Decades-old Farmers Lane favorite for big portions and classic Chinese American plates. Often noted in local guides and recent reviews, it’s loved for speedy lunch specials and reliably satisfying standards.

Google
One of my go to places for lunch specials there prices and portions are great they even give soup on to go orders. I like the Mongolian beef with fried rice and the bbq pork and mixed vegetables with fried rice lunches and it comes with a crab puff. Pics to come

Google
Awesome experience and Awesome food! My wife and I are new to the area we are here for work wanted to order Chinese food and she was against it because he was afraid of what we would get I did a little research and found this place relatively close to where we are when I got there the staff and the customers were all in a great mood being very friendly and helpful one lady told me she had been coming there for 20 years and drives quite a ways out of her way because it's worth it I went ahead and ordered and she was right it was definitely worth it we will be coming here again and again this is our new Chinese food home I would highly recommend to anyone in the area to check it out the portions were great the food was excellent and the staff was very friendly it felt like we were back in Texas! still coming once a week and still loving it!

Google
Great wonton soup. And the only place I know where you can get the old fashioned chow mein with the crunchy noodles, I don't mean pan fried, I mean those tan crunchy noodles you often see on salad bars, see photo attached. Years ago we use to get it at the China kitchen on Mendocino Ave. missed for years until I found this place.

Google
Small basic Chinese restaurant serving the dishes you'd expect. Went mid-day on a Saturday and it was empty but for takeout pick-ups. Restaurant was clean but not obsessively so. Service was very speedy! Food quality was excellent. Clean flavors with each distinct element of a given dish able to be identified. That's pretty rare these days. Their velveting technique is excellent, giving the meats a wonderful texture. Char siu is on point. Veges crunchy and not overcooked. Both wor won ton and hot and sour soups were exceptional. A highlight in the Santa Rosa Chinese food scene!

Google
I ordered the seafood clay pot. My food came out VERY hot (as it should be) and white rice. Both were exceptional, the dish had a superb variety of veggies. The portion was massive. I will return.

Google
Normally really good but today most dishes were not normal. Our chow mein was beyond extra wide egg noodles same size if not bigger so weird with bok chow never in chowmein...and all the other dishes didn't taste quite right...pretty disappointed spending $80+ DOLLARS not to be right

Google
It gets 3 1/2 stars it just doesn't get a full 4 star rating. It is above average but fall short of me really liking it. Might be the average atmosphere, nothing too impressive. But one of the better Chinese restaurants in the area, food wise.

American Lover

Google
Chinese specialties like hot pot with outstanding spare ribs, pork, rice, the most delicious warm soup, Great China is our family’s favorite place to the fabulous Hot Pot dishes north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Yelp
Been going here for at least 20 years and while there have been some highs and lows in food quality - the last 5 years the food was excellent, especially for the price. But in the last year the food, unfortunately, has gone downhill. I consistently order Sichuan Chicken and Won Ton Soup, among other items. Both these dishes have reduced quality. The chicken pieces taste as from the freezer and always overcooked, the won tons flavor is off - like rancid oil. With recent price increases I may broaden my search in the future.

Yelp
Husband and I have eaten here twice and both times were pretty good. We came for the lunch specials. First time: I got Szechuan Beef lunch special with chow mein and Husband got Almond Chicken with pork fried rice. The crab Rangoon was pretty good but didn't have much filling. The hot and sour soup was extremely hot (I had to put in a couple of ice cubes), but once it cooled down it was delicious. Usually Husband has better food than I do. It's quite rare that we both like my food better, but this was one of those times. My food tasted fresh while Husband's food kind of tasted like a freezer food that had been microwaved. Hard to explain, but Husband was less than satisfied with the selection. The second time we came, Husband got the Mongolian Beef lunch special, and I got Beef Bok Choy Chow Fun. Even though it wasn't on the lunch menu, I still got served hot and sour soup. Beef with Bok Choy Chow Fun was always my favorite Chinese dish growing up, and this lived up to my standards which surprised and delighted me. One again, Husband liked my food better. It's been a number of months since we've been here so we should go again soon. The restaurant has a few nice decorations, some tables and some booths, and is relatively quiet. The first time we came, there was a table of older gentlemen that seem like they're regulars. The servers let them take their time and didn't try to rush them out the door. There is ample parking in the lot and we've been able to park quite close both times. If you're in the area and looking for Chinese food, try Great China!

Yelp
I used to love this place but got hair in my food one time, so I stopped going in for a long while. I was driving by there today and decided to go in. I sat down at a table and a very unwelcoming woman came up and slapped a menu on the table as she walked by and didn't even look at me. I noticed that my plate on the table had water underneath it so I moved it to dry it out. Gross. Why am I doing this? They don't care about customers. I took a look around and realized that this place just sucks, so I got up and left. I doubt I'll ever go back to this unwelcome Chinese situation.

