I 1st tried the pumpkin pie when granny’s pie factory gifted pies to where my husband works at allegiance trucks. AMAZING. The pumpkin was so soft and smooth best pumpkin pie I ever had. Second time was for Christmas Eve we got pumpkin pie and strawberry cheesecake pie. AMAZING so creamy I absolutely love their pies. We will continue to be repeat customers!

Don’t hesitate to try these pies! Came home with a strawberry rhubarb pie that was still warm when we got home. The pie was the best we have ever had. We got a peanut butter/chocolate pie that was also “over the top”. The owners were so nice and the pies so amazing that we will go back soon.

I did not know about this place until I saw it on the Too Good To Go App. I ordered thru the app and I have to say I received one of the best pies I have ever tasted. I received Granny's Peach Pie and the filling was delicious and filled with peach slices with no room left for more. The crust was also amazing. Thanks to the app Granny has a new customer.

Their pies are delicious. The cherry pie is my absolute favorite. The 4 star rating is for the parking there. Parking is limited and directly on a main road with heavy traffic. After pulling in and parking face forward since the lot is too small with no way to turn your vehicle around, you'll have to back out directly into flowing traffic hoping that someone would be kind enough to let you out.

Five of us just had a Granny's blueberry pie. None of us found any whole blueberries in the pie. It was all good, like compote. Two of us had the blueberry pie for a second time and again we were disappointed. Strike two. We would not recommend.

I came here about 10 years ago when I was pregnant with my 3rd child. I look young for my age, especially a decade ago. The elderly woman who I assumed was the owner was so belittling and absolutely patronizing me, making comments about how I can’t be old enough to have kids. She wasn’t being friendly in any manner. I was ordering and said “I’ll take a small Swiss almond chocolate (or whatever it was) then immediately said actually no, I’ll switch that to pumpkin instead” and she goes “nope, they already started making it” I literally switched it with a breath in between, she didn’t even punch the order into the computer, but again, this was about her just being demeaning. I went to pay for the pie that I was now stuck with and she sees me pull out my card and goes “oh no sweetie, we don’t accept card, cash only” they absolutely accepted card, it was just MY card she wouldn’t accept. She told me there was a Bank of America on the School St Plaza (now Dunkin) and she made me go and get cash. Honestly I don’t know why I bothered to come back for it, if that happened now I would have just left and not come back. But…since that was so long ago, I decided to give them another try recently. They accepted my card this time and the new staff working the register was much friendlier and much more pleasant than that elderly woman. I ordered 3 pies and they were just not worth the price in my opinion. The they were okay, they were not great and they cost more than I would ever like to spend on pies again.

So, on my way to Boston, for some reason I Googled pies in CT. Granny's came up on top of the list. I rerouted my navigation to there location. When I pulled up, It was not at all what I expected. A bit of a dive looking place. Since I was already there I went on in. I ordered the Boston Creme and Banana Creme Pie. They also had an offer for a 6 pack of random slices. I got to my hotel in Boston and immediately tried the Banana pie. Without question the BEST Banana Cream Pie I have ever tasted. Trying the Pecan & apple pie tonight. To top it off, they are Kosher. This place really takes the cake.

Great pies - wish they were in more retail near me, but they are so good, I don't mind the hour long drive to go pick up all the delicious flavors they have!

I stopped in recently in search of the best banana creme pie for my father-in-law and ended up leaving with one for my family (Spoiler alert: we ALL loved it!) And, I have to shout out the sweet owner who was so kind to add a special bow and ribbon and card to my father-in-law's pie; she was so kind and welcoming. Head there now; you will NOT be disappointed!

Awesome pies! Anyone that comes here will not be disappointed, it's one of the last places that still make fresh food.

The mixed berry pie is delicious. We stopped here on our way home from post surgery check-up and could not be happier with the quality of the pie. It tasted fresh and the berries tasted fresh and not too sweet. We can't wait to return and try their other pies. Thank you!

