Granny's Donuts

Granny's is the best place for doughnuts in Aberdeen. They have a large selection and they are so delicious and fresh. Can't say the same for the big chain store across the street.

Randomly drove by here today, had to make a stop I love a good bakery and donut it’s been one of my cravings this pregnancy. I got to meet one of the owners she was so Sweet and helpful, they are a lil pricey for a half dozen but I guess that’s this day and age. I got an apple fritter and a half a dozen one strawberry with a smiley face, one chocolate with a smiley face for my kids and red velvet, strawberry, old-fashioned, and raspberry and strawberry filled. The apple fritter is the size of my head. It was crispy and chewy only bad thing I could say I wish I had more apples. The raspberry donut was filled so voluptuously, but the strawberry did not have a lot of filling. The strawberry cake donut kind of taste a little artificial I think if they use freeze dried strawberries that would fix that taste overall they’re good quality mom and Pop donut shop that you don’t see too often. If I come in the area again I’ll definitely stop by.

Tasty, warm doughnuts with a moderate selection to choose from. Service was quick and polite. Store is off the main road and is somewhat small, assuring they are a privately owned, small business. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars, and call me old fashion or out dated, I just don't think two dozen doughnuts should cost forty dollars. Other than that, this place really good and would recommend.

Grabbed a dozen assorted donuts for a client in the area and they loved them. Got me a apple filled glazed donut for the Road and it was very tasty. Staff was very friendly and multitasking between counter and the drive thru surprisingly well. Ice cream looked good but didn't sample any.

Great place to get some donuts. The price was great for a dozen & a dozen holes. The lady working today was really sweet too.

Favorite donut shop in all of Moore County! I always come in with my kids on Friday morning, the staff is so welcoming and kind! And the donuts are absolutely delicious. Amazing variety and everything is always super fresh!

Delicious donuts and friendly service! My sister has been telling me about the is place and I haven't had a chance to try during my visits to NC. She mentioned it's a locally family owned shop that is a staple of the area. Finally this weekend lined up perfectly, so I stopped by here at 10:30 am on a Friday and they were SOLD OUT. So definitely get there EARLY or call in advance to hold donuts. Cici, the owner, was kind enough to show me a menu and explain that calling ahead definitely helps. Determined to try these donuts, called ahead before 8 am on a Saturday to hold a half dozen donuts and it was worth it! My favorites were the blueberry cake donut, chocolate cake donut, and old fashioned glazed, but everything was delicious. When I went to pick up the donuts, Cici remembered me from the other day and was so nice! I only wish that I ordered more and brought them back home with me - now that I'm back in VA, I'm missing these donuts! Definitely the best donuts ever

Large and unique selection of donuts. These are delicious. You don't find many places that make old fashion yeast donuts anymore. They have a large selection of cake donuts too. Friendly service and great prices.

Got a half dozen of glazed donuts this morning, and they just aren't the same.. very dry and dense.. not the granny's donuts I remembered. They also got rid of my fav donut, so. Sad

These are the best donuts in the Aberdeen/Southern Pines area there's no competition. The donuts are always fresh and the employees are so kind to my daughter when she walks in. They are a family owned business that is doing it right. Yes they run out of donuts but what do you expect when they're the best. You snooze you lose (I know personally). My daughter doesn't let me forget when it's Granny Donut Sunday and for good reason.

used to chase the donut truck around till I bought a half dozen and the oil was bad and couldn't eat them. No refund no apology! fuck em!

My husband saw their donut truck making donuts and decided we HAD to check them out. (Who doesn't love fresh hot donuts?!) probably the best donuts we've ever had. Hot, gooey, and slightly crispy-- they were melt in your mouth good They didn't have any other flavors except plain, but it was donut perfection. I wouldn't have got others flavors if they had them: why mess up a perfect thing? Our biggest mistake was splitting one to share between us. It's one of the biggest regrets of my life. HANDS DOWN ABSOLUTELY THE BEST DONUTS IN TOWN!!!!!!! **Important Note** They ARE open on Sundays! Wednesdays-Sundays from 6am-3pm or until they run out of donuts. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Granny's donuts is located just passed Dunkin Donuts right next to the car wash. When you pull up to the building, it's just a typical normal brick donut shop building with some parking. They also have a drive-thru, perfect if you just want to grab and go. If you want to enjoy your donut there, the inside of the shop also has a few tables and chairs for seating. They have a wide variety of donuts with reasonable pricing! Our favorites are the chocolate glazed, long John's, chocolate bars glazed with cream cheese, smiley face donuts, strawberry glazed with sprinkles, chocolate glazed with sprinkles, and all the jelly filled donuts! If you like/love jelly filled donuts, Granny's donuts do NOT shy away from the filling! They also offer coffee, hot cocoa, and some refrigerated beverages. Customer service is ALWAYS awesome! We LOVE the owner, Bee! She is the sweetest! She is also polite and always professional! These donuts are literally the best donuts in town and I always recommend every single person to stop by and try them. Thank you!

