"Great Sichuan opened in Johns Creek last year in the former Cafe Q space. Be sure to ask for the Sichuan menu here. Try the spicy fish hot pot, mapo tofu, any of the dry hot pots, the boiled fish, and cumin lamb." - Eater Staff

There plenty of parking spaces, and service was courteous, internal decor is okay, nothing special. I choose Shredded Pork w. Spicy Garlic Sauce from Lunch special menu, my wife selected Sauteed Pig Kidney from Chief menu. I got sweet and sour soup right after my order. The soup was good. My shredded pork was also tender and tasty, the pig kidney was crispy, the spicy level was good to both of us, we both liked it. To be picky, I would say the sweet and sour sauce for shredded pork somehow tasted same as the soup.

I love Great Sichuan so much! Everything here was excellent. For food I love the chinese yam dish, pig kidneys, and sour cabbage fish soup. Service was pretty good and not too rowdy inside. Food came out pretty quickly. Outside seating is also available if you have a dog. I also don’t really recommend the ice jelly thing or whatever it’s called for dessert, it’s not very flavorful. Overall highly recommend.

Google
Amazing food, one of the best in Georgia! They have Chinese-style menus and but also an American menu, which I did not try. The Chinese menu was excellent with really great flavors. I enjoyed every dish! The duck was of excellent quality with really nice pieces, not bony at all. The staff was also very friendly, and the restaurant was clean. Prices are also good with large portion sizes.

I’m currently enjoying a lovely dinner solo. I’m new to the area and just stopped in on a whim. I am thoroughly enjoying their Tofu & Mixed Veg. in Clay Pot. I do recommend you stop by for something delicious!

Google
Our family's absolute favorite for authentic Sichuan food! They have Americanized Chinese food too, if that's your preference. We love the Shawn's city chicken (spicy fried chicken bites), fish hot pots, smoked duck, all the soups, pan fried dumplings. The hot & numbing pepper of this cuisine has become one of our favorites! 😍

Google
Delicious and authentic and unique! Some of the best vegetarian food options ever had! The tofu skins are sooooo good, the texture is perfect! The bean noodles are so refreshing and the chili oil is addicting! The shrimp dumplings were so packed with filling and paired perfectly with everything we got. The service is so sweet and the atmosphere is so clean and we loved the food so much! Will definitely come back again and again!!

Food tasted very good. Service was quick. Definitely coming back…

Google
Great Sichuanese food. Used to love to come here and speak Chinese with the old couple who used to run it. It's changed slightly, but it's still good!

Yelp
Another Gem place I found randomly on a normal Wednesday night. I was with my mom after a girls' spa day in the area when my mom felt Szechuan that day. Thanks to yelp, I found this place that was close to where we were, with good reviews and the food pictures look delicious. The restaurant didn't let me down! Our server welcomed us in and warmly asked my mom if she needed some hot water instead (it was getting chill a little) Food is very authentic and delicious. Our favorite is the eggplant with spicy garlic sauce in pot and the appetizer beef tendon thing. The hot and numbing pot was good, but I will expect more numbing spice added to it. It's a little mild for me but just right to my mom. It's a good combination though. Within one dish, you can get all meats and shrimp, veggies, mushrooms and clear noodles which is a good balance of daily nutrients. We will definitely come back and try other things on the menu (we started picking while we were eating already)

Yelp
***FOOD: Good authentic food so far. Everything we had was delicious. Will be back to try other dishes. House Fried Rice - good, Mongolian Beef - was a little bland instead of sweet ***COST (OUT OF 4$) $$ thought some of the dishes were a little expensive for what it is & portion wise ***DÉCOR: very nice, contemporary, clean, masculine colors ***SERVICE: Friendly and Fast. ***RECOMMEND: YES would definitely RECOMMEND and will definitely go back.

Yelp
Casual dining spot Service was excellent Food is delicious and spicy, just to our liking Must try

Yelp
I've been wanting to try the place for several years. I love mapo tofu with its numbing szechuan pepercorns and had heard that theirs was one of the better ones. It was pretty good and a very nice sized portion, but not much of that tounge tingling that I was looking forward to. I also had the pickled vegetables that looked disappointing when she delivered them to my table but they quickly grew on me. I'd order them again. I think I'll try the Kung Pao Chicken next time though.