This was our first time visiting Granny's Pie Factory. We bought Dutch apple pie that was supposedly made on the spot. What a disappointment! It was simply apples poured into a pre-baked shell and then sprinkled with a tasteless crumb mixture on top. The ingredients had not been baked together. When I cut a slice, the crumbles fell off. I won't go there again.

This has been a pie place forever in one form or another. So they have indeed figured out how to do a decent pie, You see smaller versions in local supermarkets and those will do in a pinch, but going to the factory and getting a big, full size version is the way to go. We order in advance, so theres no disappointment in showing up and being sent away without that certain pie you were looking for. Whats good? Haven't encountered a FLOP pie yet. Whats a flop pie? It's a lousy pie. Haven't encountered that here, and Ive gone through a lot of pies at Granny's. Seen a few reviews complain about the crust, but Bailey the dog thinks their crusts rock! I have to agree with Bailey, it's sturdy but falls apart when it needs to and tastes pretty good. Whatever they fill it with seems to work, whether it's chocolate cream or lemon, it's a hefty pie that will hit the spot. Ambience? You check out in an alcove. But you can see the factory through the door, and it looks like an industrial kitchen. Probly got 50 mixing machines back there, so...they got some pie going on. The counter crew is always friendly and efficient, maybe cus they eat pie all the time, not sure, but... they will hook you up. Why four stars instead of five? Cus Ive had a real grandma's pie, from a real grandma, so I know you can really elevate the stuff. But for a retail pie factory, this place is pretty good.

Let me start by saying the customer service was amazing. I was looking for some pies to have after my parent's 55th anniversary dinner. Pie is their favorite dessert and I am not a baker (especially pies). I called a week prior to needing them and spoke with Joan who was super accommodating saying they'd even wrap a ribbon around the pies with a happy anniversary message & pie server at no additional cost. Everyone loved the pies and we had a hard time choosing which was our favorite. Delicious!!! Thank you Granny's Pie Factory for helping make a special evening even sweeter.

Nothing to write home about!! Always in the market for something different .. these small frozen fruit pies just aren't worth the $$. Nothing special.

First time visiting at this cute business. Met & had a nice chat with the owner. My husband favorite pie is Strawberry rhubarb so decided to try this first. There were delicious looking pies in the glass case would love to come back again and get the coconut cream pie. They all looks so good.

If not, unless you're a pie maker, I don't know what you've been doing. I can remember a few years ago when I needed a good pie and didn't know where to even find pie other than a grocery store. I wondered, "Is there a place in the Hartford area that specializes in pie?" Because we live in the internet age, I Googled it, and yes, Granny's Pie Factory is a pie specialist, in the Hartford area. They've got (Begin Bubba from Forrest Gump voice) cherry pie, peach pie, strawberry rhubarb pie, blueberry pie, chocolate pie, coconut cream pie, apple pie, Dutch apple pie, pecan pie, cheesecake pie, Boston cream pie, lemon meringue pie (end Bubba from Forrest Gump voice) and more. Every pie I've tried is a winner, but my favorites include coconut cream, pecan and cheesecake pie. You'll see a glass case when you walk in, and you may think, that's nice - they've got 5 or so kinds today. But that's just because they keep the rest in the back so they can add the finishing touches while you're there. On this visit, I got the cheesecake pie, with half blueberry fruit topping and half cherry topping. It's like three desserts in one - cheesecake, blueberry pie and cherry pie. And every part is delicious. So visit Granny's in East Hartford. You can also find their pies at places such as Killam and Bassett farm market in South Glastonbury.

Very delicious pies. I ordered the Boston creme pie and they had it ready the next day. Very quick and accommodating. The parking is a little small but I did not have a problem with finding a spot.

I have read reviews saying that this place is Connecticut's best pie. Too bad, they don't have anything for vegetarians/vegans. The pie tasted too eggy that I couldn't take more than 1 bite. I liked the people who work there as they were very friendly. But I am not coming back again.

