Great Panda Restaurant

We've been eating here for years. Service is exceptional. It's a cafeteria style eatery. Value is great. It's a locally owned neighborhood place where they get to know you and you get to know them. I was ordering for my young child one time and after the server asked me what he wanted, she corrected me and said he gets the sesame chicken. She was right and that's the kind of restaurant they are.

I've been coming here for close to 30 years & the owner has watched me and my daughter grow up. My family wouldn't go anywhere in Huntsville for Chinese food. It's so consistent and the service has always been so amazing 😍 love you small one!

Great food and service! Definitely recommend for locals or travelers. Not in the best area but is a gem on the inside!

Foodies BEWARE: I just picked up an order here and they served me brown, rotten and bloody chicken. They had a 75 health score on the wall when I walked in so immediately made me suspicious. None of them were wearing gloves when serving the food or taking any cleanliness measures. This shows it. Was my first time coming here and now my last. I’m so disappointed.

Food was ok. Mostly fried stuff. Ladies super nice. I personally would not go back.

Second visit and it wasn't good at all. Just after lunch and the food had been rehydrated with water. It was unpleasant & a turn off. I asked for a fresh cooked order of chicken and broccoli since we only wanted carrots & cannot eat broccoli. The server kept acting as if she didn't hear me correctly so finally she said "okay no broccoli," while simultaneously scooping pieces of chicken and carrots out of the crap that had been there all day. On top of that, since it would've meant filling our large cup up, she just DID NOT fill it up and, of course, we noticed. I waited for fresh cooked chicken egg rolls, these people try to convince you to take everything old ,"we just cook these five minutes ago," that was a lie. I mean anyone could see that most of the food was dry & dead. There was no real attempt to make us happy. Every single Chinese restaurant in Huntsville is the exact same. It would have been nice for them to set themselves apart. We will not return.... Another empty, pointless, ready-to-shut-down eatery. And the super sticky, sweet sauce in the general taos chicken, they use it in every single chicken dish they have-we tasted it. Kung Pao chicken is never sweet & sticky WTH??? What a crock

Chicken was soggy and floating in sauce. Very weird squishy texture with barely any flavor. Egg rolls were pricey for as tiny as they were. I would not recommend eating here. Seems like absolutely no care or quality in this food.

Great option for quick Chinese food. They have a hot food bar and you can make different combo plates for pretty cheap. We stopped by for dinner because our normal Chinese place was closed. I opted for 1 entree but split in 2 with an egg roll and white rice. I really liked their Kung Pao Chicken. We got 2 big to go containers and it was only $21. Will be back again.

Awful. We threw most of it out despite everyone being very, very hungry. We ordered General Tao and Sesame Chicken - they were covered in a sticky, sugary ketchup sauce and absolutely in no way resembled the actual dishes. The fried rice was completely flavorless. The egg rolls were small and soggy, and clearly fried hours ago. The beef with broccoli was fine, and the crab Rangoons were sugary. Avoid avoid AVOID

The food is always piping hot and delicious! The flavors are amazing, and it's never too salty or too sweet. The customer service is also outstanding. The staff makes it seem like they're sincerely happy to make the customer happy. The portions are huge, we have never been able to finish the dinner portion. Outstanding, overall!

Driving down Whitesburg Drive Great Panda caught my attention and we decided to stop. I didn't read any reviews before going inside to check the restaurant out. I have been looking for good Chinese food ever since returning to the great USA! Inside the restaurant features several hot dishes already cooked and sitting in warming trays. There is no waiting on food to be cooked here. Hubs and I tried the Kung Pao Chicken, Pepper Beef, Sesame Chicken, Broccoli Chicken, Broccoli Beef, Lo mein, white rice, fried rice, hot and sour soup and egg drop soup. The ladies behind the counter were very nice and helpful. The Kung Pao Chicken tasted the best of all the dishes. I noticed some broccoli was mushy and odd green color indicating it was old or overcooked. The food is Americanized and has way too much sugar for my taste. I know many like the taste of the foods here. I would return to get the Kung Pao Chicken and steamed white rice. The food is hot and the restaurant is clean. Their score is 95.

