After driving to two places that were either closed or stopped making food, my bf and I went to this place we always passed in the area but never went to. Decided to give a chance. Got soup and two chicken pitas. So good and I mean so good. I’m particular on my chicken gyro and I rarely eat the whole thing. But this time I did. They’re not the size of your leg like some places do but it’s a reasonable portion. Leaves room to eat the delicious lemon chicken soup. I am totally getting it on my day off this week. And the service was pretty quick.

Great little hidden gem for Greek gyros and salads. The place is small for ample for most needs. The food is pretty good. Probably my favorite place for Greek in Newton. Definitely a must try if you like Greek or want a quick bite to eat. The lamb gyro is spot on.

You might walk by this place dozen times and never notice it. But you'd be missing out. This tiny joint has some excellent Mediterranean food. I ordered a lamb gyro, and it may have been the best gyro I've ever had. The pita was perfect. Crunchy on the bottom, soft and airy on the edges; structurally sounds, and packed with flavor. In addition, I ordered a lemon chicken soup that I have never heard of, and that was also delicious. Friendly staff, clean environment, fantastic food, cheap prices.

Protip: Call ahead if you want some lemon roasted potatoes, they are always good and in high demand. What good Greek food! Finely sliced lamb on a bed of Greek salad with a gorgeous chunk of feta cheese. The tzatziki dressing was tasteful and clean Their french fries are generous and salted with flakes, giving it a different take on the popular food. Stop by here for good take out, or a thoughtful lunch, as the Greek words painted on the walls promote a certain ethos about food and community.

Just ordered rice pudding. And it rice with cinnamon. So dry. Please learn how to make the rice pudding before putting it on your menu. So disappointed. It’s ok not knowing how to cook. Just don’t make people expect things and then find out or something different.

Ordered the fattoush with chicken Slovakia. I was very fresh and chicken moist. I wanted more spices for chicken, needed more spices and dressing to the fattoush salad. A piece of pita bread on side needed. Very fresh and will order again . The Greek salad and lamb kebab another person was eating looked delicious to order. Parking must be careful of meter maid ticketing

Definitely a great go-to for catering! The team was super professional and responsive, and the food was great. Would highly recommend for a good reliable option!

Ordered from here tonight and I have nothing but good things to say! We ordered the chicken and steak kabobs and they came with rice, peppers and onions and a Greek salad! Portions were big enough for 2 servings! The food was fresh and hot! Will definitely be ordering from here again!

No image because it was inhaled almost as quickly as it was prepared...which was crazy fast (like less than 10 minutes between order and pick up). Was craving a lamb gyro and tortured myself reading reviews on yelp, which was ultimately a silly endeavor since Grape Leaf is literally less than a mile away and turned out to be fantastic. Flavorful meat and tzatziki, warm pita - it was delicious. Craving not only satisfied, but perfectly met.

I've had the falafel wrap: nicely warmed wrap stuffed with just enough lettuce, tomato, onion, and tzatziki, 3 falafel with delightfully soft, light texture with crispy exterior. Perfectly done. Very tasty. Grape leaves delicious! Chicken gyro and chicken souvlaki yummy. Very nice counter service, and they have a small casual seating area inside, as well as outside space during nicer weather.

Worse Greek food ever. Roasted potatoes were boiled, and bland, asked server about them she said they are roasted and walked away. Greek avolemono soup was not lemony. Dolmas were dry and tasteless.

Ordered for next day pickup. Order was read on time and accurate. Staff was nice and friendly. Food was very good. We got lamb gyro, chicken gyros, spinach pie, grape leaves, baba ghanoush, tabouli, Greek salad and pita bread. Chicken gyro was with chunks of chicken. I prefer the shaved chicken but it was still tasty and good. Spinach pie was flaky and had lots of spinach and just the right amount of feta. Grape leaves were big but 3 to an order. Greek salad had the dressing mixed in already. It was fresh and the chunk of feta was delicious. The pita with the sides were fantastic! I will definitely be back to try more things on the menu! Sorry, forgot to take pics. We were hungry and dug right in!

We ordered takeout from Grape Leaf this weekend and really enjoyed it! I ordered the Mediterranean bowl with falafel. The falafel was so delicious and the perfect texture. The salad that came with it was also very good, although the amount of lettuce was quite small (but there was plenty of feta!). My husband thought his gyro was very good, too, and liked how the meat was actually freshly sliced off of a rotisserie unlike some other places we've been to recently. He was disappointed that only the gyro alone was $10, though, and it didn't come with fries without purchasing separately.

