The 11 Best Brunch Spots in Palm Springs | Eater LA

"Just southwest of Palm Springs, Grapefruit Basil occupies a space inside the Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort & Spa. It’s a bright place to catch a daytime meal with classic breakfast plates, brioche bananas Foster french toast, or buttermilk ricotta pancakes. Always order the grapefruit brulee, in which maple syrup is caramelized into a satisfying hardened crust on top of a halved sliced grapefruit." - Mona Holmes

Stayed at Tommy Bahama Miramonte over the weekend and booked a dinner at Grapefruit Basil, and OMGGGGG it did not disappoint. The ambience is beautiful, so peaceful and calming. There was also a live electric guitar player serenading at the bar area which added a nice touch. Was so exited about the menu and everything we ordered was savory and delicious! We ordered the clams to start and the roasted olives - both were so good. The lobster chowder was to die for. And the halibut is a must - so flavorful! Your taste buds will thank you. We ended the night with the the decadent lemon meringue and it was just perfect. Service was attentive, warm and hospitable. Servers always came by to check on us. When we come out to Palm Springs, we will be stopping by Grapefruit Basil again…thank you for an unforgettable dining experience. P.S, we also got breakfast & got the pancakes, french toast and roasted potatoes were all superb - came with all the fixings! :)

Loved everything here! I got the Thai salad with shrimp. My husband got the burger and the best double fried fries. The basil signature drink was tasty. The lemon meringue dessert was perfect. There were hardly any diners so service was fantastic.

We've been to Grapefruit Basil multiple times and always had a great experience, but this visit was the worst dining experience we've ever had at any restaurant. Our food took over an hour, and we watched other tables, who were seated after us, get their meals and finish up while we were still waiting. We ordered three burgers, an ahi appetizer to start, and crab Benedict. When the food finally came out, two of the burgers were well done (we ordered them medium-rare), and our son’s burger didn’t even arrive at all! They didn’t even notice until we pointed it out. We waited another 15 minutes for his burger, by which time everyone else had finished eating and he hadn't even started. The ahi appetizer was also brought out with the main courses, which was awkward. It was especially frustrating because this was on Father’s Day, and my mother-in-law was visiting from Hawaii. To top it off, when we got our son’s burger to go, it was overcooked as well. He didn’t even bother to eat it. It seemed like the server may have forgotten to enter our order or missed the burger entirely. Her explanation was that the bar got busy, but that doesn’t add up—other tables who arrived after us were fully served and finished before our food even came. A more honest explanation would have been appreciated.

During our 4 night stay at the resort, we ate most of our meals at Grapefruit Basil. Jorge was our morning waiter for our first morning and gave us exceptional service. Alicia was our hostess and was one of the nicest people we met at the resort. She treated us like gold! We ate dinner there for our anniversary and again received exceptional service from David.. Our third morning there was as different story. There was only one waitress present. (It was Jorge's day off). We sat at the same table as usual in the corner as we had our licensed service animal with us. The waitress took our order. It seemed to take forever to get our food. It finally came. My husband ordered the pancakes juice and coffee. That was the last time we saw our server or her assistant. They forgot our juice, we had to ask for it. They never came over to ask how our breakfast was. We had to also ask for refills on coffee when were were only able to the the server's attention by tapping on the window. My husband ate a portion of the pancakes although they were terrible, so dry you had to cut them with a knife.. If we had a server who would have stopped by and asked how our meals were, he would have sent them back. But that never happened. The server said she would take my husband's off of the bill. Shortly thereafter, the restaurant manager came over and in a rude tone of voice, said she would only credit us half of his breakfast since he had eaten only a portion of the pancakes. If someone had taken the time to ask us how our breakfast was, he would have sent them back and ordered something else. We love the resort and would like to come back but unless we have a good server and a different manager, we will probably not eat in this restaurant again. It was a horrible experience on our second to last morning of our stay.

We ordered room service. The cream for the French toast tasted a little off and we both had stomach issues after lunch.

Amazing experience every time we go here. Now 14 times. The Chef Matt is personable and humble. Great personality. My serving staff Felipe, Emmy, Melina, Crystal… they are wonderful, helpful and kind. It’s like Cheers!!! Sometimes you want to go where they know your name .. always glad you came…. !!! Cheers to Miramonte and their decision to get Tommy Bahama involved.