Ali S.

Yelp
Amazing food 5* Good service. Will go back and try their other items. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yelp
I get these cravings for Sichuan food from time to time, and I'm quite addicted to that mala flavor. I also like "weird" things, according to your stereotypical American standards, such as offals, and I was happy to see that this restaurant offered a dish I was especially craving (mao xue wang). I ordered online and picked it up with no issues; the employees packed the to-go boxes very well and sturdy, which is much appreciated with all the hot liquids that come with Sichuan foods. I got: Fish fillet with green peppers and pickled cabbage hot pot: This wasn't spicy to me, which is probably a good thing considering the other two items I got. The green peppers were a nice change from the usual Sichuan red peppers, and the fish filet tasted quite salty, which is normal from the pickled cabbage. This is a great dish for mixing with rice, or just change up your palate from the other dishes. Spicy pig intestine, tripe, tofu hot pot: I had a sneaky suspicion that "tofu" was not your usual soy bite, and I was right. Traditional "mao xue wang" is made with offals and duck blood, and I think their "tofu" is actually the duck blood. The duck blood was actually really nice--they were plump, juicy, and tasted fresh, meaning it had a neutral taste. I'm also obsessed with intestine and tripe, so this dish was really exactly what I wanted. It also had a bit of heat, so it was very satisfying overall. Beef tendon and tripe in chili oil: This appetizer is another one of my favorites, mostly because it has tripe--I think my all time favorite has pig ear and tripe as the combo. This was also decently spicy, and to my pleasant surprise, it wasn't overly oily as many places tend to do. Overall, I love that this place is not overly oily--just enough to do the job--and that they offer Sichuan favorites that you usually can't find elsewhere. It is quite salty, but that's fairly typical of Sichuan cuisine (at least around here), so make sure you eat these with plenty of rice. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more items!

Yelp
A cozy, but bustling spot for authentic Sichuan food! We came here on the weekend for dinner and ordered the Beef Tendon and Tripe in Chili Sauce, Garlic Eggplant with Sauce, Fish and Sour Cabbage Soup. Each of these dishes was delicious, a good portion size, and at a reasonable price point. My favorite is the garlic eggplant, and the sauce was just the right balance of sweet and salty. Service is fast, and they even have one of those robots that plays music and brings over some dishes which is always fun to see! The interior is simple, and there is a decent amount of seating inside. Definitely looking forward to come back again!

Tracey H.

Yelp
I enjoyed the fried fish and mixed meats hot pot style with , chicken, fish and beef. It was very oily and a too much MSG but very addictive .I will give place a another try in the future .

Chelsea G.

Yelp
We craved spicy Sichuan food for way too long since no where else seemed to hit the mark for us.. until we came here. Things you should know: I. PARKING The restaurant is on the right end of a plaza shared by other businesses. There's a free private parking lot out front with plenty of available spaces. II. QUALITY Exactly what we were looking for ~ not americanized. At least not the dishes we ordered. Very happy with the result. III. SERVICE Timely and kind. IV. CAPACITY Fair amount of available seating for Sunday mid-afternoon hours

Niaz P.

Yelp
You wouldn't expect this place to be so good when you pass by, but definitely try it out! We came here on a random night and were thoroughly surprised. I ordered the soup dumplings and they tasted great! I wish I ordered another. The entree portions seem pretty big and the rest of my party had enough to take home for the next day.

Ashbeezy B.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick bite. This restaurant is warm and welcoming. The staff was so nice. I am trying to stay true to my veggie regimen so I got steamed vegetables, spring rolls and wonton soup. Everything was so good. This was the perfect end to a long day. Be sure to stop by if you're ever in Johns Creek. Why? Because ASH SAID IT! #ashsaidit

Yelp
We are happy that there is another option for Sichuan food in Johns Creek. We go to this place for a spicy food fix. The servers there all speak English which is good. their hot boil beef is great, this is one of the few places you can find the right flavor of hot boil beef in Atlanta. it is spicy and you can taste the numbness in your tongue. Kidney dish sounds scary but if you like it, there is no unpleasant smell.