Having grown up on Long Island I love Greek food almost as much as I love pizza and bagels (ALMOST). Of course when I say Greek food I am talking about gyros (which according to my Greek friends I pronounce wrong) and those little spinach pastry things. All of that is to say I don't know the first thing about authentic Greek food, so this review cannot speak towards that. I will be focused solely on the taste. Rice Pilaf I LOVE rice pilaf but I did not love theirs. It wasn't bad but it needed a lot more seasoning. I did put some olive oil and garlic pepper on my leftovers and it was a lot better. I would give this a 3/5. Not bad, but just need a little more kick. Beeftakie Plate This was really good. They may not know how to season their rice but they know how to season their beef up proper! Their greek dressing on the side salad was also on point. This gets a 5/5 all day! Chicken Souvlaki It was a little dry but it tasted good. It is also grilled chicken so I can't expect to much as far as juiciness. I would give it a 3.5 out of 5. Overall Impression The food is good. If they had "fast food" in Greece, this is what I would imagine it being, Certainly much better than a McDonald's run but nothing that you'd go out of your way to get. Taste wise though, it is really good and even the parts that were a little plain could be fixed with a little salt and pepper. I want to give it a 3.5 but since they don't have half stars and I can't bring myself to give it a 3, they earn themselves a 4.

I think this is the best Mediterranean in the Newton area. Everything tastes so fresh. I'd recommend this over other Med spots in the same area. PROS: Great Tzatziki. The Pita bread is to die for. So many places use the bagged, thin, dry stuff. Grape leaf has the fluffy kind that make for good wraps. Gyro and Chicken Souvlaki are among some of the best I've had locally. Staff is friendly. CONS: Limited seating since the place is small. The fries always seem undercooked and soggy. I tried many times, even eating at the place instead of take-out, just to see if the fries were crispy. Twice I ordered Greek fries for take out and both ties they were regular fries when I got home. Check your take-out. :) I'd say portions could use an adjustment in terms of the wraps. I find myself always needing a side dish, even when I'd just prefer a size-able wrap. OVERALL: Great food. Clean restaurant. Very nice staff. Fair prices. There's a public (paid) lot around the corner (basically behind the building) that you should park in. Street parking is tough in that area because there are so many shops and restaurants.

I Love, Love, Love Grape Vine. This is a very nice family run business. The Owners Phillip & Jill are good people. Check Out my photos. The food is so good. Prices are right on for the Newton Highlands area, pretty affordable. The Grape Leaf is clean, staff is nice and helpful. Everything on the menu is incredible. My personal favorites are the Sweet Potato Fries. Ask for them "Extra Crispy". I also really like the chicken Gyros, Salads & the Homemade Greek Yogurt is amazing. Grape Vine is also Wheelchair accessible "No Power Door" but someone will open it for you. They do take Credit Cards as well. Eating here, you will not be disappointed.

Despite the vertical rotisseries on display, the lamb gyro I ordered looked and tasted like boiled meat. It resembled nothing like I would expect to come off a rotisserie. The meat was floppy like a roast beef. Definitely would not try that again. Their hand cut pita chips appear to be deep fried and improperly seasoned. Some pieces were coated in salt and some pieces had no salt at all. They were crunchy on the outside but then spongy and dripping oil which typically means the oil was not hot enough. I had also ordered a pastitsio which to my dismay when I got home, looked like it was leftovers from last month. The top was a displeasing grey brown color and was dry with an odd aroma. Pretty much no béchamel sauce. See sad photo. I rarely ever throw away food but unfortunately I threw it out because I was worried about getting sick, especially with that pastistio. Terribly disappointing.

I was excited to hear that a new Greek restaurant was opening in Newton Highlands because it is my favorite kind of food. They had a grand opening a week ago Saturday (that we missed) so my first trip was last Tuesday. My wife and I were offered samples of the chicken and pork it was awesome! We decided to get the chicken kabob Gyro with Home made pita and tzatziki and a side of rice pilaf. It was delicious to put it mildly. Fresh and yummy! I highly recommend eating here. We have been back a few times since our first visit !

OUTDOOR DINING, wonderful healthy food with a selection that's only gotten better since the pandemic. Their Mediterranean chicken bowl is omg good, with a big square of feta that is so much better than anything I've gotten at the grocery store. Very kind owner too - one time I ordered, with my toddler, and realized my wallet was elsewhere - the owner kindly handed me the food and told me to catch it up later. Things like that make a loyal customer for life.

Very affordable, great food, and friendly staff. I didn't see room to sit down inside, but there is nice outdoor seating. Update: I'm glad to hear that there is more seating.

Second time we are ordering from Grape Leaf and the food is outstanding. But the service is what really stands out. When we got home we realized that there was an error with the order. My wife called to let them know (more for their information than anything else) and within 10 minutes the manager was at our doorstep with an extra gyro to correct the order and some sweets as an apology. Quite incredible! Feels great to support a small business that clearly cares about its customers, especially when the product itself is outstanding.