Had a nice experience at Grapefruit Basil tonight in the Tommy Bahama hotel. The restaurant is brand new and beautiful inside. We ate in the bar area since the main dining room was fully booked and thought both the food and service were solid. The hummus dish was awesome!

Google
We spent nearly a week at the Tommy Bahama resort, and had breakfast each morning in Grapefruit Basil. Lots of new staff being trained, as the resort picks up steam. Our server, Josie, met us on her first day and was so friendly and sweet during our stay! Everything was delicious, but stand outs were definitely the classic eggs Benedict, the fig and arugula appetizer, the tostada, and the burger. We especially appreciated the small but tasty list of non-alcoholic cocktails. So many restaurants only offer water or soda to those of us that choose to forgo alcohol for one reason or another!

Yelp
Everything on the menu is fantastic. Friendly staff, incredible craft cocktails. Sitting on the patio for dinner with live music makes for a tranquil experience.

Yelp
We had an incredible 2 meals at Grapefruit Basil! Dinner was delicious, homemade focaccia, burrata toast, brussels and to die for scallop carbonara! Our cocktails were also fantastic! One of my favorite dinners in a long time. Also the outdoor dining area is so cute, it's lit up with tree lights and there's live music. It's so relaxing! Our server Josie was delightful and was able to make some great recommendations! We also had brunch as well since we were staying at the resort and it was great! Brunch on the patio is dog friendly so our pup could join us. Food was delicious and coffee was good! Highly recommend this restaurant! We really enjoyed our stay at Tommy Bahama and our meals at Grapefruit Basil! Thanks so much for the great hospitality:)

Yelp
If you enjoy paying for a 'name' , then possibly this is the right place for you. So disappointed to go for 'Happy Hour' only to discover we were in a loud hotel lobby with dirty floors, and cafeteria style seating yet were expected to pay premium pricing for very mediocre drinks - even not ordering off 'Happy Hour' menu. Service was quick and pleasant- just not a place any better than an airport bar. Left to go somewhere else for snacks. Expected more from a place affiliated with Tommy Bahama.

Yelp
This place is amazing! The ambiance is relaxing and comforting. The food (we had the Ham Eggs Benedict and Crab Benedict- Simply put PHENOMENAL! The below three employees here went and got above and beyond. Our server Wendy (professional and courteous). She knows the menu inside and out and she did everything with a SMILE. Chef Mat we had the pleasure meeting. We had a small situation to which he was extremely professional and attentive to the situation. Not to mention he and his team need the upmost applaud for their food and presentation. And SMILED the entire time. General Manager Javier ensured that our time eating here was with strict professionalism and care. With a SMILED. Hopefully you see a commonality here - ALL SMILES, GREAT FOOD AND CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Yelp
A beautiful restaurant with delicious food! Sat outside and although it was a little chilly, they had heaters at each table. Service was great-It seemed a little slow, but only because the place was packed. Honestly, 1 star off because there wasn't a bread basket and the 1 slice of bread that came with my meal wasn't enough.

Yelp
Service ambience and food was all very excellent. We ate inside, which was lovely as the doors open to the beautiful outside that has lanterns everywhere and fire pits - beautiful live music was playing outside and overall it was a very delightful evening. Great service delicious food.

Yelp
We live in LA, but also have a property in Indian Wells. We decided to try a new restaurant down the street and after our first visit, we were hooked. Every visit feels like coming home, thanks to the warm and welcoming team, including Felipe, Emmy, and the rest of the outstanding staff. The food? Absolutely stellar. Chef Matthew Resler's farm-to-table approach results in unique, inspired dishes that are consistently top-notch in quality and creativity. Every plate is a testament to his dedication to fresh ingredients and bold flavors, setting Grapefruit Basil above the rest. We regularly order the Cioppino, steak and fish tacos, the burger, tuna tartare, Caesar Salad with Steak...haven't had a bad dish there. Mixologist Emmy makes the most beautiful and well balanced cocktails. Whether it's a special occasion or just a night out, this restaurant delivers excellence every time. If you're looking for a truly unforgettable dining experience, this is the place to be. Five stars, without a doubt!

