Nestled in the vibrant downtown of Chicago, Grant Park is a sprawling urban paradise that perfectly balances the city’s energetic pulse with serene green spaces. As one of the city's crown jewels, this park is not just a patch of grass; it’s a dynamic gathering place that showcases the best of what Chicago has to offer. The park is beautifully landscaped, featuring lush lawns, vibrant flower beds, and iconic sculptures that create a picturesque backdrop for relaxation and recreation. Walking through Grant Park, you can feel the buzz of city life while still enjoying moments of tranquility. The proximity to Lake Michigan enhances this experience, offering refreshing breezes and stunning views as you stroll along Lakeshore Drive. One of the standout features of Grant Park is its role as a host for various festivals throughout the year. From food fests to music festivals, there’s always something happening that brings together locals and visitors alike. The energy during these events is infectious, with tantalizing aromas wafting from food stalls and the sounds of live music filling the air. It’s a wonderful opportunity to indulge in culinary delights and enjoy the vibrant community spirit. The park is also home to several stages that host large concerts, drawing in big-name artists and creating unforgettable nights under the stars. These events contribute to the park's lively atmosphere, making it a hub for culture and entertainment. Whether you're dancing with friends or simply soaking in the ambiance, the experience is always memorable. Grant Park truly embodies the essence of Chicago. It’s a place where nature meets culture, and every visit feels like a new adventure. While it can get crowded during events, the vibrant energy only adds to its charm. I wholeheartedly recommend Grant Park for anyone looking to enjoy the best of the city, whether you’re after a leisurely stroll, a fun festival, or an electrifying concert. It’s an oasis that beautifully showcases the spirit of Chicago!

I went there this winter and had the opportunity to return recently during the summer. On a bus tour, Grant Park was apart of the tour. Absolutely beautiful both seasons! Very spacious with a lot of things to do. I enjoyed myself. *Although it was freezing in the winter! 🥶❤️🥶❤️🥶❤️🥶❤️🥶❤️🥶❤️🥶❤️

This park is excellent! It's well-maintained, clean, and the cherry blossoms are beautifully blooming. My only suggestion would be to add a few more benches for visitors to relax and enjoy the scenery. Overall, a delightful experience! 🌸🌳

Google
Lollapalooza day one was great! The park was gorgeous from what I could see and the lolla layout is great. There are festival maps everywhere so you don’t get lost. There are hydration stations plenty of food and places to cool off. didn’t start looking destroyed until around 8pm when all the main acts came on and nobody could really pick it up because the crowd is massive.

So happy they held the Taste of Chicago here in the wonderful park in September! Lots of great vendors including fun art through out the area!

Yelp
Always a great time at this park. Really is a great venue for concerts and sporting events. So far, I have been here for several concerts, musical festivals, food, events, and NASCAR. I think they do a really good job of using the space at this park. I'm always very impressed with the assessability and the easy access to public transportation. The park itself is very beautiful, including monuments, gardens, views of downtown and lake. Definitely a nice place to take a stroll or even a bike ride around and see everything that downtown Chicago has to offer.

Yelp
This is a very large park that you will find in the heart of Chicago. the park dates back to 1847 and is named after Named for President and Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant. This park has a little bit of everything. The park is known as "Chicago's Front Yard," and spans 313 acres. The park is home to what is known as the Museum Campus, which includes the Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. There is tons of metered street parking, commercial lots and commercial garages for visitors of the park to park. Where you will park will be determined mostly by what section of the park you go to. It is also easily accessible by public transit. The parks is also home to the iconic Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain, built in 1927. The fountain is amazing and is a must see. I found the park to be well maintained. you will find baseball diamonds, tennis courts, pickleball courts, benches and well manicured gardens. The baseball diamonds that I saw were very bare and did not have dugouts or backstops. They are just wide open fields. The tennis courts and pickleball courts are right next to each other are both nice and pretty popular. The park has some really nice gardens, where you can fins some benches to sit and take a load off. There are also benches around the fountain to sit as well. The park has a couple of seasonal eateries near the fountain that visitors can purchase food from. The park is central to some of the city's most major events, including the Grant Park Music Festival, The Taste of Chicago, Lollapalooza, and is the start and finish lines for the Chicago Marathon. It was also the site of President Barack Obama's Election Day victory speech on the night of November 4, 2008 , Pope John Paul II held an outdoor mass here in 1979 and the park was the site of many of the Chicago Bull Championship celebrations in the 1990s. I really liked this park. It is so large and spread out though that you must know what you want to do and go directly to that section of the park. You may be in the park and not even know it. It is just that big. It is well maintained and highly recommend checking this park out when you are in Chi-town.