This is a small shop in East Hartford. I have been buying Granny's pie from Shoprite for a while now. Decided to stop by the original location. I tried the banana creme pie. It was made with real banana. So you need to finish in a couple of days or the banana will start turning dark. I think next time I will try some other pie like blueberry pie.

Granny's is a rare gem that focuses on making an array of fresh and delicious pies. They are a family run business that is tucked away in the heart of East Hartford. Over the past two years, I've tried their Swiss chocolate almond cream pie, apple pie, pecan pie, and half blueberry half cherry cheesecake pie. Overall, I am not a fan of the cream pies. They just don't provide much substance relative to the other pies. However, their apple pie, pecan pie, and cheesecake pie were exceptional, especially the latter two. The pecan pie was rich, crunchy, and smooth. It was divine. The cheesecake pie was the most unique. Rich and creamy cheesecake situated in a pie crust topped with delicious blueberries and cherries. It was really special and a must try if you're into cheesecake. The pie crust instead of the typical cheesecake crust added an extra dimension of flavor. If you're planning on visiting, make sure to call to prepare your order beforehand. They do have some ready made pies available, but they're a small shop so calling in advance to make sure they have what you want is a good idea. There is no seating inside, so be prepared to take out. Lastly, they offer a pie cutter with each order which is awesome and a nice touch! Definitely visit if you're in the Hartford area!

This pie factory is a little gem in the middle of East Hartford that I'd recommend for great quality pie. They have a good assortment of fruit and non-fruit pies all for extremely reasonable prices. They taste incredible and don't use things like filler or corn syrup to replace fruits in each pie. They have a small parking lot, but I was able to find a spot pretty easily. I'd definitely recommend!

After having read and heard a lot of great reviews about Granny's Pie Factory, I made it a point to get one of the holiday pies from here. Two days before Thanksgiving and I was a little worried on the traffic; the location is right off a busy road and with limited parking space, there was a cop controlling the parking at this location which I thought was very helpful. I walked into this small front office and was greeted by a very friendly staff. Beside the desk where she stood and behind the door I caught a glimpse of the pie making and I was surprised with the number of folks making the pies and the speed in their processing. Looking at the menu and not being able to make my mind, I asked her to recommend their best selling pie and she recommended the Chocolate cream pie or the banana cream pie or the pumpkin pie and I ended up picking the chocolate pie. Nice flaky crust with not very sweet chocolate custard topped with lite whipped cream and chocolate chips. I absolutely loved the pie and was a hit amongst the desserts during the holiday. I am certainly coming back to try the variety of other flavors that they have to offer. Great place and certainly value for the money you pay.

Their pies are to die for, every one is better then the next one!!! So creamy and delish!!! Our place to go for a great pie!!!

The Pies are delicious Reasonably priced Redably available. If they don't have one in stock they will make it. Same day if ordered before a certain time or they will have it when they open the following day.

As an admitted Pie-A-Holic, I've been there more than once. The pies are very delicious and the selection can't be beat. I have to say it's one of the top 5 in the state. While, in my discerning opinion, it isn't the number one pie place in the state, but it's close.

It's been a while since I first tried a pie from this pie shop. I am happy to report this time around, the Cheesecake Pie was very, very good. Not extremely sweet but just right. My previous observation over the dry crust was not a factor this time. I bought an entire pie because they didn't offer slices. No problem, I shared with my friends. Beware that parking is very, very limited.

A tiny shop with a small entry area where the register is at you can see beyond that where the factory of pie goodness is made . A nice man name Nico took my order . Very clean inside and smells from the pies in the other room amazing. Pick-up or order when you walk in it will be ready in a jiffy. It's a Friday in January and I just have a craving today . I chose three pies (individual 7.oo ) . Reece's , Chocolate Almond and Blueberry cream. Just the looks alone I gave it 5 stars. To be made onsite and look that good kudos to them. They tasted just as good . Blueberries bursted thru the cream pie with plenty on top. The Reece's was light and airy with candy on top and in the pie. The chocolate almond is all mine and I'm not sharing it's that good. So if your in the mood for pie today I suggest you GPS this location and go !!!!!