Yelp
We've been wanting to try for a while now. The outdoor patio is really nice with fire pits and bocce. Tropical and old PS feel inside lobby area. I tried the signature cocktail called 'grapefruit and basil'. It was nice! I can recommend the focaccia and the salads - both the wedge (elevated from the basic with baby gem lettuce v iceberg) and the Caesar were great. I'm sad to say the Mac nut crusted halibut was not up to par. Overcooked for sure. Too firm and came off like fish and chips. The spaghetti squash dish was also 'good but not great'. Service was on point. The staff was attentive and on the ball. Overall- maybe I'd come back for happy hour and sunset cocktails but the kitchen has work to do to improve the entrees.

Yelp
Back in town for a 2 week stay and was so excited to stop into the new Tommy Bahama resort! We love the restaurant in El Paseo. We arrived for dinner and walked around the lobby bar area and outside. When it isn't terribly hot they have a lovely patio area to enjoy with fire pits, outdoor couches, tables and chairs. A bocce ball court which kept my son entertained while we enjoyed a drink! The decor is fun throughout the lobby, bar and restaurant. The restaurant was quiet and I was a little nervous about our 2 year old. We were the youngest folks apart from our servers. Anyways, we ordered drinks, they were really kind and cute with our son. Cocktail list if better and more unique than the wine list. We had to dine a bit quickly given an antsy kid but we enjoyed salads and a halibut dish. Food was good but lacked a wow factor, especially for the price. And everything was a bit under seasoned and spiced for my liking. My husband and I actually thought the kids chicken fingers and ranch sauce was better than the fish. Service was amazing! Young staff who were really attentive and welcoming. I always appreciate a restaurant and staff who are patient with dining parents and kids. I don't think we caused too much of a stir but this was an older crowd around 6pm on a weekday. Our server Pharoh was excellent from beginning to end. He could see we were trying to make a swift exit and kindly took care of our check and to go boxes very quickly and kindly. I'd love to see a more central theme to the menu here. Otherwise it just feels like trying to create an elevated experience to the casual TB spots but the food really isn't different but is more expensive. I'll be back though! I can't wait to enjoy drinks on the patio!

Yelp
The food and service was exceptional here! I came here to celebrate me and my boyfriend's 1 year anniversary and they hooked us up with free desert and a crab cake! Additionally, the manager (Javier) and the chef (Matt) had treated us like family. The steak was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth (we did medium rare), the mashed potato with it was a little bland. The Mary's chicken was tender and had this nice citrus sauce with it. My favorite dish was the tuna poke with tortilla chips! Overall great food, great people, and the noise level wasn't too high and the space provided romantic lighting.

Yelp
Have had breakfast at this place twice. Very scenic spot with great mountain and pool views. Big olive trees provide planets of shade for sitting outside getting fresh air. The breakfast is good. Have had the pancakes and French toast and liked both. Great friendly service.

Yelp
We had dinner here on the restaurant a few months back. The food was good, the staff was still working out some kinks as the had not been open long. We decided to go back and try happy hour at the bar and try their bar fare. We were sad to find out there was no happy hour. We sat for a while and no one came to help us, so we ordered a drink from the bartender. We sat a little longer and decided we weren't going to stay for dinner. A great option for the hotel guests, but maybe not for the local just out for a nice dinner. The grapefruit basil martini was however delicious!

Yelp
Food was fantastic. Agua chili was a slight miss, the fresh oranges in the dish made up for it. Not a great value, as the seafood was a bit amiss, but overall good. Breakfast was also a good idea. We sat outside, so the breezes were nice and the ambiance was fresh. Had water and ice teas, so nothing too special on the trip with drinks. Staff were pleasant and f quick to make sure needs were being attended to. We will be back.

Yelp
The 3 star rating is not for everything-food was delicious, including the focaccia ($9) and brocolli risotto. The Mary's chicken was cooked perfectly and the steaks were cooked how we requested. Our disappointment was with the drinks that took 20 minutes to arrive. Some ingredients and garnishing that were listed in the menu was mistakenly added (ex. grilled pineapple for pine martini). We asked our server if they had blue cheese olives for an extra shaken vodka martini and was told yes. The martini came out warm and included regular olives. Our server didn't bother telling us she made an error and that the bar doesn't have blue cheese olives. Outdoor atmosphere is super nice and the fireplaces are great. Some folks inside the restaurant didn't like the "French sliding" doors open and requested them to be closed because they felt cold. When management asked us if everything was ok, we said we understood that the restaurant is still new and gave our feedback. After that, there was no follow up and the server came back upset with us. We put our credit cards out to indicate we were ready to pay. She took our payment but didn't bother providing the itemized receipt. I'd go back to try the place again and hopefully it'll be a better experience.