Best Chinese food in Huntsville and has been for over 10 years! Fast service for a quick but perfect bite.

When I tell y'all I just had the worst Chinese food ever, First off ion even know what kinda chicken that is, secondly I order sweet and sour chicken and General Tsao's Chicken and I didn't get neither the chicken thst i did get was bland asf no taste just watery sugar and the egg rolls didn't even have nun in it and I asked for chicken and vegetables didn't get that either I got some cake battered chicken with some red sauce and then rice don't have no salt or pepper no kinda seasoning, And mind y'all I haven't ate all day and everything here closes at 7 and 8

Please don't change great Panda, your food is delicious. You can tell that it isn't a cookie cutter "cheap" Chinese place based on the actual flavor and quality to the food. Don't get me wrong, it isn't fine dinning Chinese food or anything, but it definitely quality, tasty, while still being that "cheap" Chinese taste that one hopes and expects from a place like this. Anyone claiming "slimy" or "syrupy" food is lying, doesn't know better, or straight up has alternative motives. I'm just a regular dude that may have left one other review on yelp, I'm not sure, but I had to for this place. This is the first time I have been here, but not the last. I have had the food truck "pearl Asian" which I'm like 99% sure is the same thing but different names for some reason. Anyways, 10/10. Wait I almost forgot, there is one bad thing, in my opinion, the egg rolls kinda suck, sorry I had to say it. Maybe it's just me, but still don't change great panda!!

Rice- soggy and tasteless Chicken- grey and a slimey Noodles- weird texture We threw away the leftovers and I actually got very sick and threw the rest up. Do not go here, health hazard!!!

The food is so consistent and always great! The owners and staff are so friendly and kind. Can't say enough good things about Great Panda!

this is without a doubt the worst Chinese I have ever had. Nothing tasted fresh And it smelled slightly like wet dog. The white rice was like minute made rice. I got a plate to try three different chicken dishes, sesame, crispy chicken and General Tso's. The crispy chicken should be called mushy chicken. I didn't even get the sesame chicken I ordered but what I got was enough, They were all disgusting and the General Tso's was a neon pink and tasted like some weird Buffalo hot sauce. My picture looks more palatable in the photo than it was in person. My phone was not picking up how pink it.

This is not a fancy restaurant! In fact you go through a line and pick your dinner from the steam tables on the other side of the line. You are served in a to-go container, which you can take out or eat at one of the tables there! There were 5 of us in our party; my son and family. Fortunately between them and the owners (very friendly and helpful) It was suggested I order Kung Pao chicken, which was said to be extra spicy. Not for me. Luckily they have extra small containers of a delicious smoky sauce. That made my dinner amazingly delicious. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food. There's so much to try that looked amazing. I will tell the reader this Kung Pao chicken was unlike any I've ever tasted. Not overly battered, it made this dish very unique! I chose noodles instead of steamed or fried rice. I'm coming back soon try check out the other delicious looking food. highly recommend Great Panda especially if you're looking for a more traditional Chinese restaurant. 5 solid stars

This is the worst Chinese restaurant that I have ever ordered from. The crispy chicken was mush the white rice is like gum the sweet and sour is just dough. This food is not fresh nor hot when you get it. So I ordered from Panda. Night and day. Order from panda folks.

I drive all the way from Harvest eat the food. Or I pay the extra charge and have it delivered! This is the only Chinese food I will eat in Huntsville.

MY FAVORITE CHINESE RESTAURANT! I've been coming to Great Panda since I was a little girl. They used to be located in the food court of the old Parkway Place Mall until they did their renovations. The restaurant is small and is set up buffet style. There's about 4-5 booths and a few small tables which hold 2-4 individuals each. You can also choose to sit at the bar close to the buffet. Great Panda now and has been located in the heart of Huntsville ever since. Their location makes it perfect for lunch hours because it's near the hospital and many downtown offices. It is also pretty popular on Sunday afternoons when church lets out. I've also ordered delivery from them at lunch and they are very fast. You won't find a better price for the delicious quality of food Great Panda has. I always choose the noodles, 1/2 crispy chicken and 1/2 sesame chicken with an egg roll. My parents always order their broccoli and beef. You can't really go wrong with anything offered here. I can't decide on my favorite chicken, but both the crispy and sesame chicken are perfectly seasoned with sauce, but not overdone. My meal typically comes to around $5-6.00 including beverage.