Yelp
Fun times for the Hot Chocolate Run! I never knew that we had a Lincoln statue. The area was nice and clean for the runners.

Yelp
Cute park, was a bit confusing. This is known as Chicago's "front yard", because you can see all of the buildings and passerby, and it links up with Millennium Park. The walk to MP is... not easy. We called an Uber. Also, the constant harassment from the vendors is a bit much. No, we do not want to ride in your bike drawn carriage, thank you.

Sanjay G.

Yelp
Grant Park is Chicago's front yard. It's where the city goes to play, relax, enjoy the fresh air, and escape from the concrete jungle. Grant Park is an approximately 313-acre swath of green space that starts at the eastern edge of the Loop and stretches down to the South Side. Not sure if the Museum campus comes under Grant Park or not, but it's only a 10-minute walk from here. At the heart of Grant Park is Buckingham Fountain. One of the largest fountains in the world, in fact, every attraction in Chicago comes under the loop. we were there for 2 days and walked 42 KM in days and covered every attraction Chicago offers. it is a nice green space for a stroll. you can admire superb views of downtown Chicago from here. Grant Park is open to visitors every day from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. Admission to the park and Buckingham Fountain is free, Millennium Park also rubs elbows with the northwest corner of Grant Park).

Stephen V.

Yelp
I was at Grant Park for the first day of Taste of Chicago for 2024, as it underway from today Thur Sunday, as it is now a 3 day festival. And this will be the same park that hosts other festivals in Chicago, and of course where Buckingham Fountain is located, and it is the site to see in the months when the fountain is turned on. All 3 days the hours of Taste of Chicago is 11 am to 9 pm for the hours that it will be open.

Maddy M.

Yelp
I love Grant Park! When I lived in Chicago I would come and hang out here all the time with friends. Bring a picnic blanket and enjoy the scenery. I love the concerts in the summer and the people watching! Definitely wear your walking shoes when exploring Grant park. There is a lot of ground to cover! In the past I have even rented an electric bike to get around. A visit to Grant park is a must when visiting the city. Enjoy the surrounding attractions like the Art Institute, Millenium Park and the Aquarium. The park is home to many summer festivals that are worth checking out like the famous Lollapalooza and The Taste of Chicago. It's also very easy to catch a bus around Grant Park either down Lakeshore Dr. or Michigan Ave. Grant Park is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle and enjoy a little bit of nature in the Windy City!

Yelp
I went for a walk. On this glorious 70 degree evening .... Such an interesting celebration It's a common occurrence to see wishing trees near temples In India. Unlocking the threads of humanity... we are all so similar whatever the race and culture.

Yelp
A lovely park to take a walk. I passed by the Agora art exhibit that had me a bit unnerved. But I suppose art should evoke emotion. If you're near Grant Park, check it out.

Ginette P.

Yelp
Nice big park with lots to see. we were in town during Lollapalooza & this park was basically it's main stage. Plenty of areas to walk around , loved to see the main fountain Al Bundy would be proud to see how nicely it's been kept. Huge park so there will be plenty of walking, during the festival I was surprised how clean it was kept only because there were just so many people, overall nice park to visit.

Shayla B.

Yelp
An absolutely stunning park! Millennium Park gets all of the rave, but Grant Park is just as gorgeous. This park is essentially the gateway to some of Chicago's most prominent landmarks. With clean and beautiful walking paths, scenic city views, and extensively green lawn space, Grant Park has so much to offer. This is the perfect place to take a stroll whilst exploring the big city. The walking paths are paved and lined by vibrant trees and colorful flowers. There are path markers that will show you which direction the landmarks are located, so you never feel like you're lost. What's also nice is that there are tons of pretty statues along the way. The Buckingham Fountain is beautiful! I visited during the time when the water was off, but the fountain itself was still nice to admire. The lawn space is expansive and there are so many comfortable spots to enjoy a nice picnic when the weather is warm. There are lots of different events that are held in this park throughout the year and you can often find street vendors and food trucks that are near by if you want to grab a bite to eat. There's a short tunnel that will lead you to Chicago's Museum Campus where many of the city's popular museums are located. I just love the fact that all of this is easily accessible by foot. And while you're enjoying a stroll down these peaceful paths, you'll have the most gorgeous views of city throughout your journey. Such a clean and beautiful park that mustn't be missed while you're in Chicago.