Yelp
I just got back from one of the worst dining experiences. I've had in a good couple of years. Actually, I'm sad that it was such a miserable experience because I really like the ambience and the menu was terrific. It is New Year's Day. When we got there, our server told us that they were pretty slammed and that we could anticipate waiting 20 to 25 minutes for our food. No problem, we all understand that's the way things go sometime. I laughingly said, "no problem on thewait, but you can get a coffee poured for me really quickly, right?" She said not a problem. I didn't see her again for another minutes... not to bring me the coffee,, not to take our order to get it into the kitchen that was already behind. Believe it or not, the restaurant wasn't actually that busy. Perhaps room service was and it was causing a delay in the kitchen, but that had little to do with the servers. Considering they were well aware that the kitchen was running slow. It would've been nice with them to check back from time to time during the really long wait for our food. Nothing. No coffee, refills, although I asked for cream and sugar with my coffee, she didn't bring the sugar. No refills on the water, no smiles with some sort of, " hey thank you for your patience. Hopefully it won't be too much longer." no nothing. When the food came, we asked for ketchup, salt, and they forgot to bring toast for our friend's breakfast. We asked for the salt and ketchup right away, neither of them never came to the table. Once we started eating, Rob asked the server for the toast. She said it would be right up. We finished our breakfast, no salt, no ketchup, and no toast. As Rob was taking his last bite of food, the server walked by and said, "You didn't get your toast?" he said no. Her response? She said, "Oh." no apology, no, "let me check on that," just "Oh" before she walked away. We sat and waited a few minutes more to see if she would actually bring the toast. Of course she never did. The place was a disaster. Lots of guests around us were super pissed off and I don't have the sense anybody was angry because the kitchen was running slow. The problem was the absolute lack of hospitality or customer service showed by the servers. It was absolutely ridiculous. I had friends come in from LA just to go to brunch with us, and frankly, I was embarrassed to have had them drive 2 1/2 hours for this horrible experience. It's a shame that this experience was so disgraceful because the ambience was great, the menu had terrific and interesting items, and the food was good. Having a slow kitchen, or having somebody on the kitchen staff call out on a holiday is a temporary condition. Bad customer service is something altogether different. That problem isn't going to be gone in the morning. I do want to reiterate, my complaint is not because the kitchen was backed up, I completely understand that, my complaint is about the utter of lack of regard the staff showed us. The guy behind us went off on the manager and said, " this meal is on you." I thought he was pretty breast and aggressive, but I have to say, I don't think he was wrong to suggest that management pick up of the meal. That's how bad the service from our server was. In hindsight, we should've demanded the same. I can't say that we will never go back, but it will be a long long time before I try it again; long enough that maybe they will have either train the staff they have, or they have new staff in the restaurant. UPDATE: so I got the obligatory "We're sorry" message. I got the message both here and as a private message. I responded to the private message, got no response; not from the person who responded here, not from the restaurant manager. I can't say I'm surprised, a complete lack of concern other than an obligatory, "our kitchen is running behind," or "I'm sorry," seems to be about all they can muster. A hollow apology isn't worth much.

Yelp
Grapefruit Basil is a hidden gem amongst a desert oasis. The food is 5 star quality at 2 or 3 star prices. The signature drink is refreshing and flavorful with a good balance of sweet and tang. The crab cake is what a true crab cake should be - all crab, less "cake" with beautiful texture and flavor. The salmon literally melts in your mouth. The lemon meringue and lava cake were to die for! Our waitress, Josie and head chef Matthew really make you feel like family. Their recommendations are spot on and they go above and beyond in hospitality! I definitely recommend making this a stop if you are ever in the area!

Yelp
We were staying at the hotel for my fiancé's birthday and decided to have dinner here! Robert was our server and he was amazing, it seems like the menu has changed with a lower price point compared to before. We had the halibut and skirt steak and they were both delicious, our only complaint is that the mashed potato in the skirt steak arrived cold was everything else was steaming hot. Robert hooked it up with dessert for my fiancé's birthday and we chose the Mexican Hot Chocolate lava cake and it was amaaaazing! The ambiance decor was romantic and beautiful but it was a bit ruined by so many families with kids so expect it to be really loud. Other than that, we might come back again, but with family not for a romantic dinner.

