pick up free s'mores ingredients at the front desk! We stayed in the Clubhouse Suites where the backyard is literally the golf course. Our unit was a 1 bedroom unit with two queen beds in the bedroom. The living room had a pullout couch and a bed that pulled down from the wall (but the room isn't big enough to use both beds at the same time). There's a mini fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, plates and utensils. The bathroom was spacious with a large jacuzzi tub and a small shower. Overall, the unit shows its age, but we were content with what we got. There are many different area of the resort (some units look a lot newer than others), so I feel like there's something for everyone if you're willing to spend more. I'd like to come back during the peak season and see how different things are... and when/if I do, I'll update my review!

Yelp
Really nice for family. We enjoyed the swimming pools and the beach. The grounds are well maintained.

Yelp
Grandview Lodge is an upscale hidden travel destination in the Midwest. It has many on-site upscale restaurants and amazing wine collections. You can enjoy a lakefront cabin with a fresh breathtaking taking view. We come here every year to hide away from the city life while enjoying an upscale quiet experience.

Yelp
It was really a great weekend getaway here. For the Spooktacular weekend we took advantage of a staycation. Thursday to Saturday accommodations in the new hotel was perfect. The room was in my opinion modern cabin style chic. It was very warm and welcoming. The hotel was right across from the pool and gym facilities. This was super convenient because we could workout in the morning and then head to the main lodge to get our buffet brunch. Their buffet brunch options were great. The room had a sun roof so it was full of sunlight most of the time we ate. It had a really nice feel to it. Families of all sizes dined there. The grounds on the property was also very nice. At first the property looked overwhelming but with routine walks and driving it was manageable. It appeared to truly be a very family oriented resort. Saturday morning came and the flood gates of children and their parents were all over the property. It seemed like friends of friends got together and planned the weekend where the kids could enjoy the festivities and the adults could congregate as well. I thought that was very practical and smart. Assuming my impression of their plans are correct. I would definitely return to this resort. Maybe enjoy one of the cabins next time!

Yelp
I had the worse massage of my life, last Sept. My Masseuse was a male in his late 20- early 30's perhaps....He was massaging the top of my back, my trapezoid area, He never asked how much pressure I liked or any of the usual questions. He was using very DEEP pressure...he said I had "knots" It was very painful and I told him so...he really didn't ease up much and I practically jumped off the bed. He finally was done with that area. The next day I could not raise my arms up past my waist... I was in PAIN! this went on for weeks, I finally contacted my Dr. and was referred to PT. , after going to physical Therapy for weeks and daily exercises , I could finally move again and without pain. I did Email Grand View Lodge, but they never responded to my email. I get frequent massages in the Twin Cities area, so I am not a novice to getting a massage. Mostly I feel Grand View should of at least responded to my email, very poor customer service.

George D.

Yelp
Grand View has lost site of its original intention, lodging for the families of campers at Lincoln and Lake Hubert. They have become obsessed with profit, profit, profit. I have no objection to profit but when the value proposition drops along with the service, time to move on. The Cote family, when active in management, maintained a family style resort. Sadly, many have passed and the current management comes from the hotel industry that believes Grand View should be more like a Marriott. Sad!

Yelp
Had one of the best weekends of my life at Grandview Lodge. A serene setting with exceptional service. It felt like home. The property was exquisute with a par 3 right on our back deck. Perfect spot for any golf trip or a family getaway. Both the Pines and the Preserve golf courses were immaculate with no shortage of drink carts to go around. If you are able, I highly reccomend visiting the Grandview Lodge with any group for any occasion.

Mitch I.

Yelp
Pines and Preserve golf course were in great shape. Very friendly pro shop staff. Top 10 course

Yelp
Fun place, lots to do, beautiful setting, but wow is it expensive! I've been to lots of north woods places and it's a little hard to justify the extra cost here for a similar-ish experience. We had a wonderful vacation with a family of 9 in one of the newer garden cottages, ages ranging from 2 to 69! Lots of swimming, pickle ball, bike riding, kayaking, pontooning, and banana boating were some highlights! I even enjoyed a morning yoga session. Daily stops to the Chocolate Ox kept the kids happy with plenty of ice cream and candy offerings. Be prepared though, the restaurants are a bit pricey for a cabin vacation. The bartender at the Cantina was a total grump. (Isn't this supposed to be fun?) We won tacos and drinks at Mingo Bingo but had difficulty cashing it in because evidently the kitchen closes if it's a rainy day? Seems like there's gotta be a better backup option. Anyway. Overall we all agreed it was a great vacation, but next time will go somewhere else. Pro tip: walk down to the boat house at 7:45am to be ready to sign up and ensure your spot for pontoon cruises or banana boat rides when they open at 8am.