Not the first time I've eaten here. The noodles were odd, maybe over cooked, just an odd texture. The General Tso chicken was disappointingly bland. One orders General Tso chicken because it is spicy.

This is a Huntsville hot spot and has been for many years. My first experience was around 2001 and was hooked ever since. It is a locally owned Chinese restaurant with good quality food. The price is inexpensive and a great place to go alone or with your entire family. Space can be limited, but the turnover rate is fast. It is a buffet style pick 3 and pay. Expect to pay around $8 a person.

I've never had more consistent and consistently good chinese. They don't make everything you can dream of which is probably good, because what they make is fresh and high quality. This IS the go-to place for Chinese in Huntsville!

Won't be going back, finally had enough, the last straw was wanting $1 to refill a small drink that was mostly ice in the first place,I just left.

I went here practically every day when my son was in the NICU for over a month. I'd go at lunch and I kid you not the food would be enough for lunch and supper for very affordable price. For $7ish bucks I'd get fried rice, low mein noodles and honey chicken with a drink. The people were so kind. If I lived closer I'd still be going super often but I plan to go back!

Can't rave enough about this place! I've been coming here for over 10 years and it's for a good reason. The staff is so friendly and the owners are fabulous. The food is phenomenal and it's wonderful gem that not many people know about.

For a quick Chinese meal this is my go to in Huntsville. Food is good and usually fresh. Prices are good and service is quick. All in all a good place for quick Chinese food.

Not gonna lie guys. Super not impressed. Food was kind of warm. And for some odd reason the broccoli and chicken had a faint odor of fish. We didn't order fish. Super weird. The Chinese egg log was moist. But not in a good way or anything. More of a crappy way. They didn't provide enough food to face transporter devices. How am I supposed to eat it? Fortune in cookie wasn't very promising. Hoping on that lucky number 33 to come through for me.

Garbage food. Garbage delivery service. Extremely over priced for such bad food. Make sure you order rice! I ordered two meals and two sides ASSUMING rice would come with a meal? I was wrong. 50 bucks later and I get to make my own rice. 0/10 will not order again.

I don't like the food I got the chicken and broccoli. It tastes like it was leftover the broccoli wasn't fresh at all. I would've taken a picture but the food is in the trash

Just to be clear - this is very average Chinese food that will likely only appeal to you if you spent your glory days leaving Huntsville High School to grab a to go box or meet friends. The prices are stellar and there is just something about nostalgia that is a big sell in some restaurants. I will never not be a fan of Great Panda.

This was the first chinese restaurant we tried since moving to Huntsville, and we are hooked. The crab rangoon is superb as well as everything else that we ate. The husband-and-wife owners are very sweet and have owned and operated for 20 years, so they know what they are doing! We are not even going to look at another Chinese restaurant, this one is it! Try it, you'll be glad you did!

20+ years customer. I've been eating their food since they were located in parkway city mall. This would be my 'last meal' if it ever came down to that. Have never had anything that even compares. Seriosuly, everything is good here.

Food is great and the prices are even better 2 people can each get a huge plate of food on lunch of your choice for only $12.50! Each Total. Soda of course is $2.50 for cola, but Enough food for a homeless mans lunch and dinner. Only thing I was disappointed about I called to ask if they had a buffet they said they do have a buffet. Only when I got there to my disappointment, they do have a buffet but it's not all you can eat the workers are there to scoop food onto your plate for a price and the worker behind the buffet fills your plate for you which is a one time payment. which she did pile my food up to more than I could eat in one sitting. so in all my experience its not all you can eat buffet price like I was told on the phone and charged but the low prices and great quality and quantity of food allows them to sneak under the all you can eat buffet as they advertise an ok review.