Yelp
We were staying at Tommy Bahama and arrived early for check-in. We decided to have a drink and some appetizers, trusting the Tommy Bahama restaurant to deliver the quality we usually enjoy. However, our food took a long time to arrive. While the quality was acceptable, it wasn't great, and the fish and shrimp weren't fresh. On a positive note, the customer service was excellent.

Yelp
We enjoyed a great lunch outside in a garden setting amongst the olive trees . Beautiful place. We came here after I heard from friends how good it is. I agree. Worth checking out. The service was a little lacking but the setting and food was great.

Yelp
Excellent service, tasty fresh and healthy food in a beautiful environment. This recently renovated restaurant is gorgeous. Every time I have been here I have had a great experience. It doesn't take long to get your food and the food tastes great. I opted to order dessert because I love lemony treats especially when they have a COOKIE crust. It was delicious and large enough for 4 people to share! I love the fact that they give Indian Wells residents a discount with your resident card. Highly recommend

Yelp
*Sweet & Sour Grapefruit Basil* Went into this with high-hopes, yet my first dining experience fell kinda flat in some areas but shined in others. The girl who took our resy was unfriendly on the phone and booked our table for the wrong night. Thankfully, Bernice, at the hostesses station was understanding & accommodating and sat us at a cozy corner booth with a nice round table -- but towards the front entrance and had to watch and observe patrons and all the workers walking back & forth and back & forth for 2.5 hrs. Tho grateful to get seated because it was a busy night and booked for the evening. And since it was raining, the outdoor patio was closed for dining. Due to the resy mistake & hiccup, wifey & I weren't able to sit in the bar for before-dinner drinks as intended. Resy for 7pm -- arrived at 6:30pm, but it was recommended we be seated in the restaurant pronto, to avoid the risk of not getting a table @7pm or thereafter. Oh well, so it goes. Matt was a very kind host and showed us to our table...and then immediately greeted by our fantastic and charismatic waiter Jacob. The restaurant is extremely loud & noisy due to terrible acoustics, so I don't recommend a quiet or romantic dinner here (even our waiter had to shout as we spoke and also needed to stand by my side at times to speak to each other) Without getting into more storytelling rants, I'll get to the sweet & sour specifics. Wifey's glass of Argyle Pinot Nior: she claimed it was excellent. But a disappointing short-pour. Appetizer: Dungeness Crab Cake was not a Crab Cake. It was a lump of crab with bread crumbs dusted on top. Thankfully, the crab was pretty good and wasn't fried & oily. Not sure what's going on in the kitchen but they also really need to rethink the sauce(s) because half of it is too much like a spicy tuna mayo for sushi...and the other half is way too spicy. (glad I saved that spicy tuna sauce for my Entree' -- more about that later) The mixed greens were fresh and excellent produce. Blue Fin Tuna with Broccoli Risotto: my Tuna was outstanding, fresh and cooked perfectly. The texture of the Risotto was fine, but was plain & lacked flavor and it was served/arrived lukewarm. Additionally, the sauce for the Entree' falls very flat and not sure what's going on with it, but I think the chefs need to also rethink this dish & sauce. Thankfully the Tuna was on-point, cut simply with a fork and used that spicy tuna type sauce to enhance the flavor profile. Macadamia Nut Crusted California Halibut: wifey enjoyed this dish to an extent. The fish was fresh & flakey but the coating was a bit mushy. Normally Halibut is a thicker cut of fish and this is served more flat/thin. The sauce was very good and so was the asparagus but would like to see more of it on the plate. Mexican Hot Chocolate Lava Cake: I wanted the Meyer Lemon Meringue Pie (our waiter said it's his fav) but wifey isn't a lemon dessert kinda gal like her hubby...so I let her have it her way. 20 minutes pass and nothing. Jacob comes by to apologize (great move on his part because we were wondering what was taking so long) 10 minutes later dessert was finally served with another apology about a "mishap in the kitchen." Appreciated the honesty. Then Jacob really upped his game and informed us that the dessert was on-the-house and the Crab Cake too. Very generous and appreciative of the gesture. Good thing the dessert was gratis because the cake was burnt around the sides & edges and stuck to our teeth. The Hot Chocolate Sauce was pretty good tho and not overly sweet. The ice cream served was pretty good too and worth cheating with eating the dairy. Since I was unhappy with the dessert (and it was compted) I couldn't stop thinking about that pie and ordered it to-go for the next day :) But it was just okay. The crust was pretty good but the pie itself was mostly sour lemon pudding and lacked more meringue to balance it out. After dinner cocktail in the bar: went with their special = the Grapefruit Basil Martini, but it was nothing special -- tasted simply like Vodka & Ruby Red Grapefruit Juice that anyone can bartend at home. But what was special? Our waitress Lesley who was oh so sweet & kind. Glad we decided to hang around after dinner for the cocktail because there was an incredible solo electric guitarist who blew me away with a sweet & peaceful rendition of Pink Floyd's "Wish you were here." And glad I was there to hear. Grapefruit Basil has potential. Being open for 6 months should be enough time to iron out the kinks. I hope management & the chefs take these reviews seriously and not as a grain of salt. The quality of the food was very good and service too. But for the prices they charge, there's much more room for improvement in the kitchen. Would consider revisiting and dining outside in a more relaxed environment. But honestly, I'd rather have dinner at Tommy Bahama for better food & desserts, and save a little money too.

