Grappa - Review - Main Street - Park City - The Infatuation

"Walking into Grappa feels like entering a romantic Italian farmhouse. Every table on the three-level dining space feels private, and the outdoor patio is peaceful, surrounded by flowers and fountains. The menu features traditional Italian dishes, including eggplant parmesan, gnocchi primavera with wild mushrooms, whole-roasted game hen, and the restaurant’s signature osso bucco. Don’t miss the grapes and gorgonzola, a salad that has been on the menu since the restaurant opened in 1992—that sounds pretty retro, but it’s there because it’s still good. Grappa is open only for dinner, and you should make reservations a few weeks in advance during peak winter season." - Jené Shaw

"Situated at the top of the hill on Park City 's iconic Main Street, the Italian restaurant Grappa occupiesa beautiful 100-plus-year-old renovated building that over the years has been a brothel, bar, and bed-and-breakfast. The name comes from the Italian brandy distilled from the leftover grape skins, stems, and seeds from the winemaking process. And, of course, Grappaserves it! Founder and owner Bill White blends French culinary influences with regional Italian dishes to bring bold and delicious flavors to his customers. When the weather is appropriate, there are five levels of patios, complete with plants and water features for alfresco dining."

We saw this restaurant as we were walking through town yesterday and noticed it was full. We came back when they opened today at 5 pm and were treated to a wonderful dining experience. David really went out of his way to make us feel at home. We split a salad, an entree and a pasta and it was just the right amount for us after a long hike today. The salad, the lamb chops and the vegetables in the pasta were all exceptionally fresh and tasty. I would definitely return for another meal at this beautiful restaurant.

Had a fantastic meal here! The menu had tons of options, and it was really hard to decide what to order. The restaurant is also super cut, and the multi level stories with balconies was a nice atmosphere. We ordered the crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer that was delicious, could have eaten a lot more of them. The duck risotto was plentiful. The duck was fall apart tender, and the risotto was so rich and creamy. We got the pavlova for dessert which was a great was to top off an excellent meal.

The restaurant and food in park city is amazing, but Grappa is a stop not to be missed. The chef has been here for 35 years and the food shows his love for his creations. The mushroom soup has been an original menu item and was so delicious I could have eaten a tub of it. Every single dish was incredible and the service was excellent. Monika was such a knowledgeable and attentive server who made our experience a night to remember.

Google
During a work trip, myself and a group of four of my coworkers dined at Grappa on our last evening. We had heard wonderful reviews from locals, and it did not disappoint! The ambiance was beautiful (we sat on the patio on the highest level up the hill) and the food was phenomenal. Everything we tried was delicious. We will certainly return if we are ever back in Park City!

Google
The food was mediocre. My entree was not good and came with inedible, rubbery calamari. Thought dessert might save the night, but was really wrong about that. The tiramisu was the.worst! I would be embarrassed to serve a glass full of whatever that concoction was to anyone. It was not fresh or flavorful, It was in a glass that made it hard to share, not sure what the weird balls on top were supposed to be. It was basically a cup full of stale cream, Yuck! Tiramisu should be a beautiful classic dessert and done well at an “Italian” restaurant but it was not. Overall a very expensive and disappointing dinner. I won’t return or recommend.

Google
Upscale atmosphere, great service, good food, sky-high prices. While some of the dishes looked a bit small, the Spaghetti w Meatballs was huge. If you're hungry - that's your dish. The seared scallops were delicious but the portion size of the dish was tiny. Prices are high for food but border outrageous for cocktails and wine. At least for us, definitely a "special occasion" place rather than a regular dinner-spot

Google
Sadly disappointed with our experience at Grappa. We were really looking forward to the high quality food and service. We were prepared for the prices hoping for tasteful & visually appealing meals but honestly it was nothing special. Our server seemed distracted and one of the meals we ordered was atrocious (the salmon), maybe we just got a bad one. We returned it and got the veal, it was good. The eggplant was cooked well and delicious but I had better at half the price. Not worth the money, sorry. The place is pretty though.

Google
Mediocre food, poor service, overpriced. We were seated 25 minutes after our reservation time. Another 20+ minutes before our server arrived to take our drinks order. Drinks then arrived promptly, but food took a long time to get served. Waiter was friendly, apologetic, and brought a complimentary dessert which was the best part of the meal. Overall a subpar experience. Would not return nor recommend.

