10 Perfectly Delicious Pit Stops Between Los Angeles and Palm Springs

"Find Granlund’s 10 minutes away from the 10 Freeway near Redlands. The dining room’s slightly dated decor contains ample pink, bright colors, and faux flowers, but also packs charm. The menu includes salads, quiche, lasagna, breakfast classics, cakes, pastries, and a notable Tex-Mex turkey melt." - Mona Holmes

Oh man, this place was absolutely a hidden gem I never expected to stumble upon. It felt like stepping into Alice in wonderland's tea shop but the whole atmosphere was filled with flowers! It's such a perfect place for photos. If you're a picture taker or just want a cute place to share to your Facebook/Instagram, this is definitely the place 💕🥰

This is the best decorated restaurant ever. The French toast was amazing.

I lived within a block's walking distance of this place for years before I finally decided to visit for lunch with my fiancé one day. I really wish the food was better. It was very cute inside, and our server was great, but I did not expect to get Campbell's chicken noodle soup (seriously, right down to the exact same shaped noodles and cubes of chicken) when I ordered an $8 bowl of chicken soup. Later on my fiancé told me it seemed like the server emphasized the homemade nature of their vegetable soup, and I should've gotten that, but alas. My entree was not much better. A very basic lasagna - I hate to make another basic label comparison but Stouffer's lasagna is better than the meal I received. My fiancé ordered the meatloaf sandwich and said it was bland. Even my Coke tasted a little off - I've worked food service some years myself, and it tasted like maybe the syrups needed a deep cleaning. I won't be coming back. Kudos to the server for trying to warn me about the soup.

Google
I really liked the bread, the turkey breast and the pasta! The turkey was not dry!!! Which is a huge win for me because I am picky for that sort of stuff. The pasta wasn't swimming in oil or exploding with seasonings. Its was absolutely perfect and delish!!! The lovely server was amazing too! On the phone and when I went in for pickup. Awesome service and food, ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!

Beautiful purple wood interior. Excellent food. And live music coming for the first time Sunday December 1. I’m looking forward to that.

Yelp
This place is a vibe, food has a home made taste to it. Would come back to try other menu items.

Yelp
This restaurant is adorable, but that's where the buck stops. I came in with some girl friends on a Saturday morning. We were seated immediately and asked what drinks we wanted. I ordered a coffee. Our drinks came after ten minutes of waiting and mine tasted like warm dish water. That should have been our first warning to leave. We then waited another ten minutes before they asked us what we wanted to order. I ordered the chili relleno. The dish was fabulous, but it took over 45 minutes for our food to come. If a dish takes that long, a warning would have been nice. There were two waitresses working at the time, but they barely came to check in on our party.

Yelp
The atmosphere was amazing, warm and friendly. My wife and I were there this morning and had a delicious breakfast. The coffee was fantastic . We both had the butter pecan waffles with bacon and eggs. I would definitely recommend.

Yelp
This cute little restaurant makes you feel like you've been transported back in time, and I mean that in the BEST way! The restaurant is super cute and decorated for the holiday/season, I really LOVE this! They really go all out on the decorations. Friendly staff is always a plus and this spot had the best service! We met the owner & it really is a nice touch to have anyone who runs a restaurant, come out to see how you liked your food and your visit. They're only open for breakfast & lunch, we'll need to come back as we only tried the breakfast and it was delicious! I had the eggs Benedict & my fiancé had eggs (cooked to perfection) and bacon. Oh, did I mention they offer tea parties?! There was a place in Orange County that offered tea parties but they closed, good to know there's a place in the Inland Empire to go too.

Cassie T.

Yelp
Service was good enough. I just wanted a side salad and chili for lunch. Was a bit bummed when it came out to be $21 for just that and neither item ordered was a large portion,l to justify the price.

Thomas C.