Sarah G.

Yelp
Food is good, but service was horrible. I called to place a pick up order. Some lady answered. When I arrived, the food wasn't ready. I told the male serve that I would like to pay first and be back when it's ready. He was staring at me when I was signing the receipt. It made me very uncomfortable so I didn't tip him. His attitude totally changed after I signed. I went back to be restaurant later for my food. He pretended I was not there. After 5 minutes, I asked him if my food was ready. Without saying anything, he went to the cashier register for my food. The food was there the whole time when I was there waiting! I said thank you after he passed me the order. He just turned around and went back to the kitchen. The whole time he never looked at me or said a word to me! Unbelievably! This tipping culture is so twisted now. Never going back!

Yesenia B.

Yelp
Bland rice, bland noodles, bland soup. It's crazy because this place is alway busy. My food smelled amazing! The portions were just right! It was a quick turnaround time from ordering to pick up. I am tempted to try it again, but it was sooo bland...I rather have Panda Express.

Tina T.

Yelp
My favorite Sichuan restaurant in Atlanta. 100% if you love traditional Chinese/Sichuan food, visit this place. Here's some stuff you have to try. My favorite thing EVER to get here, and I've never NOT gotten this when I go is Green Pepper sliced Fish 青花椒沸腾鱼 - be warned though, this dish is SPICY. This Green Pepper sliced Fish is covered with hot peppers, and green sichuan peppercorn - which gives it a spicy and numbing (or mala) flavor. Other dishes to note - Steamed Chicken with Red Chili Sauce 口水鸡 and Hot & Numbing Combination 麻辣一锅端. Steamed Chicken with Red Chili Sauce 口水鸡 is actually an appetizer dish - it's steamed chicken, served in this cold red chili sauce that is incredibly flavorful. The Hot & Numbing Combination actually has a crapload of stuff - there's fish, shrimp, beet and chicken mixed with snow peas, mushrooms, black ear mushrooms, carrots and glass noodles in red spicy hot broth topped with cilantro, Sichuan peppercorns and chili peppers.

Kimly H.

Yelp
2 of us went there January 1 2024. Place was 1/2 occupied and clean. Staff was super attentive, Food was tasty and very authentic. Would definitely return

Vic N.

Yelp
The shichuan/mala dishes are solid. I like the hot & numbing combination but the portion was small especially since it's considered a shared dish for two. I felt like it lacked vegetables and more substance in the soup. I wouldn't recommend the mala beef roll which sounded good on the description but was basically a tortilla rolled with lettuce, cheese, and a sprinkle of beef. It was a weird combination and not worth the $8. Servers are friendly and attentive and you're seated right away. I never had to wait to get seated.

Ceci R.

Yelp
Always good service and flavorful food!!!! Love this place!!!! If u want good sichuan food, this is the place to go! Very authentic and fair price

Paulina A.

Yelp
I ordered American style kung pao chicken for takeout with steamed rice. The service was fast and friendly and the restaurant itself looked clean and updated. The ambiance could use a bit of warming up for dine-in (ie. Rugs and curtains) but overall it was good. I really enjoyed the food and would definitely recommend.

Rachel H.

Yelp
Very authentic Sichuan restaurant. They have good lunch specials. But I love coming here for the Sichuan dishes. They recently renovated their interior and it looks very nice, welcoming and clean. I love the sichuan dry chili chicken and the sichuan hot boiled fish fillet, if you can handle the heat. My husband loves the mongolian beef lunch special.

Noah S.

Yelp
My favorite restaurant, everything is incredibly delicious and priced very reasonably, it's my number one choice for a fantastic meal. The service is incredibly attentive and friendly, there's also a robot waiter that gives the place a goofy fun vibe

Gretel Y.

