Gray Line Montreal

The tour guide was great, driver was fantastic. BUT organization skills and problem solving process' below average. Our bus broke down, we were stranded in the initial place for over 2 hours then finally we went to Quebec with another tour bus who dropped us off in the city with instructions to meet up at 6pm. We were there for a while and just happened to see the tour guide with another group. She saw all of us in the rain soaked as the bus wasn't there 40 people waiting in the rain with no information. The tour guide contacted her employer who contacted Grayline Coaches to find out what was happening. After waiting an hour in the rain the bus showed up. We were delayed by approx 2-3 hours all wet and annoyed. Will think long and hard before using this sightseeing coach again.

I have done a couple of Gray Line Tours and up until yesterday, the experience had been a positive one. This tour is so disorganized and poorly run that it is not worth the money. We didn't even finish the tour and we definitely didn't use the wristband the next day. Save your time and sanity and either walk or über to the locations you want to see.

Had a pleasant experience myself! Some of the previous reviews were scaring me but I thought I’d still give them a chance and I enjoyed it! Norman the driver/tour guide was very informative and knew so much history about Montreal! He took us everywhere in the bus, took short cuts when he saw traffic building up and was just such a delight! Would definitely recommend!

Delay after delay! We arrived on time for the 1100am bus but it was full. Then the 1115, 1130, and 1145 bus never showed. So at 1200 - an hour later after standing at the stop waiting while others cut and pushed their way ahead of others (people are damn rude) we finally got on a bus. Then... It took forever to get anywhere! The route doubles back on itself so you get to see the same things again and again. Two hours later we finally arrived at stop 8 and took a walk to the chalet and cross then hopped on another bus at stop 9 to head back to the starting point. Then the nerve of the driver seeing you off the bus at the door while you exited repeating to each person as they exited to tip your guide (forced tipping at it's worse). No thanks, you didn't do anything to deserve it. We had to get off this bus just to walk up and get on the one in front to continue on with the tour. Also, if you purchase your tickets online you still have to go to the main Grey Line Information Center to get your wristbands! The Bad: Poor Planning, Bad Route, Slow Going, Forced Tipping, Misinformation, Older Buses are horrible. The Good: You do get to see the city. Do I recommend this? NO

Using the 2 days hop on hop off pass, it's a good way to tour around downtown Montreal if you don't want to drive into the congested downtown area and finding parking spots. I used it the first round to tour around the city and identify the spots of stops we were interested. It worked well for us.

I DONT want HEAR all that chattering. There should be an option to switch off these loud speakers. I am hating this trip because of such a loud NOISE right next to me which I am not willing to hear. Why u couldn’t have headset who ever wish to hear can plug those in or some app. You ruined my trip.

I bought a combination pass - 2 days, 1 night tour. The first day was great and had amazing guides. I did end up stuck at their starting point for several hours waiting for the night tour at 7. Unfortunately the underground city closes at 5 on Sunday. Eventually the bus arrived and everyone pushed & shoved to get on first so despite the fact I was there first, I almost didn’t get a seat upstairs. Fortunately I did but then things changed. Due to being stopped in traffic, I knew I wouldn’t be able to continue without using a restroom so when they offered a courtesy stop at the old harbor, I got off. The representative in the red shirt told me to meet right where we were in one hour. 45 minutes later I met at that spot but when the bus arrived, the driver pointed up the road. With bad knees I almost didn’t make it to the bus - it was quite a jog. There were no seats upstairs and one downstairs (side facing). People were literally laying around sleeping. At another stop a few downstairs got off so I at least got a forward facing seat. But I saw absolutely nothing. It was a long ride and quite disappointing. I’d like to say the tour was informative but I couldn’t hear over the people talking in front of me. Today I tried again. The bus broke down at stop 4. Another showed up after a wait but only had 11 spots. People crowded the bus because of course they have to. When I saw the line starting to form, I realized it was too hot to stay there then hoping to get a decent seat.. I gave up. I’ve been on these tours before in other cities but this was not worth it.

My family and I have done hop-on-hop-off tours in many cities. All have been wonderful experiences until today. The Gray Line tour in Montreal was a downright unpleasant experience. The narrator was rude and abusive to the riders. The experience was so bad that my family and I got off the bus after only 30 minutes and although I paid for the night tour and a second day I rather lose my money than get on that bus again. It is a shame that one person can ruin the reputation of a business with his unpleasant and unprofessional attitude. Credit where it is due: The lady at the desk was extremely nice and sweet. The driver was also courteous and professional.