Yelp
Units 155 and 156 no bueno. The staff here at Grandview couldn't have been nicer to find us different rooms (although it took many phone calls and transfers)! What's wrong with the rooms? 1. Bed mattresses are hard as a rock. 2. Very few pots/pans, although there were 40 plates. 3. Stains on rug. 4. Throw pillows need to be thrown right out. 5. Three thermostats--which one is for where? 6. No dressers or places to put your clothes other than no light closets. 7. Fireplace no worky What was good about the room? Big showers (but no soap or shampoo), close to lodge, and I really enjoyed watching the deer in the back woods this morning. Some of the cabins have private owners, so choose wisely (like we didn't)! Let's see if our next rooms are better!

Yelp
We stayed for 3 nights in one of the newer (and more expensive) cabins. The space was clean and peaceful. However, lots of things seemed very cheap such as the poor quality mattresses and pillows that are lumpy and small. The kitchen is poorly supplied, knives are super cheap and not sharp, coffee maker is the very cheapest Mr. Coffee machine. Shower products are motel 6 quality, as is the bedding. Also, there is no housekeeping service during the stay. Additionally, we dined at 3 of their restaurants: CHAR, Cru, and the pub. The pub was good. CHAR and Cru are both very expensive (entrees in the $30-$70 range, drinks $15+) which would have been fine if the quality matched the price, but it very much did not. The food was mostly mediocre. It was not awful, but not great either. It could have been any generic chain restaurant like Olive Garden. We also had massages at the spa, which, again, were expensive. While I paid for a 90 minute treatment, my massage therapist started 10 minutes late and ended 5 minutes early, and once again, the quality was mediocre despite the prices being more like New York or San Francisco. Also, the hot tub was broken. Conclusion: I feel taken advantage of as a customer because what they charge and the product they deliver are so totally out of alignment that it's a ripoff. It was our first time here and, unless they can get their act together, it will be our last.

Yelp
2022 has been the year of try new local things. Grandview went on the list this January to relax and do some snowmobiling. We rented a great cabin and enjoyed every part of it. We went back in March with friends for more of the same and this time added some pool time for adults and kids. This past weekend we made our 3rd visit to enjoy some summer fun. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great but we still made it out on the boats for some fun on the lake. When we were back we tried out the lakeside pool, bar and chocolate shop. Who knows if visit number 4 will come this year but for sure we will be back in February. Every employee is kind and courteous. The property is well taken care off and makes you feel at home. The restaurants server quality food that makes you not want to leave the property. Well done Grandview staff!

Yelp
Best resort in the Brainerd area. Lots to do for families. Best beach on Gull Lake.

Yelp
Extremely disappointed in Grandview from the moment we got there. We were promised check in before 4 and we didn't get into our room until 5 and it wasn't fully cleaned. The floors were filthy and the windows had piles and piles of dead bugs. Not what you expect for $465 a night. We got a text from the resort asking how checking in was and I explained the floors weren't cleaned before we got there and their respond was they would send us a broom!! Awful customer service! There was also a lingering smell of puke in the room that we believe was coming from the couch. Wishing it was just the cleanliness of the room that was the only disappointment but the staff and service was not what you would expect either. Most staff was rude, the service was SO slow and the food was nothing special. Will be checking out a different resort next time.

Yelp
On a friend's recommendation we stayed here for the Grand Brewfest, which takes place at Grand View Lodge each November. We had a great time at the tasting event, complete with food pairing. From the event website: This fun filled weekend started in 2010 when the rise in craft beer was gaining momentum. The event is Grand View's craft beer and culinary weekend to pay homage all of our state's finest breweries. My husband and I rented a cabin on Roy Lake which was the perfect size for the two of us. The cabin had a fireplace, a deck, 1-1/2 bathrooms and a nice big bathtub. We didn't plan to cook but the kitchen certainly seemed functional. It was very clean and cozy. I'm looking forward to returning! NOTE: There's a distilled event in April that I'm thinking about already... Our stay included the breakfast buffet at the main lodge. It was OK, nothing I'd pay for if it wasn't included. Apparently the cinnamon rolls are legendary, but that really isn't my thing. My husband enjoyed one and assured me it was worth the carbs. The free shuttle between our cabin and the lodge made getting around VERY easy. The drivers were friendly and made the stay that much more awesome.