Yelp
Possibly the worst Chinese food I've ever had. We chose it because of great online reviews. We got 2 meals: Orange Sesame Chicken & Prawns with Lobster Sauce. The prawns meal was SO BAD we actually threw it out& just put the shrimp in the very thin wonton soup. How bad was this food? ALL of the vegetables were clearly canned. There was a tiny portion of egg. The sauce looked like water. Inedible! (Hence throwing it out & putting the shrimp into the wonton soup.) Orange sesame chicken is pretty hard to mess up, but it was just preformed very small boneless chicken tenders with an extra-thick super gooey premade sauce & a sprinkle of seeds on the top. Everything was heated through similar to a microwave. If I wanted a plate of canned & frozen food, I could have bought a frozen dinner. I am really disappointed I wasted any money on these and they won't be getting another dollar from us. I would be dubious of the glowing reviews and I hope that the owners learn that people can recognize canned peas, carrots, mushrooms and bamboo shoots at the very minimum.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over 15 years service has always been great and friendly the ambience of the restaurant is very nice food excellent experience every time!

Yelp
Great food Was fast and friendly we go there on the weekends busy time but the food is always good and hardly any wait time

Yelp
I've been going to Great China for many many years and have always been happy with my food choices! Someone posted a negative comment about them using canned mushrooms. Well, I love them. So there Favorites: mushu veggie, bbq pork fried rice, pot stickers, hot and sour soup.

Yelp
The wife and I finished our second meal here today. I got the Mongolian beef lunch special and she got Beef Chow fun. The lunch specials come with a very generous proportion of the side, I'd definitely recommend the pork fried rice as it was seasoned very well and was quite delicious. The sweet and sour soup was good and came out very quickly and was piping hot. It's nice to not have to sit around for a long time before you're served and receive your food. The service was very prompt and the people who run this place are quite friendly and sociable. My Mongolian beef was pretty good but I think my Wife's beef Chow Fun was better than my food. My Pork fried rice was definitely the best part of my meal for sure. The cream cheese puff was pretty good and I immediately devoured it. The first time we went I had a very similar experience, my wife ordered the spicy Szechuan Beef lunch special and it was fantastic. The best thing either of us have had from Great China. The first time I went I got the Almond Chicken (not something I usually order) just to mix things up and I honestly wasn't a big fan. The pork fried rice and sweet and sour was still fantastic and made me want to try this place again but the almond chicken was definitely not a flavor I enjoyed. Not sure if it was just a subpar almond chicken or it's just the kind of thing I might not prefer. Either way I'm glad I came back and am looking forward to trying this place again.

Yelp
Excellent food for a strip mall Chinese restaurant! Try the Wor Wa Wonton soup, far better than regular. Good Black Bean sauce. Attentive service, large portions, reasonable prices. Not very focused on ambiance, take out orders keep the phone ringing.

Bill T.

Yelp
I discovered this place after giving up on Boiling Pot( formerly China Legend), For reasonably-priced fairly quick asian lunch. Love the war wonton soup,

Carol R.

Yelp
Great food! I love getting my lucky number when ordering pick up!!! Every one is very nice.

Chrisina L.

Yelp
I was very impressed with my to go order tonight! The house chicken was outstanding. The flavor was just what I was looking for. My favorite is the hot N sour soup!!! This is the first time in 5 years, I have not had to add vinegar to my soup! perfection! Great China was recommended by a friend. I can't wait to try other items on their menu! The food was fresh, you can tell it's made to order. I never post reviews.

Yelp
Delicious food, excellent service, convenient parking & very reasonable prices! We are now going here to Great China at least once every week!

John D.

Yelp
Super mid way over priced basically Panda Express with a high end price tag nothing authentic like you'd expect at these prices your basic microwave food
google avatar

Rene M.

Yelp
Food is great! It's not greasy and they use good quality produce. Service could be waaaay better. They have 2 servers and 1 buzzer (who speaks no English at all so cannot help) for a full restaurant
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place. Authentic, fast, clean, small intimate. Food is excellent, my father turned me on to this place 30 years ago.

Joe A.

Yelp
Lunch Menu Dec. 2023. $8.75 for a domestic beer??!?! Imported beer $1.50 less? What's up with these prices?
google avatar

Mali-Nelson O.

Yelp
Nice friendly staff, clean and organized. The cooking was standard. Fried Rice 8/10 Chowmien 8/10 Walnut Shrimp 8/10 Bejing Beef 4/10 Potstickers 5/10

Yelp
Patron for Twenty Five years, usually for Take-Out. A few years ago, Management changed. Prices increased and portion size decreased. The Quality of the food also suffered. We used to rate it with four stars, and visited frequently. Now it rates two stars, and is slipping. Tried it again on New Year's Eve, but we were disappointed. Is there a decent Chinese Restaurant in Santa Rosa?