My favorite Greek restaurant in the area. Lamb shank, moussaka, and pastitio are my fave. Wish they would make a grape leaf dinner plate w rice, sauce, salad. Their salad dressing is also so good!!

Really wanted to like this place. It looks like they have many Greek food items, including some beverages, which I was really excited about. The owner is Greek and appeared pretty authentic. Unfortunately both gyros I ordered (lamb and steak tip + shrimp) were not very good at all. Lamb was not a traditional gyro lamb from the rotisserie, but rather a lamb roast which was thin shaved, stored in a food storage container, and just rewarmed. Pita was burnt on both gyros. Soups I ordered were very oily and the lentil soup had more vegetables than the lentils. On top of that it's fairly pricey by comparison to other places we like that serve much better Mediterranean food. Overall not satisfied with the food and will not return.

I come here pretty often and lets just say I have always had a great experience. They now serve breakfast!!!! The home fries were so delicious and moist just the way they should be. Also, their salmon was spectacular over a Mediterranean bowl , never chewy or rubbery. There are always new faces there and are all pleasant. Anytime I make a specific request they are vey accommodating.

This is the place!!!! First of all from the minute you walk through the door you are treated like family, greeted by the friendliest-kindest people!!! Customer friendly!!! Clean and the savory smells as you walk up to and through the door will make your mouth water. Phil, the owner and his crew go above and beyond to serving the finest authentic geek food in large heaping portions are totally excellent, you will not be disappointed!!! During our last visit we started with the Greek Salad, so fresh if I hadn't heard the trolley rattle by I would had thought the lettuce was grown in the back. The homemade salad dressing was off the hook.....of course we had to have the traditional Gyro which after eating the Greek Salad we couldn't even finish our Gyro, not a problem we brought it home and had the left overs for dinner that night. However, we also knew enough to save room for Phil's homemade Baklava...to die for.....suggestion life is short eat dessert first. Don't have time to sit and eat, get it to go.... This a great hidden gem!!! Since I now live out of state I try to eat here when I can. Having been born and raised in Newton, the only other Greek Restaurant I can remember being this good was the old Boy on the Dolphin. The Grape Leaf goes one step above, with its great small town-family style atmosphere, which serves the local business community as well. This is a clean place to eat fresh homemade food, with generous portion size, at a great price. Not sure how they make a profit with the heaping servings they serve either....Thank you for the great meal always. Blessings!

Came here with my daughter last week and the food was outstanding. I had the chicken kebab and my daughter had a shrimp dish and both were excellent. The food was really fresh and cooked perfectly, will definitely be back.Highly recommend

The food was neither horrible nor great. I think serviceable is the best word. The lamb gyro and chicken gyros were disappointing if not bad. The lamb gyro looked like sliced deli meat, as in actual slices of thin shaved boars head meat. Not the the sliced from a vertical rotisserie kind. The chicken gyro was literally just grilled chicken. The Greek salad had no dressing on it and the Greek fries were just sad, limp fries with a container of Tzatziki on the side. Overall, I'd say save your money and drive an extra mile to Farm Grill and Rottiserie. I won't be going back to Grape Leaf.

Easily the best greek food in Boston, although the Feisty Greek is also on point. Highly recommend the gyro or the moussaka.

The food is absolutely amazing and the service is incredible! Had an error with our order and they were kind enough to not only replace our order but also provide us with some finger licking good baklava! They also have the cutest outdoor seating and the falafel gyro is a vegetarian must try!!

Fair place to visit. 3* and a half. Chicken kabob's chicken is slightly over cooked and becomes a little bit dry. The salad is rough too. Cheese and olives are not shredded and sliced so that some parts of the salad taste too condense. However, the overall taste is not bad. In addition, the stuffed pepper is really good. The stuffing is meat, rice and cheese. The pepper itself is well cooked and becomes soft and juicy. In conclusion, this place is worth trying. Since it is newly opened. I am still looking forward to its future new food product.

Whenever a place opens in the neighborhood I like to support, but had a bad experience. Paid $11.50 for a salad with rotisserie chicken. The salad had 2 small pieces of feta cheese, a few lettuce and spinach leaves, 2 olives, little cucumber, tomato, red onions and probably not even 1 oz of chicken. So disappointing when I saw the size of the salad for $11.50 (it doesn't even come with pita like other restaurants). They put the dressing container inside the bowl making even less room for more food as the bowl was so small. We also ordered the Soulvaki plate (chicken kabob) for 12.95 and it had more food than the mediocre size of salad they served for $1.45 more. However it had so much oil that I felt sick after. The chicken was also dry as it was overcooked. I love grape leaves, so I was excited to, at least, eat them. But, to my taste, they were so bad, that I could barely finish the bite. I've never found a place with bad grape leaves before. Even the ones you buy at Whole Foods taste a lot better. So sad to say I won't be going back as I like to support local.

