"With an all-day breakfast menu, Grapevine is arguably the best breakfast and lunch spot on the island. Find standout lemon blueberry goat cheese pancakes topped with lemon zest and whipped cream, breakfast platters, agua frescas, and coffee roasted in-house. Need something on the run? Stop in for the tacos Tejanos. In both regular and supersize, these come packed with scrambled eggs, with the choice of adding a plethora of meats, including beef fajita and chorizo, and veggies." - Lane Gillespie, Brittany Britto Garley

The atmosphere was great, prompt service, friendly staff. Everyone was in good spirits and smiling. Food prices are on point. Egg just needed a little bit of salt “it’s rare I put any when served”. The pancakes were REALLY good and their coffee and frappes are good as well.

Google
I got a breakfast taco that could feed two people! My friend loved her pancakes. They have filtered water for everything, so that’s super awesome! Very, very pricey! Brewed iced tea selections and smoothies too. Bill could easily rack up to $20-30 per person, with tea.

Google
Excellent food, great portions, fabulous service and wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend to ask for French press coffee and you can share with someone else because it fills around 4 mugs and is delicious!! Please order Huevos Rancheros Vallartas and Eggs Benedict Grapevine, both are incredible. Lemon blueberry pancakes are also delicious. We passed such a great breakfast here and we'll be back for sure 👍🏼 👍🏼 10/10

Google
I wasn’t fan of the chilaquiles, in my opinion were a little dry and I barely found the chicken in there. We also had the apple pancakes, mimosas and coffee were pretty tasty. Service was a little slow. But I’ll like to come back to try more menu items.

Jared Doran

Google
This joint is legit!! The pork belly Benedict was out of this world!!! Service was pretty good. Their salsa Vietnamese coffee was some of the best I’ve ever had. The breakfast tacos were lights out!!!

Casey Reho

Google
Great place for hearty breakfast! I got the cheesy shrimp and grits and it was so good and so much food! My husband got the hashbrowns and eggs and it had the perfect amount of veggies inside. They have a great selection of coffees and you can’t go wrong with the latte! Please do yourself a favor and visit here. The parking is limited but we rode the golf cart over so it wasn’t hard to find a spot for us.

Hubby had pork belly Benedict and I (the vegan) had the avocado toast without the egg. The bread was either not toasted or very lightly toasted but that was fine. I would suggest asking for a second piece of bread in place of the egg so you can eat it like a sandwich but not sure if they will accommodate that request. The veggies were very fresh. I also had a fruit smoothie which was very delicious. They charge a small extra fee to use a credit card but also offer a 10% discount if you save your receipt and come back again. Hopefully we can fit in another visit while we are here!

Google
Gluten free blueberry lemon zest pancakes!!!!! Gluten free bananas foster pancakes! Omelette with chorizo.... I am getting hungry again just thinking about this place. Crispy bacon, fresh coffee, and truly exceptional staff. We had 3 or 4 meals here during our vacation and honestly - we picked this place over resort food, room service, and home-cooking. 10 out of 10.

Yelp
The Grapevine is always a must when we're at South Padre. This is the place where you want to start your morning and pick up a great cup of coffee both hot and chilled. The coffee always stayed full and warm and not once did we have to flag down staff since they were always attentive and on point. This is a great location for coffee, drinks and brunch. It's always a treat to stop by and hang out for a while.

Yelp
was very busy so service was t amazing but the food and refresher drinks were phenomenal

Tate N.

Yelp
Another winner in South Padre! Grapevine Cafe was very busy when we went and we were told there would be a 30 minute wait and the actual wait was 18 minutes. Our server came promptly and after ordering, drinks came quickly (green tea, strawberry and chocolate milk and a fancy coffee) Our food did take probably 20 minutes but it was SO GOOD. The kids pancakes were made into very cute animals and the fruit was fresh and delicious. Our kids let us know this was the best food they had eaten on our trip to South Padre. My wife and I had two different kinds of Benedicts and it was totally worth the wait. The restaurant was packed but not very noisy. Only 2 bathrooms (1 per) had a slight line but it was clear they were regularly cleaned. Overall, it was great and I agree with our kids: best place we have eaten on our trip to South Padre!

Era Kay H.

Yelp
This cute resturant came highly recommended and it did Not Disappoint! From the inviting atmosphere to the irresistible menu items and the welcoming staff this place lived up to the hype! We enjoyed our breakfast and wished we had room for so MANY other things on the menu! I love that they offer so many GF options! We will definitely have to enjoy this place when we are on the island again! PS David (we think he was the manager) was super friendly too!

Paige K.

