Yelp
I had wicked high expectations after reading all the reviews, especially for the Animal Burger. I was slightly disappointed.
We made reservations for a Friday evening. It wasn't crazy busy as I thought. In fact, it was just the right amount of people. We got there early, but was seated right away. Started off with a cocktail each, the Slow Fall. This drink was pretty good and strong; bitter and sweet at the same time. I think it was a popular choice as I looked around the room and saw at least five people with the same drink. We also ordered an old fashioned. The master bartender (was his last day that night) made the drink. I'm not a fan of old fashioned but my partner really loved it.
We ordered a bunch of shareable plates because our eyes were bigger than our stomachs:
Cuban cigar - There was nothing special about the Cuban cigar. The sauce helped to give it some flavor but for $4 each, it wasn't worth it.
Swedish meatballs - The Swedish meatballs were huge. We ordered small size but it came with 4 big meatballs. Bonus was the gouda cheese inside the meatball.
Turkey wild rice soup - creamy, but nothing special about it. Almost forgettable.
Mac n cheese - wicked creamy, but again nothing special.
Rosemary salted fries - My favorite of the night. Esp the duck fat mayo. It was the perfect amount of salt. You won't be disappointed. Get this to compliment your burger, if you're debating between other sides.
Our main entree was the Animal Burger. We ordered one each. It was just meh. Let me tell you, I've been to In n Out on numerous occasions and this burger does not live up to the hype. I assume they were trying to intimate an In n Out burger, but if I'm wrong I apologize. Really nothing special, Juicy Lucy would've suffice.
All in all, great atmosphere, attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff. The drinks and foods were expensive. Street parking only!
I gave it 4 generous stars, mainly for the atmosphere and waitstaff.
