On the Grid : GRDN Bklyn

"GRDN is a Brooklyn essential to any urban gardener, whether novice or veteran. Their assortment of indoor and outdoor plants sprawls throughout the store and out to the back patio, where you can wander and forget the city for just a moment. Inside amongst the flowers, you’ll find home products like stylish gardening tools and furniture, in addition to modern pottery and paper goods." - Brooklyn Digital Foundry

"Primarily an event- and editorial-focused stylist, Amy Merrick's arrangements are lush, evocative creations with creative combinations of classic flowers with foliage, branches, and unexpected fruits like blackberries. She teaches floral design classes out of her Brooklyn studio and delivers single arrangements as her schedule allows; it's definitely worth trying her for a special occasion."

I've recently become very interested in plants, and I've visited nearly every plant shop in Manhattan and Brooklyn. But I've never come across a place with such high-quality pots, beautiful flowers and plants, and such a thoughtfully curated space. It's by far my favorite spot. I had a brief conversation with the owner today about the plants, and it truly made me happy—it was such a joyful experience. Thank you for being so kind and welcoming! I'll definitely be back next week to see more plants.

Was scared cause of bad reviews. Needed a cheaper bouquet for my daughter. Walked in and told one of the 4 people working there that my cap is $30. She made this in 5 min. It was perfect. They price by flower like many florists - some are $6, some are $11, some are $3, and when they put it all together it’s that price.

Google
Nicely curated shop. Have bought many beautiful pots from here over the years. Glad and grateful it's still around.

Google
Wonderful store. Pricy but they have high quality flowers, planters, and gardening tools. I visit often. It’s great for gifts and their cut flowers are gorgeous, many of which you won’t find in other flower shops. I bought a few things today, and the woman who was working the counter threw in this cut flower as a gift, which I had been admiring earlier— very sweet. The owner is a quiet person but she has always been happy to help when I’ve asked.

Google
The flowers were gorgeous and so healthy! My lady loved them! Want to thank Sara for putting together a beautiful set of flowers. I went in not knowing what I wanted and Sara went above and beyond putting together something special for my lady. Sara for the win !!! It was also really nice to meet Adaeze , she was nothing but nice I will definitely be back. If you’re ever thinking of stopping by the GRDN do it !

Google
Great flower selection! The florist helped me put together a thoughtful arrangement, and also helped me schedule a flower delivery. Delivery was quick and on-time. Would recommend as a nice neighborhood flower shop.

Google
Very cute and cozy plant store. The plants are well taken care of and there are some hidden gems. I found they have a pot of string of dolphins and some cooking looking crested cacti. Staff is friendly and prices are good. Not much trees or hedges.

Google
Received a flower delivery yesterday and the flowers are absolutely beautiful - it really feels like a luxury experience to receive such a mix of exotic looking spring flowers!

Yelp
Stopped by grdn once again and received amazing service once again Sara is the absolute best!!! Her flower game and great people skills are amazing. Every time I go the customer service never fails top-tier !

Yelp
It seems as though once you're married, film posters and photographs of a rhinoceros defecating (no matter how artfully taken) are not appropriate decor for your home. In fact, hanging things on the wall simply isn't enough anymore. You also need plants. Luckily, GRDN has plants. Hanging plants, potted plants, flowers, herbs, branches, starters, plant food, succulents...they've got plenty of living decor. Don't be fooled by the small room you walk into either, there's a large backyard full of many different options as well, so they'll be able to fill most of your plant needs. And honestly, they really do brighten up a room, make it more like a home, and stop your wife from complaining about the framed photograph of Shea Stadium that anyone with eyes would call tasteful. As time has passed, I've come to appreciate GRDN more and more. The prices are still a little steep for my budget (but I imagine their rent is just as high as ours is in the neighborhood), but the staff been accommodating and willing to help with all my silly plant questions...which is what you'd expect from a plant store. However, Susanne, who I believe is the owner, went above and beyond yesterday. I was futilely trying to dig my car out after the recent snowstorm...with my boots, and she took pity on me and lent me a shovel. She didn't have to do that; I know that because the guy who lived right there just came outside to laugh at me and my wife. So thanks, Susanne, I'll be back for all my plant needs, and hopefully won't need a shovel again.