Maria C.

Yelp
No complaints about the food, the food is excellent. I have brought family and friends there recently. However the service at the end was extremely uncalled for. My friend and I split the check. When the very old slender lady came by to pick up the receipts she yelled at us "where is the ticket this is the wrong one". He looked for it and he handed her the other ticket. I was like what? Why is she yelling? I was shaking because her attitude was completely uncalled for since it was an honest mistake on his part. Keep in mind before that we were in no hurry to leave as we were having great conversation. If she doesn't like her job she needs to quit. You shouldn't treat customers in that manner.

Yelp
Best Chinese food in santa rosa. My go to is beef fried rice, gyoza, beef chow fun and chicken wings. Service is always great the are very nice and attentive. Chill place go alone or bring the family.

Yelp
Great China in Santa Rosa is our family's favorite Chinese food restaurant. We measure every other Chinese restaurant by its standards, and they always fall short.
google avatar

Myrda G.

Yelp
First weekend without indoor mandatory mask mandate so my spouse and I decided to enjoy a sit down dinner instead of our typical take out. We both ordered individual dinners which are big enough for both of us to have enough for our lunches tomorrow. Everything tasted very fresh and cooked well ( veggies were crunchy but not undercooked). Cost for the evening including tip was only $60.00. Very friendly staff, we enjoyed our experience tonight. One piece of advice, between 5:30 to 7:30 this restaurant gets really busy. We arrived at 7:15 and every table was occupied or needed to be cleaned. By 7:45, we were the only people still eating at the restaurant.

R T.

Yelp
NOT Great China... very sorry to say. I was so excited for Chinese food, but it really wasn't very good. The eggrolls were dripping with oil that tasted rancid. Zero flavor. The rest of the food, beef, chicken even the eggplant, just not quality.
google avatar

Nyny T.

Yelp
I came here for lunch. The restaurant was family friendly. The service was quick. The waitress was very attentive. We all tried their lunch combo which came was soup and a crab puff as an appetizer. The lunch portion size was large and their prices were good. The food was very tasty. I like that they had a lunch combo with a mix of both fried rice and chow mein so you could try both.
google avatar

Roger B.

Yelp
I've been coming here for many years. However, food prices have doubled and the paper folded menus have oil and food stains. When I mentioned this hostess she didn't even look up and just offered a blase' "Umhum". Felt a bit disrespected. I would never hand a customer a dirty menu. Things have not changed for the better even with good portions... I don't think I'll be back.
google avatar

Carol P.

Yelp
I love this place! Been coming here for over 10 years! And I have to drive 25 minutes to get here, as I live out by Occidental. To me this is the #1 Chinese Restaurant in Santa Rosa. Everything is good, especially any of the soups, and everything else. You can't go wrong here, & excellent service. The ppl working here are lovely.

Blade R.

Yelp
This place is the Best Chinese Restaurant in Sonoma County! as far as Quality and service I've been coming here for over 20 years now and I'm never disappointed always Great service and Better Food and they offer a Dinner for one I Love that Sweet and sour Chicken Dinner
google avatar

Dillon L.

Yelp
Delicious, fast, great take out. Got the pork fried rice and sweet and sour chicken. They both were great. I usually order take out so can't comment on eating there but they are usually fast and I never have to wait. It had a great feeling though, felt like a Chinese restaurant. Ambiance was a chill vibe whike still getting orders out speedy. Only draw back is it's a tiny bit more pricey than I would like but it seems most Chinese restaurants are that way.
google avatar

Gin K.

Yelp
Another fabulous meal from Great China! I LOVE that I can request gluten-free and no MSG for our meals (green beans and also the garlic broccoli dishes). The broccoli was especially flavorful tonight, absolutely delicious. They're friendly, efficient, reasonably priced, and consistent in their good quality. Really hit the spot as I was craving this tonight.

Susie M.

Yelp
Has been awesome food for years! Love this place! It's a favorite of a lot of my friends as well we meet there often.
google avatar

Allison B.

Yelp
Listen. I've been going here since I was a baby this is my favorite of all time. It's been through it's changes but it's still made with love. All I ever want is the bbq fried rice.
google avatar

Izzy K.

Yelp
Best fried rice I've had in Santa Rosa! Our waitress was intuitive and swift. I will definitely come back here.

Baily W.

Yelp
I've eaten here since I was born, and I have to say it is by far the best Chinese food I've ever had. It's very "cozy" if you could describe that as a taste, warm and filling with large portion sizes which works really well in cold weather. Every other resturaunt I've been to are either too heavy on the ginger or too light, the balancing of flavors and salt levels results in an always enjoyable and laid back meal. This the go to as my comfort food, and I will continue to eat here for the rest of my life. Highly Recommended: Potstickers Walnut Prawns Orange Chicken Egg Rolls
google avatar

Atosa T.