Yelp
Honestly I was a little disappointed with our food here. Not bad by any means but with the other reviews, I expected more. The wait was over an hour but I liked that you could join the waitlist online. Our server was super friendly and our food came out fairly quickly. I got the skinny omelette and a short stack of the lemon blueberry pancakes. My omelette was decent, as described. The potatoes were pretty good. The pancakes were the let down. There was no lemon to be found and hardly any blueberries. They weren't "goat cheese pancakes" like described, they were a generic pancake mix with random chunks of goat cheese. Wasn't impressed and def wouldn't get again but luckily they were affordable for the portion. Overall, good service, decent omelette but def overhyped.

Yelp
This was the second breakfast joint we chose on our recent stay on SPI. It was highly rated on Yelp and the ratings weren't far off. I chose their biscuits and sausage gravy breakfast plus added two eggs and two strips of bacon. The biscuits were light and fluffy. The cream gravy was a bit sparse and the sausage didn't appear to be cooked IN the gravy but dumped atop the biscuits and then the gravy was poured on top of that. It was a bit weird presentation wise but the taste was good so I enjoyed them. The over-easy eggs were fried a bit fast or with too much heat and had lacy edges which I don't care for but I'm used to that so they were ok. The bacon was just ok. No one here in the RGV makes really good bacon. Or hash browns apparently. But they do other things well so.......... The wife ate most of a short stack with some amazing Bourbon Pecan Praline Sauce that she said was really, really good. Their coffee is really good and our waitress kept my cup full. I'd definitely choose to come back when on SPI.

Yelp
This place was packed. Had to wait 45 minutes for a table for two. I ordered the huevos rancheros Vallarta. This is a big plate and delicious plate. Eggs were cooked to order over medium. My daughter had the French toast. It was too cinnamony and a little too doughy. The staff was wonderful and very friendly. Place felt comfortable. We got a table by the window. There was a table outside our window which made it weird looking outside. Overall great place to eat. Will come back.

Anandi S.

Yelp
Went for lunch and unfortunately 4 out of 4 items ordered were below par. Pancakes undercooked, cheese enchilada plate tasted like microwaved frozen box. Asked for potatoes instead of hash browns for sandwich and got the opposite and it was near burnt.

Amy D.

Yelp
Their brunch plates are served in the typical large Texas sized food portions. Great coffee. It's typically busy during the weekends and holidays with folks wanting breakfast brunch. Yet, we didn't wait too long to get seated and served. We saw some folks who came in simply for coffee, being that there is no chain coffee spots on the island. This establishment is located in the Main Street with no beach or bay views.

Erika P.

Yelp
We joined the waitlist about 45min prior to being seated, line was out the door. We were seated and ordered drinks: hot chocolate, strawberry banana smoothie, cucumber lime refresher and coffee (duh)! everything was great but the cucumber lime refresher was CHEFS KISS We ordered way too much but everything was so good. The cinnamon roll french toast 9/10, bacon avocado burger 8/10 (a little bit dry but great & the fries are BOMB), chicken n waffles 7/10 (dish could be elevated with fried chicken), biscuits & gravy 8/10, chapo burger 7.5/10 (a little too much going on for us specifically), kids French toast 5/10 (little guy did not like the bread hehe) Overall everything was so good and we left with a full belly. We went to Josephine's the last time we were here and this was 10x better. Worth the wait

Mariann L.

Yelp
Miss V was a fantastic server and every thing was absolutely delicious from the cucumber lime refreshing drink to the Vietnamese coffee everything was spot on

Nicole D.

Yelp
Wonderful brunch spot on South Padre! My husband got the avocado toast and I got the banana bread French toast - they were amazing. He got a great smoothie and I had a Mango tea to drink and couldn't have been happier. They had some great drink options in addition to their coffee bar. Will absolutely go back again when we are back!

Alec B.

Yelp
Solid brunch spot. Great refresher drinks and great French toast. How can you go wrong adding chocolate and fruit.

Ellie N.

Yelp
Must-have: Egg Benedict grapevine with fruit cup: AMAZING. everything is just perfect. The gluten free English muffin is great and taste even better than the regular English muffin. Capuchino is good. They roast their own coffee in house. The server didn't ask for the size and brought us the large 20oz huge mug. AVOID: Huevos rancheros benedictos: it's not edible. Don't bother ordering this. The meat on top is not chewable. The sauce is bad. This is a 1 star dish.

Henry D.