Yelp
We had a great meal at Grappa. Everything was delicious, but our favorites included mushroom soup, artichoke flatbread, osso bucco, and arabiatta pasta. Our server, Leslie, was exceptional--attentive, personable, and funny!

Corey R.

Yelp
Leslie was amazing. The food was terrific. I'd definitely recommend it. The rustic setting was very comfortable.

Brent H.

Yelp
Had an absolutely brilliant meal in the globe, but our service, led by Leslie, was incredible. Recommend without reservation.

Yelp
Lovely Northern Italian destination dining with a warm inviting atmosphere at the top of Main St in Park City. Fantastic service and my friend and I went with the waiter's suggestion, Calamari app to start and Eggplant Parm for the main course. Both were outstanding. Take a look at the photo and you can see that beyond the great flavors, presentation was beautiful as well. Recommended.

Yelp
Great cozy ambiance and lovely service from our waitress! Food was decent, but not the best Italian. But still pretty good! Ambiance is super cozy and cute, very warm, inviting and family-friendly. We got a large booth, as we had a large party, and it was perfect! Lovely place, would go back!

Meeson S.

Yelp
Leslie was SO amazing and made my birthday so special! The food was excellent as always.

Yelp
Happy we were able to book a last minute reservation Saturday night! Food was delicious and our server was wonderful! According to the bill, I believe his name was Chandler! We ordered a glass of the duckhorn Cab, a Rosso toscana, fondue, Fettucine al Funghi, scallops risotto, and tiramisu. There were a lot of items we wanted to try on the menu, but definitely had to stop ourselves to not over order. Would want to try their mushroom soup next time!! They start you off with complementary bread that comes with a little dish of sauce that was so yummy! Didn't think we would use it all or eat all the bread, but oops.. LOL We ordered the fondue to start, which was sooo bomb when it first came out! It came with bread pieces, pickles, sausages, broccolini, and green apples, which all paired perfectly well with the melted cheese. Definitely recommend eating this as fast as you can, because the cheese will cool fairly quickly and hard cheese is not as pleasant to enjoy. The scallop risotto was delicious! The scallops were so soft and juicy and you get quite a bit of risotto with the dish so it's definitely filling. I had to take mine to go! The fettuccine al funghi was also delicious and the different textured mushrooms added a nice touch to the dish! Tiramisu was yummy, but I personally would have preferred a little more cake/lady fingers vs cream ratio, but the flavor was there and it was still yummy! The inside has a cozy feel and it's super pretty looking outside the "snow globe" feel of the second floor. Would want to return to check out other menu items and hopefully get a seat by the window! Shout out to our server Chandler for making this a great experience as well. He gave so many recommendations and the way he spoke about the food, you could tell he genuinely enjoyed everything he recommended!

Yelp
Food was good. I am not sure the price was worth it though. Also service was a bit on the slow side. My party ordered a bottle of wine , two Negronis, and I ordered the dirty bleu martini. The bottle of wine came out quick with the two Negronis shortly after, but the dirty martini took so long. I'd say about 20 minutes and we were all waiting to toast. Ended up just toasting with a glass of wine. We ordered the grilled olives, snow crab stuffed mushrooms, and calamari to start. If I had to choose between the 3, I'd say calamari was the best, but you can't really mess that up right? For entrees, we had the lobster fregola, scallops risotto, spaghetti arrabiata, and the grilled lamb chops. The lamb chops specifically being my entree - it was good, but not what I had expected. More on the sweeter/saucier side of things. I like my lamb chops grilled and a little crispy on the outside. That's not how these lamp chops are. Now the desserts on the other hand were AMAZING. We had the pistachio affogato and the chocolate hazelnut tartufo. That was my favorite part of dinner. Everything else was okay, but again I don't think the price was worth it. The entire party agreed.

Yelp
Very tasty Italian food! Our waiter was friendly and knowledge on the menu, even able to answer where the meat was sourced. With three flights of stairs, this restaurant has a homie feel. They were also very responsive about our reservation. We had a great time with a party of 6 here!

Yelp
Service and food were amazing! We dined outside in the Alpen globe and the atmosphere was magical. Ask for Leslie, she was personable and made great recommendations. Can't miss dining here!