Yelp
This restaurant is a bit on the gourmet side with portions at the appropriate level for someone who's trying to not overeat My turkey sandwich was very healthy, because the lack of condiments or the bread had cranberries and nuts in it The ambience is very nice and I enjoyed my first time here in probably over a decade I won't wait so long next time

Yelp
Went with a large party (16) for breakfast- made reservations but in spite of that upon arrival wasn't prepared for our group. Restaurant is quaint and beautifully decorated- they also serve an afternoon tea which I feel it's probably more suited for. Service was slow- wait staff seemed inexperienced. I ordered eggs Benedict which I had to send back cause the eggs were extremely over cooked. Meals came out slowly and some guests were almost finished before others received their meals. Had to ask for coffee refills. Prices are reasonable. Plenty of free street parking. Outside seating available. Staff were nice but unorganized.

Yelp
Excellent service and the ambience was so cute, great for a small bridal shower or gathering

Yelp
What a pleasant surprise this place was. It looks really fancy on the outside. It is really nice on the inside with flowers everywhere. We were the only ones here. The food was crazy good. I really tried to find something to nitpick about, but couldn't. The eggs, bacon, potatoes and French toast were all done perfectly. The salsa is crazy good. And the jalapeño cheese toast is really good. The server was very nice. It has a very nice ambiance. Like you are eating in a garden. We both ate for less than $30. Unheard of today. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
This little restaurant is a gem. Lovely decor, friendly staff. This is a small business so if you are in a big hurry or want a high level of service, please go to a chain restaurant. Our breakfasts were delicious and the decor is ornate but really fun. Give this please a try and help out our small business owners!

Yelp
The place was cute and full of flowers inside. The food was ok, i expected more from my relleno and it was made so different and weird to be paired with bread. The tea was stash from a tea bag and no actual tea experience here. The desserts were better, the lemon was so refreshing! The service needed to be better and we had to ask for everything. The place could be more popular with a few tweaks.

Yelp
Love Granlunds. Always a good experience and good food. It's my favorite little hideaway for lunch, but haven't yet tried it for breakfast. That's on my list of things to do.

Yelp
A very quaint atmosphere with hospitable reception and kind service. We enjoyed ourselves and the food was fair. Hope to return to try some ice cream.

Yelp
Was here a year ago and gave it 5 stars but I will never go back here again. Food was still good but I have 2 complaints about the owner. I ordered a sandwich and opted for jalapeño on it that was an extra 1.50. When I received my sandwich it had Ortega chilies on it which was another option. I finally got the owners attention and said I had asked for jalapeños she said no, you asked for Ortega I said NO I asked for Jalapeños. She left to go get them and my friend said you definitely said Jalapeños! When she came back she very roughly put them on the table and walked away without a word. The second complaint I have about her is the 3 of us asked for separate checks and when it was time to pay, she had it on one. I reminded her and she rudely replied, "well you can figure it out if you have cash." Very bad customer service on both issues!!!

Yelp
Such an adorable place and the best breakfast offerings. Service was great and my husband and I enjoyed sitting on the patio with our little chihuahua sipping coffee for a leisurely morning.

Yelp
Ambiance wonderful. Salads awful and very expensive. They were not served as described on menu. Chunks of banana on a spinach salad...? Sesame orange salad... no sesame, no crisp noodles, no orange glaze on the dry cubes of chicken... Mainly bunch of lettuce on both with minimal additions not at all as appetizing as menu indicated. Very disappointing in all. Service friendly.

Tracy M.

Yelp
We have been here several times and never had a single complaint. The lady who owns it is very nice. The place is decorated so nicely. That being said, we were very disappointed with the quality of the food and the service. This time.. The young man who took our order was ok not rude by any means but not friendly and the older gentleman who bought our food barely acknowledged us or smiled at all.. The lady was friendly. My husband ordered Ice Tea but never received it. On to the food it was not good at all the croissant was hard and the hollaindise sauce was not good. The prices were reasonable and the place gets a 10 for cleanliness . The last time we came I think I gave it a 5 star review so maybe it was just a bad day.. I can handle bad food if the service is warm and friendly and you feel welcome! I work for a company whose main focus is Customer Service so maybe that's why it is important to me. I am all for small business and I realize it's hard work so ramp up the customer service a bit by making the customers feel like you value them and work on the food just a little and I know that this will be the five Star business it was the last time I visited.

