GRANDE ÉTOILE I Düsseldorf

A balmy summer night in a small Greek-style atrium setting with excellent food, wine, and company. 👉 @grande_etoile_restaurant 📍 Bastionstraße 16, 40213 Düsseldorf The food was life-changing - a true explosion of flavor in your mouth. I had the following that I can recommend: 1️⃣ Starter: house-marinated wild salmon fillet with hollandaise cream and cucumber ginger chutney 2️⃣ Main course: veal fillet wrapped in bacon, fried in sage butter, served with sauce au relais, ratatouille, and cream polenta 3️⃣ Desert: cheese selection with fig mustard, grapes, nuts, and fruit bread The wine list and the selected wines were also a real delight: 1️⃣ Chardonnay "Les Frènes" from the Domaine Guinand, Pays d'Oc, 2023 2️⃣ Beerenauslese "Red Roses" from the Kracher Winery, Burgenland, 2020 The service was very polite. I can recommend the restaurant Grande Ètoile without reservation, because everything was incredibly delicious! Thank you!

We celebrated a birthday and anniversary with 11 people, spending nearly €1800, but were very disappointed with the service. Staff refused to help with balloons, charged €5 per plate just to serve the cake—€55 for plates alone. They kept lowering the music in our room, and no one came to our table to take payment—we had to go to the counter ourselves. The bill was incorrect, and we had to recalculate everything. We were even overcharged for water. The food was good, but the experience was frustrating and unprofessional.

From the moment we stepped into the elegant ambiance, we knew we were in for a special evening. The décor was exquisite, creating a sophisticated and intimate atmosphere. The service was impeccable. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel like VIPs. He expertly guided us through the menu, offering helpful suggestions and ensuring that our every need was met. The food was simply outstanding. Each dish was a masterpiece of flavor and presentation. We started with a delectable appetizer, followed by a main course that was cooked to perfection. The dessert was the perfect ending to our meal, a sweet and indulgent treat. Overall, our experience at GRANDE ÉTOILE I was exceptional.

Didn’t deliver on a 4.5 star rating; Austern were not fresh; Tatar was so mixed up you couldn’t taste the meat (that’s the goal behind Tatar!) and service didn’t come for a second drink. Needed to pay at the exit

⭐Grand Etoile Has Gone Completely Downhill I genuinely don’t know what happened to Grand Etoile, but the place has taken a massive nosedive. The service was an absolute disaster — truly catastrophic. We were seated at the very last table in the back, basically forgotten by the staff. Our server seemed brand new and completely overwhelmed, and no one else was paying any attention to us. We were a group of four, yet they set the table for two. They brought water quickly, but then we waited an absurd amount of time for the wine, with zero communication or awareness from the staff. At one point, we politely asked for a frozen margarita, and the bartender responded in the most unprofessional way — literally shooting back, “No, no, no, I don’t do that,” with an attitude. This was shocking, especially since I’ve ordered it several times before without any issue. And that’s exactly the problem: when Pascal is there, everything is handled with class, organisation, and genuine hospitality. He is a top-tier waiter — the kind of person who makes a restaurant worth returning to. Unfortunately, he wasn’t there during this visit, and the difference was night and day. Without him, the service fell apart completely. Yesterday was an absolute disappointment. But honestly, the worst part? The atmosphere. Grand Etoile used to feel elegant — classy people, a refined ambiance. Now it feels cheap and trashy. The crowd has completely changed: loud, squirt-type behavior, people taking selfies with blinding bright lights, and an overall vibe that destroys what the restaurant once was. Grand Etoile is no longer the sophisticated place it used to be. Between the chaotic service and the tacky atmosphere, it’s simply not worth it anymore.

Excellent quality food. Worth the try of fine dining experience in Dusseldorf. Representation of the food was exquisite! Top quality food. One more important thing to add, if you're looking for nice delicious non alcoholic cocktails, this is the place to be!

High quality French restaurant with amazing atmosphere and fine dining. DJs performing and a cosy and at the same time elegant ambiance. I would definitely recommend the outside terrace. Not many spaces- reserve yours in advance!