Yelp
Great Sichuan is quickly becoming our favorite Szechuan spot in the area! Before, we would have to drive 45 minutes or so for good Szechuan food. Not anymore. Great Sichuan isn't new, we've just finally recently tried it after passing by this restaurant numerous times. The staff is so nice and welcoming even over the phone. We've had a pleasant experience everytime. We've tried the following: V2 Mapo tofu $10.95 N7 Szechuan noodle with hot oil $11.95 T1 Sichuan spiced deep fried fish nuggets $15.95 Everything is delicious, but our favorites are the the fish nuggets followed closely by mapo tofu. These two are a must for us now. They're packed with flavor and spice. We love spicy food and these two do it for us. What I love most about their mapo tofu is that it's completely vegetarian while some places serve it with beef. The portions are great and each dish comes with rice. Two dishes with accompanying rice can easily feed my hungry family of three, but there aren't any leftovers. Service is super quick. Our food is usually ready within 5-10 minutes!

Michael R.

Yelp
I've been hearing about this place for a while and wanted to give it a shot. I love Sichuan so I was pretty amped up to try it. I got the kung pao chicken and it did not disappoint. Spice level was perfect for me but maybe a little hot for some. You can have them dial it down. This kung pao was almost as good as P.F Changs which is the gold standard in my book for Kung Pao. At least for now. The wife had Hunan Beef and did not like it at all. She was scared it was going to be too hot and told them to dial it down, she thought it was lacking in flavor after that. I tried hers and it wasn't bad, just nowhere near as good at the Kung Pao. Few cons...the wait staff spoke hardly any English. Kung pao was listed twice on the menu, with a $2 difference and for the life of me I couldn't figure out why. It wasn't the lunch vs. dinner saga. When i asked what the difference was I got blank stares. No biggy. If you like authentic Sichuan, give this place a try.

Haun K.

Yelp
This is our go to schezuan restaurant. Service is always excellent (although one time they did mistakenly add an item we told them not to due to allergies... but they fixed the issue with a free meal), food is great quality (in store better than takeout)! Our go to: Shan City Chicken (without peanuts), lamb cumin and fried eggplant! Always consistent.

Siang Yen F.

Yelp
The food was good! I went with my kids, they don't eat fish, but I was really craving for the fish and ordered it anyway. It was SO good! Service was excellent! Ambiance is alright, but fit the simple family dinner. Will be back again for the fish! So yummy!

Dee C.

Yelp
Delicious! Prompt service. They have a very large menu. We had pepper fish filet and beef and tendon cold plate. All very tasty and well seasoned. The spicy level can be higher. Will return to try other dishes

Ssd P.

Yelp
Amazing food, fast service and the staff is extremely helpful in explaining what each dish would be and spice levels The food was delicious we would definitely visit it again

David A.

Yelp
I've been to many sichuan cuisine here in ATL. This hidden gem definitely hit the spot! Taste are super Delicious! Staffs are friendly and the whole ambience is just great. Me, my wife and my sister got 4 items : 1. Malatang type of dish, forgot the name of it. But inside they put pretty generous amount of slice fish, and chicken. Since I don't eat beef. I skip it. But I bet , it would be a lot too. 2. Sour and spicy fish fillet soup. Again I forgot the name. This one has the right amount of sourness and a lil kick of spice. 3. Tofu and vegetable clay hotpot. 4. Yang chow fried rice. Totally recommended if y'all looking for some authentic Sichuan cuisine here in johns creek area. I should have taken some pictures , but was so hungry. =( So yeah next time ! Definitely will be back.

Austin E.

Yelp
I never leave reviews but wow this place is amazing. The food is amazing! The service is fast and very friendly. The food is a great price too! This will definitely be my go to spot when I'm in the area for lunch or dinner.

Ahiliya N.

Yelp
Really really good! I ordered the mapo tofu and am excited to try more! DELICIOUS and spicy

Drew F.

Yelp
The food here is amazing I got the golden mountain chicken (I forgot to take a picture) but anyway amazing cool off item! My mom and dad got the hot and numbing combo so good made with chicken, fish, and steak in a spicy sauce. The hot and sour soup is pretty good but expensive for the item. Also the noodles are amazing the cold noodle is better than the Dan Dan in my opinion. The service is good they check on you frequently.

Olivia K.