James R.

Yelp
GRDN is WNDRFL!!! Attentive staff, exquisite cut flowers, a variety of beautiful flower pots and a great assortment of gardening tools. Susanne and her team are terrific.

Kerry K.

Yelp
While other reviews mention that the staff are unfriendly and unhelpful, I wonder if the staff are also racist. I've visited GRDN on two desperate occasions and both times I was never acknowledged- I even gave them the benefit of the doubt with my second visit. While I was not acknowledged, both times when white male individuals entered, they were greeted with a "hello." This is so unfortunate, as I was interested in purchasing a pot. However, as much as I like the pot, I cannot support this business.

Yelp
GRDN is a quaint neighborhood flower shop and nursery. I stumbled across GRDN this weekend when I was actually walking home from a sidewalk plant sale. GRDN is filled with beautiful loose stemmed flowers to make exquisite arrangements. I didn't ask the price for each stem, but I can only imagine it would have been a very pricey arrangement - and for good reason. The flowers were unique and super high quality. Bottom line, this is not your typical Trader Joe's selection. They also had really nice ceramics and pottery, like beautiful handmade vases ($100+) and other artisanal decor type items. Some of the pottery was more reasonably priced, but all high end. There was a nice selection of indoor potted plants, succulents, and air plants. When you walk to their backyard, they had good selection of outdoor plants in their nursery. I bought a few things I was really pleased with. Everyone working in the shop was very nice and gave good instructions for long term plant care. I won't be getting my weekly bouquet of flowers here, but I will definitely keep it in mind for a special occasion!

Yelp
Bad customer service! I went in browsing for a planter for about 10 mins. The store lady working on the front desk didn't say anything, was just clipping stems. I didn't think much of it. Then this sweet woman walks into the store. She's picking floral arrangements. She asked the store lady at the front desk for advice because she said she "didn't know what she was doing." The store lady seemed bothered by the question and suggested [insert botanical nomenclature here.] She doesn't even get up from behind the desk to show her which flower she is talking about. Naturally, the woman is confused by her botanical greek and points to a flower -- "you mean this one?" The store lady sternly says "no." At that point, I've heard all I needed to hear. I decided I was going to take my business elsewhere. I don't know why people go into the plant business if they're not wanting to share their passion and knowledge of botany! Bad vibes! Didn't think that was possible at plant shops!

Yelp
Although the hours say 10 am here, when I got to this place at 10:45, it was still closed. The sign on the door said 11 am so I looked in the window to see what they had. I was going to wait around for a few minutes... However, A woman inside looked at me disapprovingly, mouthing "closed!" Eww. I didn't even knock on the door or bother her. I wasn't trying to come in before the time. My goodness. So rude. I decided not to wait. Pity. I love plants and was looking for something new. I'll spend my money at a small business who will appreciate the support.

Yelp
Unfriendly staff and rarely open. Based on the other reviews it feels as though I'm not alone in my impression of this neighborhood garden spot.

Yelp
Walked in today while I was on the hunt for a new pitcher plant. I was totally ignored by the two ladies working there. How hard is it to say hello and welcome to a prospective customer?

Anna S.

Yelp
Completely rude and unhelpful. I called to ask for advice on a plant and the dismissive and disinterested customer service rep said "I can't help you. That information would be online." I mean, duh, I've watched all the videos online and read all the articles--I was just trying to get some info from my local friendly plant store. Not this one--luckily Botanica nursery on Atlantic was very helpful over the phone and they said I could even bring my plant in so they could take a look at it in person. GRDN is a closer walk from my home, but I'll walk a tiny bit farther for a store that actually cares about their customers.