Yelp
Amenities: 5 stars Rooms/lodging: 2.5 stars Service: 2.5 stars Stayed here while in town for a family reunion in the area. We rented a 3 bedroom 2 bathroom near the lodge - Nokomis Drive Cabin 160. We liked the large space and that we had a pool table and could all be together. We did not like how dark, cold, and unclean the rooms/living area were. The rooms had closets, but they were essentially unusable due to the lack of lights in them and how generally dark the rooms were. The bathrooms had very poor water pressure and water temperature regulation. The water went from scalding hot to lukewarm constantly - so much so that my father suggested that the water is not up to code to the extent that it could be dangerous for small children. We also found substantial dirt, hair, and most unfortunately, a leftover bachelorette penis straw from a past guest. For the price you are paying, the rooms themselves are in dire need of better cleaning and an upgrade. The amenities at the resort are otherwise fantastic and are the reason to stay here. We enjoyed the restaurants, pools, and lake access.

Grayson T.

Yelp
So we went here for an early 4th of July trip. We drove 2 hours to get there and when we got in the place was a mess. There was chipped paint coming off of all the walls. When we got to one of the bed rooms there was a blood stain on the sheets, and the showers were so dirty. The good parts about this trip are the waterparks and the clean lake. Overall I had a bad experience.

Yelp
Food: The breakfast buffet is fine, but nothing was incredible. However, their steakhouse, Char, was great. I ordered the fish and my boyfriend ordered the sirloin and both were cooked perfectly. We ordered the crab dip and wild rice soup for an appetizer and both were creamy, savory and delicious. Venue: An absolutely BEAUTIFUL property. You can stay on the second floor of a lodge in a traditional hotel room layout or opt for one of the cabins. We stayed in a cabin right on Gull Lake and it was beautiful. A one-bedroom cabin with a small kitchenette and a large bathroom with a two-person tub. The cabin had a working fireplace, separate heating/cooling units for the bedroom and living room, and a TV/DVD player. Experience: We visited GVL in December. There were plenty of activities available for guests; we were able to take a short horse drawn "sleigh" ride, play bingo, swim in the pool, and make s'mores. It was very easy to rent DVDs and there was a wide selection. The spa was truly incredible and I wish I could spend every weekend there! Overall, this is a truly magical place with gorgeous views and a ton of great activities.

Yelp
There are good and bad things about this lodge. First the bad, The bed I slept on was like sleeping in a ditch. Typical of hotels etc. they all tuck their sheets and blankets at the end of the bed so your head is lower than your feet. Also the mattress most likely has never been rotated so there is a big dip at the headboard near the lights. NO RAIN GUTTERS! When we got to the lodge and checked in it was raining. Okay no big deal except the way we had to walk into the cabin the rain from the roof was pouring on the ramp where we had to walk! This ruined a sweater my wife was wearing. One last thing everyone I talked to there seemed to be unhappy with their job. It must be a bad place to work? Now for some good stuff. The cabin was clean when we got there and the view of the lake was great. One problem NO dishes it was paper plate time. Another good thing is there was no trash when we walked around to explore the grounds and the bar in the main lodge area is very unique.

Kelly W.

Yelp
Very nice units, Great Staff. 5 Stars if we would have known the pool area was not available.

Yelp
Went to the Igloo experience. Booked reservation 3 months in advance. Heater was small. Food was good but rather expensive for take out.

