Say Goodbye to Lower Greenville Dining Institution The Grape and Its Famous Burger | Eater Dallas

"After 47 years in Lower Greenville, I learned that The Grape will close for good on October 10; back in February the hallowed neighborhood institution had already gotten out of the Sunday brunch game, citing a lack of traffic through its doors. Owners Brian and Courtney Luscher — who bought the restaurant from original owners Kathy McDaniel and Charlotte Parker in 2007 — said that, at the crossroads of their lease renewal, the family decided to head out on a different path and embark on "another amazing Luscher family adventure." There's still time to try The Grape's classic cheeseburger with horseradish pickles, bacon, and Vermont cheddar (called the "Best Burger in Texas") or its beloved cream of mushroom soup, and the restaurant posted on Facebook: "It's been the best ride." - Adele Chapin

Its truly a gem in Downton Canton. We serve more than just wine, we have a full drink menu - and we make some of the best cocktials around... In my humble opinion;) I also love their live music on Thurs, Fri, and Sat! -Thursdays are my favorite because we have open mic and SO many great musicians come out!

Was a crazy fun night for First Friday! They always have the best live music And the owner and entire staff are fabulous! We particularly love the great wine selection in my husband likes the beer selection. But I did cave in and try one of their awesome cocktails. The Rhubarb daiquiri was delicious.

By your own logic, her total price should have been $60 and some change not $80. And if pitchers are $30 how did I get charged $40 for buying 1 pitcher? And when I tip $8 on a $40 check, and 51.21 comes out of my bank account, your fudging tips too. If you’re going to force gratuity on your customers, tell them.Environment was awesome but integrity and transparency is more important.

Such a special Canton gem! Stop in for some wonderful wine, creative drinks and live music! Thank you so much for allowing me to purchase some of your amazing stained glass! Perfect spot to look for artwork and fun gifts!

Update: after posting this review, I recieved the reply in the photo, Once I asked why the math didn't add up, the owner reply was updated to reflect pricing that would match the bill I recieved. The confusion on pricing was not because I didn't hear the price correctly (as the photo shares) I was mislead. It's very unfortunate because I did enjoy myself....But honesty is key in customer service, and after the reply from the owner was altered to ensure the math works, I am not convinced this is an honest establishment. Get a receipt! I went to first Friday with my daughter and ordered one pitcher of sangria (which I was told was $30) and one charcuterie board. The bill was $80.63. I thought it was high but paid it anyways. The bartender seemed nice enough so I didn’t get a receipt, but I wish I would have. I highly doubt that charcuterie board was $50. Atmosphere and food were good but gettin price gouged like is awful.

Yelp
My husband and I had a great experience here a few months ago (I may have forgotten to review this place in a timely fashion ). The patio area is adorable and the inside atmosphere is fun and moody. Staff was very friendly. We didn't eat here but enjoyed our wine selections.

Yelp
I don't even know how to describe this gem. It's weird, fun, fancy, casual; it's everything. It's an art gallery, a gathering place. It's amazing. And Tara, the bartender makes it all make sense. Just go. I promise you will fit in.

Yelp
Had a chill time at Grapes in a Glass tonight, checking out the Star County Restaurant Month scene. Enjoyed some amazing wines and a bice charcuterie board. Perfect spot for a laid-back evening in downtown Canton.

Yelp
If you're looking for a great place in downtown Canton to grab meet friends for a drink, catch up, and enjoy some live music, Grapes In a Glass is the spot for you. Located right across the street from the Palace Theater, this wine tasting room/tapas bar showcases wines from all over the world, as well as cocktails, beer, and light appetizers. They also sell local art and often showcase live music on the weekend evenings. This is a perfect spot to grab an appetizer before venturing out for dinner downtown or stopping by for a nightcap after a show at the Palace. We particularly love watching the owner's travel videos play on the television as we enjoy our drinks, guessing where each photo is from. Last weekend, we enjoyed the Canton Restaurant Week special of a flight of wine and bruschetta for $15. The bruschetta was fresh and bright and the wines were sweet and crisp. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
Grapes in a Glass is a nice little gem in downtown Canton. It's a locally owned small business and Tamara, the owner is almost always around. Her and her staff are very knowledgeable and can make great recommendations if you're looking to try a new wine. They also have flights of wine which is a great way to try something new and have your own little wine tasting. My favorite is the bubbles flight with Prosecco and champagne from all over the world. Speaking of, they have two different types of the worlds best champagne! They come in splits and may be considered a little pricey but, when you've had a long day or a wonderful day, treating yourself to these champs are the way to go!! What also makes this a fun place are the local musicians who play on weekends and the fun items they have for sale. Everything a wine enthusiast would love - locally made artwork to wine accessories to funny gift items. As you're walking down the streets of downtown Canton make sure to stop in and say hello and have a drink!