Ok, on a scale of 1-10 this pie was an 11. The only bad thing I have to say is I didn't buy two....

If you like Pie don't miss this lil gem. Doesn't look like much from the outside. There's magic that happens in that kitchen. No joke go there today.

As always, a Granny Pie is awesome. Bought a strawberry/rhubarb and it is the BEST. Very tasty and great consistency. Not too dense as others I've had from other places. Their selection of pies covers just about any and all kinds. I also bought a lemon meringue and it was a great choice. Can't wait to try their pineapple pie.

What a find! I love pie! (Growing up, I didn't have birthday cake, I had birthday cherry pie with candles in it.) This place is tiny--only one couple together can fit in the space where you place your order (even if we weren't in the Year of Living Carefully due to COVID-19), but the selection is mouthwatering. We got one cherry pie and one coconut custard--both DELICIOUS. The woman who waited on us was a lovely human who told us about the business. I love it. I plan to make a pilgrimage there for every special occasion.

Driving by and saw a sign for pie? Yes please! They do fundraiser pue sales, but sell individual. Just a tiny entry with a small desk and brochure of pies. Strawberry by season, but all other available all the time. SO MANY TO CHOOSE FROM! Such a nice elder man that greeted us. Bought a small individual pie and asked for a spoon (no shame). Three pie sizes ($7,$10,$14), my friend got the largest size. Amazing!

Delicious pies with pleasant customer service! Limited parking but we're always in and out of the little storefront so we usually don't have an issue. Just be careful when leaving the little lot as it leads to a busy road

Granny's is saving pie as we know it. Even though they close a lot, they finally got smart and started distributing frozen pies to various local markets, including Shop Rite in Manchester, where I happened to find them for sale. Their mini ones are $5 a pop, and that's a very fair price for a pretty darn gourmet dessert for 2-4 people. Let's face it - usually pie crust sucks. Either you're eating something that tastes about as good as the cardboard container it came in, or some crushed up cookies, which doesn't exactly make for a party in one's mouth either. Granny's gets it right - it's simple, but good flaky and buttery crust. You'll actually want to eat it instead of just chowing down the pie filling and throwing out the "stump" like a fully smoked cigar. Both that I got were tremendous. Blueberry Creme, Peanut Butter Chocolate. Very different, but both very tasty, classic pies. For certain, this is one pie to the face you won't regret.

Nice people. Ah, nice people and I'm giving a poor review. Forgive me. Because nice people are hard to find. But the chocolate cream pie was inedible. And the apple tasted too artificial. So many places sell their pies. Perhaps I just got a bad batch!

Well, After all of the talk I've heard about this place I decided to check it out myself. Granny's is a small little shop located close to the police department in East Hartford. When we walked in a friendly young guy took our order. If you are here for a fruit pie they are baked fresh in the morning and come out shortly after you make a decision on what flavor you plan to go with. You can also purchase these frozen and bake them yourself, they carry over 10 varieties. The Creme Pie's​ take about 5 minutes because once you've made your​ decision they go in back and freshly fill the pie shell, they have around 30 creme pie flavors to choose from. I had to pick up a pie for a Pi party I was attending. We decided to go with the Almond Joy which has layers of chocolate custard and coconut custard with whipped cream and topped with sliced almonds. It was luscious with velvety chocolate custard, creamy coconut with a nice textural crunch from the tasty almonds on top. It was very hard to choose a pie.....The Pineapple Creme sounded tasty to.....Maybe next time. They have 3 sizes for most of you pie selections 10", 8", and 6"......So if you want to be adventurous you can grab several flavors in the 6" size.... But you could also send your self into diabetic shock if you're eating all those pies yourself so grab some friends pick out of few pies and enjoy yourselves.

Great pies, you get what you pay for. I've never had a problem with service. Ma and pa type ambiance.

Haven't been to the shop myself but their Boston Creme Pie and Chocolate Creme pie are amazing, I am guessing all their pies are delicious.