Yelp
RUDE & EXTREMELY UNFRIENDLY STAFF - Poor Customer Experience / Treatment CAUTION: Investigate before making a reservation or staying at this lodge. Poor Customer Treatment Comments: This is an extremely pricey place to stay and we knew that going in. What we did not know is how abusive we would be treated by the staff. This was from the hotel check-in / front desk personnel, to the restaurant hostesses and wait staff, to the lake / pool station attendants for towels and beach umbrellas. My family stayed here for 5 nights and spent over $700 a night on just lodging. They did not clean our cottage or collect the garbage ever. Calling or asking in-person the front desk staff questions was always an unpleasant experience. It was an inconvenience for them to answer our questions or offer assistance. The tone of their voices that they used to us was unbelievably rude. We would have checked out early but all the other lodges nearby were sold out. Staying at this lodge where you felt you weren't welcome had a very negative impact on our vacation! This inhospitable attitude must be accepted by top management because it was so widespread. One Standout Employee: We did have one helpful person at the front desk by the name of Zack who desires an A+. Thank you Zack! Cottage Comments: The actual cottage we stayed in was nice and well-equipped. But it should've been for the price that we were paying. Beach Comments: The beach needs to be maintained during the day because there were cigarette butts and dirty diapers. They did clean up the seaweed that washed up on the beach at the end of each day. Overall Comment: This place has potential, but has to fix their customer experience processes and poor staff attitudes toward customers!!! One star is generous when it negatively impacts your annual vacation!!!

Yelp
Grand View Lodge. The views! The people! The magic of forest and lake in beautiful Central Minnesota! My grown children & I rented a 3-bedroom villa near The Pines golf course and completely relaxed over the course of 3 days and 2 nights. The family with kids next door was a nice distance away from us and there is privacy plantings between each unit. The campfire was a special delight for the chilly evening we got to enjoy! The food at the lodge -- The Char House -- was delicious and served quickly by our attentive, though busy, waiter Josh. The wine list is good though not extensive. The desserts (cheesecake, chocolate cake) were fresh and a great topper for the scrumptious meal. (Order the NY Strip. It's worth the extra $$) We were the in late September. The fall foliage was just beginning to turn to it's autumnal hues. I will definitely return -- with or without my kids!

Yelp
This property does not honor Expedia's cancellation policy. Just ripped me off $547.62. I cancelled June 13 my confirmation from Expedia said I would have until June 20 at 6 pm.

Carol M.

Yelp
The facilities/grounds were "grand", but the cabin that we were given was not. We stayed in cabin 160- Main Property- 6 adults for 3 nights. The only information we were given was a paper map. I had to call the front desk later to ask about housekeeping and how to get clean towels. Two of the three bedrooms had one queen bed and the rooms were so small that there wasn't anywhere to put your suitcase unless it was kept closed and upright. Luggage racks were not provided. The mattress platforms for the two smaller bedrooms were not lined up properly with the mattress they supported. One platform stuck out 3 inches from the mattress on the end of the bed and was hidden under the bed ruffle. I hit my ankle on it as I didn't expect a sharp object under the bed ruffle. We had to call for someone to come and adjust the platforms and mattresses in both of these rooms. The bathroom sinks and showers are showing their age. Shower water pressure was quite low and the water temperature was difficult to control. It became scalding hot with a tiny turn of the dial. Not enough towel bars were provided to hang up towels to dry. Only one small bar of soap was provided to use for both washing your hands and taking a shower. We purchased liquid hand soap at the grocery store. Some of the kitchen cabinet doors are warped and can't be closed. The carpeting under the table had a hole in it. The family room has a chair that needs a new seat cushion. If you sat on it, you were literally sitting in an indented hole. The deck had a small metal table with 3 chairs. We never used it due to the rust on the chairs. The wood trim around the doors in the family room is not the same color as the door. There were dirty marks on the walls and scraped areas on the walls that needed to be repainted. . This was not what we expected from a cabin that cost us $852.35 (including taxes) to rent per night. In addition, Grand View's website has some photos of Grand View Cabins- Main Property that were much nicer. Our cabin didn't come close to looking like those photos. Our group traveled from Michigan, California, and Washington, DC to attend a special 100 year family reunion. We decided to celebrate this occasion by treating ourselves to staying in a cabin at Grandview Lodge. I contacted Grand View Lodge early in 2020 to find out when we could book a cabin for July, 2021. On August 17, 2020 we contacted Grand View and booked the only property they had available on main property that had three bedrooms one year in advance of our actual stay. We asked to see photos of the cabin but were told that none were available. What a disappointing stay at Grandview Lodge!!

Yelp
Fabulous in all sense of the word! Fabulous grounds, fabulous accommodations! We stayed in one of the cabins which was fabulous! Loved it! Thank you all.