Yelp
Love this place! They really know their wine and some of the bartenders are sommeliers. They have a huge variety of tasting flights and an impressive collection of wine. Mixed drinks/cocktails are available too. They often have live music. Food is very good - they have a nice selection of well made appetizers.... not greasy bar fare. If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to get rid of the merchandise and add more seating. The Merchandise area kind of takes away from the atmosphere and the decor which consists of stunning photos of people and landscapes from around the world.

Yelp
I popped in here in the later afternoon and was very surprised at their extensive wine collection. They are well stocked with wine that you can purchase and drink there, or choose from their many flights. They also have a stocked bar and a number of beer choices if wine isn't what you're looking for. The staff was friendly and attentive as well as very knowledgable on their wines. The space is quite large with comfortable seating (especially the couch by the window). I will definitely be returning!

Yelp
Best wine imports around. Experience is delivered by a certified sommelier and her friendly staff. Definitely worth a stop by on a Friday or Saturday night to sip, snack and listen to acoustic music.

Yelp
Went here last Saturday to celebrate an anniversary, boy was it a mistake. The wine selection was abysmal for a place that calls itself a wine bar. We ordered the Charcuterie plate and a Margherita pizza. They arrived a solid 45 min after placing our order. I could have probably gotten better Charcuterie at the local McDonalds and the pizza was cold. We told our server and she acted like she couldn't have cared less. The wine was decent but a much lower quality than we are used to. Also the place could use an update we found the decor dated and looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. We will not be back and with all the great places in downtown Canton I would highly recommend you choose another spot.

Yelp
Tamara the is a hands on knowledgeable owner and sommelier. So many fine wines to choose from and good food to accompany your choice. Employees are quite colorful and engaging personalities, very nice and helpful... Prices are fair and atmosphere is warm and cozy. Come in for some interesting conversation and good service !! Will be back, Love this little place! Eric A Caspersen Jackson Twp

Yelp
Both the wine selection and the staff are great! Love the idea that you can order a flight to try several wines at one seating. Also, you can order cheese plates to accompany your wine, or go all out and order from Basil's, located next door. I feel comfortable going there alone; lots of safe parking nearby. Photos taken by the sommelier's husband, a professional photographer, line the walls. I highly recommend stopping in when you're in downtown Canton (perhaps before or after an event at the Palace Theater?!)

Yelp
I have been in here a couple of times before my visit tonight and I really want to like this place. It's local. It's downtown . The owner has no concept of customer service. I ordered a caprese pizza and (15 minutes after I ordered it) I was advised they were out of it. While waiting for my son's pizza ( that took 45 minutes to receive) the table beside us got a caprese salad and they ordered after I had. While we were waiting for the 45 minute pizza that was not good, we were not offered more to drink. I had wine and my son had water. I will give a little credit to the server. He was very busy and other than the lack of drinks, he was quite pleasant. When I asked the owner about the pizza and how a table that ordered after me received a pizza she stated she was not sure what happened. She then apologized and offered to comp my meal. I DID NOT HAVE A MEAL it was given to the table beside me. I pointed that out and she passive aggressively wished me a good night. I would steer clear of this place. I know I will not be going back.

Yelp
Happened upon this quaint place and it made our night even better. The food menu is concise but filled with grand items. The wine selection was incredible. I have to think that the owner or owners have a great sense of humor and took time to get to know the guests. We had to leave too soon due to other commitments but I wish we could have stayed for the Open Mic Night.