Yelp
We visited Grapefruit Basil when staying at the Tommy Bahama Miramonte and looked forward to our meal. We asked for outdoor seating for 5 and were initially told there was no room outside. (It was empty.) We asked how long the wait was, the hostess checked and said she could seat us at a larger table outside right away, lol. The location was gorgeous looking out at the well-groomed pea gravel grounds, outdoor fireplaces and olive trees with dangled lanterns. Our server was nice and brought us coffee and juice right away. She took our order and it took a LOOOONG time to be served. Once we got our food, the omelette I ordered as a scramble was wrong, but I ate it anyways. My son had the French toast and bacon with a side of eggs, (he liked it) pancakes were ordered by others and one additional omelette. The food was okay, but service seemed off. Perhaps it was due to it being Spring Break.

Yelp
I love the ambiance of their patio, you are able to walk in and seat yourself and a member of their wait staff will take your order. There are several fire pits and comfy chairs. Their lobster chowder soup was really good, however their Cesar salad, asparagus and mashed potatoes were just ok.

Yelp
First off, we had amazing service from our waitress Gloria who was so kind and gracious. The hollandaise sauce literally exploded in my mouth and I could tell it was made fresh that morning and hinted to a stronger lemon flavor than normal but I really liked it. My wife ordered the omelette and it came out, fluffy and cooked the perfection. Her side of toast came on its own plate with fresh apple butter. We ordered two vanilla cappuccinos, and could not be happier with our service.

Yelp
Dinner outside on the patio is just beautiful. The fish tacos were cooked perfectly I went with my friend for her birthday and then took my husband back the next night forgot to get picture! The salmon on the broccoli rossito was so delicious (sorry no picture!) Dessert was the best. Chocolate lava cake and the butterscotch mousse were good but I loved the cookies! Don't forget to order bread with butter and orange honey!

Yelp
Ambiance can't be beat and is the primary reason I give this establishment 4 stars. The service is just okay and the menu doesn't have a very wide variety of entrees, but it does have many terrific appetizers and I recommend making a meal out of several of those. The crab cake is especially magnificent! As is the soup. There is plenty of parking, and I recommend getting a patio table at around sunset so you can enjoy the best aspects of the property while you eat.

Yelp
I'm shocked to see people giving anything less than 5 stars. My experience was stellar. Tina was my waitress and she was absolutely perfect. She explained the menu items and her favorites she made sure I was warm while seated outdoors she noticed I wasn't drinking my cocktail and asked several times if she could swap it out for something I'd like better. These small things matter so much. You could tell she genuinely cares. And by the way the skirt steak was very good. Oh and the focaccia bread they give when getting seated is unbelievable

Yelp
Such a cute little brunch spot! Located inside the Tommy Bahama Resort in Indian Wells, Grapefruit Basil is a perfect place to get a brunch. I made reservations online for groups of 2 tables of 5 each since their online system couldn't allow for that large of a reservation. However, they were super accommodating! I asked if there was a possibility to seat our tables close together and they offered to arrange for us to have a large table. Granted, the restaurant was pretty quiet when we went, I'm still glad they were able to seat us together. Highly recommend the crab cake benedict! I loved every bite of it. The crab cake was full of crab, rather than mostly starch like many places tend to make them. I'd come back and order that again for sure. The lobster frittata was good, filled with lobster which was very yummy, not tough at all. The banana foster french toast was sweet and decadent, if you like bananas and have a sweet tooth, you'll love this! The parking is off in the back, which can be challenging to find the restaurant entrance through the courtyard of the resort, but not impossible. You just have to meander a bit and look out for signage.