Amanda L.

Yelp
This park is massive! It's got so many layers to it and seemingly keeps on going. A TON of entrances, feeds right in from Millennium Park, and is nestled right in the middle of Chicago in a way that is just absolutely delightful. My main experience with Grant Park has been during Lollapalooza, so I can't speak to how this park is during other days in the year when it's not Lolla, other than the handful of times I've come here when there's no event set up in this park, the park has been absolutely deserted and very peaceful! It's just massive, has so much to offer as an event space, and has the best and most gorgeous fountain at the heart of the park, Buckingham Fountain!

Brian F.

Yelp
Grant Park stretches from Millennium Park at the north through Buckingham Fountain in the middle to Field Museum to the south. Throughout that stretch of land contains multiple parks, some areas of beaches, the Art Institute of Chicago, the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium, Soldier Field, and more. We started at Buckingham Fountain and went north so we didn't see the whole thing, but it would take some time because it's gigantic. The fountain has a water show on the dot every hour where the water shoots up really high. It seems to be a great place to come back during the night time when it's dark. You can see many different views ranging from skyscrapers on one side to the beautiful waterfront on the other. Come explore here to see beauty and get your steps in.

Yelp
Another area that we walk through a lot is Grant Park. Many times, we walk to/from downtown, so we stroll through the green spaces of Grant Park. Proudly referred to as "Chicago's Front Yard," Grant Park totals 312.98 acres. A city centerpiece much like New York's Central Park, Grant Park is home to some of Chicago's most iconic landmarks and attractions. The park includes Museum Campus, the site of world-class museums the Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Shedd Aquarium and the Adler Planetarium. Grant Park's centerpiece is the Clarence Buckingham Memorial Fountain, built in 1927 to provide a monumental focal point while protecting the park's breathtaking lakefront views. Grant Park is also home to baseball diamonds, tennis courts and breathtaking gardens. The park plays host to some the city's largest food and music festivals, including The Taste of Chicago -- a large food and music festival held around the Independence Day holiday -- and The Grant Park Music Festival. Grant Park is also the site of the start and finish lines for the Chicago Marathon and Lollapalooza, a popular outdoor music festival. Named for U.S. President and Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant, Grant Park was developed as one of Chicago's first parks and expanded through land reclamation. It is bordered on the north by Randolph Street, on the south by Roosevelt Road, on the west by Michigan Avenue and on the east by Lake Michigan. Grant Park offers many different attractions in its large open space. The park is generally flat. It is crossed by large boulevards and pedestrian bridges are used to connect Millennium Park and Maggie Daley so that patrons may cross S. Columbus Drive with ease. There are also several parking garages underneath the park, near Michigan Avenue.

Steve A.

Yelp
Big park with many of Chicago's most famous attractions close. Grant Park is extremely massive. There's many individual things to see inside the park. Also just outside are lots of museums and attractions. The park makes a great place for big concerts and shows. In the middle is Buckingham Fountain. Such a huge ass fountain with lots of water spurting. This is a fun attraction for children in summer. Just north is the Rose Garden. This features many types of roses. Another feature is the Lurie Garden. This is a maze made of of ivy walls. Maybe it's inspired by Wrigley Field. There's other kinds of flowers here too. Also there's many statues to look at. There's the obvious like Abraham Lincoln, and the more contemporary ones. Concerts are at the Pritzker Pavilion on the north end. It has notable concerts such as Lollapalooza. There's lots of room for thousands.

Yelp
An amazing park! That day, Messi was playing at the stadium. When I got off and ran through the park to get there, I dropped my phone. I went back to look for it but couldn't find it, and I was very sad. It was my birthday that night, and my wish was to find my phone the next day. Amazingly, the next day the park staff contacted me, saying my phone had been found. I was very lucky to get my phone back and had a perfect birthday. Thanks to the person who found my phone and the park staff.

Steven W.