Yelp
Heard a lot of great things about this place from the locals. Conveniently used Yelp to join waiting list prior to arriving and Yelp updated my position in the queue. Upon arrival host greeted us immediately and seated us right away. Rosalia our waitress immediately took our drink orders and was very attentive throughout. The place looked very trendy and had a coffee bar. Coffee beans ground in house. My black coffee tasted fresh and smooth. I ordered the two egg breakfast with sausage patty's. Unfortunately the patty's were more on the cold warm side but edible. The rest of my food was very good and my dates plate was also delicious. Aside from the patty's I was pleased with this place. Ambiance was hip and had the island vibes.

Georginne L.

Yelp
Love the Lemon Blueberry Pancakes* ** it was light and fluffy. Love that I can taste the lemon. Shared with my husband the Eggs Benedict Grapevine. Love my americano. Vietnamese coffee is sweet for my taste. In addition, the service is efficient and quick!

Tracy M.

Yelp
What a great little gem nestled in South Padre Island! It's a bustling little place we've hit 3x during our trip. Twice for coffee, and once for lunch. Chips & salsa were delicious with our Aguas Frescas. Then I enjoyed a 1/2 club sandwich & husb ordered fajitas. Great food, excellent service. Our server was helpful with suggestions & very attentive. Check in ahead on YELP waiting list for sit down bfast or lunch! It's a popular spot!

Thegotoguy T.

Yelp
Great breakfast gem. If you like coffee this is your stop. They have a bean roaster right inside the restaurant and roast their beans twice a week. Coffee is very good. Staff are excellent and very nice. Food and smoothies are delicious as well. We eat breakfast here every day we are on SPI.

John W.

Yelp
Me and my friends went here around 11 AM on a Saturday (Memorial Day weekend). There was an hour wait - so make a reservation if you go on a holiday weekend!! The ambiance was nice at the grapevine - there were nice decorations and it felt kinda like industrial beach. I liked it! The service was really good here. Our server Jeremy was nice and really helpful. The bussers were hovering over us the whole time for our plates. The food here was pretty good but not exceptional. I got the sausage and gravy and it was yummy. Not standout but definitely good enough for a meal Overall, we had a good experience here! I'd definitely come back

Shashikala P.

Yelp
Had a lovely breakfast this morning!! Decided to go to GC for breakfast and it's a solid 5start place, in short quality food with friendly people and not too expensive with good quantity too, it checks off all the check marks:)) We ordered chicken and waffles, chilaquiles, migas, macchiato latte and coffee. Kiddo absolutely loved his chicken and waffles, it's huge. Chailaquiles and migas were good, so was the warm tortilla that came with it. Hubby loved drip, and I asked my latte to be 8oz instead of 16oz with 2shots of espresso, which was so so good. Service was great, place is pretty clean. Overall definitely give it a try when you're in SP!!

Kendra L.

Yelp
Grapevine Cafe & Coffeehouse was my family's absolute favorite food on the island! The coffee is roasted in house, the atmosphere was amazing and the food is fantastic! Don't miss out on this one, 10/10!!!

Caryn K.

Yelp
I unfortunately just came here for coffee, but the food looked absolutely delicious that everyone around us was eating! The coffee was fantastic as well. I ordered an iced coconut milk latte and my boyfriend opted for the iced caramel latte. The regular was three shots of espresso, pulled perfectly if I might add. The caramel added the perfect amount of sweetness to an already great latte. They roast their own beans and the quality shows. The service speed was great and the interior was clean. I've already made a metal note to stop by the next time I vacation in South Padre!

Stephanie M.

Yelp
Great place for brunch while on the island. It's small and quite a wait but we decided to hang around and give it a shot. Lemon blueberry pancakes were awesome! Soooooo goooood! The wait staff were hustling and very nice.

Jill S.

Yelp
Grapevine Cafe is our go to for an excellent breakfast on the Island. I particularly appreciate their selection of milk alternatives for my coffee. Juevos Rancheros is always my choice, my husband goes for the standard American breakfast. And chips/hot sauce, of course.

Lauryn N.

Yelp
This is an awesome breakfast spot for delicious, but also healthier options. Jesse took amazing care of us and made sure we had a great meal - he was an outstanding waiter. If you are gluten free or dairy free, they have plenty of options. I have several food allergies and I was able to have the French toast! It was delicious. They also have great cappuccino, coffee, tea lattes, and smoothies. We ate here twice because it was so good.

Sadiya A.

Yelp
This is THE brunch spot! Coffee was on point and food was delicious! They have their own house coffee that they freshly brew too! Our waiter was friendly and checked in on us regularly. The place is spacious with bar seating, we were even seated quickly during peak time. The banana fosters pecan pancakes were good but I had to ask for a side of sliced bananas. The bourbon pecan syrup was to die for!!!

Anh N.