No one compares to Granny's! You can taste the freaking love they put into making these donuts. Seriously, they can't be beat.

I had my first Granny's Donut when someone brought a dozen into work, and I couldn't stop thinking about them! I woke up early on a Sunday - we got there at around 8 to make sure we got some before they sold out. They have a drive thru window and a ton of donuts freshly made. Prices are very reasonable and it's hard to not buy too many. The staff is super friendly and helpful and I'm so sad we didn't find this place sooner!

So, I'm a huge donut fan and in our home town we actually have a small donut shop that is hard to beat no matter where you. But, this shop and their donuts are crazy good!!!! I would eat a dozen myself and not regret a single bit. I will tell you to get there earlier rather than later because when they are out they are out, so I would get there no later than 7 or 8am; seriously. If love donuts and think you have had the best donut, you haven't until you had Granny's donuts!

To update my previous review: I have been back to this store. There are new employees working there and they have been very helpful. Also these are arguably the best donuts in Aberdeen. Two reasons for 4 stars now versus an update to 5 stars: 1) they sell out of donuts very fast and haven't yet decided to start making more every morning 2) they sometimes randomly close

Great fresh donuts. they run out fast in the mornings though. Totally worth the time to try. Glazed melt in your mouth. Fresh every day!!!!

Great donuts and terrific service at a unique local business --that's a win/win! We pre-ordered donuts and donut holes by phone and received courteous, helpful assistance. The order was ready at the appointed time, fresh and delicious. We'll be back.

I had a raspberry filled donut and a chocolate filled croissant! The croissant was so incredible and indulgent, VERY CHOCOLATELY! But if you're like me then it was perfect!

After the reopening of Granny's everything is great again. If only they didn't sell out of donuts so early. You need to get there before 9:00 am if you want specialty donuts. They should make two batches.

OH MY GOODNESS! Went there this morning before our round of golf. Cream cheese donut was unbelieveable. Also got a dozen glazed donut holes, and they blew Dunkin Donut "Munchkins" away. That cream cheese donut was probably the best donut I've ever eaten. You have got to try this place. (go early, when they are out of donuts, they close)

I got there mid morning and while the selection had dwindled the donuts were fresh and delicious. Perfect size, done to perfection!!

If you have had a doughnut from Granny's then you already know they are the best. If you haven't then you are probably visiting the area or new... now that you know about Granny's you are well on your way to become a true local! When you come to Granny's I highly recommend trying a doughnut that you have never had before, don't worry, it will be delicious... The maple syrup doughuts and the cream cheese ones are AMAZING! Be sure to show up early, Granny runs out of her doughnuts almost every single day!

Great doughnuts! I have to go everytime that I go to Aberdeen because its a MUST! I will even leave the house extra early because once they run out, their done for the day, they are usually out of doughnuts by 12 or so. The cream cheese doughnut is pretty much the best thing ever, and the maple glazed is pretty great too, but even the original glazed doughnuts are fantastic, and they are all at GREAT prices! Fresh doughnuts made daily, friendly/ helpful staff, and great prices. Cant beat it. :)

Granny must be crankin' out some pretty magnificent doughnuts, but I guess I'll never know unless I should find my way back to Aberdeen again for some reason. Was passin' through town & thought I'd swing by and check this joint out, walked in the door at 10:05am & not a doughnut to be found, just empty cases with crumbs in the bottom, like a doughnut ghost town. I was late to the party I guess. I get it that they only make a limited amount of doughnuts for the day, but dang, sold out at 10:05am & I saw another reviewer encountered the same issue around the same time. There were probably 10 or 12 cars pulling in the parking lot while I was there. The funny thing is you have to turn beside a Dunkin Donuts & go about 2 blocks down a side street to get here, you can't see it from the main Hwy. I actually drove through Dunkys parking lot to get here because I missed the street to turn on. The only thing left in the whole place were about 3 blueberry muffins, about 6 banana nut muffins & probably 6 bran muffins, none of which I was interested in. My mom was onboard with me & she bought a blueberry muffin, said she hated to not buy anything. The muffins aren't anything over the top, about the size of a cupcake, ma said hers seemed kinda stale, I don't think folks come here for the muffins anyway. There's a great article you can see online about Granny's Donuts that was featured in "Our State" magazine, I found it after the visit when I got home searching to see if they had a website. That article is great & the reason they get 5 stars even though I didn't get any doughnuts. Get here early if you wanna get in on this doughnut action & check out that article.

Granny's donuts lives up to their reputation! Great and delicious donuts! Came in for the first time during their power outage but they were so nice and helpful! Definitely give this place a shot! Good prices too, we got a dozen.