Yelp
Beautiful massive park. It is a sight indeed with green grass and beautiful trees everywhere you turn. They have many things to do and see. You can walk from one side to the other and you might not have seen the entire park.

Kenny C.

Yelp
Was here for Lollapalooza and was actually amazed by how well suited it was for a festival. The large roads made for traveling between stages easy, and there were lots of spots under the big trees to just laze around. I feel bad for the grass from all the people, but they're used to it. The cicadas were going nuts from all the noise, so feel kinda bad for them too. Great views of the skyline!

Jayme H.

Yelp
Grant Park may very well be the most well known park in Illinois. Whether you've heard of it because of Buckingham Fountain and the television show Married With Children, watched President Obama's speech here in 2008, walked through the park during a wild music festival, or ate your way through the streets during the Taste of Chicago, this park has made a name for itself. By the way, I can confirm I've done all of the above. It's well kept, has the beautiful Chicago skyline as a backdrop, features cool public art and statues, and more! It's also easy to walk from Grant Park to Cloud Gate, Millennium Park, Maggie Daley Park for ice skating, etc. It's close to hotels, shopping, restaurants and all that jazz too. Definitely a cool space to check out in the Windy City!

Dani N.

Yelp
Chicago has so many gorgeous, historic, and architecturally divine parks throughout the city it's hard to pick just a few to visit. Luckily they're spread not too far and wide, so give yourself a day or two, throw on some quality walking shoes and go explore! Grant Park, above all, in my opinion is a must visit for those who love massive pieces of history that'll make your jaw drop.. casually. I'm talking Buckingham Fountain. Dedicated in 1927 this fountain is one of the largest in the world and being in it's presence silences all head noise, giving you a feeling of appreciation and tranquility. I thought I was just going to stroll up, take a couple pictures and head out but I couldn't get myself to walk away. I sat on one of their many benches and stared at the beauty of the city, water patterns, and appreciation on other viewers' faces. Definitely a must see, and hey, take a picnic, you may want to stay a while too! Note: The fountain does not run during Winter. They say, generally between October - April but I'd check the website for more info. This park also has historic statues, including one of everyone's favorite: Abe Lincoln. There's tons of geese around in the late Summer, other birds and bees, but no massive wildlife that I've seen or heard about. I saw many parking lots around the area but could not tell if you they are ever free. I'd recommend not driving/parking anywhere in the city but that's my personal preference due to lack of patience and love for my car's well being. They have free public bathrooms on site, access to the walking path alongside the lake, and food vendors very close by. I'd love to attend an event here some day as I hear it's quite a legendary experience!

Curt C.

Yelp
I'll grant that Grant Park is a great park. This place is huge. It's a really large park that's like Chicago's front lawn along the lake. All the skyscrapers overlook Grant Park in some manner. From here, you can see all the buildings there are to see across the skyline. I came to a Reggae Festival a few years ago, which was amazing. There's Buckingham Fountain blowing in the background, and a great way to chill out in a hot summer day. There was also a Pokemon convention going on when I went. There's plenty of places to go hang out seeking imaginary creatures. The only real problem I had with this park is the lack of restrooms. Some places just kinda smell like they need more of them. This park's views rivals any of the other canyons or vistas, with this views of downtown here. The park was pretty well lit at night, especially along the walkways and the fountain. I felt safe, as there were a lot of people hanging out when I went! It's a nice place to take in some of that famous Windy City wind!

Scott G.

Yelp
The Chicago parks are fascinating. Each park is designed to fill a need. This park features a rather spectacular fountain but it's role appears to be hosting events. The fountain is definitely worth seeing but the rest of the park is just OK. Listed in Drive Across America: https://www.yelp.com/collection/4_4-FCUBHEQBq43u7DXRig

Yelp
I took a long bike ride around the other day and it was really enjoyable. This park has the fountain that was featured in the opening credits of Married with Children. At this time of the year, the fountain was empty, but it was still beautiful to see. The park is open and spacious. The people watching is phenomenal. I always feel safe when I visit. another great spot with playground for kid and more.

Mark N. T.

Yelp
I heard that many historical events such as Obama's victory speech,Cubs world series champion rally etc..were held here.It was true that the park was huge.I liked Buckingham fountain.I saw lake Michigan. It was cloudy and windy, but I still enjoyed the park.