Yelp
Get here early especially during peak season! Great breakfast spot! Even in off peak season, there was a short wait when we visited in November! All hot beverages were delish and the service was great!

Allyson M.

Yelp
A must eat when visiting SPI. Amazing food with reasonable prices. It's our #1 place for breakfast on the island. Kids plate is a great deal for our kiddo. My favorite is the migas plate and my husband has to have the breakfast taco. Also the coffee..chefs kiss

Ashley H.

Yelp
The 5 egg breakfast tacos no longer exist... but the 3 egg tacos are also massive. The sensible breakfast sandwich was delicious- croissant, egg, spinach, tomato, and hash browns on the side. Personally, I wouldn't recommend the smoothies as I've had better, but every coffee I've tried has been good. Definitely a SPI staple.

Stacy J.

Yelp
Wow and wow. One trip here and you will be a customer for life. There is always a line but it is 100 percent worth the wait. Breakfast or lunch you can't go wrong here. The eggs Benedict is ahhhhmazing The coffee is ground ok site and by far the best on the island.

Alexis H.

Yelp
NOT a family friendly restaurant. I always put a running timer on when eating out to see if expected wait times are accurate. We waited 20 minutes to get in and seated. And we proceeded to wait 1 hour and 15 min for our food to come out. The food was alright but not worth the wait at all. We say 4 other groups get their food and finish before we even got our food out. They gave us a discount but they also put a gratuity of 18% because they thought we were not going to tip, so they charged us more. (which we did tip but would not have if we knew they put the extra charge on there)

Chels B.

Yelp
Service is extremely slow. Lots of employees and still slow. Food is Good enough to go back 2 times in one week. Was very pleased with all of the gluten free options. First trip was better than the second trip. First trip was for lunch. I had a burger and fries and finished the entire plate. Husband had blueberry lemon gluten feee pancakes and completely smashed it second trip was breakfast. Husband had the chilaquiles and it was too hot to enjoy. I had a the loaded hash browns which were just ok. We will likely be back at least once more to explore more on the menu. I want to love this place so bad.

Mike C.

Yelp
Terrible service. Waited 40 minutes for a club sandwich and almost 30 minutes for a glass of water.

Alfonse S.

Yelp
Probably one of the best breakfast place I've ever eaten at. Such amazing food all around, and the service was amazing. I ordered the chicken and waffle, and my wife got the lobster bisque. My sister got the French toast sucré. The chicken was super crunchy on the outside, and really moist on the inside, and was incredible flavorful. The waffles were also really good. As for the lobster bisque, it had amazing flavor and the potatoes that came with the meal were really good. The same can be said about the French toast, especially with the toppings of strawberry and blueberry, with sprinkles of cinnamon on top. Highly recommend this place for sure. Just make sure to check in on Yelp to get a place in line, since it does get super busy.

Christina G.

Yelp
This restaurant is my top choice for breakfast when I visit SPI. They serve amazing food, and despite the wait for a table, it's definitely worth it.

Jeff G.

Yelp
Consistently great! The coffee drinks are superb and made with their own roasted beans. Their breakfast menu is awesome. They've got all the traditional American stuff however they have many unique Latin dishes. Many of then spins on the old favorites. Try the Huevos Rancheros Benedict. Just excellent! It's a lively place with great atmosphere and superior service. Enjoy!

Kellie J.

Yelp
Good breakfast, I had the banana bread french toast. Way too sweet and I love sweets, I only are 1/2. The smoothie machine is extremely loud, dot sit anywhere near it. Seriously I may have ruined my hearing. Good coffee, my husband had the traditional eggs and bacon and he liked it.

Deborah S.

Yelp
We visited this restaurant while on the island for breakfast. We did get there about two hours before closing. They close at 3 PM.. The food was OK the portions were on the smaller side for the price. I had the omelette, it was basic nothing to brag about. My husband had a classic breakfast with grits. The grits were cold and lumpy that they brought out later because they forgot to bring them with his meal. Lumpy grits are nasty and especially if they are cold! We did order a side of pancakes, which was one pancake. They brought out the pancake before they brought out any of our food, which came, five minutes later, then the pancake was cold, that was just very odd. My husband had coffee and it wasn't very hot. The waitress was nice to make a pot of coffee, which took a while. This. Place had pretty good reviews as a tap RESTURANT to visit but it definitely is on the lower end to eat breakfast.

Albert A.

Yelp
Very busy when we arrived but wait was minimal. We had a large party of 8 and were easily accommodated. Ordered a variety of items, club sandwiches, chilaquiles, chicken with waffles, taco salads. Everyone loved their food. We will definitely be back!

Megan H.