Yelp
Happened upon this little spot while visiting Canton. They have an impressive wine selection and a fun atmosphere. What prevented me from giving this place another star was the terrible customer service. We sat at the bar, but the bartender didn't follow up even engage in conversion. Not sure if I'll give this place another chance.

Yelp
We went here for First Friday because they were serving UNICORN Blood, Harry Potter theme. But the drink wasn't very good even though it had muddled berries and Dry ice. There wasn't a good or large selection of good. A pretzel was 12 dollars which I thought was a bit too pricey. They had live music playing and art on the walls which was nice. But I don't think we will ever go back. Just a bit of an odd place. Maybe if all you wanted wss an expensive drink with friends.

Yelp
Every time we come in we have a great time! Friendly and upbeat atmosphere and eager staff. No matter what your taste is, they can help! Love the local and intimate atmosphere:) haven't tried the food yet since they extended the menu, but this is the place to go downtown if you're looking for an intimate evening, with good wine, beer, and a food menu! Two thumbs up! We love you guys

Yelp
We just went back to Grapes in a Glass last Friday and THEY NOW SERVE FOOD!! Great live music, awesome wine suggestions and some wonderful food - what's not to love?? Stop by, you'll be glad you did!!

Yelp
I don't visit downtown canton that much, so when I do I try to make the most of it. When I first heard about grapes in a glass I was intrigued and wondered if the area could suppose such a place. I was pleased with nearly my whole experience. A clean, quiet, art-driven ambiance makes for a good date spot. The art on the walls are mostly all for sale and I saw many that I actually liked. As you can imagine this is a wine spot, but they have a really impressive beer list as well (all bottled, however). They serve cocktails with a decent spirit selection as well as a small selection of meats and cheeses to snack on. So why not a full 5 stars? Well, simply for me it was the price. My wife and I each got a flight of wine (3-2oz pours) and a plate of meat/cheese/olives and with tip our bill was $42. Seemed a bit steep for what we got, but it didn't sour my experience that much. Grapes and a glass still makes for a fun night out with a more adult-like environment.

Yelp
The is a very nice place to relax and have a glass of wine! Lots of choices per glass a little pricey but take in consideration that the no crap wines only quality! I like this place!

Yelp
A fantastic addition to downtown canton! Intimate, with a cool vibe. We had a fantastic tasting.... chosen by our wonderful bartender Ned. We told him what we liked, and he selected the perfect wines. Such a great experience here. It's been awhile since we've been home, and this place is on our list of definite to-dos. We hope Ned is still pouring!

Yelp
Was in OH for business and went for glass of wine and bite to eat. I should have taken note, reviews over 2 yrs old. Staff was nice. And since had cheese plate, can't rate food. But overheard person who said she was owner, not handling an issue very well. And made some political statements. Made it uncomfortable. Perhaps she wasn't owner. But she definitely was an employee. Inclusiveness is important in Service Industry. So, can't recommend restaurant.

Yelp
Outstanding wines, upscale dining, lovely atmosphere, fantastic live musicians and the most personable owner who makes you feel right at home and she knows wines more than any sommelier I have ever met! You will find this place clean, quaint, charming and fun! This place brings a whole new standard to wine bars.

Yelp
Went on a a early Saturday evening in April with a friend and sat at the bar. 1st time here and I loved the vibe, decor and the the fact that all the art work displayed was for sale too. I love that they have flights of wine to sample at a reasonable price and they have a full bar and a pretty good craft beer selection. The food was the big letdown for me. I ordered the slider flight($15) burger and BBQ chicken served on sourdough buns and cuban served as a tiny wrap. The buns were a poor choice for the bread. they were very tall and kind of dry and hard so when I went to try to fit it in my mouth the chicken shot out of the bun on to the bar!(5 sec rule applied)I think the chicken would have been better shredded but it was just a big chunk of breastmeat. My friend had ordered the Caprese BLT that was supposed to be on a brioche bun, which sounded amazing and I see they have since changed this on the menu, but came out as 2 sliders on the same sourdough buns. I would have said something if it was me. The servers were very attentive and the owner came around and chatted several times but not once did she ask me about the food. I would go back for a drink or 2 but I'll make sure I eat first