Kat C.

Yelp
This sweet little restaurant did not disappoint. It was clean and lovingly decorated. The food was ample and delicious. Our server was on point and kind. Even asked us if the music was too loud, it was a bit--she turned it down for us (we were the only two patrons in the place--for awhile). I'd go back for breakfast anytime. Eggs Benedict, crispy potatoes for me. French toast, bacon and eggs for my daughter.

Yelp
Had my engagement here! Absolutely wonderful! The food was amazing. The decor is always amazing. The service was 10/10! The owner is the sweetest lady ever. I will be returning for my bridal shower and many other future events

Yelp
My family and I have been here a few times within the last year and all the experiences have been consistent. Food taste and presentation have been good. The preparation of the food does take a little bit, but I'm not sure if that's because it is being freshly prepared or because of the lack of help. Sometimes you walk in and the hostess is also the waitress and the cook. (I think the owner is this person) While I will continue to go here, it will not be on a day that I don't have the time or patience to wait. Because sometimes it take 5-10 minutes to just get a drink order in.

Ron K.

Yelp
food is as expected. Service terrible seems they are mad u bothered them. We tried it will not be going back Oh and the guy waving the sign around on Yuciapa Blvd. was a joke I had to stop and ask him where is this place. hes waving it around pointing to who know where

Yelp
Try Granlunds for a beautiful and delicious breakfast experience ! Hidden in downtown Yucaipa.

Toni G.

Yelp
Such a great restaurant! Super stylish, clean and the service was awesome! I had the chicken chili and my daughter had the French dip and both were so yummy. We also had tea, so many flavors to choose from! We agreed we will be back and can't wait to introduce it to our friends and family!

Yelp
My partner and I absolutely love Granlund's ! Their food is amazing and the staff is very attentive and professional. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Try the Lasagna It's amazing !

Joel M.

Yelp
Nice ambiance , great food , total mom and pop shop. Felt as if my grandmother cooked me a fresh meal. Recommend the veggie quiche with veggie soup or the lasagna

Chrissy J.

Yelp
I love eating at Granlunds. The food is delicious. They serve breakfast and lunch. The decor is so cute and makes for a warm, happy atmosphere. I would highly recommend eating here.

Yelp
The food is 3 out of 5. The Sonora breakfast was OK. Tasted like it was just reheated. My mom's weird tuna melt was awful the tuna taste like it was made a couple days ago and they give you pasta salad side, and that was awful. The oil tasted like it was old or not the right oil to be made with pasta salad it was not edible. My mom got the "homemade" corn chowder from a can. Every serving dish we got was not clean they all had a film on them including the silverware. The service was OK but we had to keep asking and looking for people to help us. There was only three people there. The coffee tasted a little off as well like the coffee maker hadn't been cleaned and they made fresh for coffee on top of it. I had this marked off on my list of places to try in Yucaipa for months now, and was really excited because of all the other reviews I've read. I have to be honest the food and service was just not there. I'm not too bothered about the service if the food tasted good. The place is really beautifully decorated and has so much potential. $44 and the only thing we could eat was the sanora and some corn chowder the rest was not edible. I should've known better, never ordered tuna from any place. Again, I really wanted to like this place, but it just did not hit the mark, especially for a privately own business.

Yelp
My daughter and I went there for lunch. Place had 3 other parties besides us. 1 more came in after us. After being taken to the farthest table to the back, she gave us menus and left. Not sure if she's a server or the owner. She tended to all 3 other parties, even the man that came after us, but not us. She took the man's drink, took his order, at this point we were done looking at the menu, waited another 5 minutes...we made eye contact and she tended to the other parties again. She didn't even offer us a glass of water. We waited 15- 20 minutes after being seated and since we got completely ignored we left. Perhaps she was busy, overwhelmed...I don't know but for her to take the time to bring that man his drink (ice tea) and take his order and he came in AFTER US is completely rude.