Yelp
Wonderful lattes! The barista makes top notch latte art on request. There is seating at the bar if you would like to drink your coffee at the cafe. They also roast their own coffee beans in small batches.

Tammy W.

Yelp
This place is amazing fast service was so busy we went twice food yummy love it there get the berry berry drink omg it's so good there many more in the menu but that drink I fell in love with big +

Milou T.

Yelp
Wonderful breakfast/brunch place at the Island. I love their coffee, my favorite is the chocolate macadamia latte, I usually order it hot with regular milk, but they do offer almond or soy milk. They have very good service, the waitstaff is attentive to your needs. The restaurant itself has a very islandy feeling to it with coffee bags and crates scattered around the place. I would certainly be back and recommend it.

Doretta W.

Yelp
Recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint. Any breakfast cafe that will serve French press at the table is a winner with me. They roast their own beans ... sell them whole or ground. Great nutty flavor! Grabbed a 16oz of beans for the road. The menu has lots of options for lunch and breakfast ... something for everyone. My son had the hill country refresher ... peach and lavender syrup in green tea. Add the red, white and blue parfait with blueberries and strawberries. He commented on how good they were. I had the early bird breakfast (order by 9am).. add some toast. My eggs were poached medium as requested. Added the toast in for a popeye style egg. The hashbrown were shredded, and the bacon was cooked perfectly. The waitress was helpful and attentive. We never wanted for anything. The restaurant is small .. get there early as by 9.30am there was a long wait list. Use Yelp to add yourself to the wait list. Parking is sparse ... use the empty lot across the street. Also, the prices are reasonable!

Steve W.

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday when it was extremely busy during peak season. So we were able to get a place by using Yelp to hold a place for us online. As a result we beat the crowd. This place was very abuzz and the place was really hopping. There is enough seating within the space of a small convenience store with a few tables outside. The one thing that I did notice that was conspicuously absent was the fact that there was no turbinado sugar. I had the two egg breakfast which was OK and my wife had a benedictus huevos rancheros and she really liked that. We also got an unsweetened nitro cold brew to go. One added benefit is that if you keep your receipt you'll get 10% off your next meal. This place is definitely worth revisiting.

Cora C.

Yelp
The worst customer service I have ever experienced from a restaurant. I will never return and wouldn't recommend this place to a field mouse. I wouldn't know about the food. After all, I left before I could enjoy my meal because I was treated so poorly.

Rick Y.

Yelp
Always our go too when we come to SPI. Especially for breakfast. I ordered a two egg omelette and my wife ordered the eggs Benedict with salmon. The egg omelette (with cheese , onion and ham) was tasty and fresh. It came with some hash potatoes but was just okay. My wife's meal was really good . Great flavor from the eggs and fish. We did have to wait about 15 min and sit at the bar. Original host estimate was 30 min. This was on a Friday morning. This place is popular and wait times are usually closer to 60 min. Recommend you to order online for pick up orders. They generally are efficient. If you do the later, ask for your drinks! Several times it was not on the ticket stapled to the bag. All the food was there but no one checked the drinks. -Rick

Sydney N.

Yelp
We came here for brunch and it was definitely poppin on a Saturday, had to wait abt 15-20 mins for a table, once we sat down we got a cappuccino and a smoothie! Both were amazing and had a very nice waitress (: my boyfriend got the loaded hashbrowns and eggs , it came in a cute skillet! I got the heuvos rancheros Benedictos and it was so insane!! I mean just look at that picture. A barbacoa chorizo patty on my Benedict ? Umm yes pls ! Also the hashbrowns.. It was so good definitely recommend

Azsure D.

Yelp
They roast their own coffee and espresso beans. They don't sell coffee by the bag (maybe 'yet' belongs here), but fresh coffee is a great option in the island. Plus, the barista knew how the espresso beans were roasted. Impressive! Espresso is served in paper cups - looking forward to the eventual future iterations of this business- great job here!! (Note- this review comes from the household of a professional coffee roaster.)

Kyle D.

Yelp
Pretty good food. But the juices and tea mixesare ammmazing! I tried two while eating and would have ordered more to go, but only one drink station worker making all the coffees and juices. It took quite a while for drinks. Food was quick and correct requests.

Marilyn O.

Yelp
As someone wanting to eat healthy and having to eat gluten-free and dairy-free I'm often left dissatisfied but this Cafe is amazing! Not only do I have many delicious options but my three friends without restrictions found this to be done if the best food on the island! Staff have been amazing, prices reasonable and presentation beautiful! Favorite drink - oatmilk latte with a lavender shot! Amazing. Going again tomorrow.
