Great Fosters, an SLH Hotel

We have just spent 6 wonderful days at Great Fosters over the Christmas period. It was literally a faultless experience. We hosted 8 for Christmas Eve dinner, 21 for Christmas Day lunch, 9 for Boxing Day afternoon tea and other friends and family joined us for drinks and meals during our visit. The food was exemplary with service to match. Every member of staff was delightful and made us and our guests feel so welcome. The accommodation was excellent - spacious, modern facilities and spotlessly clean - we all slept well in peaceful, quiet rooms. The Christmas decor was magical, so many special touches and all the events organized carried out with perfection. Value for money was extraordinary. We got so much more than we ever budgeted for. We live in California so easy access to Heathrow and London was another bonus. |Adam and his team were amazing, made it so easy to organize such a big trip and we will for sure be returning! Thank you guys!

I received a voucher for Afternoon Tea for my birthday and went with my friend on Saturday, the 10th of January. It was absolutely lovely! Above all, the service provided by Eunice was outstanding. She has such a warm and friendly personality and is clearly dedicated to ensuring guests have a wonderful experience. I had the same afternoon tea over a year ago with my brother and sister-in-law, and Eunice was there then as well, I remembered her immediately for her attentiveness. The food was excellent overall, although the sweet bites didn’t feel quite as fresh as expected. Other than that, we truly loved the experience and had a great time. Thank you for a lovely afternoon in your beautiful hotel!

We had our wedding here a couple of years ago and returned on our anniversary for afternoon tea — and once again, everything was amazing. This place will always be special to us. From being the perfect wedding venue to delivering a beautiful afternoon tea experience, it truly couldn’t have been better. A special shoutout to our server, Chris, who was a fantastic host and wonderful company. He even took the time to show us around the grounds again so we could reminisce, which made the day even more meaningful.

The hotel is located in a beautiful location. It's beautifully decorated, and the front desk staff is professional and very helpful. Unfortunately, the service in the cocktail bar and restaurant is very poor. After ordering coffee at the cocktail bar, I had nothing to stir it with;), and I had to ask for a spoon. When I moved to the restaurant a little later, I waited 15 minutes for the waiter to come over. When he didn't show up after that time, I simply left.

Beautiful Manor house and grounds. We had a lovely spacious room and appreciated being given an upgraded room on check-in. Breakfast was of a good standard as was the bar food. Very disappointed with the evening meal in the main restaurant - some odd flavour combinations and the "interpretation" of a prawn cocktail was very poor - just one prawn and a prawn head. Seemed to be pushing the boundaries in a bad way! We were planning to also dine in the Michelin Star menu but after the experience in the main restaurant we decided to eat at a different location.

We were fortunate enough to hold our daughter’s wedding here last week. Thank you to Emma for sorting and arranging an incredible wedding . What a fabulous couple of days we spent here. The venue is amazing and created a gorgeous back drop for the day. We had sole use of the Tithe Barn, the bar area and the Orangery. All are splendid in their own way. The grounds are beautiful, just lovely for photographs. The staff were exemplary all around the hotel, a special shout out to the ladies in the breakfast restaurant and the lovely young man who catered for our many needs on the Friday morning in the Nursery suite. We used this room the night before and night of the ceremony as it sleeps 4 people and was a wonderful room for the bridal party to get ready in. Other rooms we used were ‘Deans’ (no.25) which was a spacious King size room with the softest most comfortable bed and a bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower which was incredible. Room 37 was a cosy double and was perfectly sized with all the usual facilities. The bridal suite (Queen Anne) was also incredible. Staff at the wedding were as you would hope, so efficient that you didn’t know they were there most of the time. Great job by the bar staff. Everyone worked very hard but we’re always polite . Everything was faultless, we had the best time and would recommend this as a wedding venue. One small issue afterwards was one of our guests lost a gold bracelet and when she telephoned reception and asked if it may have been found she found the staff member to be quite rude and unhelpful sadly. Such a shame as everything else was fabulous 🤗

We enjoyed a wonderful, one-night stay at Great Fosters, following our return from a Mediterranean cruise. We selected this hotel because of its unique charm, English garden, Michelin rated restaurant (Tudor Pass) on premise and proximity to Heathrow for our early flight the next morning. Built as a royal hunting lodge in the 16th Century, the hotel is steeped in history. Great Fosters was everything we expected, and more. Though we arrived early and our room was not yet prepared, we were warmly welcomed and took advantage of the time to walk the gardens on the property and share a drink in the bar. Our room was spacious, well-appointed and very comfortable. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Tudor Pass, where the food was creative, artfully presented and delicious. Prior to our flight the following morning, we had great breakfast in the breakfast room, where a very comprehensive breakfast menu is presented. Throughout our stay, the staff in the hotel, restaurants and bar could not have been more accommodating or provided better service. If you are seeking a unique and charming experience, Great Fosters is for you.

This is my third stay at this hotel, with this visit celebrating a very dear and close friend’s 60th. ||The Assistant Hotel Manager Adam Hulme, took the time to communicate and acknowledge the reason for this special stay and reunion. He was very personable which made me feel comfortable to communicate with him prior to our stay. Amazing customer service, thank you Adam! ||Great Fosters has an ambiance which is warm and inviting. The décor reflects the history of this hotel. I love the period features.||Each bedroom I have stayed in has been warm and inviting. I love the uniqueness of the rooms throughout this hotel, including the dog friendly section. ||The landscape garden areas and a bridge over streaming water with a fountain is so picturesque. Great to sit in the cocktail bar sipping on a drink and taking in the views.
