Mission Chinese Will Open in Bushwick in September - Eater NY

"One of the Bay Area’s most respected chefs will soon cook in NYC, bringing his acclaimed Napa restaurant the Charter Oak to Soho later this month. On September 20 and 21, Cadillac House New York will become a pop-up location of the more casual, seasonally focused Californian restaurant with a hearth, with dinner prepared by chef Christopher Kostow, who also owns Napa’s three-Michelin-starred the Restaurant at Meadowood. Only 100 tickets are available for each night, and they can be purchased here for $150. The dinner will start with cocktails on the veranda, followed by family-style dishes from Charter Oak’s seasonal menu, paired with California wines." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

I love Great Oaks Charter School, because my son loves Great Oaks Charter School. Since he began attending this school he has had a greater interest in reading and writing and learning about current events. He continues to excel in Math as he always has, but I also see him being challenged to a higher degree. I chose this school for my son because unlike private schools (by the way my son came from a very costly Catholic School which also delivered a superior education) charter schools are paid for by tax dollars and thus free and open to all parents. One of my main concerns in making the switch from Private to Public was the knowledge that public schools tend to be low on money and teachers but yet high on students, something like 30-40 kids in a classroom. This to me eliminates a teacher-student relationship and causing some students to have problems. Great Oaks Charter School has a very low teacher to student ratio creating a better learning environment. In addition, they provide their students with tutoring 2x Daily!! This school is also great for students who may have struggled in a rigid public school system due to the Charter Schools new styles of teaching such as the use of Chrome Books in the classrooms and encouragement through the Merit system(yes, the kids don’t just get Demerits, but Merits too)!.Great Oaks Charter School promotes not only academic success but enrichment and community service. It is not for the slackers. There is Zero tolerance for unpreparedness, disrespect and excuses. This sounds like a responsible and determined administration and that’s why I love it for my son!

I’m going to Great Oaks Charter School as a scholar! So far the school looks great small, but humble. Also when I went for an orientation the kids were very nice, also funny and entertaining because of the slime making and the dancing!🤗