Yelp
I came in, waited for help for a good 10 min, the staff answered one of my questions (not exactly friendly) and then simply began ignoring me and sweeping the floor. Very weird, awkward service that makes you feel like you owe them something and youre nagging them to answer you. I left without buying anything. With their prices there should be a more attentive and professional staff that knows not to ignore costumers and sweeps the floor when there are NO costumers in the store, not in front on them. There were barely any customers inside and the lady made me feel like i'm a maid in her mansion. I think she needs a reality CHECK, without costumers she will be planting those flowers for herself and paying rent out of pocket.

Yelp
I have tried so hard to like GRDN since moving into a garden apartment in the neighborhood. I just can't. Over the course of a dozen trips there, I've concluded that the people at this store - led by Susanne, the grumpy manager - are consistently the most unpleasant, rude, pretentious people out there. Even when I'm paying a obscene amount of money for some flowers, they act like they can barely tolerate my business or my very existence. They have a gorgeously curated store with stunning plants and gifts (all priced in the stratosphere, which I could forgive if they backed up their products with quality service.) Sadly, what meets the eye is as good as it gets. I recently shelled out a crazy amount of money for a perennial shrub which died within a few months, despite following their planting directions. I brought back the remains to the store to ask if there was anything they could do, like offer a replacement or a partial credit. (For the record, most nurseries guarantee perennials for one year.) The manager acted like I asked the most ridiculous question she'd ever heard. She then proceeded to explain to me, like I was a five year old, that plants are living things that require all sorts of things to live - sunlight, soil, water, etc. She finished this story by suggesting that next time I go to a "big box store," a tone of disgust in her voice. You know what, you miserable person? I will. So much for shopping small and local.

Al S.

Yelp
I've wanted to go in this store for a long time ,always driving by. Finally went in to pick up a couple of things. The store itself is very cool with a number of beautiful flowers , and garden pots and tools, all so overpriced . And I mean over priced, But the beauty of this shop is so tarnished by the woman who runs it. She's got a scowl on her face ,never acknowledging my presence with a hello, after browsing for 15 minutes. That poor young man that was working there that day. She had the same demeanor towards him as well. She's rude and unhelpful. I will never go back in this store again. I'll spend my money elsewhere. Surprised those flowers aren't wilting with her bad vibes.

Russell R.

Yelp
So helpful! We bought some small plants a few months ago that recently took a turn for the worse. I brought them in and the storeperson went above and beyond - she diagnosed the issues (underwatered, not enough soil, should be in a ceramic pot), watered one of them, trimmed some dead shoots, and sold me just the amount of potting soil I'd need. Couldn't ask for more in a small neighborhood nursery/florist; we also love the branches and flowers that we buy to keep around for a week or two.

Yelp
I've furnished all of my apartment with GRDN plants, but after my last visit I'm officially done. Every time I go there the staff is rude and unhelpful, and act like your mere existence is a burden. The never tell you anything about the plants or give you care instructions unless you really push them, and even then they go out of their way to say the least amount possible before they take your money (which is a lot, this place is not cheap) and send you on your merry way. I absolutely hate writing negative reviews for neighborhood places, so all of this pains me to write, but this place is really a disappointment. 2 stars because it's clean and pretty cute inside, and has a good selection despite its small size.
google avatar

Marcel P.

Yelp
Horrible customer service. Rudest business owner on the planet. Perhaps managing this store is just a hobby for her, because, wow, I have never seen someone so terrible with customer service, almost like she is TRYING to not make any sales. The store only sells very expensive products (many are admittedly very beautiful) and their plants are way overpriced, but I get it, that's the neighborhood. Maybe I would occasionally splurge if the staff werent so unhelpful. They do not greet customers, answer every question with a condescending tone of superiority, dont actually seem to know much about plants (feels more like an overpriced "lifestyle" shop than a real plant store) and are just as snobbish as they come. You shouldn't feel like you're inconveniencing the employees by spending 4x the price on a flower as you would at another store, but welcome to GRDN.