The best donuts anywhere, made the old fashioned way with care and consistency. I've never been disappointed. Weekends are their busiest times, so arrive before 11 or your favorite variety might be sold out. Glazed donuts and donut holes are the biggest sellers, but apple fritters and cinnamon rolls are most likely to sell out. Not surprisingly, back when Nascar raced at Rockingham, legendary drivers and crew chiefs would often stop in for breakfast.

A totally home town favorite...locals love it...they close when the donuts are done...Granny comes in @ 5AM & makes all the yummy goodies for the day :)

THE best doughnuts EVER! I had my first in the eighties...hand made, tender, big and not too sweet. I still love these doughnuts better than any others. Sandra's bakery in Sanford,NC is a close 2nd place if you are in the area.

Been buying donuts there for about a year. Seems to be going downhill. Last week I only got 11 instead of a dozen. This week I got a dozen cinnamon powdered and they only had powder on the edges. Guess it time to find a new donut place. Hate to see this one go, used to be so good.

If you want the best donuts in town look no further than Granny's Donuts. This small town donut store offers wide variety of donuts at incredible prices. An added bonus is the its open early.

These donuts are better than Dunkin donuts and Tim Hortons because the dough used at Granny's is fresh but the flavors at Granny's are bland when compared to many newer privately owned donut shops. I would suggest that the management put higher quality ingredients into their fillings, fruit, chocolate, etc. It may not be fair for me to compare this to more modern places that focus on using legitimately rich cacao and less filler in their fruit, as Granny's definitely has a classic image, but honestly the new era of donuts has shown us all that the quality of ingredients and strength and diversity of flavor is so important that older, classic donuts aren't worth the calories anymore. The staff is very nice and the experience is very pleasant, I just found the flavors boring and bland. But if you like old fashioned, this place is perfect for you.

My company is headquartered in Southern Pines, and I dread the lengthy drive down there, taking some solace in the knowledge that it is around the bend from this delightful doughnut shop. I arrived around 8:45, and the selection still seemed fully stocked. I arranged for six, trying an apple fritter, alongside raspberry-filled, frosted, and cake donuts. Fancy donut places back home do flavors ranging from innovative to bizarre, and are sometimes overly sweet or disappointingly dry. But here, you'll get only the tried-and-true basics... and for a far better price. For freshness, taste, and value, they get high marks in my book.

I first experienced Granny's Doughnuts while at Steve Jones Honda waiting for some repair work to be done on my car. Complimentary coffee is ONE thing, but DOUGHnuts? And, even chocolate cake ones. I was in heaven and just HAD to ask one of the Honda workers where the delicious donuts came from. I visit my daughter in Southern Pines and we had seen the store, but it was always closed. We later discovered that when the doughnuts are gone, the store closes. So, the last time I visited, we were determined to get up early so we could actually buy some doughnuts. So many types and flavors. It was difficult to decide. Ended up consuming WAY more doughnuts then was necessary, but it was worth it and I would highly recommend Granny's Doughnuts to anyone who appreciates baked goods made-from-scratch. You won't be disappointed. Just remember to arrive before the doughnuts are gone.

No grannys here, just hardworking young ladies. The donuts are good and not mass produced like in the grocery store. Can be difficult to find the store because it is off the beaten path.

Just plain old fashioned doughnuts that are always fresh and made to perfection. This place doesn't pretend to be pretentious and something that it's not. You won't find blood orange and lavender this or that on the menu. What you will find is a doughnut that was made fresh and simple, the old fashioned way. Don't come here expecting duck doughnuts, these are light and airy, not cakey. The staff is very friendly and greet with a smile. Rare these days.

Great donuts. You can really tell that they're not serving mass produced donuts. The traditional and the cream cheese donuts are my favorite.

This review does not contain any opinion about the donuts from this store because they were never available for us to purchase them. We called the store last Tuesday at 11:00am to ask if they would allow us to place a larger than normal order for a future pick up on Saturday morning. We were told to call back on Thursday or Friday to place our order. We live out of town so our only option was to call back on the days mentioned. We called back on Thursday at 11:00am, no answer and the voicemail was not set up so there was no way to leave a message. We called back at 11:00am on Friday, no answer and no voicemail option. My sister drove over there at 12:15pm on Friday and the doors were locked and lights were off. Based on other reviews, I found this store has a policy of "they are open until they sell out" so obviously they were done for the day and no one was around to help us out. I find it very unprofessional to ask us to call you back on a specific day and then you have no option for us to leave a message when you're unavailable. I would have much preferred they tell us they cannot accommodate our request and that would be the end of it. Instead, I have nothing but frustration and disappointment with this store. For future customers convenience, I would ask they please update their hours of operation to something that resembles their actual working hours.

Love this place has always been the best donut place in town, for every kind of donut you can think of.
