Gravity Payments Courts Seattle Restaurants with Cheaper Online Ordering System | Eater Seattle

"Now trying to offer a better option for restaurants, Gravity Payments—whose founder Dan Price made headlines for instituting a $70,000 minimum salary—has pivoted from point-of-sale card processing to helping restaurants build online takeout menus and ordering systems; the company will set up basic ordering for free, integrates with GloriaFood, can add online credit-card payments for $30/month with no commission, completes setups in one to two days, and emphasizes a personal, local touch while acknowledging it currently does not provide delivery." - Gabe Guarente

For the past eight months, Gravity has been overcharging my business, per their own monthly statements. The statements show the multiple processing fees, and the sum of them, each month. This total does NOT match what our bank account has been charged. The discrepancy is now on the order of $250 overcharged, give or take. To resolve this through a mediator (REQUIRED per the account agreement) costs a minimum of $950. I would lose hundreds more, and still have the potential of the mediator siding with Gravity over my small company. Nothing I can do about it, aside from steer other businesses away from them.

We used gravity payments for a few years and had no complaints. Square had been charging us 5% per credit card transaction and Gravity brought that down to a happy 2.6% plus 10 cents. Then Gravity decided to piss us off. As of June 2nd they are fired. Reason: A customer apparently pushed some wrong buttons and accidentally charged herself about $6500. I reported this to Gravity. Gravity promptly returned the customer's money but refused to refund the 2.6% transaction fee, due to policy, which was over $200. Unacceptable. I told them I was going to leave and they held the line. It boggles the mind why Gravity no longer wants our money. We have decent customer flow. Changing point of sale companies was easy. Our new provider beat gravity's rate by a little bit and we should recover the $200 loss in about a year. At least they didn't give me any trouble leaving. Recommended other business owners compare other rates / policies before choosing Gravity.

Terrible customer service. Pretty sure they have the HIGHEST rates that a processor can charge. Before we signed up, they said that they would match or beat our current rates. They shortly were double what we were paying. We were forced to use their services due to the software system we used. After cancelling we still got billed for an extra month!

Tried to sign up. The person helping was all over emails when we started, then, after discovering we do less than $15k/mo, responses took a week or longer. I was told I need to change my website to include their terms and conditions, none of which applied to my site (lots of wording about comments and posts when my website is NOT interactive). I was finally told my best selling membership for the past 17 years is a high risk and I need to get rid of it, and 2/3 of my income, because it’s too high risk.

Found out about Gravity Payments when the owner was on a news program and he told the truth about business and labor to an expert corporate media stooge and blew his mind! Made me realize I had one of the worst banks of all time handling my card processing. So I called Gravity and they put me through a qualifying call, got me all the proper documentation and followed up on me til I finally got it all done and back to them. Kristy and Meghan were polite and persistent. And honest. They said they could save me at least $200 per month. The first month they saved me about $350. Can you imagine giving $350 every month for 7 years to an evil bank? Anywho...this company is the real deal. Sign up with them. Even a simple nimrod like myself can figure out the app. No computer programming degree required. They even have helpful customer service after hours with a live human being by phone...in America. Go figure.

I wish there were an option for more stars!! Our company went through quite the due diligence in getting four different quotes for reviewing our processing needs. From the very start, working with our local rep Aaron in Spokane, WA was a much different experience than the other companies. He was upfront and educating, keeping in contact without being pushy and respectful of our time and process to make the right choice. And boy did we ever!! Gravity has saved us money from the very start and helped lead us into a better operating system that offers cost savings and up to date equipment. We use both the virtual terminal and a counter top machine. Aaron has gone above and beyond in helping us familiarize ourselves with the equipment and making sure we were clear about all up front costs and ongoing fees. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND using him and Gravity for a hassle free, money saving credit card processor. You will not be disappointed.

Great team that really cares about their merchants. They practice transparancy and competitive rates to help small business owners. Also the CEO lowered his salary of $1 million to give everyone in the company a base of 70k in order to help provide them with a real living wage and that's pretty awesome in my book.
