I felt the variety of food at the Bay View Restaurant was sufficient, particularly at breakfast. Our rooms were very clean, and housekeeping was on point. The activity staff were enthusiastic, and the location is great for swimming.
That said, the staff at the Bay View need serious, serious training. Servers dropped cutlery and plates literally every day, and the service was very hit or miss (mostly miss). Some servers showed too much attention, while most showed not enough. In general, they were poor at anticipating the needs of their guests. Milk was left at every table (for coffee) to spoil in the heat, yet few tables had ketchup, and requests for anything were not filled promptly. Staff didn't seem to consistently enforce the "wait to be seated" policy, with some hosts/hostesses just waving guests in to seat themselves, and, at other times, no one being on duty to welcome people. I twice had to seat myself, and servers who saw me waited until I had brought my food to the tables and begun eating to tell me the tables were reserved (there was no indication they were). One server cleared my place (including cutlery) before I was finished eating. Another cleaned a table we were already seated at by wiping the crumbs off the table and into our laps.
Worst of all was Il Pescatore, where we were kept waiting for 45 minutes before our entrees arrived, with no explanation or apology.
I heard several guests criticize the quality of the food, but I felt it was fine, as there were always plenty of options, especially when you include the pizzeria and other restaurants, which I didn't frequent much. I'm fairly independent, so was happy enough with the Bay View, because the incompetence of the staff allowed me to pretty much serve myself.
A few other issues with the facilities: the shower curtain liners are too long, and pose a trip hazard; combined with the high tubs, I feel that better safety measures should be put in place--especially for older guests (or perhaps those taking advantage of the alcohol). Also, the fitness room is missing free weights between 10 and 30 lbs, which I think is a popular range. This was an issue for serious gymgoers, as I needed weights around 20-25 lbs, and was forced to use 30, leaving another guest who needed the 30s forced to use the 40s. The room is popular in the mornings, and the water cooler ran out of water on two separate days within two hours of opening. The water should be checked more frequently. The restrooms around the corner from the fitness room need total renovation. Guest rooms could use soundproofing or tighter seals around the doors. Water pressure in the showers, especially at colder temperatures, is nonexistent. Finally, I would like to believe "adults only" doesn't necessarily mean "partiers only"; all I heard music-wise around the pools was loud reggae, calypso, and dance beats. Not everyone is there to get wasted, and some people would appreciate a more relaxing tempo--especially at such a beautiful location!