Yelp
Hot and Numbing Combination. This is literally so good, so for those of you who enjoy mala or want to try, try it from Great Sichuan! The staff are all friendly, and honestly to-go and dining in are both good options! Their other dishes are good, but I personally prefer their authentic-style dishes over their American-style dishes. Please go and give them some love!

Shirley C.

Yelp
Great sichuan is not that great. The food was ok, service was decent but it's not one of the best Sichuan restaurants out there.

Michael H.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised by Great Sichuan. This location has been a Chinese restaurant for many years, including under previous names like Cafe Q. The restaurant is under new ownership and now is focused primarily on authentic Sichuanese food rather than more American-inspired dishes. The inside seating is very nice, and the outside patio is also a good environment. You can tell that all of the food is fresh. In addition, the servers are quite warm and welcoming. We ordered many dishes including the mixed seafood clay pot, beef with sour cabbage, beef tendon & tripe in chili sauce, and Sichuan style stir-fried string beans. They were all fantastic, but I'd say the taste and portion size of the string beans was a standout. I highly recommend this restaurant for authentic Chinese food!

Meredith P.

Yelp
The food was horrible! The spring rolls were not crispy and no flavor, the wonton soup was flavorless and the wontons had barely any meat in them. The Kung Pao chicken portion was very small and didn't have enough sauce. I wouldn't eat here again. I was extremely shocked because the ratings were so good, it really makes me wonder where they came from.

Goutham R.

Yelp
Service was very quick and attentive, the food came out pretty quickly and was very good. The cumin lamb was really great. Would like to go back and try some other dishes.

Tracy L.

Yelp
I'm really into this place! Outdoor seating and good Sichuan food with great customer service. The Shan city chicken is literally perfect and is cooked so well. The pot stickers are crispy and delicious. The vegetables are fresh with large portions. The red oil chili wontons are plump and filling. The crispy fish nuggets are very flavorful.

Sheena S.

Yelp
Service - Good Food- Great! Cleanliness- Good Located at the end of the plaza, plenty of parking for the restaurant. They offer lunch specials during the week, which to me, makes a Chinese restaurant "authentic" =). I visited on a Saturday. Here's What we had: Fish spinach fried "taquitos" Dan dan noodles pot stickers xiao long steamed soup bun veggie lo mein chicken in hot garlic sauce kung pao chicken hot and numbing fish dry pot cumin lamb veggie fried rice bang bang shrimp The food was cooked authentic Sichuan style. Since coming from Los Angeles I've been looking for a GO TO Chinese restaurant. Finally I can say....found it! We had zero complaints with the food. Our bill was quite high, so I might have to stick to lunch specials, otherwise I will order too much and "pay the price." hehe. The restaurant utilizes a robot for service assistant. It does not replace the humans, which I appreciate. The menu has A LOT. We will definitely be back!

Chelsea W.

Yelp
Great food and service. We were looking for a good Sichuan Chinese restaurant after moving from Seattle. Great Sichuan did not disappoint. We ordered the Shan City chicken, pan fried dumplings and Dan Dan Noodles. Delicious! Great Service! We will be back again.

Joe K.

Yelp
The food is amazing and the service was excellent and prompt. I usually order takeout and it is always ready within 15 minutes. Please consider this place if you want excellent and authentic Sichuan cuisine. Our favorites Are the Mapu tofu, the hot and numbing fish and fish in Chili oil. The prices are fair considering the food portions they give you and white rice comes standard with your order.

Caroline K.

Yelp
My previous review was based on the former owners...New owners, new menu, changes galore. We went in with open minds and didn't let how much we loved the former have weight on what we thought, but it just didn't stack up. Hopefully the new team gets their kitchen legs and they swap out somethings and make their own base sauces. The lace potstickers had too much starch and just became this clumpy mess of torn wrappers and chewy texture. The veggie and meat fillings were okay flavor wise. Bok Choy and mushrooms were good, cooked properly and the sauce was okay. XLB were the freezer bag variety. One order was okay, but our second order were slightly freezer burned and made the wrapping tough and kinda chewy. Stir fried Calamari was good, but the calamari was a little tough in texture. Both pork dishes were tasty. One was dry fried with veggies and the other was shredded and stir-fried with veggies. I hope the previous owners made a pile of money and are retiring somewhere with a killer view...they worked their butts off and deserve it...but I miss her cooking already.