Alex C.

Yelp
Known as "Chicago's Front Yard" Grant Park spans from Randolph to Roosevelt and provides a lush green space between the Loop and the Lake. Living on the most southern point by Museum Campus, Grant Park has been a haven for me during our COVID quarantine -- providing a space for me to retreat to from my tiny highrise apartment and get some fresh air. While everything east of Lakeshore drive remains closed, the vast majority of the park is open! I particularly enjoy the large field closest to Lakeshore and south of the fountain. (aka where the Lolla main stage sits) It's the perfect place to have a picnic and throw a frisbee. Grant Park is used for dozens of outdoor activities during the summer, from Lolla to Pokemon Go fest, and I've had the pleasure of attending many. While those won't be happening this year, Grant Park can be used for our own individual pleasure to gather with friends and enjoy the beautiful summer Chicago weather. Looking forward to spending many more summer days here.

Araceli C.

Yelp
I run the chicago marathon 2019 I get there late I live in chicago for over 20 years I enjoy the crew the ppl The volunteers The vibes Thanks chicago

Yelp
My favorite park to go for a walk with my dog Charlie. No matter what season of the year - it's always so beautiful!

Igor B.

Yelp
Grant Park is a combination of nature, art, history with beautiful views. The sculptures of the The Bowman and The Spearman by Ivan Mestrovic are spectacular. You can see his sculpture in DC in front of the embassy of Repuplic of Croatia (most famous Croatian sculptor). Pictures are worth thousand words. The fountain and the views to downtown Chicago are better from any views from central Park.

PatrickJ T.

Yelp
As we were walking around Grant Park, I heard someone refer to it as Chicago's front yard. I can understand why cause this park is mega huge! It includes Millennium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Buckingham Fountain among other places. Many festivals are held here. Taste of Chicago is festival held at Grant Park every year. Hopefully, I will be able to attend this event one day. Til then, I will enjoy everything else that Grant Park has to offer which is plenty!

Jill O.

Yelp
It's very pretty with a great location. It's well within walking distance of the loop and museum campus and Soldier Field. There's a lot of events held here, and of course it's the home to Buckingham Fountain. It's nice to walk through if you need some fresh air or to catch some Pokemon. It's also worth seeing the fountain if you're not a local. It's something very Chicago-y that is free.

Bryan J.

Yelp
Grant Park is amazing! It's got such a great view of downtown Chicago and plenty that you can walk around and do. I had the (dis)pleasure of visiting here for Pokemon Go Fest 2017 and I've said enough about that on Reddit, my personal Facebook page and Twitter to fill up several reviews, so I will leave that experience there. If Louisville had someone as grand a Grant Park I would fully be a Pagan because you can spend all kinds of time in nature and still get to marvel in what mankind has built up around it. It's a gorgeous park and there is a huge field that you could break out a frisbee and play Ultimate Frisbee on, and then there's little secluded areas where you could relax and have yourself a little picnic with a cute little picinic basket (Yogi Bear voice) as well. If neither of those are your thing, then you could easily take a stroll through it and get some calorie burns in while enjoying what you have around you. When I come back to Chicago, I plan to come back to Grant Park to learn some more about it, take it all in and enjoy the scenery instead of getting mad at my phone because of network and server issues for an event, I can't wait to experience it for itself. Get your buns here to relax because I swear if I worked in downtown Chicago, I'd be here everyday with a latte and a sandwich just taking it in. This place is so great!

Lambert P.

Yelp
Big open space. This is what I think of when I think of Grant Park. That and the first time I accidentally visited the Taste of Chicago it was in Grant Park as well. This was well over a decade ago. This place is so open that you can have a million people here counted from a helicopter when they are trying to determine exactly how many people are at one of the Tastes of Chicago. So much of the waterfront in Chicago is dedicated to park that it's amazing to see such a large city care about how much green space is dedicated to beautify and balance the city where there are equally tall buildings all over a concrete landscape. Grant Park is special that way. A large and very open area with the crown front and center being Buckingham fountain. This park and and adjacent green spaces are so large it's hard to tell where one starts and another one ends. The city of Chicago should be very proud to have such a large dedicated green space in where cities like mine (Toronto) have squandered their waterfront in the central business district to industry, development and real estate mongers.