Yelp
I love walking into GRDN's well-curated space. Year-round, I always find beautiful and interesting flowers for arrangements and my total ends up being less than I fear, so don't let it stop you. The wares offered are indeed on the pricier end, but so is the quality. They have a very well stocked garden in the back with a surprising variety. I was happy to have found Butterfly Milkweed (great for Monarchs), along with other perennials for other types of butterflies and bees. Most of the plants I saw are within our local Gardening Zone 6, some of which can be found on the High Line. Prices for plants are also very reasonable. NOTE: The sap from Milkweed is very toxic (ingested or topically) for both humans and pets. The ladies who helped me were helpful with my questions both when I called and walked in. I would highly recommend a visit to GRDN, both for flower arrangements and native plants. If you need a little pick-me up, it's a nice place to find a little something for yourself or your friends.

Melanie R.

Yelp
Expensive for what they offer. A simple medium sized clay pot was $24.95. And the staff were surly and unhelpful. I was one of two people in the store, and the first words I heard directed to me from the sales people were "would you like a bag". That was after I had been there for at least 20 mins, and had come to the register to buy the aforementioned clay pot (I was desperate). And after I watched the woman in front of me try to get the salespeople to help her choose between two plants by asking questions about sun exposure and watering schedule, all of which were met with blank stares, shoulder shrugs, and murmured 'not sure's'. It's a shame, because the space is cute. The potential to be the go-to spot for all the new downtown Brooklyn renters to fill their apartments with lush greenery is being thwarted by bad value and bad service.

M P.

Yelp
I say this with love-- the owner needs to find a different front woman. I don't know if she's rude or sad or shy or whatever... but is so off putting and unfriendly that I ran out of there even though I had money to spend. Go only if you don't mind a really downer vibe.
google avatar

Sara Y.

Yelp
they have very good selections, but other ppl have already reviewed, the customer service is NOT good... unfriendly:( so without it, you can still go shopping there. I wish they opened early morning

Yelp
I was in need of a bunch of small bouquets as small gifts for my colleagues in honor of Mother's Day and decided to stop by GRDN since it looked so lovely from the outside. I understand that it's right before Mother's Day and they might not have been able to help, but the way the women in this store spoke to me was horrifying. They wouldn't speak to me further when I told them I wanted to spend $20 per bouquet. I understand you may work with a fancier clientele, but I'm a human and speaking to me like one should not be a challenge. I happen to plan events as a second job and will make sure this is never the florist we use in the neighborhood.

Mark M.

Yelp
GRDN does have stylish vibe, and they sell nice pots, but their plants are mediocre at best, and they're incredibly expensive. For those prices, one would think they would be happy to explain how to properly care for the plants they sell, or at least that they'd be friendly and try their best, but no. They were curt to the point of rudeness and they weren't willing to discuss the plants I was buying, either time I went in there, even when the store was completely empty but for me. Fool me once.... Worse yet, the succulent they sold me for an absurdly high price had damaged roots and was actually two sick plants potted together to look like one healthy one. (Seriously??) Furthermore, it was a pencil cactus (euphorbia tirucalli) which I later found out is toxic to pets! How could a store not alert customers to something like that? Shameful, no? I live around the corner, so it's sometimes tempting, but best to avoid.
google avatar

Sam H.

Yelp
I couldn't agree more with the other reviews on here. I've walked in an out of GRDN a number of times over the past year, admiring their lovely and unique arrangements only to be met by their rude and smug employees with a holier than though attitude. We popped in on Saturday - were ignored for 15mins then held the door for the owner who also ignored us. We were looking for a saucer for a planter and when we asked if they had anything under $30 or a plastic option - they scoffed saying, "we don't sell plastic"... GRDN should consider shutting their doors to the public & only operating floral sales online because the only lovey thing in their store is the flowers. Spend your money everywhere but here.