Yelp
I have driven from Orange County to this unique restaurant multiple times. It has never disappointed. For the negative reviews, please be grateful to have an open restaurant. It would've been a great loss if the restaurant had succumbed like many from covid closures. Eateries are still suffering post pandemic in getting adequate help. Upon entering you are hit with not just a vintage atmosphere, but it's beautifully decorated per season. I prefer non-chain restaurants, stepping back in time, surrounded by charm and a quaint atmosphere, quiet, with soothing background music. Such places are hard to find, but Grandlund's is still such a place. The owner is very sweet, personable and welcoming. The food is delicious, freshly made, comfort food, generous portions, with a variety of options. The cake choices are good portions and simply delicious. The menu is very reasonably priced. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, or just a sweet treat, Granlund's has something for everyone.

Yelp
We had such a memorable time at Grandlands's restaurant!!! We had the tea party and all of us dressed up for the occasion it was my mothers birthday. We couldn't have chose a better place everything was perfect from the time we contacted the owner Maria for reservations up until I the end of our outing. The service was excellent the venue was very welcoming and beautiful the table with set up with China and the service came perfectly! Everybody should take the opportunity to reserve a tea party I will post pictures it was the best day of my mothers birthdays and she will remember always!!

Yelp
I've lived in Yucaipa for years and just ate here last week with my girlfriend. I've read so many good reviews about the food and service and everyone was right! From my first impression to my way out the door, I definitely will be visiting here more often in the future. I love how clean it is and considering it's very heavily decorated, there's no dust!!! I'm a freak for a clean restaurant. Maria the owner is a wonderful hostess and her food is fresh and presented beautifully. Can't wait to try more menu items!!!

Melissa C.

Yelp
Quiet and nice place to go. The owner Maria is very nice. Food is delicious and quantities are splendid.

Rick D.

Yelp
Cute place, good service, very friendly. Food was good, okay but nothing real special. We enjoyed it though. It is small so bear that in mind. If you have a big group it might be a challenge.

Amanda M.

Yelp
My husband and I were really excited to try this place as it's super cute on the inside. Unfortunately, we didn't get to try it since we were completely ignored. When we arrived, we were unsure if it's a seat-your-self place or if we need to wait for staff to seat us. There were no signs or any staff in sight. So we just kind of hung around the front and waited. And we waited. And waited. And waited. And waited some more. Finally we saw a worker come out and deliver food to a table right in front of us who then turned around and walked away. We were completely ignored. That was the point when we decided to turn around and leave and take our business elsewhere. Definitely left a bad impression.

Nicholas R.

Yelp
Unfortunately, I am leaving a 1 star because my wife and I wanted to try this place, but were unable to. The place is so adorable and really cool, but unfortunately, when we walked in and waited at the front, not a single person who works there was in view. We weren't sure if it is self-seating or someone comes by to seat you. There wasn't any sign, so we waited awkwardly. Finally, we see a young guy come out delivering food, but doesn't acknowledge us at all. He delivers the food and then just turns around ignoring us. We were only about 8 feet away from this guy. We tried to get his attention but he just walks back to the kitchen. By this point we had been standing there for 15 minutes. We said screw it, and left to go somewhere else. I would still like to give this a try but unfortunately it was a bad first experience.

Yelp
Enjoyed a very nice breakfast here this morning. The service was great, the atmosphere was calm, and the restaurant was very clean. We had the French toast and omelette. Both were delicious. The prices were fair. Granlund's is a hidden gem with all the home town feels of Yucaipa. We will be back to try the lunch menu soon. Thank you Granlund's!
google avatar

Max G.