Yelp
I'm in LOVE!! Grant Park is a sight to be seen. It's is massive in size and and fuLL of LiveLy hustLe & bustLe. Fun for aLL Land and sea Lovers [in this case: Lake-Lovers]. There is no shortage of bicycList, joggers, and park goers in generaL. GP is a true tourist destination and for good reason.... The up-keeping and Landscaping of Grant Park is phenomenaL. [Chicago, your efforts are not overLooked!!] There is an abundance of shade to take a Quick break and a number of things for you to take breathtaking photos of. Chicagoans are so very Lucky to have such a beautifuL park to enjoy day in and out. Great caLL on the preservation of this beautifuL piece of Land for aLL to take advantage of.

Annette B.

Yelp
Sprawling greenery set aside to remain natural and beautiful for Chicagoans to enjoy. The lake and natural beauty here are the stars and are great to appreciate against the hustle and bustle of the city and its structures. This is a great place to take a moment to relax or go for a nice run.

Janos J.

Yelp
It might sound silly, but I would consider moving here during the summer months just to be around this entire park. They have so much going on in Grant Park, this place is huge and turns out to be a fantastic place for a run late at night. Friday night I decided to go for a nice run around the perimeter of some the park and loved it. Grant Park is very well maintained, the grass looks outstanding by the Museum Campus area and the other areas that I was in. The new Skate Park looks awesome, for a while I watched a bunch of bmxer's and skaters jump the ramps and poles. The kid's thought it was super cool. Those who live near Grant Park may have no idea how lucky they are. This park is 319 acres in size and was named after Ulysses S. Grant. Funny thing is we also have a Grant Park in Atlanta, but it is named after Lemuel P. Grant who was a successful and is a total size of 131 acres. If you are looking for a great place to hang out, definitely checkout Grant Park here in Chicago. [Review #313] (Seventieth Third Review of 2015)

Yelp
Nice park in the middle of the city. huge and has the famous Buckingham fountain across from lake Michigan. recently we stayed at the dog friendly hilton across from Grant park. ideal having such a nice park to walk out pug. I didnt see the sculpure of the headless people this time.. dont know what that sculpture is named but I hope it's still there. love having parks and gardens to enjoy.

Nick C.

Yelp
Grant Park is Chicago's equivalent of Central Park in NYC. It's large, mostly flat, and is beautifully landscaped. But I think the art installations at the neighboring Millennium Park are way cooler, since the only art I really remember is the Buckingham Fountain. You can find some boat tour guides here though. And there's a huge food festival that takes place here in the summer, as well as the music festival, Lollapalooza. The level ground makes it great for biking, and the views of Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline are nice. There are a number of museums here too, including the Adler Planetarium, the museum of natural history, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Shedd Aquarium (skip Adler). Probably makes for a fun day even without the food or music festival.

Samantha B.

Yelp
We had such an amazing time here! This park is ginormous so it's no surprise they hosted the Pokemon Go Festival this year (and for a few years in the past). There are a few food places in the park, a giant fountain, and some public bathrooms (that were unfortunately closed for the event). I'm sure there was more but I was a little distracted by the Pokemon stuff so I probably missed other things they had. It was a lot of fun walking across the park. The fountain was really impressive! It shoots so high up into the air! I really liked the ice cream vendors, too. I'd be thrilled if they hosted the event again next year.

Grace C.

Yelp
Silly me. I had only experienced Millennium Park during my first visit to Chicago ten years ago, and that was just a small subsection of the various parks on Chicago's waterfront edge. I didn't realize there was a larger park (Grant Park) with the famous fountain made recognizable from Married with Children! When I returned to Chicago again, this time for work, I made sure to not only re-visit Millennium Park, but walk just a bit further for Grant Park. Definitely come to see Buckingham Fountain (the Married with Children one) and spend some more time to wander through the large park. Several streets cut through the park so just be mindful of actual cars passing through as you go from one end to another.

Harish V.

Yelp
Large Urban Park located in the chicago loop.It is called "Chicago's Front Yard" and is governed by the Chicago Park District. This park contains performances venues, gardens and normally host lot of art festivals and large annual events like chicago Jazz festival,Blues festival,Taste of chicago and most important "Lollapalooza" happens here. I was here yesterday for the Gold Coast Art fair and there are N numbers of stalls where artists get to display their art forms which were incredible. You get to eat lots of food and just walk in to the stalls and appreciate and if interested can buy stuff. Buckingham fountain,Art institute ,Millennium park and lot of other city attractions are walkable from here.