Yelp
Restaurant located in Tommy Bahama hotel. First time visit to restaurant and impressed!! We dined on their lobster corn chowder, which was delicious( especially on a chilly desert evening) Followed by their creamy, tasty crab cakes and toasted rustic bread!!! Due to the size of dining room and number of doors, it can get chilly! Bring a jacket. Excellent service

Yelp
The service is incredibly slow and despondent. It just seems like no one really knows what's going on nor do they care. Clearly no management oversight because there are a lot of people working in the restaurant, I'm just not sure what they're doing. Drinks took forever. Food was served lukewarm and was fair. We sat with our dirty plates well after the waitress brought the check. Arugula was soggy, bacon was under cooked. It was just so disappointing. The ambiance is nonexistent. The trees in between the booths are sad and dying, no art on the walls. Patio is very nice. No reason to return. Sorry, Tommy, we gave you a few chances but we'll go back to the restaurant on El Paseo.

Yelp
Grapefruit Basil Restaurant is located inside of the newly renovated Tommy Bahama Miramonte Resort in beautiful Palm Desert. The restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining options all with beautiful tropical inspired decor. We arrived at 4:30 and were told the restaurant opened at 5pm. So, we put our names in and headed to the adjacent bar for a cocktail. At 5pm we returned to the hostess and we were told they were still not ready to open. So, we stood off to side and joined a few other couples of other parties waiting to be seated. About 5:15 a LARGE group of people... all wearing name tags descended on the hostess desk and asked if they could have coffee and tea delivered to the hostess desk? I could not believe my eyes...when one of the people in group started yelling out "how many coffees and how many teas".... A dozen coffees and two teas were ordered and served at the hostess desk ... all meanwhile NO dining guests have been seated! Unacceptable. These hotel guests should have been accommodated at the adjacent bar.... Or, their order taken and then asked them to wait outside in the stunning courtyard or in the beautiful lobby... but NOT taking up the hostess desk where it created a terrible sense of frantic energy. I've included a video to give an idea of the inaccessibility of the hostess desk that was converted to a coffee bar. There was a large party of 16 waiting to be seated for dinner... three other couples and ourselves.... So the chaos was SIGNIFICANT at the hostess desk and a TERRIBLE way to start dinner. We we're finally seated at 5:30 after I approached the hostess asking if we were going to seated anytime soon. We ordered our meals, additional cocktails (that were badly needed after the chaos) and finally settled in long enough to realize the restaurant was almost empty. Crazy given the mayhem at the desk. NONE of the hotel coffee drinking guests we're dining there?????? The service was great, Abby and Jason were our servers and they were fantastic! Our meals exceeded our expectations and deserts were on the mark and made for a great way to end our evening. We will definitely be back to Grapefruit Basil ... only three stars were awarded because ONE the restaurant should have opened on time and started seating guests at 5pm... and TWO... the ridiculous accommodation to allow 15 hotel guests to order and be served coffee/tea at the hostess desk at 5:15pm MEANWHILE guests are waiting to get in and be seated... should have been handled differently.

Yelp
We spent the weekend at the resort and we had the chance to visit the restaurant at the property. The food was good, the ahi poke was outstanding and the drinks were great too. However, we will remember the service provided by Albert and Felipe. They both made us feel welcome, provided great service with a smile and went above and beyond to provide a great experience. Thank you we will be back.

Yelp
Beautiful restoration! The restaurant, bar, lobby, and courtyard are all gorgeous. This was our second experience with the new Tommy Bahama Miramonte. The first time, a week ago, was less than satisfactory. We went into the bar for a couple of drinks and ordered a charcuterie board. Several minutes later, the server came back to say they were out of the roasted olives, which were supposed to be on the board and which, separately, are the first item on their appetizer list. After we declined a substitution, we canceled the order. From then on, our server was invisible... or we were invisible to her. We waited and waited for our check and she never came by or even looked our way, though there was only 1 other patron in the bar. I raised my hand, trying to get her attention and finally, a manager came over and asked what I needed. Suddenly, the server noticed and came running over. If I rated this location based on this experience, it would be a single star. But... A few days later, we thought we'd try the restaurant for brunch. This time, the food and the service were both excellent. Gloria took great care of us and was sunny and delightful. Our good was plentiful and delicious I would give this 5 stars except for our first, unsatisfactory experience.