Yelp
This shop is bright and inviting. I was most intrigued with their Angel Vine topiaries and the chest-high table with glass vases full of flowering branches and single stem blossoms. The proprietor had white anemones, pussy willow, thistles and respectable sprays of mottled, warm colored roses. Prices for cut flowers are (justifiably) on the high end, but the cost for live plants is competitive. I walked out with a small but dense fern and a new brightly colored recycled-plastics container for less than $17. -----edited 3/31. When I first went in, I told the proprietor that I was looking for a mid-size, boston fern. A week after my first visit, the most beautiful, healthy boston fern is mine. MINE! So, thumbs up for responsive shop buyers. On my second visit, I also noticed that they have a pretty extensive collection of leather gardening gloves for women, in S/M/L sizes. This is awesome for anyone who wants to do outdoor planting and doesn't have gigantic Man Hands that fit into those baseball mits they sell at most garden stores.
google avatar

Matt E.

Yelp
GRDN didn't have anything I needed and I didn't buy anything here. I'm only writing a review because the woman who helped me was incredibly friendly, helpful, and even went as far as to call another store down the street to ask if they had what I needed. How's that for service? The place is called GRDN but they have more decor and items to complement garden items then they actually have plants (which they do have some of as well). I took a star away because a couple things I did want there (mostly decor related) were a little too pricey for my liking.

Sandra B.

Yelp
GRDN is absolutely magical. Its hands down the best garden and flower shop in Brooklyn. The taste level is impeccable. Once you come here to shop for the first time, you never think of anywhere else to go for all your garden, flower and interesting home needs. Everything is organic, local and just what you wanted. I buy all of my seeds, soil, plants, flowers, and gifts here regularly. Thank goodness this special place exists!
google avatar

Shaun D.

Yelp
Awful customer service. Bought a Fiddle Leaf Fig for $80, asked how I should care for it and I was told to "google it." I asked how much sun the tree requires, again, the response was "just google it." Never, ever, buying anything from this place again. There are plenty of other options which have much better customer service.

Lauren R.

Yelp
The customer service at GRDN is the worst I have ever experienced. I purchased a $32 ivy plant and placed it on a shelf in my home. Four weeks later, I noticed that the leaves were brown and upon further inspection, it was infested with spider mites (which could not possibly have come from anywhere other than GRDN since it was never outside once I purchased it). I went into the store to tell them what happened and was told it was my problem. NO refunds or exchanges. I asked what would have happened if I bought some beautiful roses only for them to die a day later and was told, again, that would be my problem, they offer NO refunds or exchanges. GRDN runs its business like a used car dealership -- bug infestations and dying plants are your problem, not theirs. Don't waste your time or money at GRDN. There are plenty of other places in the area with better prices and better service. Try Opalia or Dig or Seaport Flowers -- all fantastic.
google avatar

E B.

Yelp
This place may put some people off because of its high-priced and hyper-curated vibe, but they really do have some special and gorgeous things there that I haven't seen anywhere else. In addition to the lovely plants you already know about (OK fine...I'm not leaving this part out for the sake of conciseness--I really don't have a green thumb, I know nothing about their plants' prices, quality, or durability, because I've never taken one home), GRDN also has beautiful, beautiful ceramics, many by local artists. Really worth checking out. Also: air plants. Yup. See it to believe it.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
GRDN is one of my favorite neighborhood shops. We frequently visit and GRDN always has new beautiful pieces. I appreciate their support to many local artists. The selection at GRDN is quality over quantity. Susanne has a beautiful selection of outdoor plants that you can't find at most nurseries. The staff has always been really kind to us, even when the store is crazy busy. It's a SMALL business with a small staff, I don't expect them to kiss my feet every time I walk through the door like some of these other reviewers. Patience goes both ways. I will continue to always shop here. The neighborhood wouldn't be the same with out it.

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I was so excited to have this store in my neighborhood but my experiences here as a customer have been terrible. I'm shocked at how unhelpful and reticent the staff is here, even when you're the only customer there. They don't even acknowledge you and seem barely interested in being there. I can't recommend anyone shop here if you're actually looking for guidance or even assistance.
google avatar

Ashley T.