Been eating there for nearly 10 years. One big drawback is that they've had the same selection for the last 10 years. Same exact food, same exact interior, same exact staff. It's like a time capsule to 2004! My biggest complaint is that their egg rolls have gotten smaller and smaller every year but for some odd reason the price keeps going up! There's better Chinese restaurants in town. One such better place is Panda which is 2 miles south at the corner of Airport Rd. and Whitesburg Dr.

I am greatly disappointed in this restaurant today. We have always eaten in the restaurant and the food quality and quantity were excellent. However, we ordered to-go today and the portions were considerably small...comparatively smaller than dine-in and the same price. I told my boys these were kids meals. When we called to share our disappointment we were spoken to very rudely. We will not patron this establishment in the future.

This is by far my favorite Chinese in Huntsville. Great prices, and family owned. They didn't take credit cards for the longest time, and finally do now...thank goodness because that was their only downfall. May be busy during lunch because it's located near the hospital.

Good, basic Americanized Chinese food. Total sodium overload, but worth it compared to other places around this area. Unfortunately, most of the time the dishes with meat in them don't have much meat. My chicken and broccoli only had three pieces of chicken in it, so if you're looking for a meat feast, this might not be your place.

My family and I have eaten at Great Panda since they used to be located in Parkway City Mall. When Parkway City was torn down, we followed them to their new location. I have literally eaten there hundreds of times. I live in Chicago now but every time I visit Huntsville I am sure to get my Great Panda fix! It is similar to other types of quick-serve Chinese food but much better quality. I have to commend them on their consistency. The food has tasted great for 10+ years. I get exactly what I expect every time. I love the Kung Pow and General Taos. Best egg rolls I've ever had. Friendly service every time.

One of my favorite Chinese spots. The texture of the meat is different than most places. The service is fast and they have soup, veggies, egg rolls and other sides that not everyone has. You won't necessarily feel awful afterwards like you would after eating at some Chinese restaurants

A local favorite, they've been around forever and with good reason. It's a mall food court type Chinese place with very speedy and friendly service. Excellent spot for lunch. The kung pao and general tsao's chicken are my favorites. Comes with your choice of fried rice, noodles, or steamed vegetables.

The food was great but the service made the experience amazing. They don't open until 11am on Sundays, but they let us come in and eat an hour early and said that whatever they didn't have made, they would make what we wanted first. Nicest people ever. The woman who owns the place is very sweet and funny. Definitively recommended.

It was tasty and extremely affordable. It was exactly what I was looking for in fast, americanized chinese take-out. Everything was hot and cooked properly. I loved the fried wontons in the hot and sour soup. The general tso's chicken had just the right amount of spice and the king pao chicken was decent also. I would go back again if I have a craving for chinese.

Very good food and even better prices! The lady helping us was so friendly and let us taste test. We liked it so much we bought a variety of chicken and sauces. Restaurant was clean and we definitely recommend it. Think we found a new family favorite!

Been going to the panda since it was at the parkway city mall. Kung Pao chicken is really good. Only thing is their price has went up a lot and quantity of the food they put on your plate has went down. Kinda disappointing.

We decided to try this restaurant out on a recent trip to the space and rocket museum. They had great food! We will definitely visit again if we are in the Huntsville area again.

Great Panda has really good food but there are two downsides to this resteraunt both delivery related. First the delivery wait is 30-45 minutes. Second for delivery it is a $14 required amount spent counting delivery fee. So my original order was $9 but went up to $16 because I had to add things. but overall pretty good.

This Chinese restaurant is nothing like traditional fast food Chinese restaurants. The food is all very tasty, the servers are all very friendly, and the entire restaurant is very clean. You can see all of the food before making your selections. I have tried pretty much everything on the menu, and have thoroughly enjoyed all of it! I would definitely recommend Great Panda to anyone looking for good food in the Huntsville area!