Yelp
The food is ok, if you just want to eat something. They do have lunch time deals. Works out for ppl like me who need to eat fast and return back to the clinic. Old ambiance, but fast Crew .
google avatar

Virginia B.

Yelp
We tried this Chinese restaurant for lunch. Hubby and I had combination plate with beef and sweet and sour chicken. My brother had the crispy beef. Very tasty! Sweet and sour soup was a little weak but still ok. Place was clean, hostess was very nice and helpful. I would go then again!
google avatar

Cheryl M.

Yelp
I've recently rediscovered this hidden gem their lunch specials are a good value and I especially love the almond chicken one. The portions are generous, in fact I can get more than 1 meal out of it! The inside of the restaurant is more like a coffee shop but I'm not here for champagne and caviar. I noticed that they have a combination dinner just like the lunch which is great if you're eating solo and don't want to spend a fortune buying tons of stuff to get the same dinner. It's nice to see them staying in business all this time I definitely recommend you give them a try

Sheila R.

Yelp
My favorite place to go for the best Chinese food. It's always fresh, fast and hot. Never a complaint.

Lavi J.

Yelp
My favorite!!! Yum I love the pork, fried rice, fried shrimp, cashew chicken, and everything else I've tried. Super Duper fast service.
google avatar

Ellen G.

Yelp
Plenty of parking here. Ambience is nice. They offer complementary hot tea once you're seated. That's always nice. The food is great here. We usually order almost the whole menu lol. We started out with their Wor Wonton Soup. The soup is excellent and has a light broth with BBQ Pork, Chicken, Shrimp, Wontons, and veggies. Hands down, the best fried rice in California!!!! The fried rice is very similar to Chinese restaurants back in the East Coast. It's packed with flavor and they don't add much in it and no carrots and peas in sight. We also ordered the Mongolian Beef and made it extra spicy, but don't worry, it wasn't spicy at all, they just add more dried peppers in it lol. Also, one of my favorites is the Mushu Pork. You add the filling in the crepe and dip it in Plum Sauce. It's very unique and stands out then the other dishes. The last dish is my husband's favorite dish is the Seafood Combination. The seafood is very fresh, soft and is sautéed in a garlic sauce. Very light and flavorful. This is our favorite Chinese Restaurant. The service is always nice. They are very friendly and make you feel like you're home.

Yelp
I was hungry and did not know of any recommendations in the area. I stopped in and glad I found this delightful restaurant. The ladies are so kind and pleasant. We received excellent customer service. The food is very delicious. Tasty walnut and pineapple prawns, and cashew chicken, and and chicken Chow mein. Relaxing atmosphere. Come sit and enjoy
google avatar

Bonnie B.

Yelp
Have been going there decades! But the have changed a few things. Most importantly they changed the Hot and Sour soup. It is hot but not sour... and actually pretty bland. An searching for another Hot and sour soup. Another thing... they no longer make egg foo young.
google avatar

Jennifer W.

Yelp
Such a wonderful group of people who work at this restaurant - always greet me by name when I come in, and they remember my favorites. I'm obsessed with their steamed bbq pork buns - absolutely my favorite (I usually sneak one in the car on the way home after doing take out). Delicious won ton soup - really clean flavors and hits the spot. Love their orange chicken and cashew nut chicken. Their potstickers are pretty great too. Thank you for delicious food every time! :)

Kala S.

Yelp
Ya wanna know what's NOT great about GREAT China? Their weak subpar fortunes inside of their Fortune Cookies. They literally should call these General Statement Cookies. After enjoying your delectable meal, prepare yourself and your family for The Fortune Cookie Let Down. I don't know about you guys, but that truly ruins it for my family. It's so confusing...so, if you base your Chinese Food options on the depth of the Fortunes within the cookies they provide, do not come here. Now...If you give 0 Eff's about Fortunes and are only looking for some of the best Chinese food in Sonoma County, Great China lives up to their name. It's truly Great As a Self Proclaimed Potsticker Connoisseur and always on the hunt for the best potstickers, Great China sets the standard. I give them 5 Stars P.S. See Pics

Janis B.

Yelp
Excellent food and service!. The dinner menu items are a great deal and the food os fresh and service fast. You can call ahead for take out.
google avatar

Kalani W.

Yelp
Great China is wonderful. They're open for takeout orders with friendly service at the door and plenty of cleanliness. And hand sanitizer to share.

Yelp
I like it a lot. Very delicious we ordered the C family meal it was bomb. Came with 6 fried shrimp, sizzling rice soup, chicken beef and shrimp entres very very good washed it down with some jasmin tea

Kayla J.

Yelp
Over priced, not very fresh. Was okay for a last minute decision but I'd rather make the trip somewhere else.