Yelp
My favorite garden store in the neighborhood. I come in almost every week and love the environment. The owner is super helpful and I love the curation of the space.
google avatar

Ash C.

Yelp
I really like this store but GRDN is breeding a MOSQUITO INFESTATION. On our latest visit, we walked in, went to the backyard, looked at a single rosemary plant, and left with SEVEN mosquito bites. I'm not sure if I'm allergic to the particular species that's infested GRDN but each and all of these bites have grown enormous and are crazily itchy. We don't plan to swing by again until winter.

Josh S.

Yelp
I don't usually write bad reviews... 1. paltry selection 2. rude, unhelpful staff (actively ignored us, the only customers in the store, and... would it kill you to smile?) 3. overpriced. that's it. plenty of other gardening stores in the area to go to other than GRDN.
google avatar

Katie L.

Yelp
Have been wanting to check this place out. I came ready to spend lots of money for an indoor garden, but I agree with Josh S's review in that I felt they actively ignored us. I was the only customer in the store, but as soon I walked in, they went straight to the back and didn't come out to offer any help. Beautiful store with stunning flowers and well edited selection of accessories, but I have no desire to support a store that had such disregard for their customers' experience.

Dan K.

Yelp
I've lived within a few blocks of Grdn for the past 6 years. And, on occasion, I've purchased items there. They have a fine selection, albeit somewhat overpriced. But that's to be expected for the location, I suppose. But if I could give them zero stars, I would. Every single time I've entered the store, I've been greeted not with indifference--but what seems to be flat out disdain, as if I have interrupted the staff's day. I'm almost certain (though I can't be 100%) that most often, it's the owner I've encountered, as well. I've never been greeted upon entering the store (save once, by a gentleman working there)--which would normally be fine. We no longer expect to be friendly with shopkeepers these days, right? But to get what can only be called a cold--frigid, really--shoulder is ridiculous. I've come to enjoy your store, and to spend money. That seems to be unwelcome at Grdn. I would have let this all go, and not posted a review...had it not been for my last ditch effort to visit Grdn this past weekend. My partner and I walked in and said hello to the woman working in the store (who I believe to be the owner)--she looked straight at us, glared icily, said absolutely nothing, and turned back to her coworker and continued her conversation. We immediately left. I'd much rather walk a few blocks down Atlantic Ave. to the wonderful Dig. They are friendly, gracious, and pleased to share their time and knowledge. I suggest you do the same.

Chris J.

Yelp
I've purchased two plants from Grdn. Both have been wildly overpriced. One is the most beautiful orchid I've ever seen. It's been in full bloom for months. Super healthy. I'm okay with paying a lot for that, but I also bought a pitcher plant, which the guy there told me needs minimal water, a draining pot, and indirect light. ALL of which I've discovered has been poor advice from many other stores. I'm okay with paying money for the best, but my overpriced pitcher plant is almost dead because of this advice. I'm a big fan of Sprout in Williamsburg these days if you want another option.
google avatar

Melody L.

Yelp
Grdn is a really lovely establishment where you can find a beautiful selection of unusual and unique plant varieties. This is the place to go if you're over geraniums and impatiens and are looking for something enchanting for your garden. Inside, they also have a charming shop with a discerning selection of interesting indoor plants, beautiful pots and gifts, and high quality seeds, soil, organic fertilizers, tools and books. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help.
google avatar

Noah K.

Yelp
This is a gorgeous little store with a beautiful assortment of plants & garden supplies. Friendly & knowledgable staff, great location.

David B.

Yelp
They carry seedling supplies (soil-less medium, trays, etc.) and seeds at prices competitive with anyone else, regardless of what else they sell. I wanted organic and heirloom seeds, and they carry Hudson Valley Seed Library and Seed Savers Exchange seeds. The employees do not come out to greet you or ask you if you need help, but if you ask THEM questions, they are very lively and responsive. I think other reviewers might have confused a hands-off approach with being rude. Also, once it's warmer out, they have plenty of starts in the back garden. I read a review (written in October) wondering why there weren't seedlings in October... All things in season, my friend.