Yelp
Welcome to Grand View Lodge--where your rental is fully under construction and likely not up to code! TAKE A LOOK AT OUR PHOTOS! We flew from Arizona to be here, and we arrived to a fully fledged construction site. This suite cost THOUSANDS of dollars. We were in disbelief. We have an 18 month old and a 5 year old. There are so many hazards. Nails, unfinished deck, and views that rival nothing but dirt piles and construction caterpillars. The worst part? NO ONE TOLD US. The front desk was not accommodating--tell us we had no options for moving rooms. With a family of nine, paying top dollar, one would think that there would be customer service that would support us in finding an accommodation.

Yelp
We recently stayed at GVL for our anniversary. In the past we have stayed at several of there accommodations both on and off the main property. This time was a nice one bedroom cabin overlooking the lake. The cabin was great with a large bathroom/shower and living area with a gas fireplace. The property is always full of blooming flowers which are ao beautiful. We also visited the new north hotel and pool/spa which are awesome. The only thing that disappointed us on this trip was the fact that they are having issues like everyone else finding workers. Two of the restuarants were shut down and the Northwoods Pub and On the Rocks venues seemed under staffed for the occupancy level at the resort. All that said, I think they are doing the best they can in some challenging times. The resort has a lot of charm and amenities.

Yelp
Our first time here. There were very few wearing masks other than the staff and they were great. The cabin was very nice and clean. For the money having some additional supplies like towels would be great. However the last day of our stay a Trump flag was seen on a boat parked in their marina. If you allow this crap you are complicit. Shame on you.

Yelp
Showed up at this very expensive and upscale resort to find that our room wasn't ready. The check in is 4:30 and we showed up at 4:40, but alas they had a whole 25 rooms to turn over at this resort that has hundreds of rooms and in 5 hours their 5 housekeeping folks that showed up for work could only get 21 of 25 rooms done, of course ours is one of them. That means a team of two people would took 45 min per room, that seems like a lot of time for a hotel room and two people cleaning and still aren't done. So what did they do, they offered us a drink coupon so off to the bar we went, so we sat and waited and when no one came to wait on us we logically went to the bar to order, but the bartender said we had a waitress and needed to wait at our table for service. The waitress shows up and we order a Coke and a bottle beer with a glass. We got the drinks, no glass so we had to go back to the bartender for that, thank heavens she didn't tell us she couldn't provide that either. So it's 5:10 and still no text that our room is ready, guess we can sleep in the bar on a table. The sad thing this isn't our first time here it's our 5th and every time there is something basic that isn't delivered as it should and I'm not talking little things. If it wasn't for the Spa at this place I would never come back. The Spa is awesome and I have never had a bad experience with them or any employees there. GVL charges a ton of money for a luxury experience and you get treated as if you were at a motel 6. They either need to pay more for employees or charge people less if you can't deliver on what you charge people for.

Yelp
I brought 15 people to the De'Vine weekend and some of us were overcharged. After 7 phone calls they offered me gift cards for my trouble-I never received the gift cards. After many more phone calls I still didn't get the gift cards. Finally I wrote a long email to the head person. No response from her. I sent the email to the head of the corporation. No response. I then contacted a person who works there who I know of and asked her to help me and she was told to not communicate with me again. I have never received an apology, no gift cards, no response from the hours I've sent dealing this. Very poor customer relations interaction-to say the least.

Yelp
Worst experience for what is supposed to be a nice relaxing vacation. We rented a 2 bedroom lakeside cabin. After checking in at the main office you have to get back on the highway to get to the cabins. Then you have assigned parking and have to walk a few hundred yards down a small road to get to the cabins. We are a family of 4 so this was very annoying and inconvenient trying to carry luggage through the snow. The second day here and someone parked in our spot and when we told the front desk they rudely told me to park in any open spot and there was nothing they could do about the other car because they don't take license plates. So there solution is just park in someone else's spot and inconvenience more people. This was a very full weekend so not many open spots. We had their breakfast buffet, which according to their website has the biggest spread of foods in the state. Don't believe it. It was nothing more than a 2 star hotel's continental breakfast. Everything was either under cooked or soggy. Definitely not worth the price. Save your money and don't stay here.