Yelp
The most delicious dinner we've had in the desert in many years of living here. The ambiance, service and food were all exceptional. The patio is beautiful. The menu has something for everyone and everything we ordered was exceptionally prepared. The halibut and short rib were amazing as well as the chocolate lava cake desert. Can't say enough great things about this restaurant. Don't miss it!!

Yelp
If you are anywhere near Palm Springs/Desert, please add this to the top of your list of places to eat. Impeccable service, gorgeous ambience and the food, oh my the food! Homemade bread with rosemary orange blossom honey butter, burrata bruschetta with grapefruit and pomegranate, spaghetti squash was divine and the butterscotch pudding heavenly. And the mocktails WOW! It's a foodie haven with the friendliest most professional service in a world where this a dying art.

Yelp
Evening visit. Nicely decorated. Quickly seated. We sat outside with a view of the pool and fire features. The chicken with risotto was absolutely fabulous. I added sautéed spinach. The combination was delectable. Our waiter Nelson was friendly, informative, and readily available for us. The four star review is because upon arriving the host at the front desk was a bit snippy with us and because our Cadillac Margaritas (delish!) took almost 30 minutes to arrive.

Yelp
I was seated and waited for 20 minutes. No one came by to offer water even. I left. Menu extremely limited. I will not be back.

Yelp
When we arrived at the valet - we were instructed that valet parking was for hotel guests only and they directed us to parking lot behind the hotel - very odd. Our reservations were for 5pm dinner, only to arrive to find the restaurant had not opened yet. Was told staff was running late, we could see them standing in the restaurant having a staff meeting - very odd. We they turned on their computer, they hostess said they were sure they could squeeze us in. I reminded her that we had a 5pm reservation. She didn't seem to know who to look up reservations. By the time we were seated there were about 20 people standing in the hotel lobby waiting for the restaurant to open - even though the my were "supposedly" open. Diners were very disgruntled. When we were seated we asked how long the restaurant had been open, given the confusion and chaos. We assumed it might be a soft-opening night. We were told they had been open for 4 months. When our waiter arrived be was terrific and asked us to given them another try - still working out the kinks. He was very professional and recognized us a local family. As for the food - outstanding!!! Everything was absolutely delicious, which led me to believe the kitchen is well-prepared and top-notch. We tried several things on the menu and they were all terrific. Conclusion - I think without a quick management change and turn around, the restaurant will either close or be revamped into another standard hotel restaurant. Tommy Bahamas needs to be careful on how this restaurant could impact their other restaurants. We will be going back to the TB's on El Paseo and watch to see what happens at the hotel restaurant. They will certainly sell drinks to in the summer to pool-goers, but can they draw and keep diners is the question.

Yelp
Lovely indoor & outdoor setting. We went here for lunch and ordered the steak burger, halibut tacos, and omelette. Everything tasted good, it'd be great if they have more selections on the menu, but we will defenitely come back for dinner!

Yelp
The food was delicious. I had the spaghetti squash, the wedge salad and the lemon meringue pie. I've never had a better pie. We dined outside with a view of patio and mountains. Service was good, refilling waters and asking us how we're doing often. Enjoy!

Yelp
The food was delicious and the service was top notch! Christina helped us this weekend and she was incredible! I was indecisive about what to order, so she kindly went over the menu with us and recommended the dungeness crab cake & the California halibut. I'm so glad she helped us because the food was great. I'll definitely be coming back :)

Yelp
Went there for brunch, the ambience was nice, serene makes for a relaxing brunch. Food was slightly on the higher side, proportion was fair. We got. Halibut Taco, Three Egg Omellete and the ShortRib Burger . Everything was good, nothing too outstanding. Will try to go back and try dinner menu.

Yelp
As always, the ambience, waitstaff and food meet the expectations of resort dining for a relaxed feel. Tucked in on Hwy 111, it's great for any day of the week for a lunch with friends , loved ones or even clients.