I was craving Mediterranean food after class one day, and was surprised to find this place on Yelp so close to my school. Grape Leaf is fairly new, but their food is nothing to sneeze about. I ordered their moussaka and spanakopita. The moussaka was wonderfully tender and tasted amazing. The spanakopita was fluffy and crispy on the outside. I ask liked the decor inside of the place. Overall, a great find in Newton and recommended for any Mediterranean food lover.

I just tried the vegan platter for the first time and it was excellent! Delicious grilled tofu, falafel that was crunchy on the outside and creamy on the inside, perfect portion of hummus and pita, and a little tabouleh side salad. Great vegan option in Newton! I was impressed and will definitely come back.

Two of us ate lunch here today. We had the Greek Veggie Gyro & Pork Gyro & shared some Hand-cut pita chips. The chips reminded of us freshly made thick potato chips (just no potatoes) they were warm & served with tzatziki sauce. Very good! Both gyros were good. The break is lightly toasted, so the sandwiches are warm. Will need to go back so I can try the Spinach pie, salad & some of the other menu items There isn't a lot of seating. But we were able to grab a table.

I eat here once a week! Lobster Roll Greeksalad Lobster Mac and Cheese Lamb Everything has alway been delicious and bountiful amounts! Must try

Huge swing and a Miss here. Ordered two Mediterranean bowls off the website ordering system, neither of which were even close to what we ordered, missing more than half the ingredients we ordered, seems like the cooks just threw in whatever they were feeling. The lamb was under cooked and very fatty and the falafel had so much parsley you couldn't taste any other ingredient. Won't be going back.

Everything I've ordered here has been great. It feels a bit pricey to me, like a dollar or two high, but the food is fresh and the quality is prime so the added cost makes sense for the quality. The homemade soups blew my mind, as have the lamb gyros, the yogurt parfaits, and the homemade chips tossed in with a gyro order. Adding those little things makes a difference. Give this place a good solid go of it! Even if one item leaves you slightly disappointed, there will be others that absolutely don't.

I'm looking at Lia G's review from October 25th, and it's tough to improve on it. I had an excellent (as compared to the price) Mediterranean salad, which I ate outdoors on their "patio." They slice the meat right off the spit, and you can often smell the aroma on Lincoln and even Walnut Streets.

You know it has to be great to get these ratings in Newton. The food is fresh and delicious with generous portions. From the pita to the salad to the kebab everything was perfectly spiced and cooked just right. Nothing was too heavy or rich but pleasantly filling. Highly recommend for yummy takeout.

My family have been fans of Grape Leaf since they opened. Wonderful range of salads and hot foods for vegetarian or vegan tastes as well as traditional meats. Phil the owner takes a lot of pride in providing fantastic service as well as great food, which comes through no matter who you meet there. Phil catered a party for 50+ people recently for us and was very thoughtful in preparing the meal and service beforehand. On the night he turned up with two other servers and provided a memorably tasty experience for our guests.

I am really happy this place opened. We need more restaurants in Newton. The people are really nice and some of the food I've ordered (like the spanikopita) has been very good. However, if they are going to be able to compete with Anna's Taqueria across the street, I think they need to make a few changes. The fattoush and the gyros need to be improved. The fattoush had too much lettuce and not enough of the other stuff like cucumbers, tomatoes, olives and other leafy greens. Radishes would be nice too. I thought the meat for the gyros was tender and flavorful and the tzatziki is great. But, the gyro just didn't have a lot of flavor. It needs more tomatoes and onions. And why not offer up other toppings for the gyro like cucumbers, lettuce, herbs, pickled vegetables, olives, feta cheese, hot sauce? Lastly, I think there should be a recycling bin in the restaurant. Newton is pretty serious about recycling and people don't feel right throwing cans and plastic containers in the trash. So, again. I'm super excited that Grape Leaf came to Newton. I know it's a lot of work and it's a big risk to open a restaurant. So, I want to see them with a line out the door! I used to be a cook before I started my present career and I still cook a lot and explore restaurants all over. So, I think my opinion is well informed.

Gyros were good we got the lamb and tofu! Good price as well! The lemon potatoes were good simple yet tasty. The potatoes are in a mixture of olive oil and lemon juice but nothing too overwhelming. The rice chicken lemon soup was a tad bit too sour for me but definitely what is needed to fight off a winter's cold. Good food, affordable and tasty what more can you ask for? Definitely will come back :)