Yelp
An excellent restaurant, its food is delicious every time, it is worth it in every way. And our server Leslie P really help the experience she was great!!!

Yelp
The service was great, attentive, responsive and offered good suggestions. The food was good, the homemade meatballs are phenomenal along with a great wine list. The Halibut had great flavor, just slightly overcooked, but still good enough to box the leftovers up to take home. And the ambiance was very good having dinner on the top floor. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
Wonderful Italian restaurant at the top of Main Street. The building is over 100 years old and adds charm to the atmosphere. The restaurant is 32 years old and still maintains its quality and service. I started with the espresso martini which has chocolate shavings on top. We ordered the grape and gorgonzola salad. Nice presentation and good balance of the sweet grapes and gorgonzola. We shared the Osso bucco as it was a large portion. Perfectly cooked. Meat fell off the bone and nicely spiced. Delicious! We were so full but wanted to try their dessert so we ordered a tiramisu to go. We were so glad we did. Creative and tasty! Restaurant was packed so I would recommend to make a reservation.

Yelp
In town for my wife's birthday. We went to Grappa on a Friday night. Very friendly staff and good ambience. Now the real problem comes when you have to start eating the food. I have never been to a worse Italian restaurant in my life. 3.7 rating is wayyyy too high. Calamari was extremely chewy and i ate one piece and that was it. My dog probably would have done the same. I don't even know what to say about the bruschetta. But it was also terrible. I didn't want to spend 60 dollars on another horrible dish so I got the Cesar salad for dinner and what do ya know. Another horrible dish. But at least it was only a 17 dollars Cesar. I also asked for chicken on it and they said we only have stuffed chicken. All in all, This place needs to go or get a new menu and chef. Avoid this place unless you just love over paying for terrible food.

Rick D.

Yelp
Leslie was great. She was a lot of fun. The food was great. The atmosphere was wonderful. It was a wonderful evening.

Roger K.

Yelp
Great food. Great atmosphere. Leslie was fabulous. Her playful sense of humor enhanced our overall experience.

Yelp
Second Bill White place in a week (other was Chimayo and it squeaked out a 4 star thanks to Elk dish and service). Grappa probably would have weighed in with 4 stars but for the service. The waitress was seldom seen and was comfortable acknowledging it but not correcting it. The Brussels were good and shared by the table. The salmon, one of their signatures, was chef recommended as done medium and that was a bad recommendation. My wife did not finish it. The Osso bucco, the other mainstay, was a solid offering.

Yelp
Review for drinks and apps: Excellent time at Grappa! The outdoor area is multiple levels and really nice. The service is outstanding. Highly recommend the tuna crudo. Flatbread also was great.

Yelp
We never managed to eat at Grappa until last week. What a great place to dine. First the service - it was phenomenal. Our waiter was attentive without hovering, knew the menu cold and had great commentary on all of the items that we had questions on. He also had a wonderful personality. Most of us had their beet and arugula salad which included shaved fennel and chèvre. Beautifully plated with great flavor. One of our party had the heirloom tomato bruschetta and loved it. The main courses included branzino, gnocchi primavera and bolognese bianca. Again, all of the mains were fantastic. Great flavor and just the right portion sizes. The wine list was expansive and we went with a Chianti Classico that matched the meal perfectly. Highly recommend Grappa.
google avatar

Nicole O.

Yelp
$38 for a vegetable penne with bland "vodka sauce", no protein and $18 for air friend brussel sprouts. Paid $75 for these two items. Despicable. Also, if you want guests to order before 9pm it would be advantageous of you to not allow for 8:45pm reservation time. So disappointed by this place.
google avatar

Jeff K.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service was very good. My only gripes were that the chairs were uncomfortable and the air conditioning blew too cold over us, but we asked to be moved. Pricey.
google avatar

Lori L.

Yelp
Recommend for a good dinner. The price was more for the setting and Ambiance rather than food. Food was good but not better than other Italian restaurants, such as Stoneground Italian Kitchen

Ken M.

Yelp
Wow what a great dining experience! It's a must if you're in park city. Great comfy Italian food, great ambiance and the service was some of the best we've ever had - thank you Leslie, you're a blast! Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Fantastic food and service by Harper. We had the following dishes: Calamari Mushroom soup Osso bucco Bolognese tagatelle Pavlova We've eaten our way through Park City, and hands down this is one of my favs.