Andra C.

Yelp
So good and so authentic! The staff is so nice and the food is served in a timely manner.

Angela P.

Yelp
Very modern atmosphere restaurant with large servings for dinner. They have a robot assistant named Bella who brings trays out--very kitschy and fun! She's like an anime cat tower on wheels. I ordered Orange Chicken with fried rice and the orange strips were amazing. Fried rice was fresh and not greasy and no nasty peas or vegetables in it either! Hubby had Golden Mountain Beef and I will definitely be getting that next time--it was amazing! I photographed the menu --be aware the prices have gone up from last year a lot but still a decent price for the food you get. I absolutely will be coming back here again.

Le Q.

Yelp
Our family has been here twice and we like to come back because the food is really delicious. The service is really good. The atmosphere is nice. There are families, couples, and friends in the place...it's a place for everyone. You also see customers from every part of the world so I think this place is all-around pretty good! We love the salt and pepper fried tofu, green beans, Dan Dan noodles (you can ask for it without beef for the vegetarians), and the stews. They're all good! We live about 40 minutes away but we are happy to make the drive for a treat such as this place. There's also this robot that delivers to your table! Recommend.

Bill M.

Yelp
I'm new to the area and I've been looking for a good Chinese place. It took me awhile, but this is definitely the best!

Justin S.

Yelp
They gave me the wrong food and wouldn't let me change the meal to what I actually ordered. The food was not good either. Just cheap chicken that was super breaded.

J C.

Yelp
Greatest for take our gourmet Chinese. Very friendly. Fast service. Easy to find. I highly recommend trying this.

Gus H.

Yelp
Absolutely agree with all of the other positive reviews. We are regulars for weekday dinners and are always pleased. Service is polite and attentive, energetic ambiance is simple but often bustling, and OMG the food is amazing. You can ask for even the hottest (Hot and Numbing makes us lol every time) to be toned down and they make it perfectly spicy but not punishing hot. Vegetables are always fresh and high quality, as is the chicken and beef. Highly recommend.

Craig T.

Yelp
I came here for a late Sunday lunch with the family. I was super excited to try some authentic Chinese food in the Johns Creek area as most of the restaurants are all Korean based. While being seated, it looked like we were coming in to the end of their Sunday lunch buffet which was $8.95. I wanted to try it but hence the foods were already out for a few hours and they were all left overs as the lunch buffet is from 11am-2pm and it was 2:30pm when I got in. The Chinese waitress appeared to have an attitude and was sorta short with us. The employees all were eating the left over buffet foods and they all sat in the middle towards the front of the restaurant. We ordered the Family dinner with comes with 3 entrees, soup, and white rice. Apparently, the waitress says you can only pay with cash for the Family dinner. Something that I thought was odd and not advertised in the menu. We ordered the Twice Cooked Pork Belly, Mandarin Pork, Red Dry Chili Chicken, Tofu Soup, and it came with white rice. I loved the Red Dry Chili Chicken. It was amazing. It reminded me of a Salt and pepper chicken with peppers instead. I highly enjoyed the twice cooked pork belly. It was just like an asian form of bacon. I loved the mandarin pork as well. All the flavors were slightly spicy and had the awesome chili oil inside it. It made eating it with white steam rice even better. I was a-little annoyed as they gave us small bowls of rice for each person rather than just give us a big bowl of rice so we didn't have to trouble them. Service sucked as we had to get up to ask for more rice. They never came to check on us as they were too busy eating their lunch food. I can't wait to come back and try their lunch buffet. Don't expect good waiter service here. As it will suck. But don't take it personal, that's how most Asian restaurants are. A-little attitude and seem rude. I will definitely come back to try more dishes In the future!

Faraz H.

Yelp
Authentic Sichuan style Chinese. My favorites include green pepper fish with numbing peppers, hot boiled fish and numbing hotpot with fish and vegetables. Shan City shrimp and Dan Dan noodles is pretty good too