Sarah H.

Yelp
This place on the whole doesn't really deserve five stars, so my apologies as this is a bit misleading, but the owner's aesthetic and the selection of cut flowers are just so amazing that I turn a blind eye to the negatives. By the owner's aesthetics, I mean the indoor and outdoor pot selection; the saucers in copper and other metals; the simple and beautiful plant stands; the books; the watering cans and gardening accessories, like clippers, trowels and gloves; and the antique linens, soaps and table accessories. Honestly it's such a fantastically curated selection. And the cut flowers are equally beautiful. The negatives are that sometimes there isn't a great selection of plants. And sometimes the outdoor plants in the back don't look to be in great shape. And that it can be expensive. While the expense is appropriate for the more beautiful and sometimes handmade pots, it definitely is a bit silly to spend $10-$20 on plants that you can get at Home Depot for $5 or just root yourself.

Pammy K.

Yelp
I love GRDN. Susanne carries so many great plants and products. Prices are very fair in this small well-curated store. The staff is friendly but not overbearing. I always feel happy to look around and get great ideas for gifts. I rarely leave empty handed. I'm thankful to have such a great resource in my neighborhood.

M M.

Yelp
One of my most favorite destinations for plants . I find the quality of plants to be excellent and the staff super friendly and helpful. My only negative is I wish they had more assortment . Keep up the great job !

Rachelle R.

Yelp
I don't know how a place with this name could NOT sell any seeds or seedlings! All I saw were mediocre flowers, candles, teas and soaps. Sure it smelled delicious in there and the lady/owner is super sweet, but I was pretty disappointed by the hodgepodge of overpriced crap. Also, not much info on their website so you might want to call before heading over there if you want to buy something specific. Meh.

Yelp
GRDN is a Brooklyn gem -- Suzanne has incredible taste and I always end up finding something special when I come here. We had a hard time picking plants for a shadier window box and she patiently helped us choose a beautiful combination of plants. Worth a visit for her expertise and style alone. A wonderful place to come and find inspiration.

Yelp
GRDN did wildflower arrangements for my wedding. The arrangements were simultaneously understated and stunning--without being gaudy they were eye-catching, strikingly beautiful and extremely interesting to look at. Afterwards a number of people took them home (in the hours after the wedding guests were spotted carrying them around Brooklyn). According to the mother of the bride who worked closely with staff, the staff followed very closely her wishes and were very accommodating. The price was well beneath the minimum that would have been charged by the venue's vendor.

Yelp
This is one of my all time favorite shops in Brooklyn. The flowers are so beautiful and there is nothing more romantic than browsing when they get a fresh delivery. We bought our flower boxes for our front windows and owner laid out the most unusual selection of plants for us. I love them. I wish we had more shops like this in the neighborhood.

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars, I would. My boyfriend bought me a Valentine's Day bouquet here. When he placed the order, he had told the staff that I didn't like roses and anything ordinary. She gushed saying they don't make any ordinary bouquets at GRDN. She then asked red theme for Valentine's Day or spring. He chose red. He brought them home today a few days early bc we are going on vacation on Sunday and he wanted me to be able to enjoy them for me than one day. I happily accepted the flowers but deep down I was appalled. My first thought was are these for someone's Jewish grandmother or something? First of all there were roses in the bouquet but worst of all they were this horrible russet reddish brown color! Mixed in with that we're some ORDINARY red tulips I could have gotten from the deli across the street, eucalyptus springs interspersed sparingly. Oh and please don't let me forget the 4 fuchsia poppies and sprig of pink carnations. The color combination was awful. Even my boyfriend mentioned he had expected a little more. He even apologized when he gave them to me! Do not go to this store if you are looking for a bouquet to give as a present. You and the recipient will both be disappointed and you will have wasted a lot of money.