Yelp
This place is Amazing!!! I was really shocked at how good it was. I was expecting your typical Italian and it's way over that. The atmosphere is great we checked in. They were great. The temperature of the building was awesome. Everything was perfect. Great music.! And our server Leslie P was out of this world. It was worth every penny we paid. It was great. I highly recommend it and thanks again Leslie you made it a great experience.

Yelp
Never been to Salt Lake City or park city and went here... it is amazing! Grappas bolognese was impeccable and the it was the best Pinot noir I've ever drank. I'm now going to check out some more Oregonian vinos!

Yelp
Incredible setting and ambiance on the patio for dinner! Food and espresso martinis were incredible and Teresa was our amazing server tonight.
google avatar

Kimberlee P.

Yelp
Highly recommend this restaurant! Such delicious food! The vibe is as amazing too, such a cute place with amazing views. They start you off with the most amazing rosemary bread and balsamic aioli dip that was to die for. The appetizers were good as well but nothing compared to the entrees, they were so delicious we will definitely be coming back. The top favorites at our table were the Spaghetti Arrabiata (add it replace with Alfredo sauce) and Eggplant Parmesan. Our waiters were are very attentive and pleasant.

Yelp
Went to Grappa for a large business dinner and it was a treat! We sat at the upper deck and it was beautiful with all the trees, greenery and lights. The staff was on top of it. So attentive to take our drink orders as everyone was moving around. Really attentive and friendly all the way around. The food was amazing. I tried the scallops and they turned out great. Some people had the steak but the scallops were a bit of a stand out between the two.

Yelp
I recently dined at Grappa and it was my third time at the restaurant. I had heard mixed reviews about the restaurant each time and I was unsure about going back. The atmosphere was the only reason this restaurant gets two stars. The setting and view is phenomenal. I will get right to the point on the bad review. This is most mediocre "upscale/nice" restaurant of all time. We got the bruschetta for an appetizer (35 minute wait) and it was average. We ordered the Oso Bucco and Striped Sea Bass and both were so mediocre it hurt. We paid $125 between just the two entrees to have a flavor mix and ingredient mix that I could have made while drunk off wine. I think the staff is ok, the wait time for food and drinks to arrive is bad, and the food is worse. Also - Don't order a cocktail. You'll get a 1 oz liquid poured into what is a glorified shot glass full to the brim with ice. If you think I'm joking, go there and order an old fashioned. Good luck trying to take more than 3 small sips out of that. This place is a pass 10/10 times, spend your time at a sushi restaurant or other spot on Main Street

Yelp
Came in on a Saturday night in April and thankfully were seated without a reservation in about 20 minutes. Tasty Italian food with nice staff in a cute building, just not sure it's worth the prices.
google avatar

Ellena K.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing experience. Sit outside if you can. Very authentic Italian. Service was amazing! Our server was charming and had great recommendations. Must try the calamari
google avatar

Joshua C.

Yelp
The food was pretty good. Overpriced for what you get but what can you expect from Main Street in park city. The service as great and the servers all knew the menu well. The best part has to be the ambience. It is a cute historic building with views down Main Street. Sit upstairs if you can.

Yelp
The food here is elegant and truly delicious. The staff here is always mature and very friendly. Love the atmosphere and never had anything here that didn't taste good. 10/10

Yelp
LOVED our visit to Grappa! We did not have reservations, but were seated right away at a lovely table by the window. Our server, Sean, was quite attentive initially, and gave us all the information we needed to know about Grappa and their most famous dishes. I ordered the salmon and my husband had the osso bucco, and both were outstanding, though quite pricey. Our friends started with the Mushroom Soup, but reported that it was a tad on the heavy cream side. As the place got busy, Sean did his best to take care of us all, but I sensed that more wait staff was needed. We finished the evening with a Honey Grappa (Sean gave us a tutorial on the making of this drink) and found it to be quite unique and fun! Our trip back to the bus stop was all downhill, and we were back at Park Mountain in no time, feeling full and jolly.

Yelp
Not easily accessible for people with disabilities. I found the food so-so had the eggplant dish and it did not seem fully cooked very hard my mother had the same complaint of the dish. The appetizer was good. Ambiance was nice.
google avatar

Sidney S.