Yelp
Found a New little spot for lunch! We had the whole place to ourselves. The owner was on top of it all, taking our order, serving, cooking and refilling our drinks! Shoutout to her for keeping it alive. That Tex Mex Sandwich though... Bomb!
google avatar

Jesse D.

Yelp
Great breakfast this morning at Granlunds in Yucaipa! We met the owner Maria, who was so nice! Delicious & affordable food! Plus beautiful, classic decor! Please support this terrific local business!
google avatar

Monique B.

Yelp
Every time we have come here the food as been really good! My complaints are how slow service is and the "orange juice." Every time we have come, we have either been the only people in there or maybe one or two other tables of people and it still takes a very long time to get service. While I normally wouldn't care, it's very difficult if you have children. So I advise you to not come if you have young children. Also, for breakfast we ordered orange juice and it was tang we were charged a crazy amount for watered down tang. Overall, the food is awesome though!
google avatar

Angel V.

Yelp
we drove 50 minutes only to see it was closed despite the hours open until 3pm!!!!! owner says oh sorry i have a private party! then change your hours on google to reflect that!!!!! now my husband and i who both have low blood sugar and the shakes are really at a inconvenience!!!! she is not a responsible owner!!!!!
google avatar

Mandy C.

Yelp
This is one of my mom's favorite spots. She loves how cute it's decorated and especially for Christmas. We went for a birthday celebration for breakfast. We had the Sonoran enchiladas, Belgian waffle, and hot chocolates. It was all soo good! The breakfast potatoes are so crispy and delicious. I'll probably be craving this again!
google avatar

Cat Toast O.

Yelp
This used to be a great place to eat. Right now it looks like it's a one-man show and the food takes forever to come out. The toast was hard. The worst part was seeing this poor woman having to see everyone take orders go back and cook and do everything all by herself. She really needs some on-call emergency help plus they refused to turn on the heater It was freezing in there which made the whole experience miserable. It was warmer outside than it was inside the restaurant all we wanted to do was hurry up eat and get home hot really hard enjoy yourself if you're sensitive to cold don't come here! If not having enough help and refusing to turn on the heater for the customers which is illegal it's her way of saving money all she's doing is losing business. I was under the impression that Reynolds or some type of German or European restaurant and it didn't have anything like that it was just plain old boring food you get a Denny's.
google avatar

Nyleene G.

Yelp
My husband brought me here after I found this place on Yelp. It is soooo cute . Perfect place for my birthday breakfast. I had the waffles with bacon and eggs. My husband had the pancakes with bacon and eggs . We shared a side of the potatoes. Everything was good and good portions . The owner Maria is so nice and it's only here and maybe another worker , so be patient. It was definitely worth the wait and a great way to support small local business. I will be back for sure !
google avatar

David James H.

Yelp
A one-woman show, still trying to make it during the COVID-19 outbreak! She even offers spaghetti. Not bad considering the many Mexican and traditional breakfast dishes.

Jamie A.

Yelp
Cutest little place and the food was delicious! My favorite was the chicken chili. Maria was extremely kind and attentive.

Diana C.

Yelp
A small and quaint place. We went on a Saturday at 11am and it wasn't overly crowded. Service was quick and the food was good. Nice atmosphere and a fun change of scenery.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
Mediocre food and slow service. This place once had ice cream and chocolates, not anymore. It would be nice to have fries with my sandwich.

Jane D.

Yelp
Went here for a baby shower, it was decorated so very cute. Lunch was hard to chose they do have an extensive menu however unfortunately I have a celiac, egg and dairy intolerance so it was hard to find something I could eat. I chose a spinach salad with a strawberry dressing and the vegetable soup. I was very sick from something in one of those items. I did make the waitress aware of my food restrictions before I ordered and she assured me there was no dairy, eggs and or gluten in any of those items. However within an hour I knew I had eaten something I shouldn't have. So if you have food restrictions I'd suggest maybe a different restaurant. As cute as the place was I won't be able to return since there nothing I can eat there.