Yelp
I have nothing but good memories from Grant Park from concerts to festivals to snowshoeing (beginners tip don't go backwards like I always do or you'll fall like me. Coworkers of mine from Amsterdam asked if they have free concerts in Chicago, I said sometimes why? Next thing I know I'm attending a Sting concert who I am not particularly fond of! They were sooooo excited to go to a free concert - I'm like you pay more in taxes so you need to tell your govt to have some freebies!

Yelp
Urban oasis. Epic park in Chicago. Start down by the museums and work your way up. Enjoy every minute. Seems like every time I've been in Chicago something is going on in the park...food festivals, music festivals, sporting events....the list goes on. Or you can just sit and gawk at the lake or gape at the stunning skyline view. Buckingham Fountain is beyond gorgeous, especially at night. Chicago should be very proud of this lakefront gem. I can't give it five stars because my own beloved Prospect and Central Parks get that, but this is a great place. God Bless Montgomery Ward and others who fought to keep open space in Chicago.

Yelp
Another beautiful park with great walking paths in Chicago. Definitely a must see in a Chicago so add it to your list. We passed a few statutes along the way. Hung out at Buckingham Fountain for a few photo ops and enjoyed the mist. We then walked along the lakefront admiring Lake Michigan.

Yelp
I I'm OBSESSED with Grant Park!! This place is massive and there are a ton of different sections with different vibes. I walk my dog to the corner of Michigan/Harrison a few times every week before work. Going even just feet into the park drowns out the hustle and bustle of the city but still allows you to view all of the beautiful skyscrapers. The landscaping is GORGEOUS and the garden is extremely well kept. This is a perfect place to visit or bring family and friends because it's so centrally located to the museums, millennium park, downtown, and public transit.

Yelp
This park is huge. Very well situated in the area of Chicago. I enjoyed walking around the area and capturing picturesque. From the cloud gate, Buckingham fountain, waterfalls is all magnificent. It was so nice to walked around the park, although the weather was cold and a bit windy.

Yelp
This is a nice big park on the east edge of the Chicago Loop (the downtown area). It was designed by the same Civic-Engineer who designed parks in Washington DC and Paris. Grant Park borders Millennium Park to the North, The Art Institute and Michigan Avenue to the West, The Field Museum to the South, and Lake Shore Drive/Lake Michigan with its harbors to the East. Statutes and stone walled scenic walkways are scattered throughout the park, and there is a Band Shell where free concerts are held in the Summer, and the huge and beautiful Buckingham Fountain. There is also a lot of permanent and temporary public art. Subterranean passageways and bridged-walkways connect the park to locations in all directions. In the summertime Grant Park is host to numerous festivals and events, including the (now defunct but hopefully soon to be revived (Taste of Chicago), as well as Jazz Fest, The Highland Games, and much much more. This is also the place where the city came to see The Pope speak - and where tens of thousands come to watch the 4th of July Fireworks display over the lake. One reason why the park is so good for events is that it is mostly one enormous lawn, lined with a thin line of trees. Numerous underground parking garages serve the park (expensive) - and there is metered parking on nearly every adjacent street (much cheaper). Busses serve the park at all corners - and if you use the crosswalk to get to the harbor - there are inexpensive water-taxis that go from Grant Park to the Adler Planetarium and also Navy Pier.

Yelp
I'm sorry but the fountain was turned off. How am I supposed to remake the intro to Married with Children if it's turned off?! Such a bummer! Maybe a schedule is posted somewhere with functioning times? Or is it just turned off indefinitely? Whatever the case, I'd expect a tourist attraction to be working. Taking pictures seemed a lot less memorable because it was less artistic. Nothing much surrounds the park from a pedestrian standpoint. But I can see locals enjoying a picnic or lakefront relaxation here.

Yelp
This is a spacious park located within the heart of downtown Chicago. It is beautiful. I came here for Lollapalooza 2010. This is an awesome park which I could easily see myself running in, relaxing, or playing Frisbee. Whatever the case, Chicago is lucky to have such a great public area that is well kept and beautiful. Kudos to the Parkway Foundation.