Yelp
While walking in and around the restaurant, you can't help but appreciate how beautiful the place is. However, the beauty of the place is not what I was here for. The rosemary bread and creamy balsamic was different but I really enjoyed it. For being an Italian restaurant, I'm surprised they didn't have a bigger pasta menu. To share we had a Caesar salad which was really good regardless of the creepy anchovy's on the side of the plate. For dinner we all shared the Eggplant Parmesan which was kind of tasteless. The lamb chops were more well done than medium. Next we had the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, the meat balls were tasty and had a nice spice to them. The pasta itself tasted like chef boyardee canned noodles which was very disappointing considering the place is $30. The star of the night was the Pistachio Affogato. Pistachio ice cream with espresso poured on it. This was amazing. I couldn't get enough of it. Dessert made up for the lack of taste in the food.
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
Made reservations a week ahead of time. Staff is rude. Sat for 20 minutes to be seated. Will not come back.
google avatar

Christine K.

Yelp
This restaurant was closed last year due to a kitchen fire. We were delighted to see the renovation, atmosphere, quality of the food and service has remained the same. Our waiter Steve was friendly and made some excellent recommendations. We started with the bruschetta which was delicious. I had the eggplant which is my go to. For dessert we shared the tiramisu. I hope to be back to Grappa again soon!
google avatar

Alicia V.

Yelp
Our waiter Doug was super helpful and the food was super delicious (it slayed). I came here 2 years ago and the food was just as good. I will be back for the nice music and beautiful atmosphere.
google avatar

Jason M.

Yelp
The service was wonderful, especially considering we didn't have a reservation. We felt lucky to be able to get in and seated so quickly. The server was knowledgeable about wine and made nice recommendations. Can't wait to go back one day.
google avatar

Tristan B.

Yelp
Great place!! Love the food and ambience. It's also pretty cool to know that the place was a brothel early in the 1900s. It adds to the authenticity of the old world charm.

Eddy G.

Yelp
The ambience was nice but the tables were very densely packed. We sat in a high traffic area so we're constantly knocked by passers by. Service was attentive but gave the sense that they wanted to push us through and out. Food was ok. Mushroom soup was very good but Eggplant Parmesan was average. Adult beverage choices were good.
google avatar

Bob D.

Yelp
Having ate here in the past we were disappointed with yesterdays meal. In particular the very pricy entrees and small portions. My pasta dish was the size of an appetizer. I'm used to high prices, being from NY but the not such small portions. Doug our server was great and the tiramisu was excellent. We will look elsewhere for Italian food.
google avatar

Morgan L.

Yelp
Came on vacation and had a great time here! The food was amazing and it was reasonably priced compared to some of the other options in town. The service was very good as well! Only complaint was that the upstairs inside was hot (we went in July)

Stacey M.

Yelp
Staff was amazing we had the most amazing meal. We had the lamb chop medium rare and it was a tad more well done than we like. They remade the dish with no issue and even insisted we take a complimentary desert. They went above and beyond. It was the best eggplant Parmesan on the planet.
google avatar

Kevin O.

Yelp
I guess the best thing to say is that the building is a beautifully restored home and that has a great ambiance. That, and it is all downhill from the restaurant along Main Street, literally. So no walking uphill! The service was average. Nothing spectacular. The food was blah. Nobody in our party was overly joyed. The saving grace was the desserts, they were decadently delicious! In the end, we felt like the restaurant was average at best and certainly was overpriced for the quality of food.
google avatar

Adrian P.

Yelp
Food was mediocre no doubt but service hands down really bad. Ordered a bottle of wine that was $220 received and $800 dollar bottle after waiting 1.5 hours for food. No reconciliation and not I'm sorry, just here is the bill. Locals mentioned Brass Tag would have been the better option Keep walking avoid this place.

Austin M.

Yelp
Ambiance was great! Really cool location and atmosphere. The service was very friendly but on the slow side. I personally was not impressed by the food, and neither were the other three members in our party. We all 4 got pasta dishes (I got the spaghetti and my wife the pasta in vodka sauce) and did not feel like they were worth the $40 price. I've had better pasta for much less at other restaurants. I don't think I would go back.