This place literally is a factory around the holidays!! The lines are out the door but it's worth it. My dad always requests apple pies ( traditional and crisp style) and cherry. He raves about them. My fave is strawberry rhubarb! I love the mom and pop aspect and supporting local businesses!!

My second excursion to Granny's. My first trip yielded a fantastic chocolate cream pie. Prior to that I bought Granny's pies at the Farmers Market. They told me to come by the store. So far it has been wonderful. This last trip was for a banana cream pie.

I ordered 2 pies through a fundraiser. They came from this company. I ordered them for the holiday meal, and now I have nothing because 1 of the pies has mold growing on it. Of course I'm not going to eat the other one; that's a scary thought. That's like going out and finding hair or a roach in your mashed potatoes, but you tell the waiter to just get rid of the mash and you'll eat everything else...yukkkkk!!!! The thought alone grosses me out. Sorry, I won't be rolling the dice on the remaining food, just like I won't be rolling the dice on the other pie. REFUND PLEASE!!!!!

I realize it's COVID and all but that doesn't excuse the fact that I placed an order for three specific pies and they only had two at pickup. The clerk told us that she knows the order was for three but they only had two. What kind of customer service is that?

The company I work for purchased pies from Granny's as employee gifts. I was skeptical, after all it was a frozen apple pie. I gotta say..., absolutely delicious. The crust turned out flakey and the apples weren't soggy, just great. You can totally take credit for this apple pie with guests if you don't show them the box!

Bought a Dutch apple pie from my daughter's school fundraiser. Had it for Thanksgiving. It was awful.... not even edible!

I must say the Red, white & Blue July 4th cheesecake (cherry/blueberry) is a favorite of mine for this holiday! It's excellent!!

Granny's pies are amazing. They aren't toothe achingly sweet like those cheapo pies you'd pick up at Stop and Shop or some other grocery store. You can actually taste the flavors in the filling (what a novelty!). You can even buy pre-made pie shells for them pretty cheaply. They have an insane pie list; just go to their website and download the PDF of pies. This place gets slammed during the holidays so make sure you place an order. Also, it is in a strange industrial section of East Hartford on School Street but easy enough to find.

Nico, the owner did email me after my past review and he did apologize if I felt I was treated badly and he offered me a free pie. I do appreciate the offer. However, I do not bash a small business lightly. I was a customer of Grandma's Pies for over 10 years. It was convenient & the family did like the pies. I just was fed up of giving them my money and they still were rude. At times, they seemed that they didn't want to be bothered by us walking in the door. So, thank you for the offer, I decline. I hope that you appreciate the people who drive out of the way to purchase from you. I will not be back. Thank you.

The pies get a 5. I had the apple which was amazing and the peach blueberry which was also amazing. The key lime meringue was only ok, there was too much meringue and overall the whole thing just didn't work so well together. Service. I wiuld give a 3. I met these folks at a farmers market and they were incredibly nice. When I went into the store itself, it was badly in need of a little front end TLC and I felt like my presence was inconveniencing the older lady who came out to help me. She was not rude at all, but I just didn't get the welcoming friendly vibe that made me comfortable.

Went in there yesterday after my boyfriend and his job has had there pies numerous times, then I read the article in the Journal Inquirer about them as well and needed to go try for myself after looking at there menu and seeing they made the same pie my Grandma made growing up, Swiss Almond Chocolate! Let me tell you, it made me feel like I was eating it with my grandmother and satisfied every crave of a pie I had ever had. Job well done Grannies! I will definitely be back, and will bring my child for National Pi day next year for sure!

Amazing!! Dropped in Thanksgiving eve with my Dad to get pies. Traffic was nuts but controlled perfectly by an EHPD officer. Inside was a smooth-running machine. We stepped to the left to order 2 6" cherry pies, chocolate cream and blueberry. The chocolate cream was the beat I have ever had. Cherry was out of this WORLD! We will definitely be back and now have a new tradition for the holidays!

I received a sweet potato pie from a friend for Thanksgiving. I decided to taste it beforehand and now I am afraid there will not be any left for the holiday!