Yelp
We've been coming to GVL for a number of years, and have always enjoyed our time there. Having rented various cabins on the property, our favorites have been the little red cabins on Roy Lake. The cabins are well appointed and sit right on the shore, with a dock to park your boat or fish off of. We looked forward to spending another summer (2023), at the cabins again until we found out about the price increase. Due to a new software package GVL uses, which allows GVL to price according to demand, the cabins we've rented over the past years went from $600/night in 2022 to $1000 for 2023, which is outrageous given the condition of the cabins and grounds surrounding the cabins and the limited to no service supplied by GVL after covid hit. The cabins are laid out nicely but are in need of deep cleaning, and the appliances need to be replaced. Outside the cabins, the lake weeds have taken over which renders the beachfront useless other than the dock. I'm all for a business making money, but taking the approach they are taking, it's my opinion it's short sighted and they'll lose repeat customers as they did with our 2 families. JW

Yelp
Beautiful as always. Check-in has changed to a different building so there were about 5 different parties wandering the main lodge with no clue where to go. Luckily some man was in the know and pointed us in the right direction. Our room in the main lodge was great! But as we were leaving I bought a shirt and was overcharged in odd taxes by about $10. We had to go back and it was annoying because we were trying to get on the road. Watch your receipts for hidden fees and taxes that shouldn't be there! Staff said the registers act up sometimes and do that.

Yelp
The North hotel is beautiful but rooms are not very quiet. The door connecting our room to the one next to us might as well not be there, considering how well we can hear the kids in there. And the kids in the room above us running back and forth is super loud. Don't get me wrong - we have kids and they make noise, but I would recommend families pay extra to stay in one of the many cabins at the property for a better shot at peace & quiet.

Yelp
I was lucky enough to enjoy a wonderful dinner at Char. Great food but the absolute best part was my server Iryna- friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, fun. She's the best!!!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I had a great time here. It deserves a 5 Star but I gave it a 4 because of the Jacuzzi tub being broken. We called to get it fixed but an hour later we cancelled the request because we hadn't heard from maintenance. Our view of the lake was great and the staff were nice. The complementary breakfast was delicious as well. We would go back again!

Yelp
We had an unpleasant lunch at the Tanque Terre Cantina. It started by being told that a skinny margarita may be available depending on the mood of the bartender. We had a party of 11 including 4 small children and were told we could not split the orders. Then when the food came, an order was mixed up and the server argued with her customer that that was what he ordered which was incorrect. We had to pay for the mixup with a slight discount. When the final bill arrived we were told we could not break it down and it had to be split 50/50, not even in thirds. Four people in our party ordered substantially less so this was grossly unfair. I have never experienced such a lack of customer service; especially for a resort. To top it off, the food was mediocre.

Yelp
Don't stay in the Lodge! Beautiful grounds, nice amenities -- though they're beginning to nickel and dime a bit with activities -- $25 for paddle boarding was a little excessive when you're already paying to stay. Lodge rooms need a complete reno. Our room didn't lock, and the sink leaked water everywhere. Shabby, shabby, shabby and not well kept. Not a room I'd be satisfied with on the road for a Hilton Garden Inn; certainly not good for the premier MN lake resort. Will try a cabin next time ...

Yelp
Well, not starting out very well. Check in is at 4:30, it is 5:15pm and no rooms are ready. Bunch of guests hovering around the registration desk. I spoke with assist manager and nothing he can do. Offered a reduced rate to guest in front of us but not to us. Have stayed at Madden's several times and room is always ready prior to check in.

Yelp
I attended a wedding here, but did not stay at their cabins. It was a beautiful site for a wedding! I was nervous for all the girls and bride to come down all those stairs, but it seemed easy for them as they made a grand entrance to the grassy area. The bride and groom had the water and trees as their backdrop-jaw dropping! The reception area was large and I we didn't feel cramped like most venues where you seem to be bumping elbows while youo eat. Lastly, the bathrooms were awesome with 20 or so stalls in the ladies room, so there never was a line! Some cons-It was difficult to see and the entire wedding, while short, we could not actually see the bride and groom. Also, during the entire ceremony, the resort vans and golf carts were making all kinds of noise driing around the ceremony site.

Yelp
We were married at Grand View Lodge in the Heritage Room on January 11, and it was truly magical! Our accommodations were incredible, the staff was friendly and efficient, our dinner was exceptional (everyone commented on how amazing the food was, and serving that many people is not an easy feat!), the dessert table was like something out of a magazine, and we also ate dinner at both Char and Cru during out long weekend there and both were top notch in food and service! We plan to spend our anniversary at Grand View every January, and now have both sides of our family planning holiday and reunion vacations there. Grand View Lodge lives up to it's reputation as the best resort in the Midwest, it truly exceeded our expectations!
